Cresco, IA were held at 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Burr Oak
Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, IA with Rev.
Matt Larson officiating. Interment was in
Burr Oak Cemetery.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Friday,
January 30 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church
and for one hour prior to services at the
church.

Connie, 47, died Tuesday, January 27,
2009 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in
Decorah.
Connie Wilson was born June 13, 1961 in
Harmony, MN the daughter of Darrell and
Vivian (Lovstuen) Vine. She was baptized at
the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and confirmed
at the Mabel First Lutheran Church. In 1979
she graduated from the Mabel-Canton High
School and then from the legal secretary
program at the Winona Technical College.
On June 18, 1983 she married Michael
Wilson at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church.
Connie had worked at the Aase Haugen Home
for a total of 19 years and had also worked
at the Good Samaritan and the Howard County
Residential Care Facility.
Connie enjoyed gardening, reading,
walking, decorating, and being involved in
her children's activities.
Connie is survived by her husband
Michael of Cresco; two daughters: Megan
(Shawn) Merkel of Spring Valley, MN and
Leigh (special friend Dustin Myers) of New
Hampton, IA; a son: Ross of Cresco; parents:
Darrell and Vivian Vine of Mabel; three
sisters: Carrie (David) Swenson of Mabel,
Brenda (Dan) Tollefson of Burnsville, MN,
and Diane (Don) Tollefsrud of Mabel, MN;
maternal grandmother: Velva Lovstuen of Burr
Oak; brother-in-law: Randy (Pam) Wilson of
St. Cloud, MN; three sisters-in-law: Myrna
Wilson and Connie (Dennis) Ihns, both of
Decoarh, and Diane (Steve) Eiken of Prosper,
MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
maternal grandfather: Alert Lovstuen;
paternal grandparents: Theodore and Myrtle
Vine; mother and father-in-law: Gerald and
Evelyn Wilson; and brother-in-law: Larry
Wilson.

Marilyn Ott of Cresco, IA was held at 11:00
a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Notre
Dame Parish in Cresco with Rev. Richard J.
Ament officiating. Lector was Jerry
O'Donnell. Gifts were carried by Bernadette
Nosbisch, Rose Ann Valvoda, Marvis Weaklen
and Mary Skoda. Eurcharistic ministers were
Janet Andera, Margaret Burkett and Jerome
Nibaur. Organist was Suzanne Ollendick and
song leader was Bootie Kapler. Pallbearers
were: Steve Dralle, Steve Darrah, Andy
Barber, Steve Darrah, Jr, John Lindsey,
Randy Swatek, and Rand Renner. Interment was
in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco.

Marilyn, 77, died Wednesday, January 21,
2009 at Regional Health Services of Howard
County in Cresco.
Anita Marilyn Ott was born December 8,
1931, in Rochester, MN, the daughter of
Clarence E. and Aletta (Bronner) Darrah. She
graduated from Elma High School.
On June 24, 1950, she married Francis
"Buzz" Ott at the Immaculate Conception
Rectory in Elma, IA. Marilyn worked as a
Nurses Aide at the Evans Memorial Home and
was a Co-administrator along with her
husband for many years at the Howard
Residential Care Facility. She belonged to
the Care Facility Auxillary, Hospital
Auxillary, Wa Tan Ye Past Presidents, and
Historical Society. She was active in many
church activities such as the Altar and
Rosary Society, sacristan, greeter, usher,
and was a Eucharist Minister, taking
communion to nursing homes and shut-ins. She
volunteered delivering meals on wheels. She
was an avid bowler and participated in many
tournaments. In later years she started
golfing.
Marilyn enjoyed playing cards and
belonged to two card clubs and various
coffee groups. She enjoyed visiting and
especially enjoyed spending time with her
family, grandchildren and her two pugs,
Major and Princess.
She is survived by her son: James (Anne)
Ott of Cresco; her daughter: Kay (Rick)
Forsythe of Manassas, VA; four
grandchildren: Amy Ott, Andy (Missy Rush and
her children: Cody and Dalton Rush) Ott,
Danielle (Nathan) Garrett and Erica
Forsythe; two great-grandchildren; Abigail
Ott and Lana Garrett; and one brother: James
(Deanna) Darrah of Waverly, IA.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her
husband in July of 1998; and her parents.

Wilson of Cresco, IA were held at 10:00 a.m.
on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Notre Dame
Church in Cresco. Interment was in Calvary
Cemetery in Cresco.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m.
Friday, January 23 at the Conway Funeral
Home in Cresco with a rosary at 4:30 p.m.
and a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m.

Colletta, 90, died Tuesday, January 20,
2009 at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco.
Colletta Mary Wilson was born October
15, 1918 in Howard County, IA, the daughter
of Charles and Pearl (Sweeney) O'Brien. She
attended elementary school in Lourdes and
graduated from Cresco High School in 1937.
She attended Cedar Falls Teachers College
and taught for many years in country schools
in Howard County. She worked for 25 years as
cashier at the Cresco IGA. She served as
secretary for the Paris Township Trustees
and was a long time member of the Election
Board. She was a member of the Assumption
Catholic Church and active in the Altar and
Rosary Society.
On May 1, 1945 she married Floyd Wilson
at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in
Minneapolis, MN. They farmed for many years
in Howard County.
Colletta is survived by two sons: Dean
(Mary Griffin) Wilson of Knoxville, IA,
Dennis (Vickie Guzman) Wilson of Iowa City,
IA; and two grandchildren: Darin (Ashley)
Wilson of Davenport, IA and Renae (Jacob)
Swayne of Knoxville, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband
on June 8, 1982; her parents; two sisters:
Marcella Moser and Bernadette Fogarty; and
one brother: Gervase O'Brien.
George G. Melver, 54, died Wednesday,
January 14, 2009 at the Regional Health
Services of Howard County in Cresco. It was
George's wishes to donate his body to
Medical Science. No funeral services were
held.
George Gary Melver was born December 10,
1954 the son of George W. and Francis
(Morgan) Melver in Lawton, OK. He graduated
from North Winneshiek Schools. He worked at
Featherlite and Rawhide, as well as a few
other places. He was a good worker and
friend.
He is survived by his wife: Bonnie; a
son: Shain Stevens; three stepchildren:
Angie, John, and Steve Fulton; five
grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother;
a daughter: Melinda; and a brother: John
Dee.
Funeral services for Nellie E. Erickson
of Harmony, MN were held at 2:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Greenfield
Lutheran Church in Harmony. Interment will
be held in the spring at Crown Hill Cemetery
in Preston, MN.

"Joe" G. Neubauer of Cresco, IA was held at
11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009 at
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in
Lourdes, IA with Rev. Ray E. Atwood
officiating. Music accompanist was Tim Sir
and vocalist was Mollie Sir. Readers were:
Jerry O'Donnell, Holly Resner and Chuck
Phllips. Gifts were carried by Sharon Aukes,
Betty Ehler, Sandra Marzolf, Todd Fye, and
Darren O'Donnell. Eucharistic ministers were
Don Recker and Barb O'Donnell. Honorary
pallbearers were: Galen Fye, Manly Bigalk,
Dave Drtina, Roger Rodden, Pat Wilson, Wayne
Riniker and all Joe's nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: Dan Neubauer, Bob
Phillips, Mike O'Donnell, Jim, O'Donnell,
Darren O'Donnell, Tom Fye, Brian Recker,
Sean Bucheit, and Joe Stover. Interment was
in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes.

Joe, 67, died Wednesday, January 28,
2009 at Regional Health Services of Howard
County in Cresco.
Joseph G. Neubauer was born January 9,
1942, in Cresco, IA, the son of Joseph and
Dora (Capouch) Neubauer. At the age of nine,
Joe went to live with his uncle, Tony
Neubauer, who had been disabled during World
War I. Joe attended country schools in the
Maple Leaf area and graduated from eighth
grade from Howard No. 7 country school. Joe
was a 1960 graduate of Cresco High School,
where he participated in football, track,
and wrestling. He was a member of the 1960
state championship wrestling team, and was a
two time place winner in state track in the
800 meter run. Joe joined the U.S. Army
Reserve in 1963. He farmed his Uncle Tony's
farm from 1966 to 1985, and worked with his
father and brother, Lloyd, on the family
farm. He was also employed at Boos Implement
at Davis Corners from 1984 to 2006.
On February 5, 1966, he married Ann
O'Donnell at Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church in Elma, IA. To this union two sons
were born, Joe and Tony.
Joe was a member of the Cresco American
Legion. He took great pride in his lawn and
garden, enjoyed collecting John Deere
tractors, and collecting coins. He enjoyed
following NASCAR driver, Jimmie Johnson and
loved exploring the Lowe's store that his
son, Joe, manages. Watching both of his sons
participate in sports was one of Joe's
greatest joys, and in later years he enjoyed
watching the Crestwood girls' basketball and
softball teams that his son, Tony, coaches.
Joe treasured the times that he spent with
his grandson, Joey, and loved all of the
times that he and his family were able to
enjoy together.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ann
Neubauer of Cresco; two sons: Joe Neubauer
and his wife, Rhonda, and their son, Joey,
of Springfield, IL and Tony Neubauer of
Cresco; a sister: Geraldine Phillips and her
husband, Ben, of Granger, MN; two brothers:
Virgil Neubauer of Parkersburg and Lloyd
Neubauer and friend Meg of Lime Springs; one
aunt: Viola Capouch of Cresco; two cousins:
David Capouch and his wife, Mary, of Cresco
and Mary Jo Ganske of Ames; brothers-in-law
and sisters-in law: Russell and Margaret
O'Donnell of Elma, Maralyn and Jerry Welsh
of Lansing, Gerald and Barb O'Donnell of
Cresco, Lavon and Galen Fye of Cresco, Lois
and Don Recker of Mankato, MN, and Mary and

He married

1958. They
enjoyed 50 years
of marriage.
Duane worked
in retail dairy
delivery for 11
years. He also
worked for AAA
Motor Club of
Iowa for 20
years. He
retired from AAA
in 1992. After
retirement he
drove school bus
for nine years.
Duane had a
great love of
the outdoors. He
enjoyed fishing,
hunting, and
spending time at
his home farm.
He also liked to
travel. Duane
was a member of
the First
Lutheran Church
in Cresco his
entire life, and
was on the board
of Oak Lawn
Cemetery for
many years.
He was very
proud of his
children, Kirk
and Lori, and
enjoyed being
with them and
his
grandchildren.

driving his No.
50 race car at
several tracks
in NE Iowa. He
loved fishing,
attending
auctions,
tinkering with
just about
anything, going
to dances and
spending time
with family and
friends. He was
a member of the
local American
Legion and VFW
Posts.

1915, the
daughter of

on the family
farm in Butler
County, near
Packard, IA. She
was baptized and
confirmed in
1928 at the
United Church of
Christ, Pleasant
Valley. She
received her
education at the
Shady Dell
country school
in Dayton
Township.
Elda met
Carl Wilken
while attending
church and they
were in the same
confirmation
class. On August
12, 1934, they
were united in
marriage. They
farmed in the
Pleasant Valley
area for 33
years. In 1967,
they
discontinued
farming. Carl
passed away
March 14, 1968.
Elda moved
to her home in
Plainfield in
1968. She
operated the
Waverly Sales
lunch counter
for two years,
worked for the
Wartburg Food
Service for one
and then
returned to
operate the sale
lunch counter.
In 1971, she
met John R.
Rodamaker of
Charles City, IA
and they were
married
September 1,
1972. John
passed away
September 12,
2000.
In the
spring of 2001,
Elda moved to an
apartment in
Nashua and in
2005 she moved
in with her
eldest daughter,
Jeanette, where
she stayed until
she was
hospitalized and
could no longer
live at home. In
May of 2007, she
became a
resident of the
Community
Nursing Home in
Clarksville.
Elda is
survived by four
daughters:

A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard W. Bullerman of Calmar, IA was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Lector was Vernelle Holthaus and offertory giftbearers were: Vernelle Holthaus, Judy Lansing and Sue Hannasch. Organist was Alan Sensor and soloist was Tom Hannasch. St. Aloysius choir sang "Here I Am, Lord", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "Heart of Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art". Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildrren. Pallbearers were: Ken Bullerman, Ron Bullerman, Joe Bullerman, Dan Bullerman, Ken Lansing, and Tom Hannasch. Interment was in St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery in Calmar with military rites by Halverson-Giesen American Legion Post #266 in Calmar.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and one hour prior to services at the church.

Leonard, 91, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA.
Leonard William Bullerman was born April 27, 1917 on the family farm south of Calmar, IA the son of Joseph and Catherine (Timp) Bullerman. Leonard was baptized in his Catholic faith at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar where he received his education. Leonard is a veteran of World War II where he served in the European Theatre, North Africa, Algiers in the Battle of Kasserine Pass, and Italy (Anzio Beach, Cassino, Poe Valley) where he was tank commander with the 805th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with five Battle Stars and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster during the 32 months he spent overseas.
On June 3, 1946 he married Irma Schmitt at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, IA. To this union seven children were born: Vernelle, Kenneth, Judy, Ronald, Joseph, Daniel, and Susan. Leonard and Irma started farming west of Calmar in 1946, moved to a family farm south of Calmar in 1951, then to a farm west of Calmar in 1973, and retired to their current home in Calmar in 1986.
Leonard enjoyed farming, being out doors, playing cards, dancing, visiting with friends and neighbors, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a life-long member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, St. Aloysius Rosary Society and was a member of the Halverson-Giesen American Legion Post #266 of Calmar.
Leonard is survived by his wife: Irma Bullerman of Calmar; three daughters: Vernelle Holthaus of Hawkeye, IA, Judy (Kenneth) Lansing of Ossian, IA, and Sue (Tom) Hannasch, Apple Valley, MN; four sons: Kenneth (Janet) Bullerman, Ronald (Norma) Bullerman, Joseph (Marcia) Bullerman, and Daniel Bullerman, all of Calmar; 22 grandchildren: Lori and Dana Litterer, Leslie and Tony Becker, Gary Holthaus, Kelly and Kim Holthaus, Lynn and George Nelson, Marcus Holthaus, Travis and Tonya Holthaus, Julie, Mark, Kelli and Chris Bullerman, Shawn and Leah Lansing, Shelby, Shane, and Megan Lansing, Adam & Kim Bullerman, Amy & Jamie Hammersland, Ryan & Renee Bullerman, Matthew and Heather Bullerman, Robert and Alyssa Bullerman, Maria Hannasch and John Hannasch; 12 great-grandchildren: Jason Holthaus, Nathan Litterer, Ethan and Ava Holthaus, Caleb Nelson, Lauren Holthaus, Keanna and Collin Lansing, Blake Bullerman, Owen Hammersland, Gavin Bullerman and Isaac Bullerman; one sister: Kathryn Uhlenhake of Ossian; two sisters-in-law: Leona Bullerman of Calmar and Josephine Bullerman of Decorah; and several nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Catherine (Timp) Bullerman; two brothers: Raymond Bullerman and Vincent Bullerman; two brothers-in-law: Hugo Zweibohmer and Ray Uhlenhake; two sisters: Angela Zweibohmer and Helen Bullerman; and a son-in-law, Loren Holthaus.
Funeral services for Donald H. Baker of Mabel, MN were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak with Rev. Matt Larson officiating. Interment was in Burr Oak Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel, MN handled the arrangements.
Donald, 77, died suddenly Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA.
Donald H. Baker was born September 2, 1931 in Decorah, IA the son of Charles and Florence (Harvey) Baker. He graduated from the Harmony High School in 1949.
He started farming with his father until 1952 when he married Joyce
Breitsprecher in Burr Oak, IA. They lived in Hesper, IA where he started his career in carpentry. In 1965 they moved to Cedar Rapids, IA where he continued his carpentry career until retiring in 1996 and moving to Mabel where they have resided since.
Don loved playing cards, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his wife Joyce of Mabel; three daughters: Sandy
(David) Ott of Cedar Rapids, Debbie (Dean) Archer of Swisher, and Tammy (Bryan) Willcoxson of Onalaska, WI; a son: Todd (Angie) of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three brothers-in-law: Bob (Eileen) Breitsprecher, Jerry Breitsprecher, and Miles Breitsprecher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters:
Joyce Ringoen and Charlene Baker.
