CITY—Linda Lee Risius, 53, of Eldora, passed away on
Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at her new residence in Sac City.
She had moved to Sac City on May 28 to be timer to her
family.
Memorial services were
held on Monday, June 6, at the Faith Bible Church in Sac
City. A private family inurnment will be held at a later
date. The Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, was in
charge of the arrangements.
Linda was born on December
1, 1957 in Hampton, to John and Jennie (Oelmann) Risius. She
graduated from the Eldora High School in 1976 and attended
Ellsworth Community College in 1983, pursuing her business
interests.
Linda enjoyed working on
crossword puzzles, crocheting beautiful crafts and playing
games on the computer. Her greatest joy was being with her
daughter and family. She will be deeply missed by those who
knew and loved her.
Survivors include her
daughter, Krystal Weide of Mason City; parents, John and
Jennie Risius of Sac City; sisters, Cathy Pehling and
husband, Allan of Candler, North Carolina and Jolene Rosauer
and husband, Dave of Sac City; and many nieces, nephews,
extended family members and friends.
Linda was preceded in
death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Delmann; paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Mr. and
Mrs. John F. Risius; paternal grandmother and
step-grandfather, Mr. and Mrs. Klaus Gerzma; grandma, Esther
Wagner; and great-aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fischer.

BILLINGS,
MONTANA—Eda "Edie" (Reynolds) Heavner,
a 1940 graduate of the Iowa Falls High School, passed away
at her home in Billings, Montana, on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Eda
Reynolds was born on June 29, 1922 in Iowa City, to Hobart
Reynolds and Eva Gue. She married George Wellman, a World
War II veteran in 1941 and had two children, David and
Kathy. They later divorced and she married Ned Bailey, an
Iowa Falls farmer. In 1958, they moved to Bristow, where
they operated a grocery/locker. In 1963, they moved to
Backus, Minnesota and she provided nursing care to stroke
victims. After Ned's passing, Edie married Ed Heavner, who
operated a campground.
In 1990, Edie moved to
Billings, Montana, to be close to her daughter. She entered
the St. John's Nursing Home in 2003. She was a member of the
Jehovah's Witnesses, was an excellent cook and enjoyed
crosswords, drawing and writing poetry. Edie deeply loved
her family.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; brother, Floyd Reynolds; and son, David
Bailey.
Edie is survived by her
daughter, Kathy (Stan) Whitman of Henderson, Nevada;
grandchildren, Wendell, Christie and Jennie; four
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
Cremation has taken place
and a memorial service was held in Billings on Wednesday,
June 8.

DODGE—James David Ellis, 80, of Fort Dodge, formerly of
Dows, died on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the Tompkins Memorial
Health Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 8, at the St. Olaf
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Sersland officiating.
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, in the Otis Grove
Cemetery, rural Dows, with full military honors. The
Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge,
is in charge of the arrangements.
Jim is survived by his
wife, Ila; two sons, James Jr. (Teresa) Ellis and Mark
Ellis; and three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter,
Brandon (Trisha) Ellis and their daughter, Ardyn,
Christopher Ellis and Corey Ellis, all of Fort Dodge; his
brothers and sisters, Helen (Don) Kneller of Lytton, Robert
Dean (Kristene) Ellis of Rockwell City, Pauline (Merle) Hout
of Hendersonville, Nevada and Joan (Gerald) Chapman of
Rockwell City.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; a sister, Irene Hendricks; and a brother,
Keith Ellis.
James David Ellis Sr., the
son of David and Essie "Nancy" (Lockmiller) Ellis, was born
on February 18, 1931, in Rockwell City and graduated in 1949
from the Rockwell City High School. Jim was drafted into the
U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served for two
years. After his discharge from the Army, Jim attended
watch-making school in Elgin, Illinois. After his schooling,
Jim started a watch repair shop in Fort Dodge. In 1955, he
moved to Dows, where he owned and operated the Ellis Jewelry
Store. On December 29, 1956, Jim married Ila Gardalen and in
1969, he and his family moved to Fort Dodge, where Jim
worked for Kirkberg Jewelry. Jim started a wholesale watch
and jewelry repair company on October 1, 1979 and retired in
2005. Since March of this year, he has been a resident of
the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.
Jim loved fishing,
traveling, being along the river and watching for deer or
turkey. Jim loved spending time with his family and
especially loved his time with his 'grandchildren and
great-granddaughter.

R. Ites, 60, of Alden, died on Monday, June 6, 2011, in
Williams.
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 11, at the United
Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. There will be a private
family burial at a later date. The Surls Funeral Home in
Iowa Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Dean was born on April 6,
1951, to Leonard and Elena (Meyer) Ites in Iowa Falls. He
graduated from the Alden High School in 1969. On September
30, 1995, Dean was united in marriage to Cathy Linn Cessford
in Iowa Falls. Dean was a self-employed carpenter and
enjoyed cards, snooker and games of chance.
Dean is survived by his
wife, Cathy of Alden; four daughters, Christina (Trent)
Michalski of Van Meter and their children, Aidan and Caleb;
Andrea (Mike) Petro of New Castle, Delaware and their
children, Dante and Vinny; Kelly (Jerry) Hartema of Alden
and their children, Mackenzie and Morgan Williams and Scott
and Rachel Hartema; and Kristie (Dave) Forgy of Alden and
their children, Colton, Blake, Mallorie and Miranda; his
mother, Elena Ites of Iowa Falls; a brother, Robert (Dee)
Ites of Alden; and a sister, Pat (Rick) Bennett of Rockwell
City.
Dean was preceded in death
by his father, Leonard; uncle, Robert Ites; and
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Mary Cessford.

FALLS—Myrna Shaner, 87, formerly of Waterloo, died at the
Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls, on Thursday, June 9,
2011.
Myrna Irene Shaner, was
born on August 23, 1923 in Robertson, the daughter of Lloyd
and Golda Smith Shaner. Myrna worked as a cashier at
Bishop's Cafeteria in Waterloo for 39 years, retiring in
1986. Myrna was a beautiful lady, kind hearted and full of
laughter.
She enjoyed being out,
going for rides, Sunday at Burger King, and being with
friends. She loved to cook for friends and collected
cookbooks.
Myrna is survived by her
niece, Glenda Clayes of Castro Valley, California; nephew,
Ron Shaner of Fresno, California; great-niece, Aimee Shaner
of Fresno; and many friends.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; stepfather, Charles Meyers; brother, Glen V.
Shaner; and sister-in-law, Pearl Shaner.
Services: It was Myrna's
request that her body be cremated. There will be no
visitation or service and graveside services will be held at
a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Muscular
Dystrophy Association. Arrangements by the Locke Funeral

ROCK—Wayne G. Frerichs, 70, of Steamboat Rock, died on
Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital
in Iowa Falls.
Funeral services were held
on Tuesday, June 14, at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley,
with burial in the Jackson Township Cemetery, Owasa.
Wayne George Frerichs, was
born on January 24, 1941 in Eldora, to George and Alfreda (Klatt)
Frerichs. Wayne was born and raised in the Hardin City area
and attended the Steamboat Rock Schools, graduating in 1959.
In 1963, Wayne was drafted into the United States Army,
completing basic training in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri.
Wayne served at Fort McLellan, Alabama, until his discharge
in 1965. After his discharge from the military, Wayne
returned to his roots in Hardin City to work on the Frerichs
family farm. On November 19, 1982, Wayne was united in
marriage to Elaine Rewerts at the Frerichs farm in Hardin
City. Until his death in 2011, Wayne enjoyed spending time
with his dogs, farming the family farm, raising his
livestock, fishing, hunting mushrooms and deer, playing with
his great-great-nephews, Ryne Pickering and Gage Van Loh and
visiting with many family friends.
Surviving his memory are
his loving wife, Elaine Frerichs at home; a sister and
brother-in-law, Margaret and George Walter of Zearing;
nephews, Lonnie Frerichs of St. Rock, Kyle (Missy) Frerichs
of Enfield, Connecticut and Shawn Frerichs of Apache
Junction, Arizona; great-nieces, Tricia (Luke) Pickering and
family of St. Rock and Amity Frerichs and Todd Van Loh and
family of Wellsburg; great-great nephew, Jacob Frerichs of
Florida; sisters-in-law, Patricia Frerichs of Iowa Falls,
Louise (Paul) Hosch and family of Aplington, Ruth (Denny)
Hosch and family of Cresco and Linda Castillo and family of
Texas; and many family friends.
Wayne was preceded in
death by his parents; a brother, Harlan Frerichs; nephew,
Denny Frerichs; and a great-nephew, Zachary Frerichs.

Evans Kornfeld, 84, of rural Williams, died on Saturday,
June 11, 2011, at the Van Diest Medical Center in Webster
City.

Doris Laurel Evans,
daughter of Theodore and Verda Opal Grove Evans, was born on
December 15, 1926, on the family farm in Williams. She
graduated from the Dows Community Schools. She married
Walter Kornfeld in February 1949. She worked at TRW
Aerospace Systems in Randio Beach, California, retiring in
1992. She then returned to the family farm in Williams where
she volunteered her time on sewing projects for American
veterans and cancer patients.
Doris is survived by her
sons, Thomas Kornfeld of Greenville, South Carolina and Hans
"Ted" Kornfeld of Mableton, Georgia; grandchildren, Lacy and
Alex Kornfeld of Greenville, South Carolina; and a sister,
Carole Fitzgerald of Eugene, Oregon.
The Foster Funeral and
Cremation Center of Webster City, was in charge of the

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at the
Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley, with a 7:00 p.m. scripture
service.
Evelyn Irene Keninger, was
born on November 12, 1925, on the Harken family farm
southeast of Austinville, the daughter of Eno and Hannah
(Deters) Harken. She graduated from the Ackley High School.
On January 2, 1945. Evelyn was united in marriage to William
Keninger in Ackley. She was a homemaker and was a member of
the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley and the Alter
Society.
Evelyn is survived by her
children, Luanne Chesshire and her husband, John of Newton,
Michael Keninger and his wife, Deann of Ackley, Dale
Keninger and his wife, Debbi of Ackley, Kathy Bartling and
her husband, Myrin of Iowa Falls, Jon Keninger and his wife,
Teresa of Ackley, Kent Keninger and his wife, Audrea of
Ackley, Jean Strong and her husband, Randy of Hudson,
Wisconsin and Jane Wiertsema and her husband, Steve of
Rochester, Minnesota; 22 grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Merna Sietsema and her husband, Gordon of Hampton.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband, William; a sister, Mildred Ubben;
and a brother, Kenneth Harken.

HUBBARD—Marjorie
Hornung, age 89, formerly of Hubbard, died on Monday, June
20, 2011, at the New Aldaya Lifescapes Facility in Cedar
Falls.
Funeral services were held
on Thursday, June 23, at the Salem United Methodist Church
in Hubbard, with burial in the Hubbard Cemetery. The Boeke
Funeral Home in Hubbard, was in charge of the arrangements.
Marjorie Helen Hornung,
was born on January 9, 1922, the daughter of Dr. Adolph and
Frances (Schultze) Thoms in Fort Dodge. In her early years,
she and her family moved from Fort Dodge to Texas briefly,
and then to Terril. When she was 15 years old the family
moved to Cedar Falls, where her father set up his medical
practice. Marjorie graduated in 1939 from the Price Lab
School and then went on to graduate from Iowa State Teachers
College in 1943. During her freshman year at college, she
met Arvene Hornung of Hubbard. They were married on May 21,
1943, at the First Methodist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The early years of married life found her and Arvene living
in Inglewood, California, where their first son, Gary, was
born in 1944. In the fall of 1945 after World War II, she
and Arvene returned to Iowa, moving to the Hornung family
farm near Hubbard. Back in Iowa, Marjorie and Arvene had two
more sons, Richard and Wayne.
Besides being a mother and
homemaker on the family farm, she taught French as well as
several other subjects for 21 years for the Hubbard
Community Schools. Marjorie studied abroad in France.
Altogether, she attended 11 different colleges and
universities as she continued her education. Marjorie
retired from teaching in 1984 and continued living in
Hubbard. In 2007, Marjorie moved to the Cedar Falls area. In
2008, she moved to the Lutheran Home, currently known as the
New Aldaya Lifescapes. After a long battle with renal
failure and diabetes, Marjorie passed away.
Marjorie will be
remembered as a loving wife and mother, a thoughtful and
caring teacher, as well as mentor to many former students,
family and friends.
Marjorie is survived by
sons, Richard (Shelley) of Madrid and Wayne (Carol) of Cedar
Falls; daughter-in-law, Jane Hornung of Eldora; six
grandchildren, Melanie (Steve) Kulow of Iowa Falls, Troy
(Tina) Hornung of Hubbard, Grant Hornung of Waterloo,
Kristin Hornung of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and Jay and Tim
Hornung of Madrid; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert
Thoms of Marshalltown; sister, Louise (Don) McGinnis of
Cedar Falls; and several other family members.
She was preceded in death
by husband, Arvene Hornung; son, Gary; parents, Dr. Adolph
and Frances Thorns; an infant sister, Frances Margaret (died
at birth), and sister, Bernice Tucker.

FALLS—Lillian Locke, 96, of Iowa Falls, passed away on
Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls.
Funeral services were held
on Friday, June 24, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa
Falls, with Pastor Paul Beisel officiating. Burial was in
the Alden Township Cemetery, Alden. Memorials may be
directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Linn's Funeral
Homes Iowa Falls Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
Lillian was born on
February 11, 1915 at Buckeye, to Ferdinand and Augusta
(Lange) Klein. She was baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden.
She was reared and educated in the vicinity of Alden,
graduating from the Alden High School in 1933. She attended
St. Louis University, completing a course in communications
in 1943. She taught communications at many Army posts until
they were closed and was employed as a claims examiner at
the Veterans Administration in Kansas City, Missouri.
On June 18, 1949, she was
joined in marriage to Marvin W. Locke at the St. Paul's
Lutheran Church in Alden. In 1956 she and her husband,
Marvin, purchased a jewelry store in Eagle Grove. In
February of 1973 their store was destroyed by a gas
explosion two stores away. In 1984 she accepted a position
with the Iowa Jewelers and Watchmakers Association as
executive director. She worked for them 13 years before
retiring in 1997. In April 1989 she and Marvin moved to Iowa
Falls and became members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church,
where she served as president and secretary for the Joy
Circle and taught religious classes, Sunday School and
summer religious school. She was a member of the American
Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary in Eagle Grove.
Her husband, Marvin,
passed away in May 2001 and in 2004 she became a resident of
Ashbrook and later Scenic Manor. In February 2011 she
celebrated her 96th birthday.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Marvin; sisters, Anna
Kastendick, Elsa Klein, Irene Richards and Esther Pfeffer;
and brothers, Fred, Paul, Frank, Walter, Robert, Herman and
Irwin "Bud" Klein.
She is survived by her
sisters, Doris Rieks and Edna Sanders; and sister-in-law,
Mavis Klein.

FALLS—Marlys Irene (Fahrmann) Picht, 82, of Iowa Falls,
passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Scenic

held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 25, at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls. Burial will be in the Union
Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls.

Marlys was born on May 2,
1929, at her parents' home in Latimer. She was the youngest
of three children born to Dietrich (Dick) and Emma (Plagge)
Fahrmann. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul's
Lutheran Church in Latimer. She received her early education
at the St. Paul's Parochial School. She later graduated from
the Franklin Consolidated High School. On January 29, 1950,
Marlys was united in marriage to James Anthony Picht at the
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Latimer. Their marriage was
blessed with five children, Rhonda, Kent, Linda, Brenda and
Sondra. James and Marlys farmed in the Iowa Falls area all
their lives. They retired to their home in Iowa Falls in
1990. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.
Marlys enjoyed
scrapbooking, quilting, gardening, baking, cooking, gift
wrapping, basketball and playing cards. Marlys was a member
of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her
husband, James; one son, Kent (Rhonda) Picht of Iowa Falls;
four daughters, Rhonda Peterson of Forest City, Linda
(Denny) Ofstedahl of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Brenda (John)
Meineke of Muscatine and Sondra (Jeff) Ostheimer of
Boscobel, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Jamie,
Jesse, Jared, Jenna, Jordan, Jillian, Jessica, Abby, Paige,

HUBBARD—Fern
Tidman, 93, of Hubbard, passed away on Thursday, June 23,
2011, at the Hubbard Care Center.
Funeral services were held
on Monday, June 27, at the First United Methodist Church,
Iowa Falls. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls.
The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel was entrusted
with the arrangements.
Fern Bertha Neubauer, was
born on August 12, 1917, at her parents' home in Radcliffe.
She was the daughter of Fred Henry Herman and Erna Hulda
Caroline (Ziebell) Neubauer. She was baptized on August 28,
1917 and confirmed on March 26, 1931 at the St. John's
Lutheran Church, Hubbard. She attended the Fairview District
#8 country school and graduated from the Buckeye High School
in 1935. On February 23, 1938, Fern was united in marriage
to John Fredrick Tidman at her parents' home southwest of
Iowa Falls. In 1939, the couple purchased a farm on Highway
65 south of Iowa Falls, where they farmed and raised their
fami1y. The couple had five children, Dennis, James,
Carolyn, Allan and Mary. After John's death in 1973, Fern
remained on the farm until she moved to Iowa Falls in 1991.
In 2005, she moved to the Hubbard Care Center.
She was a member of the
United Methodist church of Owasa, the Women's Society of UMW,
the Congenial Country Club for Women (CCC) and the Bible
Study Club.
Fern Tidman is survived by
a son, James (Lois) Tidman of Iowa Falls; daughters, Carolyn
(Stephen) Burkhardt of Osage and Mary (Roger) Knutson of
Hubbard; two daughters-in-law, Lois Tidman of Eldora and
Janelle Tidman of Iowa Falls; 12 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; a sister, Geneva Hayden of Port Richey,
Florida; and a brother, Kermit Neubauer of Iowa Falls.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Fred and Erna Neubauer; her husband, John
Tidman; two sons, Dennis Tidman and Allan Tidman; a
daughter-in-law, Ruth Tidman; a son-in-law, Kenneth Neuhaus;
a sister and brother-in-law, Garnet and Edward Schermer; a
sister-in-law, Evelyn Neubauer; and a brother-in-law, Marion
Hayden.

96, of Cooper City, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January
16, 2011.
A graveside memorial
service will be held on Saturday, June 25, at 11:00 a.m., in
the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kern

HAMPTON—Byron L. Bales,
88, of Hampton, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the
Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.
Funeral services will be
held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, June 29, at the Trinity
Lutheran Church in Hampton. Burial will take place in the
Hampton Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home is in
charge of the arrangements.
Byron L. Bales, was born on February 22, 1923
in Dimmit, Texas, to Ansel L. and Alva F. (Metcalf) Bales.
Byron graduated from the Hansell School in 1940. He served
his Country in the United States Navy and Army. Byron
married Elizabeth Mennenga on January 12, 1947 in Shell
Rock, Iowa. He was a farmer and later in his life he became
a carpenter.
Byron was a member of the
Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, was a member of Disabled
Veterans of America, the Farm Bureau and was also a 4-H
Leader. He was part of the Hampton Community for his entire
life. Byron enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, was an avid
Minnesota Twins Fan and enjoyed woodworking. He was proud of
the many homes he built in the area and most of all his
three children.
Byron is survived by his
daughters, Carol (George) Gartrell of Otterburne, Manitoba,
Canada and Nancy Lee of Kauai, Hawaii; son, Gary (Kristin)
Bales of Gig Harbor, Washington; four grandchildren, Jenni
Adams, Jill Adams, Daniel Bales and Sarah Bales; and one
great-grandson, Sawyer Titheradge.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; and his daughter, Mary
Louise Bales.

FALLS—Doris Arlene Rewerts, 86, of Iowa Falls, passed away
on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Scenic Manor.
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 29, at the Church of
the Open Bible, Iowa Falls. Burial will be in the Northlawn
Memory Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Doris Arlene Bates, was
born on May 7, 1925 at Cartersville, the daughter of Alta M.
(Greatreaks) and Maurice A. Bates. She graduated from the
Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1943. On September
5, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to George Leonard
Rewerts at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Doris worked
for the Ackley Corn Pack, Trojan Seeds, Harris Publishing,
Greenbelt Home Care, cleaned for several local businesses
and sold Stanley Products from her home for over 35 years.
Doris and George served as foster parents for eight children
over several years.
She was a member of the
Church of the Open Bible, participated in Bible study,
Dorcas, Winning Women, Eastside Ladies Aid and Card Club. In
1970, Doris was named "Woman of the Year" by the Iowa Falls
Business and Professional Women's Club. Along with being a
homemaker for her four adopted children, she was grandmother
to eight and great-grandmother to 11. Doris was an excellent
cook and enjoyed gardening, fishing and crocheting. After
nearly 50 years of marriage, her beloved husband, George
passed away in 1993.
Doris is survived by her
children, John (Carol) Rewerts of Iowa Falls, Katherine
Newton of Iowa Falls, Mary Jo (James) Schaeffer of Grimes
and Linda (Steve) Burroughs of Iowa Falls; eight
grandchildren, Wesley, Sarah, Jennie, Amber, Chelsea, Levi,
Sienna and Jonah; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan,
Skylar, Ethan, Calen, Deniesha, D'Siaha, Dylan, Morgan,
Madison and London; and one brother, Darrel (Dorothy) Bates
of Iowa Falls.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Maurice and Alta Bates; and her husband,
George Rewerts.

Ludens, 79, of Hampton, died on Monday, June 27, 2011, at
the Franklin General Hospital, from complications of
congestive heart failure.
Funeral services were held
on Friday, July 1, at the Zion Reformed Church, Sheffield.
Interment was in the church cemetery. The Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home in Hampton, was in charge of the arrangements.

Fink, 81, of Latimer, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011,
at his home in rural Latimer.
Funeral services will be
held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 5, at the Richland
Lutheran Church in Thornton. Visitation will be from 4-7:00
p.m., on Monday, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in
Hampton.

Elmo "Doc" Joseph Kramer

ACKLEY—Elmo Kramer, 87, of
Ackley, died on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the Ellsworth
Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.
Services were held on
Saturday, July 2, at the St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Ackley, with burial in the church cemetery. The
Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley, was in charge of the
arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
donations be made to the Presbyterian Village in Elmo's
name.
Elmo "Doc" Joseph Kramer,
was born on February 10, 1924, to Lorenz and Francis (Puettmann)
in Stacyville. Elmo enlisted into the U.S. Army and served
in the later part of World War II. He worked as the
territory maintenance man for AMOCO Oil Company. On August
12, 1947, Elmo was united in marriage to Eleanor Gertrude
Hackenmiller.
Elmo was a member of the
Catholic Church, American Legion, Elks Club, Moose Lodge and
the Ackley Recreational Club.
Elmo is survived by his
wife, Eleanor of Ackley; five sons, Tom (Eileen) Kramer of
Aplington, Keith Kramer of Ackley, Larry (Pam) Kramer of
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Mike (Kelley) Kramer of Urbandale and
Brian (Dana) Kramer of Urbandale; a daughter, Mary Ann (Tom)
Wood of Iowa Falls; two brothers, Fritz (Verena) Kramer of
Stacyville and Kenneth (Larraine) Kramer of Adams,
Minnesota; a sister, Lorene (Richard) King of Rose Creek,
Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many
nieces and nephews.

Constance "Connie" Blair

DURANT—A memorial service
for Constance "Connie" L. Blair, 64, of Durant, formerly of
Iowa Falls, will be held on Sunday, July 10, at Foster Park
in Iowa Falls. The memorial
service will be at 2:00 p.m., following the Tjarks family
reunion.
Connie Blair died suddenly
on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the Genesis West Medical
Center in Davenport. Per her request, Connie's remains were
donated to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine
for scientific purposes.
The daughter of Douglas
and Gladys Tjarks Rodgers, was born on January 9, 1947 in
Iowa Falls. She graduated from the Iowa Falls High School.
She married Gene "Duff" Blair in 1965. Connie successfully
sold Avon products for many years, earning the prestigious
Presidential Club Member Status. She later retired from
Micro-Surface in Wilton, where she worked for 20 years.
She was a member of the
Wahkonsa Country Club, the Durant American Legion Auxiliary
and the United Methodist Church of Wilton. She enjoyed golf,
bowling, dancing and country music. Above all she enjoyed
spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a
daughter, Tiffiny and husband, Stacy Meinert of Tipton; two
sons, Travis and wife, Elaine Blair of Edwardsville,
Illinois and Trent Blair of Iowa Falls; eight grandchildren;
her mother, Gladys Norris of Iowa Falls; a sister, Mary Ann
and husband, George Dougan of Iowa Falls; and a very special
friend, Roy Kabela of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death
by her father; her stepfather, George Norris; and a sister,
Diana Bozarth.
