ROGERS, Arkansas-Margaret West Dean, 92, of Rogers,
Arkansas, formerly of Iowa, passed away on Friday, February
2, 2007, in Rogers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., on
Saturday, February 10, at the Linn’s Funeral Chapel, Iowa
Falls, with Father Jim Dubert officiating. Inurnment will be
in the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. A time of visitation with
the family will be from noon until service time on Saturday
at the Linn’s Funeral Home.
On February 2, 2007, Margaret West Dean died and went to be
with our Lord. Margaret, the daughter of Amos and Millicent
West, was born on June 5, 1914, at Traer. She graduated from
the Malcom High School in 1931. She was very active in
declamatory and basketball all four years of high school.
She attended Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls and Drake
University in Des Moines.
Margaret taught school for
30 years in the Iowa Public School System. The last 20 years
were taught at Ballard Community at Cambridge, Iowa.
Margaret was married to
Lauren White Dean of Cedar Rapids on May 30, 1942, at St.
Patrick’s Church in Brooklyn, Iowa. She was a member of St.
Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Mother Seton Society,
Allegro and Pedal Pushers Organ Club, and several bridge
clubs.
Margaret is survived by
her son, Jim Dean of Little Rock, Arkansas; granddaughter,
Christina Guest of Arnaudville, Louisiana; grandson, Lauren
Dean of Arnaudville; four great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Doris Vogel of Riceville, Iowa and Catherine
Robinson of San Mateo, California.
She was preceded in death
by two daughters, Mary Ann and Mary Margaret in infancy; her
husband of 58 years, Lauren Dean; her son, Bill Dean; and
her sister, Mae Broders of Burbank, California.

2007, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 6, at the

Dumont Cemetery.

WILLIAMS-James Robert Smith, 83, of Williams, died on
Saturday, February 3, 2007, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday,
February 16, at the United Methodist Church in Williams. The
Surls Funeral Home of Williams is in charge of the
arrangements.
James Robert Smith, was
born on January 21, 1924, at 205 2nd St., Williams, the son
of George and Lillian (Sheldon) Smith. He received his
education in the local schools and graduated from the
Williams High School with the class of 1942. He was a
lifelong area resident of Williams, where he owned and
operated Smith Radio and T.V. He was affiliated with the
Methodist Church in Williams.
He is survived by cousins,
Violet Bode of Nicollet, Minnesota, Barbara Glynn and
husband, Ronald of Vernon Center, Minnesota, Roy Anderson
Jr. of Fairbault, Minnesota, Judy Englehart of Nicollet,
Greg Kruse of Iowa City, Wilma Adamson and husband, Harold
of Greenfield, Judy Lents and husband, Larry of Dexter and
Sharon Daut and husband, Bob of Greenfield; and many other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.

Iowa Falls and Ackley, passed away on Sunday, February 4,
2007, in her home in Mesa.
Dorothy was born on March 12, 1916, in Iowa Falls, the
daughter of John R. and Isobel Ford. She married Richard
Kruse in 1934. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, Douglas Kruse; and a grandson, Dalton
Kruse.

Helen Janes

WEBSTER CITY—Helen Janes, 86, of Webster City, died on
Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the Southfield Wellness
Community.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday,
February 19, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with the
Rev. Ryan Christenson officiating. Burial will be in the
Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours before the
service at Asbury. The funeral arrangements were made with
the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center of Webster City.
Helen Bernice Iverson, daughter of Joseph and Edith Bergeson
Iverson, was born on August 24, 1920, at Ellsworth. She
graduated from the Ellsworth High School in 1938.
On October 18, 1938, she married James Melvin Janes at
Webster City. The couple farmed in the Williams-Blairsburg
area until retirement in July of 1978, when they moved to
Webster City. Mr. Janes died on August 29, 1981. In
September of 2003, she moved to the Southfield Assisted
Living Apartments and to the Southfield Wellness Community
in February of 2005.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and
Deborah Circle.
Mrs. Janes is survived by
her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elizabeth Janes of
Ames; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Bill Fielder,
Kathy and John Larson, all of Webster City; grandchildren,
Mark and Melodi Fielder of Webster City, Lisa and Steve
Schwartzkopf of New Prague, Minnesota, Jeff and Mari Janes
of Story City, Mike and Jen Janes of LeMars, Scott and
Melissa Larson of Vining, Minnesota; 11 great-grandchildren;
sister and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bill Thomas of Ocala,
Florida and Glen Stockdale of Clear Lake; brother and
sister-in-law, Richard and Joan Iverson of Webster City; and
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her
husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and
sisters, Jean Iverson in infancy and Dorothy Stockdale.
Memorials may be given to
the Asbury United Methodist Church, Kendall Young Library or
Hamilton County Hospice/Respite.

formerly of Ackley, died on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at
the Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab in Hollister, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday,
February 18, at the Branson United Methodist Church, with
the Rev. Ross Fulton Jr. officiating. Visitation is 6–8:00
p.m., on Saturday, February 17, in the Whelchel Funeral
Chapel, Branson.
Funeral services will also be held at 11:00 a.m., on
Tuesday, February 20, at the St. John’s United Church of
Christ in Ackley, with the Rev. Charles Briem officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be
from 6-8:00 p.m., on Monday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in
Ackley. Memorials have been established to the Community
Hospice, Branson United Methodist Church or St. John’s
United Church of Christ.
Frank Boheman, was born on August 22, 1940 in Ackley, the
son of John and Nettie (Kappel) Boheman. He married Wilma
Norem on August 16, 1963, in Ackley. Frank and Wilma had
lived in the Branson area since March of 2006. They were
members of the Branson United Methodist Church and the Lions
Club.
Frank’s hobby was chip carving and he enjoyed making many
items for friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma of Branson; daughter,
Alecia Lee and husband, Steve of Tripoli; son, Greg Boheman
and wife, Lynette of Monticello; three grandsons; and a
brother, Glenn Boheman and wife, Ruthie of Ackley.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents.

IOWA FALLS—Donald E. Ruigh, 84, of Iowa Falls, died on
Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa
Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 21,
at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, with
burial in the Union Cemetery. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa
Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Donald E. Ruigh, was born on March 19, 1922 at Meservey,
the son of K. Clarence and Frieda (Waage) Ruigh. He received
his education at Meservey and graduated from the Meservey High
School with the class of 1940 and later graduated from
Hamilton College. Donald served his country with the U.S.
Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to
Patricia Jane Wilson on March 29, 1947, at Mason City.
Donald was the executive vice-president of the Citizens State
Bank in Iowa Falls, retiring in 1987. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, where he had
been involved with the choir and was past finance chairman.
Donald was very active in his community where he was a
member and past president of Rotary, member and past
commander of the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188, and
served on the Iowa Falls School Board and was past
president. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army.
Survivors include two sons, Judge Dale Ruigh and wife,
Cindy of Ames and David Ruigh and wife, Susan of Unionville,
Connecticut; two daughters, Mary Mittelstadt and husband, Mark of
East Windsor, New Jersey and Patricia Ruigh Scott of Mahtomedi,
Minnesota; grandchildren, Kathryn and Stephen Ruigh of
Cambridge, Massachusetts, Matthew and Brent Mittelstadt of East
Windsor, New Jersey and Collin and Audrey Scott of Mahtomedi,
Minnesota; two sisters, Ida Zickefoose of Severna Park,
Maryland and
Melba Muhlenbruch and husband, Howard of Hampton.
He was
preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wilson Ruigh; and a
brother, Robert Ruigh.

IOWA FALLS—Audria M. Hamilton, 77, of Iowa Falls, died on
Sunday, February 18, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m., on Friday, February 23, at the First United Methodist Church in
Iowa Falls, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be
from
4-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa College
of Nursing or the Wendy Hamilton Stroke Research Fund.
Audria M. Hamilton, was born on September 12, 1929 at Ticonic, the
daughter of Christy and Mary (Carroll) McClatchey. She
received her education at Mapleton and graduated from the
Mapleton High School with the class of 1947. She then
graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in
nursing in 1950.
She married William Hamilton on October 6,
1951, at Iowa City. Audria had worked at the University
Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa Falls Schools as school nurse
and the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital before retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Iowa Falls where she chaired the pastor-parish relations
committee, chaired the annual pork dinner and was active in
the church circle, PEO, Isabella, University of Iowa Alumni
Association, Presidents Club of the University of Iowa
Foundation and the Golden Flos.
In her free time Audria
loved to play bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs,
some for more than 50 years. She was a computer whiz who
enjoyed designing artwork, making cards and books for family
and friends. Audria’s favorite pastimes included spending
time at Clear Lake and visiting with their many dinner group
friends.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of Iowa Falls; son,
Stephen Wayne Hamilton of Fairfax Station, Virginia; daughter,
Stephanie Kay Hamilton and husband, John Alderman of Iowa
City; four grandchildren, Kristen Hamilton of Hoboken, New Jersey,
Neil Hamilton and Mackenzie Hamilton of Fairfax Station and
Mary Nell Alderman of Iowa City; sister, Mary Ann Christensen
and husband, Martin of DeKalb, Illinois; three brothers, Robert McClatchey and wife, Mary Gay of Knoxville, the Rev. Russell McClatchey and wife, Ramona of Hedgesville, West Virginia and
Richard McClatchey and wife, Lois of Lacey, Washington; and
brother-in-law, Jim Wodtke of Anthon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Wodtke;
granddaughter, Rachel Lou Alderman; and daughter-in-law, Wendy
K. Hamilton.

Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Wayne Clark officiating. Inurnment
will be in the Berlin Jackson Township Cemetery, Owasa.

arrangements.
Cleo F. Stielow, was born on August 27, 1916, on the family farm
east of Owasa, the daughter of Henry and Nellie (Crippen)
Stielow. She attended the Owasa Community Schools graduating
with the class of 1937.
On October 20, 1937, she was united in
marriage to Fred M. Ward at her parents’ home. The couple
farmed for many years and had two sons, Jack and Jerry. They
were members of the Owasa United Methodist Church. In 1964
they moved to Iowa Falls where Cleo worked for nearly 20
years at the women’s residence hall at Ellsworth Community
College.
She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church, Iowa Falls. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and
her many friends.
Cleo Ward is survived by her son, Jerry and wife, Vickii of
West Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Ward of Adel;
four grandchildren, Matthew Ward of West Des Moines, Michael
Ward and wife, Shelley of Chicago, Illinois, Jackie Ward of Des
Moines and David Ward of Tampa, Florida; and one sister, Jean
Dreier and husband, Stan of Eldora.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Fred in 1982; and her son, Jack in 1996.

ALDEN—Ronald E. Wagner, 69, of Alden, passed away on Tuesday,
February 20, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on
Friday, February 23 at the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls. Burial
will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua. Visitation will
be from 4-8:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the Linn’s Funeral
Home, Iowa Falls.
Ronald Eugene Wagner, was born on March 26, 1937 at Charles
City, the son of Harry and Alice (Cerwinske) Wagner. He
graduated from the Clarksville Community Schools with the class
of 1955. He joined the U.S. Navy serving until 1957.
On August
10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Viola M. Luchtenburg
at Horton. To this union four children were born, Dennis, Ranéé, Robin and Shelly. Ron was employed in the Maintenance
Department of Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls,
retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Faith Church,
Radcliffe, but was attending the First Christian Church,
Iowa Falls.
Ronald E. Wagner is survived by his wife, Vi Wagner of
Alden; his four children, Dennis (Cyndi) Wagner of Lincoln,
Nebraska, Ranéé (Rusty) McCargar of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Robin
(Kristie) Wagner of Lancaster, Wisconsin and Shelly (Rob) Zinszer of Omaha, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren, Whitney and Josh
Wagner of Lincoln, Nick, Maggie and Nathan McCargar of
Virginia Beach, Madison, Sydney, Devin and Hayden Wagner of
Lancaster and Dylan and Mason Zinszer of Omaha; and one
sister, Roberta (Steve) Hicks of Waverly.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Harry and Alice Wagner; and an infant
sister, Rosemary Wagner.

on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Scenic Manor Care

Funeral services are tentatively set for 10:00 a.m., on
Saturday, February 24, at the Cottage Church, rural Iowa
Falls. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is in
charge of the arrangements.
Wilma Louise Skou, was born on July 24, 1922 at Alden, the
daughter of Lou and Louise (Pingel) Skou. She graduated from
the Alden High School.
On September 27, 1941, Wilma was united in marriage to
Wallace John Gehrke at Liberty, Missouri. To this union six
children were born, Wallace, Richard, Jane, Kathryn, James
and John. She was a homemaker, a member of the Cottage
Community Church and the Ladies Aid of the Cottage Church.
Wilma L. Gehrke is survived by her three sons, Wallace
(Sandi) Gehrke of Colony, Texas, Richard and significant
other, Judy Tripp of Alden and John (Jeannette) Gehrke of
Audubon; two daughters, Jane (Herman Jr.) Mennenga of
Huntsville, Alabama and Kathryn (Rick) Lyman of Iowa Falls;
12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lou and Louise
Skou; her husband, Wallace Gehrke; her son, James Gehrke;
three sisters, Thelma Bahr Rathjen, Nova Smith and Anna
Brookshier; and one brother, Floyd Skou.

ACKLEY—Gertrude “Gert” Borchers, 81, of Ackley, died on
Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Allen Hospital in
Waterloo.

East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley, with burial in
the church cemetery. The Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley was
in charge of the arrangements.
Gertrude Borchers, was born on June 14, 1925, the daughter
of Treno and Jennie (Hinders) Evers. She was united in
marriage to Albert Borchers on September 9, 1970, at the
First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. Gert had helped her
husband on the farm and was a member of the East Friesland
Presbyterian Church at Ackley.
Gert is survived by her husband, Albert of Ackley; a sister,
Ann Borchers of Waterloo; a brother, Treno Evers and his
wife, Eunice of Waterloo; two nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,
Clarence and John Evers; and a brother-in-law, Russ Borchers.

Robert Lund was born on November 7, 1918 at Iowa Falls, the
son of Ferdinand and Margaret (Mangelsen) Lund. They lived
in Franklin County and Bob attended country grade schools
and the Iowa Falls Community Schools.
On August 8, 1959, Bob was united in marriage to Margret P.
Brown in Iowa Falls. Some time after her death, Bob was
united in marriage to Eloise Shane in Iowa Falls. During his
working life Bob was a farmhand, grocery store clerk,
superintendent of buildings and grounds for Ellsworth
Community College for more than 20 years, worked for Iowa
Prestressed Concrete, Iowa Falls for 10 years and retired on
March 1, 1982.
He volunteered with his community through also being an Iowa
Falls auxiliary policeman and a volunteer on the Iowa Falls
Volunteer Fire Department.
Bob is survived by his wife, Eloise Lund of Iowa Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and
Margret Lund; his first wife, Margaret Lund; a
sister-in-law, Iva Jacobson; and a brother-in-law, Lester
Brown.

HAMPTON—Alice Mary Miller, 85, of Hampton, died of
natural causes on Friday, February 23, 2007, at the Franklin General
Hospital in Hampton.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday,
February 27, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hampton,
with Fr. Bernard Grady, Deacon Jerome Miller and Fr. Rudolph
Juarez officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery,
Rockwell. The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton was in
charge of the arrangements.

IOWA FALLS—Fern “Nadine” Bodensteiner, 84, of Iowa Falls,
passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2007.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 2, at
the St.
Mark’s Catholic Church, Iowa Falls, with Father Peter Bodensteiner and Father Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will
be in the St. Mark’s Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Visitation will
be from 4-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the Linn’s Funeral Home,
Iowa Falls with a 5:00 p.m. Scripture Service and Rosary. In
lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for Hospice of
Central Iowa, 401 Railroad Place, West Des Moines, IA
50265-4730; or to St. Mark Parish, 415 Main St., Iowa Falls,
IA 50126. The Linn’s Funeral Homes, Iowa Falls Chapel has
been entrusted with the arrangements.
Fern Nadine Shaver, was born on April 27, 1922 at Newtown, Missouri,
the daughter of Robert and Emma (Rouse) Shaver. She
graduated from the New Providence High School with the class of
1940. She then attended Broadlawns Nursing School, Des
Moines, receiving her registered nursing degree. She worked
at the Long Beach Hospital, Long Beach, California.
On August 20,
1942, Nadine was united in marriage to Leo William Bodensteiner at San Diego, California. To this union 14 children
were born, Stephen, Jane, Angela, Marie, Susan, Daniel,
Nancy, Debra, Dianne, Peter, Elizabeth, Catherine, William
and Sarah. They farmed north of Iowa Falls for many years.
Nadine was a member of the St. Mark Parish, Iowa Falls.
Nadine Bodensteiner is survived by her children, Stephen
(Dianna) Bodensteiner, Jane Bodensteiner, Angela (Charles
“Joe”) Flickinger, Marie Bodensteiner, Susan (Steven)
Crawford, Daniel (Chong) Bodensteiner, Nancy (John) Hurt,
Debra (Kyle) Wittrup, Dianne (Mark) Miller, Peter (Kris)
Bodensteiner, Elizabeth (Clyde) Miller, Catherine (Mark)
Lloyd, William (Sherri) Bodensteiner and Sarah Bodensteiner;
24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother,
Gerald Shaver; and two sisters, Ruth (Glen) Slate and Connie
(Jim) Jelsma.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
Robert and Emma Shaver; her husband, Leo W. Bodensteiner;
four brothers, Noran Shaver, Nolan Shaver, Dwayne Shaver and
Denzil Shaver; and five sisters, Evah Dennis, Oletha Sayer,
Irene Wilhite, Leota Webb and Vera Bodensteiner.

ALDEN—Robert J. Chrisjohn, 86, of Alden, died on Sunday,
February 25, 2007, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in
Iowa Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday,
March 3, at the Immanuel Memorial UCC in Alden, with burial
in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before
the services. Military Rites will be provided by the
Collins-Dunning American Legion Post No. 201 of Alden. The
Surls Funeral Home of Alden is in charge of the
arrangements.
Robert was born on February 14, 1921 in Waterloo, the son of
Walter and Genevieve (Chance) Chrisjohn. He graduated from
the Ottumwa High School and was united in marriage to Ila
Jean Bessman on April 13, 1942, in Bethany, Missouri.
Bob entered the Army Air Corps in 1941 and flew 35 combat
missions as a B-17 Aircraft Commander over Europe during
World War II. He returned to Germany in 1946 and flew the
Berlin Airlift until its conclusion. He then returned to the
U.S. and transferred to the 132nd Wing of the Iowa Air
National Guard where he served in several positions,
including chief of aircraft maintenance and wing vice
commander. He retired in 1973 and returned to Alden to enjoy
his retired years. He was a member of the Collins-Dunning
American Legion Post No. 201 of Alden and the Lions Club.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ila Jean of Alden; a son,
Robert G. Chrisjohn of Cumming; a daughter, Barbara Allen of
Clive; three granddaughters, Stephanie Sullenbarger of
Petersburg, Kentucky, Anne Simonds of Durham, North Carolina
and Abbe Allen of Huntington Beach, California; two
grandsons, Brent Allen of Des Moines and Matt Allen of West
Des Moines; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kentucky-Juanita “Snooks” Budde, 82, of Providence,
Kentucky, died on Monday, February 26, 2007, at the Rivers
Bend Retirement Community.
A private funeral service was held at the Melton Funeral
Home in Providence, with the Rev. Rick Oakley officiating.
Entombment was in the Valhalla Memory Gardens in Belleville,
Illinois.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Campbell of Iowa
Falls.

ACKLEY—William G. Rex, 70, of Ackley, and formerly of Iowa
Falls, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at the
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, at
the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel, Iowa Falls. Burial will be
in the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock. Visitation will be
one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
William Gregory Rex, was born on September 11, 1936 at
Marble Rock, the son of Galen and Myrtle (Crabtree) Rex. He
attended the Marble Rock Community Schools. He was employed
at Berry Plastics, Iowa Falls until he was disability
retired in 1997.
William Rex is survived by one son, David; one daughter,
Cindy; one sister, Georgia Diesburg of Clear Lake; and
several nieces and nephews.
