Services for Melvin J. Brinkman, 68, of Wenatchee, Washington, formerly
of Greene, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at Reid’s Funeral
Chapel, 519 North First Street, Greene, with Pastor Gary Hatcher
officiating. Inurnment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene, with
military honors conducted by Tack Barnett Post 268 American Legion of
Greene. Melvin James Brinkman was born June 22, 1936, in rural Dayton
Township, Butler County, a son of Henry W. and Rosa (Hirsch) Brinkman,
and died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at his home in Wenatchee, Washington
having fought a most courageous 4 ½ year battle with cancer. Those
planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the charity

Genevieve N. Duncan

Funeral services for Genevieve N. Duncan were held Wednesday, June 1,
2005, at the United Methodist Church, Greene with Pastor Ashok Patet
officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Genevieve
Naomi Ismay was born February 13, 1911 in Fulton, Mo. A daughter if
Aldolphuis and Edna (Beatty) Ismay, and died Friday, May 27, 2005, at
the Liebe Care Center in Greene. She received her education and
graduated from the Fulton High School in 1929. She attended St. Luke’s
School of Nursing for one year and worked as a practical nurse at
Calloway Co. Hospital in Fulton until her marriage. On October 24, 1936
she was married to George Russell Duncan at the First Christian Church
in Fulton. They moved to Ames in 1937 and to Greene in October 1941. She
was a bookkeeper for Albrecht Hatchery and Greene Super Service for
several years and later Davis Oil Company for thirteen years. Genevieve
was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women,
past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and past Matron of the
Order of Eastern Star. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and knitting.
She made Afgans for the grandchildren. She is survived by her foster
daughter: Rose Lee (Duane) Mather of Janesville, five grandchildren and
thirteen great grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her
husband Russell on June 7, 1972, her parents, and two brothers: Joe
Ismay and Curtis Ismay. Those planning an expression of sympathy may

Bernard E. Weinberg

Bernard E. Weinberg, 81, of Plainfield, Iowa, died Saturday morning,
May 28, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center, Cedar Falls, of
natural causes. He was born on November 17, 1923 on his parents farm,
rural Clarksville, the son of George J. and Hilda (Wedeking) Weinberg.
He was baptized and later confirmed at First United Church of
Christ-Pleasant Valley, rural Clarksville. Bernard attended country
school near his home and graduated from the Plainfield High School. On
August 21, 1945 he entered the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II and was
stationed at the Naval Base in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where he met his
future wife Dorothy ?Jean? Phillips. On June 1, 1946 he and Jean were
married in Baltimore, Md., and following Bernard?s discharge on August
25, 1946 they lived in Harrisburg, Pa. for a short time. In 1947 they
moved to Plainfield where they farmed and Bernard also worked for Rath
Packing. In 1956 Bernard left Rath?s and began working for Roach?s
Elevator in Plainfield and continued to farm. In 1964 the couple retired
from farming and moved into Plainfield. Bernard continued to work for
Roaches and in 1965 he went to work for the Oliver Corporation, later
known as White Farm Equipment in Charles City, retiring from there in
1988. Jean died on January 5, 1992 and Bernard continued to live in
their home. He developed kidney failure and in 2000 he began his life
with dialysis. In April of 2002 he became a resident of the Shell Rock
Health Care Center and then later moved to his apartment at the Meadows
Assisted Living in Shell Rock. In September of 2003 he moved to the
Cedar Falls Health Care Center where he had since lived. He loved to
fish for trout, camp, enjoy nature and watch birds. He also traveled in
his camper throughout the mid-west visiting new sites and making friends
along the way. They were never long trips, but full trips. Bernard is
survived by his three children, Sharon (Jay) Mehmen of Nashua, Iowa,
David Weinberg of Shell Rock, Debra (Paul) Brunner of Marble Rock, Iowa;
nine grandchildren, Bryan Mehmen, Paula Burley, Brent Mehman, Jana
Roberts and Jolyn Mehmen, Michelle Weinberg, Michael Brunner, Mark
Brunner and Amanda Feuk; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Reed
(Wanda) Weinberg of Clarksville, and one sister-in-law, Agnes Weinberg
of Greene. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; one
grandson, Matthew Brunner, and one brother, Vernon. Funeral services
were held Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at First United Church of
Christ-Pleasant Valley, rural Clarksville, with Rev. Anne Sunday
officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in the Pleasant
Valley Cemetery, rural Clarksville. Memorials may be directed to the
family for a later designation.

Donald Dean Folkers

SUMMERTON, SC - Donald Dean Folkers, 75, husband of Harriette Medlin
Folkers, died Friday, May 27, 2005, in Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. Born
November 18, 1929, in Allison, Iowa, he was a son of the late Herbert
and Sylva Bird Folkers. He was first married to the late Ruth Branch
Folkers. He was a retired Deputy Base Civil Engineer for Shaw Air Force
Base, an Air Force veteran and pilot achieving the rank of Captain and
an Air Force Reserve Major. He was a graduate of Iowa State University
and the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Civil Engineering. Mr. Folkers was a member of Summerton Presbyterian
Church and a Shriner with Hillcrest Lodge. Surviving are his wife of
Summerton; a son, Phillip (Becky) Folkers of Columbia; a daughter, Lisa
F. (Rodney) Kee of Sumter; two stepdaughters, Tonya Bradley (Ronald)
Alexander and Vicki Bradley (Jeffrey) Preast both of Sumter; a brother,
Calvin Folkers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Erin,
Alex, William, Hannah, Dustin, Bryanna and Megan. Funeral services will
be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Summerton Presbyterian Church with the
Revs. Garland Hart and Richard Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in
Sumter Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive
friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, and at
other times at the residence, 1188 Blackberry Bush Road, Summerton.

Street, Summerton, SC 29148. Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of

Gary Lee Buss

Gary Lee Buss, age 68, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Alfred
and Lenora (Molendorp) Buss on March 19, 1937, in Parkersburg, Iowa. He
was baptized and later confirmed at the Bethel Lutheran Church in
Parkersburg. Gary received his education and graduated from the
Parkersburg High School. Gary Buss was united in marriage with Rose
Lindaman on June 18, 1959, in Mason City, Iowa. They made their home in
Parkersburg, later divorced after 22 years. Through the years Gary was
employed with Titus Manufacturing, Clay Equipment and John Deere, all in
Waterloo, Iowa. Gary took an early retirement due to his health in the
1990’s. Gary’s favorite interests in life were going fishing, going for
rides in his van and his dog, Sam. He was a sports fanatic and enjoyed
watching baseball and basketball games, above all the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Gary loved spending time with his family, especially with his
grandchildren. Gary died Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Covenant Medical
Center, Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by
his parents; a four year-old son, Kelvin Buss; one brother, Benne Buss
and one sister, Joyce Hinders. Gary is survived by a special friend,
Connie Schmitt of Parkersburg, Iowa; two sons, Michael (Janelle) Buss of
Leland, Iowa and Brian Buss of Parkersburg, Iowa; two daughters, Elaine
(Chad) Allison of Allison, Iowa and Lisa Hancock of Ottumwa, Iowa; six
grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin “Bo” Buss
of Allison, Iowa, Joel (Diane) Buss of Parkersburg, Iowa and Mark Buss
of Parkersburg, Iowa; eight sisters, Bonnie (Lee) Walters of
Parkersburg, Iowa, Dee (Walt) Scheidecker of Parkersburg, Iowa, Karen
(Jim) Weber of Charles City, Iowa, Renée (Bob) Yost of Shell Rock, Iowa,
Peggy (Darwin) Miller of Parkersburg, Iowa, Jann (Dave) Wiegmann of
Parkersburg, Iowa, Kathy (Lee) Aalfs of Parkersburg and Cindy (Roy)

Congregational Hymns “Old Rugged Cross”, “Borning Cry” and “On Eagle’s
Wings”. Casketbearers were Kurt Walters, Jeremy Buss, Quinn Weber, Tony
Scheidecker and Keith Hinders. Honorary Bearers were his grandchildren
Kane Allison, Amber Hancock, Jessie Hancock, Jason Berg, Josh Berg and
Jessica Berg. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa.

Edward Smith

Edward Smith, age 92, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Henry
Elias and Thursa Mae (Croot) Smith on August 23, 1912, in Cottonwood
County, near Jeffers, Minnesota. He received his education at the
Aplington High School. Edward Smith was united in marriage with Margaret
F. Feckers on February 12, 1938, in Northwood, Iowa. They made their
home for a short time in Waterloo, Iowa, where Edward began working at
Rath Packing Plant. They moved to Aplington and five years later they
moved to Parkersburg. Edward was in fellowship with the Christians at
Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington, Iowa. He took the Lord as his
personal savior at the age of 17. Edward was a loving dedicated husband
who took care of his wife for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing,
gardening and cooking. Edward died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at the Maple
Manor Care Center, Aplington, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Margaret F. Smith on July 4, 2004; his parents;
and one sister, Marion Frey. Edward is survived by one son, Ron (Carol)
Smith, of Parkersburg, Iowa; one daughter, Carol Van Ellen of
Parkersburg, Iowa, and her friend, William Lalk; five grandchildren;
five step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and three brothers,
James Smith of Parkersburg, Iowa, Raymond Smith of Evansdale, Iowa and
Henry Smith Jr. of Aplington, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30
a.m., Monday, June 6, 2005 at Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington,
Iowa with Mr. Robert Orr officiating. Congregational Hymns were “How
Great Thou Art”, “In Times Like These” and “Amazing Grace”. Honorary
Casketbearers were Elmer Smith, Justin Byers and Ben Frieling.

Henry Jacob DeVries

Henry Jacob DeVries, 80, of Dougherty, Iowa, passed away June 13,
2005, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton,
Iowa. Henry was born August 29, 1924, in Butler County, Iowa, to Jacob
T. and Kathryn (Klahsen) DeVries. He attended Butler County rural
schools. Henry farmed all his life. He was a member of the Dumont
Reformed Church in Dumont, Iowa. Henry enjoyed farming, raising cattle,
and restoring tractors. He is survived by his brother Edwin and wife
Rose DeVries of Greene, brother Calvin and wife Nona DeVries of Des
Moines, sister Ruth and husband Andy Buseman of Parkersburg. He was
preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. Funeral
services were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2005 at the Dumont
Reformed Church with Rev. Bob Scholten officiating. Special music was
provided by organist, Jim Siebrands accom-panying soloist, Cheryl
Scholten. Pallbearers were Curt Buseman, Edmund Brinkman, Richard
Huisman, Ron Zimmerman, Buck Lambertsen and Harold Dean Miller. Final
resting place was in the Washington Reformed Church Cemetery, rural
Ackley, Iowa. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Strom

Ruth Strom, 75, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died on Friday, June 17, 2005, at
Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. Ruth was
born on May 7, 1930, in Missoula, Montana, the daughter of Phillip and
Rose (Klein) Zottnick. On May 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to
Donald Strom at the 1st Baptist Church in Missoula. The couple then
moved to Waverly, where Ruth went to work at the cannery and Donald at
John Deere in Waterloo. In 1955, the couple bought their home in Shell
Rock and have lived there since. Throughout the years, Ruth worked at
the Waverly Bakery, Infelt’s Variety Store, and as a sales
representative for KWAY Radio and the Hometowner. She retired in 1987.
Ruth enjoyed needlework, especially crocheting and embroidery. Ruth is
survived by her husband, Donald, of Shell Rock; three daughters, Linda
Lahr of Clarksville, Iowa, Debbie (Wally) Smith of Ames, Iowa, and Lisa
Strom of Chatfield, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Michelle Pollock of
Berwick, Iowa, Damion Strom of Chicago, Illinois, and Jennifer Bowers of
Waukee, Iowa; and five great grandchildren, Shannon Bowers, Cole
Pollock, Dai Strom, Genesis Fortner and Alexa Bowers. She was preceded
in death by her parents; one daughter in infancy, Dona Sue; and two
sisters, Leona Letsinger and Elaine Portevent. Funeral services will be
held on Monday, June 20, 2005, at 11:00 am at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home
in Shell Rock. Burial will be held at a later date in Harlington
Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on
Sunday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock. Memorials may be

Funeral Services for Darrell A. Davis, 97, Greene, were held Tuesday,
June 21, 2005 at the United Methodist Church, Greene, with Pastor Ashok
Patet officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Darrell
A. Davis was born June 15, 1908 in Superior, Iowa, a, son of Sylvester
and Clara (Wilkinson) Davis and died Friday, June 17, 2005, at the Liebe
Care Center in Greene. On December 15, 1932 Darrell was united in
marriage to Sadie Mae Garner, and to this union was born one son,
Charles. At two years old Charles, and his family moved to a farm west
of Clarksville where he attended rural school and graduated from
Clarksville High School. He attended Iowa State College in Ames majoring
in electrical engineering. Darrell entered the Navy on April 3, 1945 and
was discharged Feb. 4^th , 1946. Darrell and his family lived for a
short time in Hampton before moving to Clarksville. In 1949 they moved
to Greene and started Davis Oil Co. Darrell and Sadie had a winter home
in Mesa, Arizona which they enjoyed for many years. Sadie died in 1993
and two years later, Darrell was married to Cleo Detra Mead. Darrell was
Past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Clarksville and Past
Worthy Patron of Eastern Star in Clarksville. He was also a member of
the Masonic Lodge in Greene. He was a 50+ year member of the American
Legion and active in Methodist churches in both communities. Darrell
sang in the choir at the Greene Methodist Church for many years and was
church treasurer for 19 years. He was also a past president of the
Greene Country club and has served on the Rose Hill Cemetery Board.
Darrell loved to play golf, go fishing, dance, play cards, travel and
spend time with the many friends that shared his life. Most of all, he
wanted to be with his family. His greatest joy for the past five years
has been spending time with the little guy that called him “Great Papa”.
Darrell, Sadie and Cleo were blessed with wonderful neighbors who made
it possible for them to remain in their home as long as they did. He was
grateful for the outstanding care that he received at Liebe Care Center.
Darrell is preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie Garner Davis and
his second wife, Cleo Detra Mead, his parents, an infant brother, and a
sister. He is survived by a son, Charles(Jann) Davis of Charles City,
two grandchildren, Kristen of Omaha, Bill (Jean ) Davis of West Des
Moines; one great-grandson, Nicholas Davis; one sister Velva Severson of
Denver, Colorado. Darrell has requested that in lieu of flowers,
Memorials may be directed to the family at 706 Second Avenue, Charles
City, Iowa 50616, to establish a scholarship fund in his memory.

Ivan R. Schwartz

Ivan R. Schwartz, age 75, formerly of Grundy Center, died Thursday, June
9, 2005, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, from natural causes.
He was born January 30, 1930, the son of Alvin and Clara Claussen
Schwartz in Orange City, California. Ivan received his education in
Anaheim, California. Ivan enlisted in the United States Air Force on
December 6, 1954. He was station in Northern California while serving in
the Air Force. Ivan was honorable discharged from the Air Force
September 13, 1957. He made his home in Anaheim, California working in
road construction until 1980 when he retired and moved to Grundy Center.
Ivan became a resident of the Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, on
February 17, 1997. Ivan enjoyed writing and receiving letters with
several pen pals. He was a hand radio operator and very knowledgeable in
movie and television trivia. Ivan was also well versed in our nation’s
history. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister,
Shirley (Vernon) Adelmund, Aplington, Iowa; Ivan is survived by five
nieces and nephews, Lynda (David) Hoffman, Sheryl (Jim) Haan Kinney,
Joyce (Dennis) Roster, David (Melissa) Adelmund, and Phyllis Webb; nine
great nieces and nephews. Private Family Graveside Services were held at
11:00 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Memorials maybe

Rev. Harold R. Nieman

Rev. Harold R. Nieman, 86, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died Sunday, June 12,
2005, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center. Harold was born on January
26, 1919, the son of Casper H. and Ruth (Evans) Nieman, on a farm four
miles south of Shell Rock. He attended grade school at the Dryer Country
school and graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1936. He married
Ruth Harken on March 19, 1938, in Charles City, Iowa. The couple farmed
for ten years north of Horton. It was during this time that both he and
Ruth were saved through the ministry of the Horton Baptist Church. It
was also through meetings at the Horton Baptist Church that they
responded to the call of Home Missions. They left the farm to attend
Omaha Baptist Bible College where he graduated in 1956. In 1957 the
couple moved to Spooner, Wisconsin, to begin a ministry that would
involve churches in Pella, Iowa, Oelwein, Iowa, Boone, Iowa and
Bentonville, Arkansas. Harold also served for three years as a field
director of Continental Baptist Missions and eight years as Mid-West
Regional Representative of C.B.M. Harold was a member of First Baptist
Church in Waverly, her served on the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp Board and
on the council of ten Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches. He
enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, woodworking, talking about
politics, teaching Sunday school and especially spending time with his
family and friends. Harold is survived by his wife Ruth of Shell Rock;
his five childrenand their spouses, Dr. Thomas & Marilyn Nieman of Kent,
Washington, Dianne & Rev. Duane Waterland of Blumenau, S.C. Brazil, Gary
& Ruth Nieman of Big Springs, Texas, Marcia & Kenneth Mason of
Bentonville, Arkansas, Rebecca & Michael Gates of Marion, Illinois,
Patricia & William Lee of Kansasville, Wisconsin, Ruthie & John Cousins
of Shell Rock; 25 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and by one
brother, Donald Nieman of Shell Rock. He was preceded in death by his
parents; one brother, LaVerne Nieman; and by two great granchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14, at First Baptist Church
in Waverly with Rev. Brian Wilkins officiating. Burial was in Lowell
Cemetery, rural Clarksville.

Charles “Chuck” E. Walter

Charles “Chuck” E. Walter, 76, Agency, Iowa, died peacefully at 7:10
p.m. June 4, 2005, at his home. He was born September 5, 1928 in Agency
to Clovie and Alta Elliott Walter. He married Mary Ann Byrne. They
divorced. Charles married Alyce M. Hayden (Lewis) on March 3, 1972.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from March, 1951 to September 1953 and
completed 5 years of reserve duty. He was a machinist for John Deere at
the Waterloo Works from 1959-1990. Chuck and Alyce made their home in
Waterloo from 1972-1990. When he retired in 1990, they wintered in Texas
and made their home in Agency which is where he grew up. He loved his
winters in Texas and made many friends. In the summer he planted huge
gardens and enjoyed canning and giving his vegetables to family and
friends. He enjoyed cooking and baking and was truly a gourmet chef with
several specialties. He enjoyed visits to the children and
grandchildren’s homes and spending time at his home in Agency with them.
He cherished the summers Seth was able to stay with him and summer
visits from all the grandchildren. Charles restored a 1942B John Deere
tractor. With the help of his neighbor, as well as his sons and
grandsons, the tractor is in mint condition. He also enjoyed going with
Bryan and Cassie to Chase’s tractor pulling events. Chase was Chuck’s
little buddy. He loved spending time and visiting with brothers,
sisters, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Chuck was
an avid NASCAR fan with #9 as his favorite. He enjoyed golfing with the
John Deere league at home as well as in Texas. He loved engaging in
political discussions. Chuck was a friend to everyone. He was a devoted
husband, father, grandparent, brother, uncle. He was proud of his
children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. Chuck knew his strength
came from the Lord and turned to him often in the quiet of the day. He
confirmed that with baptism. Surviving is his wife, Alyce; seven
children, Joanna “Jo” K. Walter of Clarksville, Angella M. Petersen of
Dayton, Ohio, Charles “Chuck” E. Walter, Jr. of Lake Havasu City,
Arizona, Rebecca A. Hickman of Brecksville, Ohio, Curtis “Curt” L.
Walter of Waterloo, Randall M. and Russell M. Walter, both of West Des
Moines; fifteen grandchildren, Lindsay, Kyle, Seth, Carrie, Nick,
Nicole, Niel, Matthew, Heidi, Callie, Austin, Evan, Chelsey, Cody and
Caleb; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Trinity and one to be born in
September; three brothers, James Walter of Agency, Richard Walter of New
Hampton, and Jack Walter of California; two sisters, Catherine Dabney of
Waterloo and Letha Rupe of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by two
sisters, Violet Pherigo and Imogene Snook; his mother, Alta Elliott
Walter; his father, Clovie D. Walter; and two stepmothers, Minnie Shultz
and Lula Simmons. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 8, at the
Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Gary L. Petersen officiating.
Graveside services and burial were in Garden of Memories Cemetery,
Waterloo. Military services were conducted at the cemetery. A memorial
has been established to Hospice. Reece Funeral Home, Inc., Ottumwa, was
in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Clara Hummel

Ruth Clara Hummel, 83, of Allison, Iowa, passed away June 7, 2005, at
the Allison Health Care Center in Allison, Iowa. She was born June 18,
1921, in Allison, Iowa, to William & Clara (Renning) Allan. Ruth
graduated from the Allison High school and attended Iowa State Teachers
College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She married Russell D. Hummel on July 18,
1943 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ruth worked as a farm wife and taught
school in country schools and was a teacher’s aide in the
Allison-Bristow Schools. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church,
a member of the Allison AmVets Auxiliary, she was involved in many
women’s church groups. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great
grandchildren and enjoyed going to their ball games and activities. Ruth
also liked baking cookies and gardening. She is survived by her son Bill
& wife Deb Hummel of Allison, son Dave & wife Kim Hummel of Cedar Falls;
grandchildren: Amy Siemens, Greg Hummel, Megan Seehusen, Brandon Hummel,
Jarren Hummel, Morgan Hummel; great grandchildren: Kenzie and Kayla
Siemens, Parker Seehusen, and Landon Hummel. Ruth was preceded in death
by her parents, husband Russell, six brothers and four sisters. Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2005 at the St. James
Lutheran Church in Allison with Rev. Jeffrey A. Blank officiating.
Special music was provided by organist, Mrs. Cecil Radcliffe
accompanying the congregational singing. The flower committee was Ron &
Delores Allan. Pallbearers were Bill Burma, Steve Allan, Greg Hummel,
Shawn Siemens, Brandon Hummel, Jarren Hummel. Honorary pallbearers were
Emery Dickman, Jim Oltmann, Bill Jacobs, Jerald Heeren and Darwin
Wubbena. Final resting place was in the Allison Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

George F. Courbat

George F., 88, of Land O’Lakes, FL passed away June 4, 2005. He is
survived by his wife, Marjorie Courbat; four daughters, Dee McClain and
husband, LeRoy, Jeane Cannon and husband, Lee, Mary Laird and husband,
Bob, all of Land O’Lakes, and Carol Fort and husband, Bob, of Fort
Meade; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters,
Gladys Jacobs of Shell Rock, Iowa, and Dorothy Rients of Alexandria,
Minn. Mr. Courbat was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Weeki Wachee Chapter,
Submarine Veterans of World War II and the Florida Highway Patrol
Auxiliary. Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at
Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade.
