Funeral services for Floyd G. Momberg, formerly of Charles City, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C in Orchard, with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating. The family will greet guests one hour prior to services at the church. A military memorial will follow the service at the Orchard Cemetery with honorary military rites conducted by the Osage American Legion Post 278.

There will be a luncheon at the Osage American Legion following the burial. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Francis Clare Rouse Sr., formerly of Charles City and a Quartermaster Chief Petty Officer — USN retired, passed away at home in East Palo Alto, Calif., on Sept. 3, 2010, at the age of 89.

A rosary will be held today (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1425 Bay Road, EPA. A second rosary will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by remembrances, with Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Menlo Park.

Vernon was born in Rockford, but grew up in the community of Floyd. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd following the service.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 410 Patrick St., Dougherty, with the Rev. James Wm. Dubert as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Dougherty where military honors will be provided by the Hogan Brislin American Legion Post 354.

Visitation was held on Sunday at St. Patrick’s gymnasium where a Scriptural Wake service was held and a Rosary was said. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass on Monday.

Edwin Gale Waid, formerly of Floyd, died Sept. 19, 2010, in Fredrickburg, Texas.

Edwin was born June 13, 1927, at Floyd to Samual H. and Florence L. Waid.

He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Calhoun, three nieces and a nephew. He was pre-deceased by his wife Susan, his parents, a brother Douglas, a nephew and a brother-in-law.

Edwin’s cremains will be interred in the Riverside Cemetary in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Larry Gelner will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7 p.m. followed by the reciting of the Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.
