Edwin Gale Waid, formerly of Floyd, died Sept. 19, 2010, in Fredrickburg, Texas.

Edwin was born June 13, 1927, at Floyd to Samual H. and Florence L. Waid.

He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Calhoun, three nieces and a nephew. He was pre-deceased by his wife Susan, his parents, a brother Douglas, a nephew and a brother-in-law.

Edwin’s cremains will be interred in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Larry Gelner, Sr., 81, of Charles City, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

A funeral Mass for Larry Gelner will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7 p.m. followed by the reciting of the Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.

A celebration of life service for Hap will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Rhoda Preston of the Ventura United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Cantrell Cemetery in Cantrell. Lloyd Charles Chambers, 74, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against colon cancer, in Benson, Ariz., on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010.

Military committal services, with honors, will be held at the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, Ariz., at a later date. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held in Iowa on Father’s Day, June 19, 2011.

Lloyd was a loving husband, father, and friend who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorial contributions, in his memory, can be sent to organizations who research the prevention and cure of cancer.
