business in 1966 when, at the age of 40, he enrolled at
Mankato State College, graduating magna cum laude in 1970
and earning a master’s degree in business education in 1971.

Max Bartlett
February 10, 1922-August 7, 2007
August 11, 2007
IOWA FALLS—Max Bartlett, 85, of Iowa Falls, passed away on
Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at his home.
Funeral (Celebration of Life) services will be held at 11:00
a.m., on Saturday, August 11, at the First Christian Church,
Iowa Falls. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m., on
Saturday, at the church for a short scripture service
followed by a 10:00 a.m. burial at the Northlawn Memory
Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa
Falls Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Max Rowley Bartlett, son of Frank and Ellen Sabina (Rowley)
Bartlett, was born on February 10, 1922 at Perry. He moved
with his parents from Perry to begin farming in the Iowa
Falls area. He attended the Perry Community Schools,
graduating with the class of 1940.
On January 1, 1948, Max was married to Donna Rotzler at the
Open Bible Church, Iowa Falls. Three sons were born to this
blessed marriage. Max farmed southwest of Iowa Falls until
his semi-retirement in 1976. He served on the County Zoning
Board and Alden Cooperative Elevator Board. Max was a member
of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Iowa
Falls, where he served as chairman of the congregation and
an elder for many years. In 2006, he was privileged to be
given the title of Elder Emeritus.
Max died peacefully in his home during hospice care
surrounded by his beloved family. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Frank and Ellen Bartlett; his brothers,
Norris and Meade Bartlett; and his sister, Hortense Dodds.
Max Bartlett is survived by his wife, Donna
Bartlett of Iowa Falls; sons, Steven (Janet) Bartlett of
Fort Dodge, Paul (Linda) Bartlett of Iowa Falls and Kelly
(Janet) Bartlett of Charlotte, North Carolina; 16
grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy, Joseph, Seth, Adam, Micah,
Daniel, Andrew, Rachel, Grace, Ethan, Jon, Josh, Lyndon,
Lawson and Annie; and 16 great-grandchildren.
As a husband, father and
grandfather, Max will be missed. But the way Max lived his
life while on this earth will not only be remembered; it
will live on as an example of how we, too, should live. Max
lived each day as it came. In good seasons and bad, he found
contentment only by placing his faith in God. He did not see
himself as someone who could boast; but rather, as someone
in need of a Savior. That Savior, Jesus Christ, made all the
difference for Max.
Together with Donna, his
traveling companion for life, Max saw the world. Max would
describe amazing adventures to all who would listen. But
most amazing of all to Max was the love of his family and
land to farm. When the Lord of his life called him home to
heaven, Max was ready. It wasn’t that he wanted to leave his
friends, family or the land he loved, but he was ready to
receive the inheritance kept in heaven for him. This
inheritance can’t be destroyed of corrupted. It will never
fade away (1 Peter 1:4).
Max now enjoys this
inheritance-eternal life in splendor and majesty because of
Jesus Christ. Max fought the good fight of faith (1 Timothy
6:12). He would want us to do the same.
