October 14, 1919 - January 27, 2005

NEW PROVIDENCE—David Dean Clampitt, 85, of New Providence, died Jan. 27, 2005, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 31, at Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church. Burial followed in the Honey Creek Cemetery.

Dean was born Oct. 14, 1919, in New Providence, the son of Arthur and Anna (Faris) Clampitt. Dean graduated from New Providence High School with the class of 1937. He attended Iowa State Ag College for one year. Dean returned home to the family farm to work with his father. He was united in marriage to Helen Cornmesser on Jan. 1, 1943, in New Providence and was married for 62 years. The couple remained on the family farm south of New Providence until they moved to Conrad in May 2004. Over the years, Dean was able to farm with his son, Leslie. The farm operation included dairy cows, beef cattle, hogs, sheep, corn, soybeans and hay. In his later years, Dean raised quarter horses and border collies. He enjoyed outdoor activities including riding horses and border collies. He was an active member of the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church, Honey Creek Cemetery, Horsemen of Iowa and various community organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Conrad; three children, Leslie and wife Kay of New Providence, Jean Gunderson and husband Lynn of Hudson, Wis., and Harris Clampitt of Worthington, Minn.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Reba Martin.

Mabel 'Cheryle' Allison

HAMPTON—Mabel “Cheryle” Allison, 79, of Hampton died of natural causes Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the Hampton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Hampton Cemetery.

Cheryle was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Wharton, Texas, to Louis and Lydia Ann (Wittig) Sherrouse. She attended Wharton High School. On March 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to George Russell Allison in Houston, Texas. Cheryle was a housewife and mother, worked as a telephone operator and drove the transit bus in Hampton. She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary and the Senior Center. She enjoyed listening to music, reading and gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann L. Allison of Portsmouth, Va., Susan Glass of Wilton, Conn., and Cheryle McCormick of Plymouth, Mich.; two sons, Dan L. Allison of Hampton and George R. Allison Jr. of Ellicott City, Md.; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Louella Roecher of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a son, Jimmy; and a sister, Alene.

RENWICK—Thomas Woodrow Gimer, 86, of Renwick died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 29, at the United Methodist Church in Renwick with David Anderson officiating. Interment was in the Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Hardy.

Tom was born March 16, 1918, in Klemme, the son of Arthur D. and Emaline Fouts Gimer. He received his early education in Klemme. When he was 13, Tom moved with his family to Renwick, and graduated from the Renwick School in 1935. Tom then attended Iowa State College in Ames for a time. Tom was married to Marie Klein on Oct. 8, 1939, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived in Renwick. Tom served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. After his service, Tom returned to Renwick, where he worked with his father in the Renwick Creamery. Tom and his brother, Harl, purchased the business in 1947. They made butter and cheese and they also bottled milk. In 1953, the business went strictly to making cheese. Tom retired in 1984. Tom was a member of the United Methodist Church in Renwick. He was also a 50-year Mason and belonged to Viona Lodge No. 568 AF & AM in Renwick. He was also a member of Harvey-McPeak American Legion Post No. 289 and the Izaak Walton League, both of Renwick. When his children were growing up, Tom was a Boy Scout Leader. As a businessman in Renwick, Tom was involved in various organizations, including the Commercial Club, that promoted the town. He was also active in the senior citizens.

Tom is survived by his wife, Marie of Renwick; his children, Richard Gimer of Potomac, Md., Virginia Bolte and husband, Fred of Ankeny, Paul Gimer of Los Osos, Calif., and David Gimer and wife, Kathryn of Iowa Falls; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Millicent Gimer; his granddaughter, Lori Ann Bolte Muehlenthaler; one brother, Harl Gimer; and three sisters, Bernice Johnson Bell, Blanche Gibbs and Thelma McCurry.

IOWA FALLS—Rosaline Jorgensen, 84, of Iowa Falls died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 5, 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Iowa Falls with the Rev. Mike Pitkin officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Center Township Cemetery, south of Blairsburg.

Rosaline Rinalda Helen Berding, daughter of Gerhardt and Helena Thielen Berding, was born June 15, 1920, on a farm east of Mason City, in Mount Vernon Township. She received her education at Swaledale. On April 2, 1943, she married Raymond Christiansen Jorgensen in Mason City. The couple resided in Missouri and southern Iowa. In 1961, they moved to Williams. Rosaline had been employed by Northeast Hamilton School District as a bus driver and cook. She retired in 1982. Rosaline had lived at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls for the past 18 months. Rosaline was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond of Iowa Falls; daughter Rena Burnett and husband Dan of Blairsburg; two sons, David Jorgensen and wife Twyla of Blairsburg, and Don Jorgensen and wife Amy of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Jorgensen of Sheffield and Evelyn Johlas of Charles City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Aaron Burnett; brother Gerhardt Berding; and sister Leandre Berding.

DUMONT—LaVern J. Miller, 82, of Dumont died of natural causes Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at the Dumont Care Center. Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 4, at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont with the Rev. Terra Amundson officiating. Burial followed in the Dumont Cemetery.

LaVern was born March 7, 1922, in Butler County to John and Linnie (Marty) Miller. He attended Butler County country schools. On April 2, 1941, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Porter in Mason City. LaVern was a farmer and a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church. He was on the Farmer’s Co-op Board for two years. LaVern enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and going to dances with Dorothy.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Dumont; two daughters, Judy and husband Lurlin Schermer of Charles City, and Dixie and husband Larry Stayner of Prairie City; son Russell and wife Pamela Miller of Hampton; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother and one grandson.

IOWA FALLS—Robert "Bob" Keith Jessen Jr., 45, of Iowa Falls died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, from injuries sustained in a automobile accident. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Mary Green will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Bob was born on May 14, 1959, in Webster City to Shirley and Robert Jessen Sr. He attended schools in Webster City and Eagle Grove. Bob had worked at AGP in Eagle Grove for 22 years. He was currently employed by Christianson Farms Feed Mill in Iowa Falls where he had worked for the last three years. Bob enjoyed his children, camping and cooking.

Survivors include friend Sharon Tilkes and her daughter Jessica of Iowa Falls; four daughters, Sara and husband Ryan Ell, Becky and husband Sean Zigrang, Meagan Jessen and Holly Jessen all of Eagle Grove; mother Shirley and husband Lundy Hilpipre of Eagle Grove; father Robert Jessen Sr. of Dardanelle, Ark.; two sisters, Barb and husband Wayne Boyd of Goldfield and Kristie and husband Kirk Simons of Eagle Grove; a brother, Brad and wife Diane of Eagle Grove; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

NEW PROVIDENCE—Ruth Andrews, 82, of New Providence died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services are Wednesday, Feb. 9, 10 a.m. at the Honey-Creek New Providence Friends Church. Burial will follow at the Honey Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed in Ruth's name to her family or to Quakerdale.

Ruth was born Aug, 28,1922, in rural Liscomb, the daughter of Howard and Florence (Paris) Rash. She was raised in the rural Liscomb, Union and Whitten areas where she graduated from the Union-Whitten High School. Following graduation Ruth worked at a restaurant in Eldora were she met her husband, Duane. They were married on Nov, 7, 1943, in Missouri. Ruth worked at King's Food Host in Marshalltown and then worked for more than 25 years as a cook for Quakerdale in New Providence. Ruth retired from Quakerdale in February 2003. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, watching birds, cooking and being with her family. She was a member of the Chester Church where she taught Sunday school, The Missionary Society' and was a Quakerdale volunteer.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Linda Farm and husband Dick of Marshalltown; her son, Curds Andrews and wife Joy of Union; eight grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joe Rash and wife Pat of Union and Johnny Rash and wife Margaret of Chariton; and her sister, Millie Woodward of Conrad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane, in l997; her daughter Judy Dian in Infancy; her son, Chane; her sister Margaret Wooten; her brother, Dave Rash; and her grandson, Shawn.

IOWA FALLS—Dean Louis Warner, 65, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Marengo and Iowa Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness. Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. There will be no visitation.

Dean was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Iowa Falls, the son of Perle Hillis Warner and Eva Isabel (Anderson) Warner. He started his education at Maple Grove Country School near Bradford and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1957. A brilliant 4.0 mechanical engineering student, he completed all but one quarter at Iowa State University before schizophrenia struck in 1961. It changed his life and the lives of his immediate family forever.

Dean farmed south of Iowa Falls for 23 years. He lived in the Hardin County Home in Eldora for about two years before moving to Marengo where he assisted in the care of his mother. He lived at Hillside Estates for about two years before he moved to the Belle Plaine Care Center where he found contentment, understanding and peace in the remaining five years of his life thanks to their care and the psychiatric help of Dr. Judith Crossett, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He made frequent visits to the Marengo Memorial Hospital where he was treated with skill, dignity and compassion. He was under the care of Amenity Hospice, Cedar Rapids, during his last four months.

Survivors include his sisters, Nancy Beyer and husband Larry of Marengo and Vicki Fagerstrom of Des Plaines, Ill.; a brother, Michael Warner and wife Cindy of Marion; two nephews, John Beyer of Hartland, Wis., and Michael Beyer of Koszta; and a niece, Amelia Warner of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John Fagerstrom.

A memorial fund has been established in Dean's memory. Memorial donations may be given to Marengo Memorial Hospital or the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

IOWA FALLS—Eva Hankom, 92, of Iowa Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 11, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alden with the Rev. Rick Layman officiating. Burial will follow in the Alden Cemetery. Friends may call at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Eva was born May 26, 1912, in Alden to Henry and Edith (Glade) Christensen. She attended country school in the Alden Township and graduated from Alden High School. She then attended Ellsworth College and received her teaching degree. On June 7, 1934, she married Joseph Hankom in Decorah. Eva was a teacher and a member of the United Methodist Church in Alden, a past president of the church's Women's Society and the Alden Garden Club, as well as a 50-year member of the Priscilla Chapter of the Eastern Star, where she was a Past Worthy Matron.

Eva is survived by two sons, Ronald Hankom and wife Judith of Hampton and Richard Hankom and wife Shirley of Corwith; five granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Arnold Hankom of Iowa Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; two sisters, Margaret Dunning and Myrna Steinberg; and a brother, Raymond Christensen.

RADCLIFFE—William F. Schwebke, 86, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at his home near Radcliffe.

Bill was born on May 11, 1918, near Eldora, the son of Wilhelm H. and Anna (Steinfeldt) Schwebke. Bill graduated from the Eldora High School and attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon. He was the deputy clerk of courts for Hardin County for over three years before enrolling at the Gregg College of Business, Chicago, Ill., to become a court reporter. Bill joined the U.S. Naval Reserve on Dec. 15, 1941. Because of his typing and shorthand skill and the record number of enlistees joining the Navy, Bill was assigned to stenographic duties at the U.S. Navy Recruiting Station, Des Moines, where he continued his service until his discharge on Feb. 4, 1946, as Yeoman, First Class, U.S. Naval Reserve. Bill first met Ethel, his wife, in Eldora, where she was a schoolteacher. They were united in marriage on June 30, 1942, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. In January of 1959, their family expanded when they were blessed with the adoption of their son Kendon. Upon his discharge from military service, Bill and Ethel moved to Ethel's mother's farm two miles north of Radcliffe in March of 1946. They purchased the farm in 1959 and made additional land purchases in the community in 1969 and 1973. Their farm was a general farming operation, raising chickens, milk cows, beef cattle, hogs and tilling the ground for hay and grain. William fed cattle and it was while serving as commander of Radcliffe Post No. 317 in 1953 that the local Legion Post and Legion Auxiliary sponsored a "cattle feeders dinner" which eventually became Hardin County Cattle Feeders' Association that is still an active organization. Bill and Ethel farmed together until 1999 when they retired.

Bill was a sports fan, enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Radcliffe Development Group, served as president of Radcliffe Medical Improvement Society, and was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, serving eight years as recording secretary and three years as president and singing in the choir.

Bill is survived by his son, Kendon of Anamosa, and niece, Arlyn Hake of Radcliffe, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel and sister, Leona Daleske.

E. Beecher Crosley

ELDORA—E. Beecher Crosley, 91, of Eldora died from natural causes Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial followed in Eastiawn Memory Gardens in Eldora.

Beecher was born April 22, 1913, in Randall, son of L. Monford and Edith May (Beecher) Crosley. They moved to Lawn Hill when Beecher was 2 and at the age of 16 he graduated with the New Providence class of 1929. He moved to Eldora in 1930 and on June 3, 1934, he was united in marriage to Ruth M. Mohr. Ruth died on June 9, 1963, and on Nov. 14, 1965, Beecher married Winnifred Putnam. Beecher owned and operated Crosley Farm Store in Eldora for 58 years. He also sold and delivered coal, operated a chicken hatchery and turkey farm, sold insurance and had a dealership for GBH Way Homeway Homes. Beecher was a 75-year member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a lay leader, served as treasurer for 20 years and sang in the choir for 25 years, also singing with an area barbershop quartet. He was a 66-year member of the Masonic Lodge, a 60-year member of the Eldora Rotary Club, receiving the Paul Harris Fellowship award, and was a FFA and high school band booster. Beecher served on the Eldora Chamber of Commerce for 58 years, serving one term as president, and was voted "Man of the Year" in 1980. Beecher’s community involvement also included serving on the library Board, Hospital Planning and Finance Committee and Eldora Chamber of Commerce Planning and Development Board. He was active with the Hardin County Historical Building, the Farm Museum and helped make plans to build the youth building at the county fairgrounds.

Survivors include his wife, Winnifred; daughters Dixie Crosley Harrington of Davenport, Tammy Crosley Gaynor and husband Richard of Pleasant Hill, Polly Crosley Granzow and husband David of Eldora, Barbara Putnam Larson of Clinton, and Pamela Putnam Kauffman and husband Bob of Grayslake, Ill; son Dennis Putnam of Waienae, Hawaii; and 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; sister, Bess Furlong; grandson Dennis Putnam Jr.; and son-in-law Paul Larson.

STEAMBOAT ROCK—Russell “Rex” Heard, 84, of Steamboat Rock, died from natural causes Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are Monday, Feb. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock with the Rev. Bruce Baillie of the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock officiating. Burial will follow at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery with full military honors provided by Hoover-Eiserman Post No. 542 of the American Legion. Visitation is from 4 until 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Rex was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Tracy, Minn., son of Rowland and Ella (Bowers) Heard. He graduated from Owasa High School in 1940 and on Oct. 26, 1941, he was united in marriage to Bernice A. Reece at his parents’ home in Eldora. Rex entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Corps in 1945 and he returned to Owasa where he worked for a farmer for several years before farming on his own. In 1955 Rex and Bernice moved to Steamboat Rock where he farmed prior to working as a custodian for the Steamboat Rock school system until the mid-70s. He then worked as a custodian for Ackley-Geneva High School, retiring in 1985.

Rex was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock where he had served as a trustee; a member of the Pine Lake Saddle Club, serving as president for 40 years; Steamboat Rock Boat Club, serving as president for 33 years; and Hoover-Eiserman Post No. 542 of the American Legion. He was also a former member of the Steamboat Rock Fire Department and served several years on the Steamboat Rock City Council. He was a cowboy and horseman, loved playing golf, and in his younger years played softball.

UNION—Lucille Glenn, 82, of Union, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Union. Burial will be in the Bangor Friends Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Biersborn Funeral Home in Union where family will be present from 4 until 6 p.m.

Lucille was born May 15, 1922, near Bangor, the daughter of Harvey E. and Minerva (Randall) Borton. The family moved to Hollandale, Minn., in 1927. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1940. The family returned to Union in 1942 and Lucille worked as a cook for several years in local restaurants. She also worked at Collegiate Manufacturing in Ames during World War II. On Nov. 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Tom Glenn in Union. The couple spent all of their married life in the Union and Bangor areas. Lucille was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school/VBS teacher, church treasurer, kitchen chairman and historian for many years.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Tom Glenn of Union; daughter Carolyn Glenn of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Archie Borton; and three sisters, Elnora Borton, Ada Harris and Leona Elliot.

HAMPTON—Luella M. (Draeger) Dodd, 90, of Hampton, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at her home of natural causes. Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Hampton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.

Luella was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Franklin County, the daughter of William E. and Cora L. (Frashier) Ballhagen. She attended schools in Dumont and Bristow. On Sept. 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Draeger in Elkader. Lawrence passed away in 1987. Luella married Harold Dodd on May 28, 1994, in Hampton. Luella was a homemaker and worked at the B&B grocery store bakery in Hampton. She was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church and active in the Hampton Senior Center. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking.

Survivors include husband Harold of Hampton; two sons, Larry and wife Sue Draeger of Iowa City and Charles and wife Joann Draeger of Austin, Minn.; two step-sons, Dennis Dodd of Forest City and Dean and wife Jean Dodd of Hampton; step-daughter Mary and husband Jon Weber of Palmer; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lawrence; a daughter, Cindy Lou; four brothers and two sisters.

Zella was born July 25, 1925, in Dows, daughter of George and Ora (Porter) Flett. She was raised in the Radcliffe and New Providence areas graduating from New Providence High School. She then attended Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines. Zella spent most of her adult life in Eldora where she worked as a surgical technician at the Eldora Community Hospital for 26 years. She was married to Bud Reagan and later divorced. On April 7, 1979, Zella was united in marriage to Gene Farmer in Eldora. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eldora where she was involved with the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Hardin County Historical Society and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In her younger years, Zella enjoyed bowling with the Eldora Women’s Bowling League, and had bowled in several state tournaments. More recently Zella enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Surviving is her husband, Gene; son, David L. Reagan of Moscow, Iowa; stepchildren, Larry and wife Jan Farmer of Ashville, N.C., Cynthia Mayer of Marshalltown, John and wife Mary Bea Farmer of Eldora, Jerry and wife Carol Maxfield Farmer of Marshalltown, and Thomas and wife Erin Farmer of Rocklin, Calif.; 15 step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, James Flett; and half-brother, Davis Birdwell.

Lucile was born May 8, 1916, at her parent’s farm in Ross Township, Franklin County, the daughter of Roy William and Letha Ione [Bailey] Hemm. She attended the Chapin School, graduating with the class of 1933. On Dec. 9, 1936, she was united in marriage to Bruce Franklin Kelsey also at her parent’s home. She farmed with her husband east of Iowa Falls until retirement. Lucile was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Mary Lane Club of which she was secretary/treasurer, the United Methodist Women’s Fellowship and Iowa CCI.

Survivors include a son, Kurt Kelsey and wife Arliss of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Lynda Peterson of Fort Dodge; four grandchildren, Kent Kelsey and wife Sara of Iowa Falls, Letha Kloberdanz and husband Luke of Dane, Wis., Tim Peterson of Des Moines and Jeff Peterson and wife Jodi of Ankeny; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Kelsey of Iowa Falls, Emma Peterson of Des Moines and Jack Peterson of Ankeny; and several nieces and nephews.

ACKLEY—Marie Lillian Heine, 80, of Ackley and formerly of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at the Presbyterian Village of Ackley of natural causes. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, at the First Congregational Church, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Ron Bartlett officiating.

Marie was born Aug. 18, 1924, the daughter of William and Minnie Kneppe Fank on her parents' farm near Parkersburg in rural Butler County. She graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended Iowa Teachers College for one year. Marie was united in marriage with Raymond Heine on June 21, 1946, in the Congregational Church in Parkersburg. The couple made their home for a few years on a farm in the Pleasant Valley community near Clarksville. They moved south of Parkersburg and farmed until moving into Parkersburg in 1958 where they lived the rest of their lives. Marie worked for Dale Hassman, Ken’s Feed & Supply and Johnson Plumbing and Heating as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Parkersburg where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She loved to play table games and spend time with her family. She had kept a daily diary and filled many books in the process. Her church and family were her life and she had a deep concern for their well-being.

Marie is survived by one son, Lee and wife Nadene Heine of Hillsboro, Wis.; a daughter, Linda and husband Arnie Luiken of Steamboat Rock; a brother, Bennie and wife Frances Fank of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother.

PARKERSBURG—Deidra Florence Hippen, 46, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn., of a rare lung disease. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Hope Reformed Church, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Neal Ooms officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington. Memorials may be directed to the family or to an education fund for her girls.

Deidra was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Des Moines, the daughter of Alton and Floreine King Ellingson. She graduated from Wellsburg High School and attended Ellsworth College for two years. Deidra was united in marriage with Galen Hippen on March 28, 1981, at the Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg. The couple lived in Aplington and Deidra worked with Galen in their Hippen Appliance business. She worked for Bergan Paulson Accounting Firm in Waterloo for a few years, for the postal service in several towns, for Oster Communications for one year and then for Peterson Genetics for six years. Deidra was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg. She served as secretary/treasurer for the Sunday school and was a member of the BELL Couples Group. She also helped at church as a youth group leader, Puppet Ministry and sang in the church choir. She was active in the Cursillo Community. Deidra liked to scrapbook and do cross-stitching. She enjoyed collecting gingerbread items and sharing Taco Tuesday with her friends. She was an avid bargain shopper. Deidra especially loved to attend and take part in any of her daughters’ activities, such as their soccer, basketball, softball and volleyball games and track meets, and in their plays, music and speech events.

Deidra is survived by her husband of nearly 24 years, Galen Hippen of Parkersburg; two daughters, Koby and Haley Hippen at home; two brothers, Ron and wife Cindy Ellingson of Wellsburg and Rick and wife Gina Ellingson of Waterloo; one sister, Denise and husband Bill Wieland of Carroll; mother-in-law JoAnn Hippen of Aplington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; one brother, Keith Ellingson; one sister-in-law, Chris Ellingson; and one sister in infancy.

She then attended the Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines. On July 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to James D. Morgan at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. They were later divorced. Patricia was a cosmetologist for many years, working in Brainerd, Minn., and Alden, and was last employed by Sartori Hospital, Cedar Falls, retiring in 1983. She was also the state secretary for Iowa Cosmetologists and had held various affiliate offices. She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Patricia is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Segebarth and husband Robert of Waterloo, Darla Schrage and husband Richard of Cedar Falls, and Marcie Vickerman and husband Brad of Carlos, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mickey Pryor; and one brother, Jerry T. Thorp.

PARKERSBURG—Herman Rivert Rewerts, 85, of Parkersburg, died of cancer Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg with the Rev. Frank Pott officiating. Military rites were provided by Parkersburg American Legion Post No. 285. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg.

Herman was born south of Dumont in Butler County on Nov. 11, 1919, the son of Leonard and Bessie Diekman Rewerts. He was raised on a farm west of Kesley where he received his education in a rural school in Madison Township. On Sept. 25, 1942, Herman entered the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the South Pacific area. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1945, after 3½ years of service. Herman was united in marriage with Marjorie Berends on Feb. 21, 1947, in Butler County. The couple farmed for 32 years in Butler and Grundy counties. In 1979, they moved to their present home in Parkersburg where Herman worked for O’s Gold Seed Co. and Payco Seed Company. Herman was a member of Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg and the Parkersburg American Legion Post No. 285. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and collecting John Deere memorabilia.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Parkersburg; one daughter, Sharon and husband Dennis Schipper of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, including Douglas and wife Camilla Schipper of Ackley; seven great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; one brother; one sister; one sister-in-law, Doris Rewerts of Iowa Falls; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a grandson.

RADCLIFFE—Wilhelmina Lois Klemme, 83, formerly of Radcliffe, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Story County Hospital in Nevada where she had been a long-term care resident for nearly five years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Radcliffe with burial at Radcliffe Cemetery. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wilhelmina was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Hastings, Neb. She was the eldest of four children born to Milford and Lydia (Reutlinger) Vance. Her father was a Methodist minister. They lived in several different communities as she was educated and she graduated from high school in Fullerton, Neb. On June 22, 1948, Willie was united in marriage to Alvin Klemme by her father, the Rev. Milford Vance. After their marriage, they farmed near Murdock, Neb., until 1969. They then moved to the Radcliffe area and farmed near Garden City. In 1978 they retired into Radcliffe. Willie was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Radcliffe where she enjoyed quilting and being involved in the UMW.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice Klemme of Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Rodney and wife Nancy of Nevada; two grandchildren; her stepmother, Delia Vance of Mission, Texas; one brother, Ken Vance of LeMars; one sister, Virginia Geary of Norfolk, Neb.; one half-brother, the Rev. Melvin Vance of Racine, Wis.; one half-sister, the Rev. Ardith Nelson of Mission, Texas; along with other relatives and friends.

Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Vernon Vance.

IOWA FALLS—Margaret Eloise Tuttle, 90, of Iowa Falls, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Hartley Funeral Home in Hartley with the Rev. Michael Wilier officiating. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley.

Margaret, the daughter of Dale and Alice (Frame) Dick, was born in Sanborn on April 4, 1914. She lived her youth and received her education in Sanborn, graduating from the Sanborn High School. Margaret was united in marriage to Melvin Tuttle on Aug. 18, 1934, in Sanborn. Margaret was employed in Hartley where she was a seamstress and did alterations. She moved to Iowa Falls in November 2001. Margaret had been an active member of the Hartley United Methodist Church. She participated in the church circles, was a youth group leader and helped make many quilts. Special interests of Margaret's included crocheting, watching television, bird watching, shopping, and visiting her family. She will be remembered as a very gifted seamstress.

Margaret is survived by her children: Roger and Barbara Tuttle of Keokuk, and Barbara and Roger Wohlert of Iowa Falls; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Pierce of Cedar Falls; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin, on Jan. 7, 1976; one sister; two brothers; and one step-brother.

HUBBARD—Marjorie Adella McMillen, 94, formerly of Hubbard, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 17, at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard with burial in the Hubbard Cemetery.

Marjorie was born May 4, 1910, on the Cottage Ridge Farm that belonged to her parents, William E. and Mary Jane “Jennie” (Mossman) Brightwell. She received her education by attending Cottage Community School and Hubbard High School, where she graduated with the class of 1927. On June 12, 1934, Marjorie was united in marriage to N. Langdon McMillen at the Cottage Ridge Farm by the Rev. Dewey Lamprecht. After their marriage, they farmed her home place, seven miles north of Hubbard. In 1955, they moved into Hubbard. Marjorie had a love for music and poetry. She was a piano teacher, played the clarinet in the Ellis Church Orchestra, and was a pianist and Sunday school teacher at the Point Pleasant Church. Once the couple moved into town, they became members of the Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard. Marjorie had also been a 4-H leader. Marjorie lived in Hubbard until 1992 when she was put under the care of the Presbyterian Village in Ackley.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Little and husband Romayne of Rockford, Ill., along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Langdon “Mac”; six sisters, Mabel, Hazel, Floy, Alma, Evelyn and Marie; an infant brother, William Edward Brightwell Jr.; and special “brother” Sievert Johnson.

Edna was born Nov. 26, 1932, at Chadron, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Nellie [Harris] Banner. She attended school at Geneva. She was employed as a cook for many years at the Red Rooster Café and had also worked at Porter’s on Main, both in Iowa Falls.

Survivors include a nephew Lenard Grimm of Iowa Falls; a cousin, Joyce Kirkbride of Hampton; and her friend, Larry Gardner of Iowa Falls.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Speicher and four brothers, James, Charles, John and Ray Banner.

Vincent was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Butler County, the son of Henery C. and Mary (Henken) Kramer. He attended Brushy Mound Country School in rural Butler County. On Feb. 22, 1948, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Irene Jacks at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She passed away on Jan. 15, 1976. Vincent married Arlene Heise on Nov. 28, 1977, in Charles City. She passed away on June 2, 2003. Vincent was a farmer, mechanic and inventor. He was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison and enjoyed having mid-morning coffee with friends.

Survivors include son David and wife Linda Kramer of Johnston; daughter Jean and husband Ron Davis of Geneva; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one sister and three brothers.

ALLISON—George F. Neugebauer, 89, of Allison, formerly of Longmont, Colo., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, of natural causes at the Allison Care Center. Memorial services will be Monday in Longmont, as well as inurnment. There will be no visitation.

George was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Douglas County, S.D., the son of Fred and Bertha (Moshner) Neugebauer. He attended Douglas County country schools. On Sept. 12, 1937, he was united in marriage with Leona Grosz in Armour, S.D. George was a farmer and cabinet maker. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Longmont and St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. George enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and working.

Survivors include his wife, Leona of Allison; daughter Donna and husband Calvin Fick of Allison; son Alvin and wife Joan Neugebauer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Regina Sperlich of Custer, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lorraine; and five brothers and sisters

Marlyn Vanderwerf

PARKERSBURG—Marlyn Cecil Vanderwerf, 76, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of a cancer illness. Funeral service were held Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Paul Schaedig officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, with military rites provided by Parkersburg American Legion Post No. 285.

Marlyn was born Aug. 10, 1928, the son of Peter and Grace (Behrends) Vanderwerf on a farm in Grundy County near Wellsburg. He received his education in a Grundy County country school. Marlyn was united in marriage with Gertie Evers on Nov. 18, 1949, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg. The couple made their home in Parkersburg and in 1950, they moved into their current home. Shortly after their marriage, he was drafted into the U.S. Army on Feb. 4, 1952, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 16, 1954. He served in Korea and was stationed in Pittsburgh, Pa., and later in Texas. Marlyn worked at Clay Equipment Company as a shear operator for 41 years and retired in August 1991 at the age of 62. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, was Sunday school superintendent, sang in the church choir and ran the sound system on Sundays. Marlyn was a past member of the Amvets. He used to pheasant hunt and enjoyed watching the Cubs and Hawkeyes. He loved to spoil the grandchildren, was a great fan of their activities and attended many of their sporting events.

Marlyn is survived by two daughters, Anita Vanderwerf, and Cynthia Madsen and husband Kent, all of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chester Vanderwerf of Aplington, Wayne Vanderwerf and wife Alvina of Cedar Falls, and Gerald Vanderwerf and wife Dixie of Nashua; and one brother-in-law, John Krull of Wellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Gertie Vanderwerf on Sept. 29, 2000; his parents; one sister, Evelyn Krull; and a sister-in-law, Hattie Vanderwerf.

Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.

IOWA FALLS—Ralph Ivan Johnson, 90, of Iowa Falls, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Linn’s Funeral Chapel, Iowa Falls, with military honors provided by Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Alden Township Cemetery. The Rev. Brian King, Bethany Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Ralph was born April 5, 1914, at Alden, the son of Edward and Ellen (Flesbrug) Johnson. He attended Alden community schools through eighth grade and the Williams community schools, graduating from Williams High School in 1932, after staying home a year to help his father on the farm. He worked at the Williams Lumber Yard and the Reeds Ice Cream factories in Des Moines and Omaha before entering the U.S. Army on March 21, 1942. He served through several campaigns, starting with the Normandy landing, and including the Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge, receiving five bronze stars for actions in these battles. After his discharge on June 28, 1945, he returned to the farm. On July 6, 1952, he was united in marriage to Margaret Beecroft at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. He and Margaret moved to Iowa Falls in 1981. Margaret passed away on Dec. 16, 1994.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and his brother and wife, Jesse and Dorothy Johnson.

CHARLTON—Bettyanne M. Frizzell, 77, of Charlton, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 21, at Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Pulatie officiating. Burial followed at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Bettyanne was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Alden. She was a secretary and bookkeeper and a member of PEO, the Corydon Garden Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and several bridge clubs.

Survivors include husband Robert L. Frizzell of Charlton; and three brothers, Bill Vroman of Waterloo, Richard Vroman of Iowa Falls and Milan Vroman of Owatonna, Minn.

Edyth Lucille Baker was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Milford, to Allen and Margaret Baker. She attended elementary and high school in Milford. On Oct. 30, 1927, she was united in marriage with John George "Jack" Wilson. Edyth was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church in Alden. She offered assistance with taking baked goods to share with residents at nursing homes, and enjoyed friendship circles, her “card club,” gardening and flowers.

Survivors include a son, John A. Wilson and wife JoAnn of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Nancy L. Davis of Fairview, Ore.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy M. Wilson of Alden; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, David P. Wilson; and a sister, Virginia L. Strickland.

DUMONT—Glenn H. Wiegmann, 86, of Dumont, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus in Mason City. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 21, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Greene with the Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Glenn was born Feb. 23, 1918, in rural Bristow to Conrad C. and Ida (True) Wiegmann. He attended Hill Town Country School and graduated from Bristow High School in 1936. Glenn served his country during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Army as a medic. He earned many honors, including the Bronze Star, and was involved in the Normandy invasion. On Nov. 22, 1945, he married Meta Meyer in Bristow. Glenn was a farmer and member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Dumont American Legion, served as secretary of the Bristow Telephone Company and held various church offices. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting toy tractors and wood tools, going to farm auctions and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Meta Wiegmann of Dumont; four daughters, Phyllis and husband Dave Opperman of Rogersville, Mo., Carol and husband Jeff Seehusen of Allison, Janet and husband Harlan Stoker and Becky Walker, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Warren and wife Noreen Wiegmann of Bristow and Larry and wife Valerie Wiegmann of Alden; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister and one brother.

NEW PROVIDENCE—Helen G. Clampitt, 82, of New Providence, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Oakview Care Center in Conrad. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence with Arlen Daleske and Lloyd McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Honey Creek Cemetery. Boeke Funeral Homes of Hubbard is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Clampitt was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Green City, Mo. She was the only daughter of three children born to Sigel and Lula (Downing) Cornmesser. She moved to Iowa with her family in 1937. Helen graduated from New Providence High School with the class of 1940. She was united in marriage to D. Dean Clampitt on Jan. 1, 1943, in New Providence. She was Dean’s partner in the farming business, helping with the fieldwork, record keeping, lawn mowing, leaf raking and cared for the laying hens. She and Dean remained on Dean’s family farm south of New Providence until they both moved to Conrad in May 2004. Helen enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and sewing, reading, gardening and canning and loved ISU basketball and football games. She was an active member of the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church and the Honey Creek USFW.

Helen is survived by her three children, Leslie and wife Kay of New Providence, Jean Gunderson and husband Lynn of Hudson, Wis., and Harris Clampitt of Worthington, Minn.; brother Robert Cornmesser and wife Mary of Indiana; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean; brother Jerry Cornmesser and his wife, Mary; and sister-in-law Reba Martin.

IOWA FALLS—Helen Bonita Faisey, 85, of Iowa Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Graveside services were Friday, Feb. 18, at the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown with the Rev. Bobby Shomo officiating.

Eleanore was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Marshalltown to Floyd Stobart and Maude Bernice Hartley. She graduated from Marshalltown High School. She went to work for the F. W. Woolworth Co. and later the Marshalltown Times Republican newspaper. Her unique musical talent took her to Denver. Colo., where she performed as a singer for the Hal Leonard Orchestra and traveled around the country to several renowned places, including the famous Trianon Ballroom in Chicago. She was then the featured singer at the popular Beacon Supper Club in Denver for several years. After an accident, she could no longer continue her singing career and relocated to Torrance, Calif., where she met and married Edward Faisey. She became very active in her church there, furnishing recording services and events. After several years she relocated to Alden where she enjoyed playing golf with her friends. She spent several happy years at the Ashbrook Manor in Iowa Falls.

She is survived by nieces, grandnephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; sister Mildred Aileen Norris; and brother-in-law William Nelson Norris.

Henrietta was born June 9, 1911, in Butler County to George Knavel and Lena Bruns. She received her education at North Prairie Hill. On Feb. 26, 1936, she was united in marriage with Martin Krull at the EUB Church in Dumont. Henrietta was a homemaker, a domestic helper for various families in Dumont and a member of the Dumont Reformed Church.

Survivors include sister Gertrude Pagenkopf of Evansdale and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; and three brothers.

Kathryn was born Aug. 17, 1908, in rural Dumont to Frederick and Jennie (Ubben) Miller. She graduated from Dumont High School in 1927. On Oct. 18, 1929, she was united in marriage with Donald Evans in Owatonna, Minn. Kathryn was a homemaker and an active member of the New Hope United Methodist Church. She was a Gold Star Mother and enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending time with her family.

Survivors include daughter Dawn and husband Wendell Thomas of Rockwell; three grandchildren, including James and wife Melia Thomas of Rockwell; and four great-grandchildren, including Cody and Sierra Thomas of Rockwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; a son, Donald Duane; five brothers and six sisters.

Marilyn was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Iowa Falls, the daughter of Gerald and Ryken Jo (Hannah) Fryslie. She attended the Iowa Falls Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1953. She had been married to Wesley Kracht; to this union one son was born: Randall. They were later divorced. On July 10, 1991, she was united in marriage to Dean Smolik at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dean Smolik of Hampton; and her son, Randall Kracht and wife Kowk Kwen of Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eugene and Orlynn Fryslie.

NEW PROVIDENCE—Cynthia Jane Rogers, 47, of New Providence, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at her home from natural causes with complications of influenza. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Honey-Creek New Providence Friends Church. Interment will follow in the Bangor Cemetery south of Union. A visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Biersborn Funeral Home in Union, with family present from 5 until 7 p.m.

Cynthia was born Aug. 5, 1957, in Iowa City, the daughter of Donald M. and Jane Diane Beach Rogers. She spent her first years in rural Marshall County, attending elementary school at West Marshall School at Clemons. She finished high school in Des Moines. She attended Grand View College in Des Moines, earning a B.A. in journalism and pursued her M.A. at the University of Texas, Clear Lake, Texas. At Grand View College she pursued her interests in writing and participated in chorus and drama. Her poems received awards and publication in Lyrical Iowa and national publications. From the age of 13 until her death, Cynthia battled a brain tumor and its many complications.

Cynthia is survived by her mother, Diane Rogers of New Providence; father Donald M. Rogers of Dadeville, Mo.; three brothers, Richard S. and Cathy Rogers of Des Moines, James D. and Sherry Rogers of Franktown, Colo., and Donald G. and Teresa Rogers of Neptune, Fla.; and her paternal grandparents, Howard and Mildred Rogers of Dadeville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Linda Diane Rogers; a brother, Jeffrey Kevin Rogers; and her maternal grandparents, Chelsea and Hazel Beach.

ELDORA— Paul “Curley” Neymeyer, 77, formerly of Eldora, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Following cremation, memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Eldora United Methodist Church. Private family burial will take place at the Eldora City Cemetery at a later date. A public gathering will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Biersborn Funeral Home in Union, with family present from 6 until 8 p.m.

Paul was born June 10, 1927, in Fern, the son of Alburtus and Anna (Benton) Neymeyer. He was raised in Fern and received his education in Aplington. Curley enlisted with the U.S. Army and actively served his country during World War II in the European Theater campaign. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in Texas for a short time before moving to the Eldora and Gifford areas in 1957. Curley was married to Judy Davison on July 9, 1977, at the Eldora Methodist Church. He worked for the city of Eldora and the Hardin County Road Department before his retirement in 1987. During his free time Curley enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Eldora American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Eldora; two sons, Jerry Neymeyer of Eldora and Steve Neymeyer of Oshkosh, Wis.; two brothers, John and Mary Neymeyer of Fairbault, Minn., and Joe and Marge Neymeyer of Austinville; and sister-in-law Barb Neymeyer of Eldora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mitch; his sister, Ann Harms; and his brothers, Milton, Cal, Charles and Robert.

Ruth E. Tidman, 62, of Eldora, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Ruth was born on March 24, 1942, at home on the farm of Cecil and Grace (Trapp) Swaim, north of Hubbard. She attended school in Eldora, Missouri and Owasa, graduating from the Owasa Community School with the class of 1960. She worked briefly in Des Moines after graduating high school.

Ruth met her husband, Dennis, while in school at Owasa. They were married on Nov. 17, 1960, at the Owasa Methodist Church. Ruth lived all of her married life on the farm northeast of Hubbard until she was admitted to Scenic Manor Nursing Facility last September. She was a full-time homemaker and farm wife. She later worked off the farm at various jobs, most recently at Hoover Chiropractic in Iowa Falls. Ruth and Dennis attended many ball games in the area together. Ruth liked to read, sew, quilt and play the piano and sing gospel hymns. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard where she was active in the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday and Bible school and served on church committees.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Dennis of Eldora; two sons, Greg of Eldora, and David and wife Tara of Harrisonville, Mo.; three daughters, Deb Wykle of Hubbard, Janet of Iowa Falls, and Christi and husband David Goodman of Valley Village, Calif.; five grandchildren; her mother, Grace Swaim of Iowa Falls; mother-in-law Fern Tidman of Iowa Falls; two sisters, Joyce and husband Robert Pearce of Iowa Falls, and Lois and husband James Tidman of Steamboat Rock; one brother, Jerry Swaim of Clive; along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father.
