Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City

Leona Evelyn Roethler
Arndt was born March 22,
1912, the daughter of
William Thomas and Pauline (Blaska)
Roethler at Chickasaw
County. She attended school
in Chickasaw County. On Jan.
8, 1930, she was united in
marriage to Otto Arndt at
Alta Vista. Leona retired
from White Farm/ Oliver
after working there for 23
years. She was a member of
the Union, Saint John
Evangelical Lutheran Church,
and the Moose Lodge. Her
interests included fishing,
cooking, dancing, flower
gardening and spending time
with her family. Leona will
always be remembered as one
dear sweet lady.
Living family members
include two children, Sandra
(Darwin) Pepper of
Burlington, and Gerald
(Jean) Arndt of Osage; seven
grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Clara Yearling, and
Marian Elefsrud both of
Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by

to Charles City
in 1964. There
Don worked as a
painter and shop
blast operator
at the Oliver
White Farm Plant
for 30 years.
After the
closing of the
plant, Don
worked other
jobs in the area
until retiring
in 1999. Don was
an active member
of the
Immaculate
Conception
Church in Elma
and recently
transferred his
membership to
the Immaculate
Conception
Church in
Charles City.
Don enjoyed
playing pool,
watching
football, and
playing cards.
His passion was
his family,
whether it was
camping with
them, holidays,
or other family
events. Don was
united in
marriage to
Nancy Smith on
Sept. 23, 1995
at their home in
rural Floyd.
Don is
survived by his

James L. Reams, 90, of Charles City, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Funeral services for James L. Reams will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Sister Jennifer Rausch PBVM will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene at 3:30 p.m.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Monday with a sharing of memories at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
James Lavern Reams was born Aug. 25, 1916, the son of Arthur and Josephine (Ritter) Reams at Marble Rock. He graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1934. On Feb. 20, 1939, he was united in marriage to Virginia K. Meek at Greene. James farmed in the Marble Rock and Charles City area for his entire life. He was a member of the Senior Citizens in Charles City, and the 6-plus card club in Floyd. His interests included attending his children and grandchildren’s sports events, especially wrestling, football and softball, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, playing cards, shooting pool, farming, collecting John Deere memorabilia and, most of all, socializing and reminiscing with people.
Living family members include sons, Marcus (Eleanor) Reams, of Topeka, Kans., Robert (Diane) Reams of Charles City, William (Barbara) Reams of Nashua, and Wally (Mary Lou) Reams, Steven Reams, Michael Reams, and Curt (Carol) Reams all of Charles City; daughters, Mary Jo (Duane) Tresch of Floyd, Cheryl (Ron) Sonberg, of Charles City; 36 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three sisters, Kathryn (Malcolm) Ott of Rockford, Thelma (Bill) Ernst of Mason City, and Beverly (Dick) Graham of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Virginia of 66 years; and two sons, Russell Reams, and Richard Reams.

V.F.W.

Legion

Course.
He was
an avid
golfer

thoroughly

people.

his

joys in

waitress

Parkway
for many
years
and was
also a

Grandparent,
a job
she
truly
loved.
Marie
was a
faithful
member
of St.
John
Lutheran
Church
and
served
as
secretary
of the
Ladies
Aide and
also
helped
with the
Cradle
Roll.
She
loved
gardening,
birds
(especially
cardinals
and
hummingbirds),
making
rag rugs
and
genealogy.
There
was
always a
special
place in
her
heart
for her
long-time
dog and
companion,
Susie.

survived

She

years,

Grill in

Hampton.
Sharon
also
made
many
wedding
cakes
for the
last 38
years
and was
a
licensed
beautician.
Sharon
rejoined
the love
of her
life in
1995,
when she
met
Dennis
Breitbach,
who died
on March
6 of
this
year.
Her
hobbies
included
embroidering,
gardening,
walking,
music
and
being

school
activities.

high
school,
she
continued
her
education
at Drake
University
in Des
Moines,
and
graduated
from
Kahler
School
of
Nursing
in
Rochester,
Minn.,
in 1945.
Marion
married
Francis
“Mac”
McKay in
1946 in
Charles
City.
They
moved
frequently
while
Mac
served
with the
United
States
Air
Force
and
later
while
working
in
aerospace.
In 1993,
she
married
E.W.
“Bill”
Henke in
Charles
City.
They
spent
the
winter
months
in
Pharr,
Texas,
and
retured
to
Charles
City for
summers.
She
enjoyed
returning
to her
hometown
to visit
with all
of her
friends

classmates.

Robert Boge, 67, of Charles City, died as a result of lung cancer on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City with Rev. Carl Ries presiding. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia. Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to services.
Robert Peter Boge was born June 28, 1939, at Buena Vista, the son of Norbert and Loretta (Dean) Boge. The family moved to the Ionia area when Robert was a young man. He graduated from St. Boniface High School and then entered the U.S. Army. He served as a paratrooper with the 81st Airborne and was discharged in 1960.
Robert was married in 1962 and had two sons from this marriage. He enjoyed the time with his sons, especially the times spent roller skating and also hunting. He was employed at White Farm Equipment in Charles City for 13 years and continued farming at that time as well. He later was a heavy equipment operator for Henkel Construction in Mason City.
His hobbies included dancing, listening to country-western music, camping and riding his Honda motorcycle.
Robert is survived by two sons, Jason Boge of Rochester, Minn., and Vincent Boge of Charles City; two grandchildren, Megan and Mitchel Boge of Miami, Fla.; five sisters, Lucille Lane of Ionia, Faye Barr of Cresco, Mary Lou Richter of Ionia, Carol Goddard of Nashua and Janet Poe of Maple Grove, Minn.; and two brothers, Arnie Boge of Ionia and Dennis Boge of Charles City
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Leon Boge.

marriage
to
William
C.
Schmitt
at
Charles
City.
Oril
worked
at
Castle’s
Grocery
Store in
Charles
City for
five
years
and then
was a
full-time
farm
wife.
She was
a member
of
Immaculate
Conception
Catholic
Church
and St.
Michael’s
Church
circle.
Her
interests
included
crocheting,
embroidering,
sewing,
gardening,
cooking,
traveling
and
solving
crossword
puzzles.
She was
an avid
reader
and
enjoyed
spending
time
with her
family,
especially
the
grandchildren.

1910,
the son

Wilhelm

Wegner.
He
attended
Colwell
High
School.
He was
joined
in
marriage
to
Elaine
O’Donnell
on Oct.
11,
1939.
From
this
marriage
three
children
were
born,
Joyce
Tegtmeier
of
Charles
City;
Roger
Wegner
(wife
Helen)
of
Gretna,
NE and
Terry
Wegner
(wife
Teri) of
Charles
City.
Clarence
was a
life
long
farmer
as well
as a
dairy
farmer
for
forty
years.
He was
once
trained
as an
airplane
mechanic
and
worked
at
Oliver
Tractor
Works in
Charles
City
during
World
War II.
He was a
loving
father,
grandfather
and
great-grandfather.
His
family
loved to
be
united
with him
on any
occasion
and will
always
remember
the joy
and fun
he
imparted
to
Christmas
with a
special
guessing
games
and
friendly
jokes.
His many
interests
included
fishing,
skilled
woodworking,
welding,
gardening,
old
westerns,
reading
and
debating
politics.
He also
had a
love of
history,
family
genealogy
and was
an avid
Chicago
Cubs
fan.
Other
living
family
members
include
eleven
grandchildren
and
sixteen
great-grandchildren
covering
the
width of
the
country.
He was
preceded
in death
by his

Bible
Church
in Clear
Lake and

Methodist
church
in
Henderson,
Ill. He
began
his
ministry
at Faith
Bible
Chapel
in
August
1953,
serving
for 53
years.
His
connection
with the
parishioners
and the
community
were the
instrumental
factors
in
staying
with one
parish
for more
than
half a
century.
Pastor
Wegner
also
worked
for more
than 10
years at
Theisen’s
Home
Farm
Auto. He
was an
honorary
member
of the
V.F.W.
His
interests
included
reading,
working
as a
handyman
and
listening
to
Christian
music.

Wegner
will
always
be
remembered
as a
dedicated,
hard-working
person
at home,
church

the
community.
