June Meester

June Meester, age 88, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of
Harry and Francis (Berends) Klosterboer on December 7, 1916 in Pleasant
Valley Township, rural Grundy County, Iowa. When she was two years old,
her mother died and she went to live with her grandparents. When they
could no longer care for her, she lived with her aunts in Stout. She
received her education in the schoolhouse near her home. June was
married briefly to Roy Decknadel and he was killed during World War II.
On March 6, 1950, June was united in marriage with Elmer Meester at
June’s home in Stout. They made their home and farmed south of
Parkersburg. They retired from farming in 1978 and moved to Parkersburg.
June became a resident of the Maple Manor Care Center, Aplington, in
April, 2004. June was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout, where
she was active in the Women’s Guild and the Prayer Club. She enjoyed
traveling, especially on bus tours, and took several trips to Arizona.
June and Elmer joined a senior’s bowling league together. She enjoyed
playing cards with friends and doing a little gardening. June also
collected porcelain dolls and bells and liked making ceramics. June died
Monday, April 18, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls,
Iowa, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer
Meester on January 24, 1984; her parents and a half brother, John Ray
Klosterboer. June is survived by three sons, Roland Meester of
Parkersburg, Iowa; Wendell (Brenda) Meester, Parkersburg, Iowa and Myron
Meester of Parkersburg, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Ryan and Ranae Meester;
Stacy (Mike) Ascher; Jason Meester, Angela Barrett and Jenny Barrett,
Travis, Timothy, Taylor and Kayla Meester. Funeral Services were held at
10:30 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Reformed Church of Stout in
Stout, Iowa with Rev. David Powers officiating. Organist & Pianist were
Elaine Schnell and Darlys Weise. Vocalist Stan Thompson sang “He Touched
Me.” Congregational Hymns were “In the Garden” and “Blessed Assurance.”
Casketbearers were her grandsons Ryan Meester, Mike Ascher, Jason
Meester, Travis Meester, Tim Meester and Taylor Meester. Honorary
Casketbearers were her Granddaughters Stacy Ascher, Ranae Meester,
Angela Barrett, Jenny Barrett and Kayla Meester. Interment was in Oak
Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home,
Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to

Flossie Meester

Flossie Meester, age 99, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born January 15,
1906, near Buck Grove in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolf B.
and Bauke Heerts Junker. She received her education in Pleasant Valley
Township. On February 23, 1927, Flossie was united in marriage to
Clarence Meester at the home of her parents. The couple farmed south of
Parkersburg until they moved to Parkersburg in 1956. Clarence passed
away November 12, 1973. Flossie resided in her home until a hip fracture
in June of 1999, and then made her home with her daughter. In January
2004, she entered the Grundy Long Term Care Center. Flossie was a member
of the Reformed Church of Stout and attended faithfully as long as her
health permitted. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, crocheting, and
spending time with her family. On Saturday, April 16, 2005, Flossie died
at the Grundy Long Term Care Center, Grundy Center, Iowa, of natural
causes, reaching the age of 99 years and three months. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Clarence, a grandson, Mervin Glen Wiese, her
parents, three brothers Ben, John, and Edd Junker, eight sisters
Johanna, Rudene, and Carrie Junker, Minnie Hook, Frauke Hook, Reka Sents,
Hattie Ludeman, and Henrietta Meester. Flossie is survived by her two
daughters, Lois and her husband Elvin Wiese, and Irma and her husband
Paul Schipper both of Parkersburg; five grandchildren: Jane (Denny)
Dodd, Melinda (Tom) Greiner, Sandra (Dean) Bakker, Bonnie (Rod) Wessels,
and Bryan (Brenda) Schipper, fourteen great-grandchildren, one
great-great-granddaughter, and one sister-in-law June Meester. Funeral
Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the
Reformed Church of Stout, Stout, Iowa with Rev. David Powers fficiating.
Organist and Pianist were Elaine Schnell and Darlys Wiese. Soloist Mark
Hubbard sang “Until Then”. Congregational Hymns were “Saved by Grace”
and “What a Day That Will Be.” Honorary Casketbearers were her
Great-Granddaughters Andrea Dodd, Sarah Greiner, Kerstin Greiner,
Lindsay Bakker, Amanda Bakker and Angie Hubbard. Casketbearers were her
Great-Grandsons, Aaron Dodd, Austin Dodd, Michael Greiner, Kurt Wessels
Dallas Wessels, Mark Schipper, Clint Schipper and Scott Schipper.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz
Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may
be directed to the family.
Harry W. Card

Harry W. Card, 87, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away April 23, 2005, at the
Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. He was born September 24,
1917, in Dumont, Iowa to Harry and Minettie (Ahrens) Card. He was
educated in the rural Butler County Country Schools. He married
Elizabeth M. (Betty) Stewart on January 1, 1940, in Bristow, Iowa. He
worked as a farmer, and also worked at the Franklin County Highway
Department. Harry was affiliated with the West Fork United Methodist
Church of rural Sheffield. He enjoyed fishing, observing nature,
vegetable & flower gardening, being outside and enjoyed spending time
with his grandchildren. Harry is survived by his wife Elizabeth M.
(Betty) Card of Hampton, son Jim & wife Jan Card of Hampton, daughter
Carol & husband Bill Long of West Des Moines, sister Lorraine Manatt of
Hampton, sister Oneta Stackhouse of Hampton, sister Overna (Tootie) Card
of Hampton, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Harry was
preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral
services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the West
Fork United Methodist Church, rural Sheffield, with Rev. Sam Lee
officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Jeanette Collins
accompanying soloist Dawn Groszkruger. The ushers were Donovan Worley
and Wallace Kreimeyer. Pallbearers were Jay Ennis, Cory Card, Kyle Card,
Chuck Reed, Charlie Reed, Cameron Card. Final resting place was in the
Dumont Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
Dean W. Uhlenhopp

Dean
W. Uhlenhopp, 83, of Allison, Iowa, passed away April 20, 2005, at the
Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born February 7, 1922,
in Butler County near Kesley, Iowa, to John and Augusta (Cassman)
Uhlenhopp. Dean graduated from the Aplington High School and also from
the University of Dubuque. Later he went on the receive his Master’s
Degree from the University of Iowa and from Drake University. He married
Vae Dralle on August 18, 1957 in Greene, Iowa. Dean worked in the
education field for several years and was a Superintendent at
Allison-Bristow Schools for nineteen years, retiring in 1984. He was a
member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Allison Lions Club. Dean
enjoyed raising and showing ponies, loved to watch his children and
grandchildren play sports and loved music and singing. Dean is survived
by his son Jon Uhlenhopp of Kesley, son Dana & wife Debra Uhlenhopp of
Allison, son Jason Uhlenhopp of Waukee, son Tod & wife Yvonne Uhlenhopp
of Clear Lake, brother Merle Uhlenhopp of Parkersburg, brother Elvin &
wife Phyllis Uhlenhopp of Kesley, sister Lillian Perkins of Cedar
Rapids, sister Leola & husband Gordon Weiland of Fort Dodge, five
grandchildren: Marcus, Indy, Justin, Alex & Devin. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and his wife. Funeral services were held at 10:00
a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison
with Rev. Jeffrey Blank and Rev. Ruth Ann Shriver officiating. Special
music was provided by organist, Mrs. Cecil Radcliff accompanying
soloist, Shirley Wubbena. Pallbearers were Joel Heuer, Jeff Dralle,
Steve Turner, Gene Shepard, Darwin Wubbena and Lester Schrage. Honorary
pallbearers were Clifford Ackerman, Alvin Bohlen and Charles Mosher.
Final resting place was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa.

Dotha Maryena Willis

Dotha Maryena Willis, age 93, of Aplington, Iowa, was born September
2, 1911, the daughter of Raymond Bruce and Ena Burnham Eckles in
Aplington, Iowa. She graduated from Aplington High School in 1929 and
earned her B.S. degree in Home Economics from Iowa State College in
1934. She served as Extension Home Demonstration Agent in Audubon and
Guthrie Counties until she became a fulltime homemaker. Dotha was united
in marriage with George M. Willis on October 16, 1935, in the Collegate
Presbyterian Church, Ames, Iowa. The couple lived in southern Iowa,
Waterloo and Conrad before moving back to Aplington in 1947. They farmed
west of Aplington before moving into town in 1977. Dotha was a lifelong
member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington where she was
involved in the women’s groups and Sunday School. She was also active in
Washington Homemaker’s Club and the Butler County Farm Bureau Women’s
clubs. She also belonged to the Aplington Women’s Club after moving to
town. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, refinishing antiques,
sewing, needlepoint and reading. Dotha died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at
Maple Manor Care Center, Aplington, Iowa, of natural causes. She was
preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George McKinley Willis on
February 7, 1986; her parents; and two brothers, Lester Burnham Eckles
and Gordon Bruce Eckles. She is survived by her six children, Roberta
Hafenstein, Corvallis, Oregon; Raymond (Emily) Willis, Hamden,
Connecticut; Dotha Elaine (Alan) Forry, Galion, Ohio; James (Janelle)
Willis, Aplington, Iowa; Paul (Norleen) Willis, Aplington, Iowa; and
David (Ila) Willis, Grinnell, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 27
great-grandchildren with three more great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild due this year. Funeral Services were held at
10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church
in Aplington, Iowa with Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Organist was Linda
Birley. Vocalist Russ Meyer sang “Bless This House.” Congregational
Hymns were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “In the Garden” and
“Blessed Be the Tie That Binds”. Casketbearers were her grandsons Andrew
Willis, Jason Willis, Jon Lace, Tim Willis Jared Willis and Bart Willis.
Honorary Casketbearers were her grandchildren Wendy Mulder, Peter
Willis, Cindy Hall, Linda Milligan, Dotha Canning, Laura Cook, Kim
Church, Dana Willis and Peggy Willis. Interment was in Pleasant View
Cemetery Aplington, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel, Aplington, was
in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Aplington
First Presbyterian Church or the Eckles Dubuque Theological Seminary

Effie Leila (Dietz) Conklin

Effie Leila (Dietz) Conklin was born September 18, 1905, in Polk
Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of George M. and Edith L. (Masten)
Dietz. She attended the Leamon Country School, Bremer County, through
the 8th grade. She passed away April 24, 2005. Effie was united in
marriage to Vaughn E. Conklin at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, April
15, 1925. To this union five children were born. Vaughn and Effie farmed
east of Plainfield all their married life. They moved to their present
home in 1947, where Effie continued to live until recently, when she
moved to the Shell Rock Healthcare Center. She was an accomplished
wallpaper hanger and worked for many years in area homes. She was a
member of Farm Bureau, Evergreen Ladies Aid, Family Living and the 188
Coffee Club. Effie enjoyed flowers and gardening, made mints for many
graduations and weddings, made homemade donuts for the family
get-togethers along with quilting and crocheting. Her family was the
most important part of her life. Effie is survived by three sons, Alvin
(Elizabeth) Conklin of Waverly, Albert (Arlene) Conklin of Clarksville,
and James (Beverly) Conklin of Plainfield; two daughters, Betty deNeui
and Marie (Russell) Rohwedder, all of Waverly; one brother, Charles
Dietz of New Hampton; two sisters, Mildred Caswell and Edith Vohsmann,
both of Nashua; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 12
great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Goldie Chandler and JoAnne Kalina.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vaughn on August 5, 1986; her
parents; three brothers, Alvin Dietz, George Dietz Jr., and Clarence
Dietz; three sisters, Emma Dietz, Bessie Runyan, and Martha Wagner; and
a son-in-law John deNeui. Funeral services were held April 27, 2005, at
the First Baptist Church, Plainfield, with interment at Willow Lawn
Cemetery, Plainfield. Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, was
in charge of arrangements.

Sharon “Sheri” Lindaman

Sharon “Sheri” Lindaman, age 60, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, was born the
daughter of Ervin and LaVon (Uhlenhopp) Diekman on May 24, 1944, at Fort
Riley, Kansas. She received her education and graduated from the
Aplington High School. Sheri continued her education at the Ellsworth
Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Sheri was united in marriage with
Marvin Lindaman on February 14, 1965, at the Little Brown Church in
Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Cedar Falls. Sheri worked at the
Cedar Falls High School for 36 years and retired in 1999 as the
Principal’s secretary. She loved spending her summers in Minnesota.
Sheri was a loving wife and mother who cared so much for her family. On
Wednesday, May 4, 2005, Sheri died at her home in Cedar Falls of cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Diekman. Sheri is
survived her husband, Marvin “Marv” Lindaman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one
son, Jeffrey (Roxanne) Lindaman, of Iowa City, Iowa; one daughter,
Jennifer Lindaman of Iowa City, Iowa; two grandchildren, Stella and
Gavin Lindaman; her mother, LaVon Diekman of Aplington, Iowa; and one
brother, Terrill (Denise) Diekman of Elgin, Iowa. Funeral Services were
held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the First Presbyterian
Church in Aplington, Iowa with Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Organist was
Susan Beasley. Vocalist Lori Uhlenhopp sang “Remember Me”.
Congregational Hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace”.

Elizabeth Matilda Roose

Elizabeth Matilda Roose, 87, a resident of the Allison Health Care
Center passed away on Wednesday May 4, 2005, following a long illness.
Elizabeth was born on June 2, 1917, at her home in Allison, Iowa, the
daughter of Harve Clark Speedy and Phillipa Mockford Speedy. Elizabeth
grew up and received her education in the community of Allison. She
graduated from Allison High School, as the class valedictorian. She
attended the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and received her
certificate to teach. Elizabeth taught in a one-room schoolhouse in West
Point and Jefferson #7. She married Stanley Joseph Roose on December 21,
1940, in the Clarksville Lutheran Church Parsonage. Elizabeth and
Stanley purchased the Phillips 66 bulk plant and tank wagon in Fort
Dodge, Iowa. In 1943 they began farming when the Roose family farm in
Bristow, Iowa, became available. Elizabeth was an active partner in the
family business, doing everything from driving the tractor (she was
thrilled when Stan Jr. took over that job at an early age); to helping
with milking, livestock chores, picking up machinery parts and taking
hot, full-course meals to the field during planting and harvesting
times. Elizabeth and Stanley enjoyed taking fishing trips to Minnesota,
Canada, and Lake Erie. They also enjoyed dancing during the Big Band
Music era. Elizabeth was an active member of St. John’s Vilmar Lutheran
Church. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for many years, and
also took part in the Ladies Aid and church circles. Elizabeth was a
marvelous cook, fixing everything from wild rabbit, duck, pheasant, and
venison, to donuts, cinnamon rolls, and French toast. The highlight of
the holidays was the family gathering and sharing a meal, perfectly
prepared by Elizabeth. Her children have fond memories of getting off
the school bus and having warm, homemade bread and elderberry jelly.
Elizabeth and Stanley made a successful team, reaching their goals of
having healthy children, traveling and being able to enjoy winters in
Hilltop, Texas. They semi-retired in 1988, and purchased a home in
Hilltop Lakes. They enjoyed making new friends and playing golf. During
their retirement years, Elizabeth and Stanley traveled to England,
Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii, and many other places. Elizabeth was a
member of Hilltop Lakes Chapel and the Women’s Bible Study group.
Elizabeth’s greatest joy was spending time with her children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren. We are so thankful we had her
love and support for so many years. The grandchildren and great
grandchildren all loved to visit Grandma & Grandpa’s. Elizabeth is
survived by her daughter Mary Roose Miller of Cedar Rapids, daughter
Susan and (Doug) Marsh of Greene, son Stanley and (Sandy) Roose, Jr. of
Bristow; grandchildren Marin (Rick) Schmitt, Kirstin J. Miller, Angela
(Darrell) Hobbs, Faber W. Miller; Tina (Kurt) Gaven, Daniel (Sara)
Marsh, Amy (John) Teeple; Kurt (Pam) Roose, Tim (Jody) Roose, DeAnn
(Jim) Feltz and Travis (Christy) Roose. Great grandchildren: Dylan,
Aleena, Dallas, Joseph, Sarah; Dalton, Taylor, Carson, Paige, Claire,
Lauren, Maxwell, Elli, Anna; Kyle, Danielle, Justine, Megan, Darian,
Jackson, and Isaac; loving sisters and brother-in-laws, and many nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers
Richard & Claire; sisters Marjorie, Norma & Ivadell and a great grandson
Jamie. Funeral services were held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Vilmar on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark
Walker officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Diane Hummel
accomp-anying soloist, Shirley Wubbena. Pallbearers were Kurt Roose, Tim
Roose, Travis Roose, Kyle Roose, Faber Miller, Dylan Miller and Daniel
Marsh. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Schmitt, Darrell Hobbs, Kurt Gaven,
John Teeple and Jim Feltz. Final resting place was in St. John’s

Bernice Burkett

Bernice Burkett, 95, of Dumont, Iowa died on May 2, 2005 at the Dumont
Care Center in Dumont of natural causes.Bernice was born January 15,
1910, in Vandalia, Illinois to Dave and Lilly (Wright) Blankenship. She
received her education in country schools in Illinois. On September 3,
1930 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, she was married to Charles
Albert Burkett. Bernice was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of
people. She was affiliated with the Dumont Reformed Church. Survivors
include a son Charles & wife Mary Ann Burkett of Dumont; three
grandsons: Norman Burkett and Dennis Burkett, both of Dumont and Steve
Burkett of Kensett, Iowa; five great grandchildren: Courtney, Luke,
Christina, Mitchell and Anthony; two sisters: Eva Mae Ragsdale of
Sheffield, Iowa and Myrna Bills of Mason City, Iowa and many nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three
sisters: Erma, Jean and Velma and one brother Leslie and great grandson
Nathan Lane Burkett. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 5 at
10:30 a.m. at the Dumont Reformed Church with Rev. Bob Scholten
officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Jim Siebrands
accomp-anying the congregational singing. Pallbearers were Gary Bills,
Ben Bills, Jim Bills, Larry Bills, Charles Bills and Gene Behrens. Final
resting place was in the Dumont Cemetery. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home

Henry Uhlenhopp

Henry Uhlenhopp, age 93, of the Ackley Presbyterian Village in Ackley,
Iowa, formerly of Aplington, Iowa, was born December 6, 1911, the son of
Rob and Johanna Brinkman Uhlenhopp in Butler County near Aplington. He
received his education in Aplington. Henry was united in marriage with
Lela Walters on March 12, 1935, in Allison, Iowa. They made their home
in Aplington after marriage. Henry worked as a farm hand and for WPA. He
eventually went to work at the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa.
Henry retired from Rath Packing in 1973 after 23 years of employment.
Henry attended meetings at the Hitesville Gospel Hall. He enjoyed
camping, often near Steamboat Rock; gardening and growing vegetables;
caring for his horses and his membership in the Dumont Saddle Club.
Henry liked to spend time going to the sale barn and visiting with his
friends while having coffee. He loved going out to eat with his family
for his favorite dinner of broasted chicken or fish. Henry often
entertained the residents of the nursing home with his harmonica. Henry
died Monday, May 2, 2005, at the Ackley Presbyterian Home in Ackley,
from natural causes. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Lee
Uhlenhopp; his parents, Rob and Johanna Uhlenhopp; eight brothers, Dick,
Chris, Harm, Jake, John, Robert, Edward and Jerry Uhlenhopp; and three
sisters, Maggie Conrads, Mary Bennken and Johanna Bodecker. Henry is
survived by his wife of 70 years, Lela Uhlenhopp, Ackley, Iowa; three
sons, Melvin (Merna) Uhlenhopp, Coulter, Iowa, Merle (Norrell) Uhlenhopp,
Aplington, Iowa, and Donald (Lois) Uhlenhopp, Aplington, Iowa; three
daughters, June (Clarence) Karsjens, Parkersburg, Iowa, Sharon (Marlin)
Pruin, Aplington, Iowa, and Joyce Miller, Ackley, Iowa; 12
grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one
step-great grandchild; and two step-great-great grandchildren. Funeral
Services were at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the Hitesville
Gospel Hall, rural Aplington, Iowa. Officiating was Mr. Robert Orr, the
Congregational Hymns were “Old Rugged Cross” and “What a Friend We Have
in Jesus.” The Casketbearers were Wade Buss, Kendall Buss, Jason
Uhlenhopp, Lance Uhlenhopp, Craig Uhlenhopp and Kent Karsjens. Interment
was at the Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Aplington, Iowa.

Iveli, age 72, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Harold and
Irma Sinram Martin on March 27, 1933, in Clarksville, Iowa. She
graduated from Clarksville High School in 1950. Jean attended college
after high school in the Washington D.C. area where she met her first
husband, Don Frary. Jean and Don lived in Queens, New York for a short
time after marriage, where Jean worked as a computer operator for IBM
and then Statab. They later moved to New Jersey. Jean and Don where
later divorced. She was a longtime resident of Pessaic, New Jersey and
worked many years as a supervisor of the data entry group at ADP. Jean
married her second husband, John Iveli. They were later divorced. She
moved back to Clarksville, in the late 1980’s when her mother became
ill. Jean had worked part-time at A-mart in the past. Jean enjoyed
bowling in the past, reading, especially science fiction and doing
needlecrafts. She loved animals and always had a pet companion. Jean was
also a great cook, particularly of holiday turkeys. Jean died Thursday,
May 5, 2005, at the Allen Memorial Hospital from natural causes. She was
preceded in death by her son, Brett Frary, and her parents. Jean is
survived by her son, Ron and his wife, Andrea Frary of Rockaway, New
Jersey, and her sister Janice of California Burial for Jean was at 10:00
a.m,. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at the Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville,
Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, was in charge of
arrangements.

Private memorial services for Elaine Brockway, 87, of Allison will be
held at a later date. Elaine Brockway passed away on Friday at the
Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in
Allison was in charge of arrangements.
David Neal Wygle

David Neal Wygle, age 55, of Charles City, Iowa, was born the fourth
child of Frank and Ruth (Allen) Wygle on August 9, 1949, in Waterloo,
Iowa. He received his education and graduated from the New Hartford High
School. On December 7, 1968, David was united in marriage with Marlene
Eiklenborg at the First Reformed Church in Aplington, Iowa. His
employment relocated him in several towns throughout the Midwest. Until
recently they made their home in Charles City. Through the years he
managed several recycling facilities, he farmed for several years in
Wisconsin and Iowa, and was currently working for Winnebego in Charles
City. David loved spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and coin collecting. He enjoyed being
active and helping with his children’s activities including girl and boy
scouts. On Thursday, May 12, 2005, David died at the Floyd County
Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa, of complications of cancer. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Wygle; two
brothers, William and Frank Wygle; and his father-in-law, Donald
Eiklenborg. David is survived by his wife, Marlene Wygle of Charles
City, IA; one son, Neal (Faith) Wygle of Green Bay, WI; three daughters,
Charity (Tom) Bork of East Chicago, IN, Hope (Victor) Gonzalez of
DeMotte, IN, and Faith (Robert) Liebl of Lake Iroquois, IL; eight
grandchildren; two brothers, Ed (Karen) Wygle of Ackley, IA and Steve
(Karen) Wygle of Hawii; a sister, Dora (Jim) Frost of Ionia, IA; his
mother-in-law, Marveleen Eiklenborg of Aplington, IA; two
brothers-in-law, Dennis (Jolene) Eiklenborg of Parkersburg, IA, and
Duane (Nancy) Eiklenborg of Storm Lake, IA; and two sisters-in-law,
Shirley Wygle of Ionia, IA and Brenda Buseman of Parkersburg, IA.
Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2005 at the
AMVET Hall in Clarksville, Iowa with Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating.
Casketbearers were Sara Ashley, Jim Ashley, Beth Wygle, Adam Wygle, Tim
Wygle and Tony Wygle. Interment was in Lowell Township Cemetery, rural
Clarksville, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, was in
charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer
Society.
Mildred “Min” Opperman

Mildred “Min” Opperman, 84, of Allison, Iowa, passed away May 11, 2005,
at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa of complications of
surgery. Mildred was born on July 21, 1920, to Carl Oscar and Amelia (Hultgren)
Anderson in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She graduated from Greene High
School. Mildred married Donald R. Opperman on February 15, 1944, in
Charles City, Iowa. Mildred and Don operated the Lunch Box Cafe in
Allison from 1951 until 1971. She was Deputy County Auditor for Butler
County until retiring in 1993. Mildred was a member of the United Church
of Christ in Allison. She enjoyed reading, sewing, going to baseball
games, fishing, watching Hawkeye sports and NASCAR, gardening, playing
cards with the Wednesday Night Card Club, doing crossword puzzles,
needleworking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her
son David & wife Phyllis Opperman of Rogersville, Missouri, daughter
Nancy Timmer of Seymour, Illinois, son Robert & wife Connie Opperman of
Allison; granddaughter Reghann Redlin,; grandsons Brad (Desiree)
Opperman, Bryan (Christa) Opperman, Matt Timmer, Tony Opperman and Tyler
Opperman; great-granddaughter A’dell Redlin, great-grandsons Nathan
Opperman, Zachary Opperman and Max Wood; brother Graydon “Hunk” & wife
Bernita Anderson of Greene and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents, husband and a sister Gladys Kollman. Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2005 at the Allison
United Church of Christ with Pastor Eileen Johnson officiating. Special
music was provided by organist, Mrs. Cecil Radcliffe accompanying the
congregational singing. Pallbearers were Brad Opperman, Bryan Opperman,
Reghann Redlin, Matt Timmer, Tony Opperman and Tyler Opperman. Final
resting place was in the Allison Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.

Cecil L. Poppe

Cecil L. Poppe, born in Butler County, Iowa on January 5, 1929, passed
away Tuesday, May 3, 2005 after a long illness. He is survived by his
wife, Amelia; son, David and wife, Lynne of North Caroline; daughters,
Cathy Nesbitt and husband, Julian of South Carolina; Pam Williams of
Texas; Patti Lewis of Arizona; Terre Poppe and Stepf Ozard of British
Columbia; Becky Darrow and husband, Ken of New Mexico; brothers, Harvey
Poppe and wife, Lavon of Clarksville, Iowa; Raymond Poppe and wife,
Sarah of Shell Rock, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren. Cecil spent 25 years with Presbyterian Hospital as
Director of Plant Services. After retiring from Presbyterian he assumed
the position of Special Projects Manager of the UNM Plant Department.
Cecil became a member of Elks Lodge 461 in 1964 and served on numerous
committees. In 1991 he was elected to a five year term as Trustee of
Lodge 461 and also served as chairman for two years. Cecil served in
many positions in the Parent Teacher Association, including State
President, National PTA Treasurer and Chairman of the National Endowment
Fund committee. His motto was always “Service is the rent we pay for the
space we occupy.” A Memorial Service was held May 9, 2005 at Elks Lodge
461 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Officiating the service was Canon Ned
Ross from St. John’s Cathedral and the Elks Hour 11 committee of the
BPOE 461. In care of the arrangements was Riverside Funeral Home of
Albuquerque. Ginger Stukenberg

Ginger Stukenberg, age 49, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter
of Richard and Barbara (Capper) Nelms on January 26, 1956, in Waterloo,
Iowa. She graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo in 1974, and
continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa. On March 12,
1983, Ginger was united in marriage with David Stukenberg at the Little
Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Cedar Falls, Iowa, after
marriage, where Ginger was the lead singer in various local bands. They
later moved to Augusta, Kansas for a couple of years and then to
Parkersburg, Iowa. Ginger became the Director of the Parkersburg Public
Library in 1996 and was the President of the Friends of Libraries.
Ginger was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parkersburg. She
shared her gift of singing in many churches and performed in many
musicals and plays. She loved reading, fossil hunting, organic
gardening, searching for wild edibles and was interested in wildlife.
Ginger taught Vacation Bible School and directed Christmas programs at
nursing homes. She was a babysitter, Den Mother and Cub Scout Leader and
loved attending all of her children’s activities. Ginger died Friday,
May 20, 2005, at her home in rural Aplington, Iowa, of natural causes.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Nelms. Ginger is
survived by her husband, David Stukenberg of Aplington, Iowa; two
daughters, Marni Kaduce of Kapaa, Hawaii, and Jordan Stukenberg at home;
two sons, Cody Stukenberg of Tacoma, Washington and Caleb Stukenberg at
home; one grandson, Eli of Kapaa, Hawaii; her Mother, Barbara Nelms of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Sandy (David) Blair of Cedar Rapids,
Iowa; and one nephew Rick Blair. A Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parkersburg,
Iowa with Father Dennis Quint officiating. Organist was Ann
Nicklaus-Schmelzer. Vocalist Jody Nielsen sang “Softly and Tenderly.”
Congregational Hymns were “Here I Am Lord”, “Hail Mary” and “How Great
Thou Art.” Lector was Maureen Reinert. Eucharistic Ministers were Nancy
Brannon, Nancy Flanigan and Tom Reinert. Gift Bearers were David and
Rick Blair. Servers were Kaitlyn Schwennen and Meghan Flanigan.
Casketbearers were Caleb Stukenberg, Cody Stukenberg, David Blair, Rick
Blair, Larry Nielsen and Zach McLean. Flower Committee was Mike and Sue
Hosch. Inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington, Iowa at a
later date. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of
arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
