Louie Peter

Funeral services for Louie Peter were held at 10:30 a.m. September 5, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco with the Rev. Bruce Hobert officiating. Interment was in New Oregon Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Louie died September 4, 1996, at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco at the age of 86.

Louie A. Peter was born February 10, 1910, in Howard County, Iowa, the son of Adolf and Caroline (Schultz) Peter. He spent his childhood on the farm at Vernon Springs where he also attended the rural school. Louie was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran and was a life long member.

On February 22, 1936, he married Alice Berber. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1942. On January 20, 1945, he married Marjorie Sims and she preceded him in death on February 24, 1994.

As a young man, Louie worked for various farmers in the area and thn farmed on the home farm until 1968 when he and Marjorie moved to Cresco. He then worked for Howard County and also drove school bus.

Surviving him are his children: Jack of Onalaska, WI, Gayland of Cresco, Gelene Gunhus of Cresco, Kareen Jacobson of New Prague, MN, Louie Jr. of Rochester, MN, and Linda Harvey of Marion, along with 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Edward of Kanarraville, UT.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Alcie and Marjorie; three brothers and five sisters.


Douglas D. Ruggeberg

Funeral services for Douglas D. Ruggeberg were held at 10:30 a.m., September 7, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco with The Rev. Bruce Hobert and Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery where military rites were conducted by the Cresco American Legion and VFW posts. Lindstrom Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Douglas D. Ruggeberg was born July 3, 1973, at Cresco, the son of Darrell and Mrian (Hass) Ruggeberg. He graduated from Crestwood HighSchool in 1992. He entered the Army in September of 1992 and stationed in Texas. He was injured in a construction accident on July 3, 1993, and then retired from the service in September of 1993.

While in the service he married Carri Schlatter onDecember 25, 1992, at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco. His ilness required respite care for the last week and he was transferred from his there to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN, where he died September 4, 1996, at the age of 23.

He is survived by his wife, Carri; his parents; Darrell and Marian Ruggeberg of Lime Springs; brothers, Dary Lee of Dallas, TX, Dana of Lime Springs and Daryn of Rochester, MN; one sister, Kim McKenzie of LeRoy, MN; his maternal grandfather, Wilbert Hass of Wheatland; and his paternal grandmother, Nadine Ruggeberg of Tipton.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and his paternal grandfather.


Kenneth Hovden

Services for Kenneth Hovden were held at 2:00 p.m. September 8, at the Madison Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. The Rev. Phillip Olson and Ginny Olson, Associate in Ministry officiated. Interment was in Madison Lutheran Church. Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth, 92, died suddenly at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital on September 5, 1996.

Kenneth was born in Ridgeway on November 28, 1903, the son of Gilbert O. and Elena (Nelson) Hovden. He was baptized December 13, 1903, at the Madison Lutheran Church and confirmed his faith on May 26, 1918, also at the Madison Lutheran Church where he was a life long member and at the time of his death was the oldest living male member.

On December 28, 1927, he married Olga A. Simonson at the Madison-Lincoln parsonage. He and Olga farmed in Lincoln and Madison Townships all their lives.

He is survived by three daughters: Shirlee Neubauer of Decorah, and Rosemary Vopava and Lila McCormick, both of Ridgeway; two sons, Virgil of Cresco and Roger of Decorah; 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga, one daughter, Janet Fisher; three grandchildren; and one sister, Rose.


Nora Clink

Funeral services for Nora Clink will be held today, Wednesday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul 's Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. The Rev. Bernard Oebser will officiate. Interment will be in the Fremont Cemetery, rural Harmony. Conway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nora, 94, died Saturday, October 5, 1996, at the Howard County Hospital in Cresco.

Nora Josephine Clink was born June 23, 1902, at Dunn County, WI, the daughter of Lewis and Emma (Sanders) Johnson. She moved to Howard County with her parents in 1907 where she attended rural school.

On August 6, 1925, she was married to William Allen Clink at the Norwegian Lutheran Parsonage in Cresco. They lived on a farm near Plymouth Rock before moving to the the farm in Frmont township where they lived until Nora moved into Lime Springs. The last years, Nora spent with her son and daughter-in-law at Pequot Lakes, MN, before moving to Colonial Manor in Elma.

She was active in church organizaitons and belonged to the Neighbors Club and the Christian Women's Club.

She is survived by her son, Charles; numorus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one great-grandson; her parents; and one sister.


Viola Klozbach

Funeral services for Viola Klotzbach were held at 1:00 p.m., September 9, at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. The Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen officiated. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery. French and Balik Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Viola, 63, died September 6, 1996.

Viola was born May 21, 1933, the daughter of William Wesley and Laura (Riekman( Knutz in rural Chester. She attended the Chester and Lime Springs schools of Howard County.

On November 21, 1959, she and LeRoy W. Klotzbach were married in Caledonia, MN. The couple lived in Howard and Winneshiek Counties and currently in the Decorah area.

Viola is survivied by her chldren: Pat Hutchinson of St. Ansgar, Dale Flotz ofDecorah, Duane Foltz of Ossian, Mike Foltz of Waco, TX, Larry Klotzbach of Cedar Rapids, and Irene Laherty of Las Vegas, NV; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Olson of New Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, April 1986; her parents; two brothers and two sisters.


Mayme Doubek

Funeral services for Mayme Doubek will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, September 25, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. The Rev. Allen M. Schmitt will officiatin. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Conway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mayme, 88, of Protivin, died Sunday September 22, 1996, at the Cresco Care Center.

Mayme M. Doubek was born March 23, 1908 in Howard Counmty near Protivin the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Hovarka) Komarek. She attended the rural school.

On June 9, 1925, she married James Doubek at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin.

Mayme was active in both civic and church activities. She received the Volunteer Award from the Governor in May of 1990.

She is survived by two daughters: Delores Dunt of Washburn and Lorraine Vopava of Protivin; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

Mayme was preceded in death by her husband, James; one son, Eugene; one grandchild; one sister, Sophie Berka; and two brothers, Joseph and Adolphy Komarek.


Frances Hageman

Funeral services for Frances Hageman, 78, of Calmar were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. Interment was in the chu rch cemetery. French Funeral Home in Calmar was in charge of arrangements.

Frances died Friday, September 13, 1996 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, after a short illness.

She is survivied by her husband, Leonard, of Cresco; three daughters, Carol Hubka of Cresco, Jane Theis of Carver, MN, Doris Severson of Forest Lake, MN; five sons, Albert of Ft. Atkinson, Gerald of Storm Lake, DAvid of Decorah, Mike of Ft. Atkinson, and Jim of Ft Atkinson; eight brothers, Edward Andera of Ft. ATkinson, Albert Andera of Cresco, Louis Andera of Ft. Atkinson, Frank Andera of Spillville, Matt Andera of Calmar, William Andera of Lawler, Robert Andera of Cresco and Lawrence Andera of Decorah; and two sisters, Marcella Hayek of Spillville and Mary Soukup of Decorah.


Blake Joseh Rosonke

Blake Joseh Rosonke, one year old infant son of Joseph and Jean Rosonke, died Thursday, September 25, 1996, in Rochester, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathlic Church in New Hampton, with the Rev. Marvin Salz celebrating the Mass. The Pall was placed on the casket by his parents and sister, Breanne; LEctor was Keith Weigel and Leonard and Norma Rosonke assisted as Eucharistic Ministers. Interment was held in St. Mary's Cemetery in New Hampton with Blake's cousins, Michell, Melissa, Tuyler, Calbe, Katie Rosonke, Jeremy, Kyle and Travis Bouska, acting as pall bearers.

Blake was born August 3, 1995.

He is survivied by his parents, Joseph and Jean (Pecinovsky) Rosonke; one sister, Breanne; grandparents, LaVonne Rosonke of New Hampton, David and Connie Pecinovsky of Protivin, Margaret Blak of Dorchester.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Francis Rosonke.

Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
