Paul Jones, Sr., 53, of Lake Monroe, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at his parent’s home in Charles City while courageously fighting pancreatic cancer.
In celebration of Paul’s life the family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. There will be a Scripture Service and time of sharing memories at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Paul Everett Jones, Sr., was born Sept. 9, 1956, at Welch, W.Va, the son of C. Columbus and Shirley (Jackson) Jones and was raised by Shirley and his step father Larry Rouse. He attended school at Niles, Mich. and later received his GED. Paul served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Over the years he worked as a truck driver for various companies. His interests included restoring his 1971 Ford Torino 500, watching NASCAR and his favorite football team the Bengals. After his diagnosis, he came to Charles City where he could be close to his family and be cared for by his parents. Paul will always be remembered as a loving father, son, grandfather and brother. Living family members include a son, Paul (Michelle) Jones, Jr., of Waverly; a daughter, Nichole Jones, of Waverly; a brother, Eugene Jones, of Lake Monroe, Fla.; a sister, Linda Sisson, of Waukee; five grandchildren: Triston, Erikah, Mikah, Keagan and Adelyn Jones; a half sister, Jennifer Mclaughlin; two half brothers, Matthew Rota and Charlie Jones; a step brother, Rodney Rouse; a nephew, Joslin; and three nieces, Lacey, Brandy and Emily.
