HAMPTON - Lucille Elizabeth Cassmann, 86, of Hampton died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, east campus, Mason City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery in Dumont.

Lucille was born May 4, 1918, in Dumont to Frank and Lela (Truax) Eisentrager. She graduated from Dumont High School in 1936. On April 22, 1942, Lucille was united in marriage to Leroy Cassmann at Aredale. The couple moved to Albert City where they lived until 1944, when Leroy entered the Navy and she moved back to Dumont. In 1946, they moved to their present home in Hampton. Lucille was a homemaker and worked at Harrison Variety in Hampton. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Lucille enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, crafts, camping and playing cards.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy Cassmann of Hampton; one son, Dennis and wife Linda of Clear Lake; one daughter, JoAnn Harmelink of Perry; four sisters, Dorothy Bruns of Dumont, Phyllis Harms and husband Harold of Bristow, Beverly Folken and husband Henry of Parkersburg, and Sharon Eilers and husband Nathan of Hampton; two brothers, Dale and wife Mary Ann of Bristow and Richard and wife Esther of Dumont; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; one brother; anda half-brother.

Clara Ingebritson

IOWA FALLS - Clara Julia Ingebritson, 86, of Iowa Falls died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 1, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with burial at the church cemetery.

Clara was born May 17, 1918, in Valley County, Neb., to Peter and Victoria (Gregoroski) Duda. She attended rural Valley County country schools through the eighth grade. Clara had been employed at an airplane factory in Wyoming during WWII where she met her future husband. On May 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to Leland Ingebritson. Clara was a homemaker and worked for Farmland Foods for a short time. She was a member of St. Mark parish and the parish guild, the Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1331, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 188 of Iowa Falls.

Survivors include her five sons, Tom and wife Sharon of Hubbard, Bill and wife Virginia of Helena, Mont., Mike and wife Linda, Mark and wife Lori and Chuck, all of Iowa Falls; one daughter, Julie Ziesman and husband James of Alden; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond and Jim, both of Ord, Neb., and Edward of Alexandria, Va.; and three sisters, Florence Baston of Casper, Wyo., Bernice Fiala of Ainsworth, Neb., and Lorraine Lukesh of Ord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John; and one sister, Dorothy Sacotte.

Robert L. Krause

SEWARD, Neb. - Robert Lowell Bob Krause, 80, of Seward, Neb., formerly of Alden, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Lincoln, Neb. Funeral services were Thursday, May 27, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, with Rev. Mark G. Cutler officiating. Burial was at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb., with full military honors provided by the VFW Post No. 4755.

Bob was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Hardin County to William and Edna (Clauson) Krause. He attended school in Hardin County and graduated from Alden High School in 1942. Bob entered the U.S. Marine Corp on July 16, 1942, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII and also served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged July 16, 1946. On June 16, 1947, Bob was united in marriage to E. Kay Kelly at Waterloo. Bob operated a bulldozing business, Krause Dozing, in Alden. The couple moved to Weeping Water, Neb., and in 1969 moved to Seward. In 1990, he retired from the American Salt Co. as a sales representative. In 1992, he became a consultant to Lyons Salt Co. as a salesman trainer, retiring again in 1993. Bob was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, VFW Post No. 4755 at Seward and the American Legion Post No. 110 at Dwight, Neb.

Survivors include his wife, Kay of Seward; one daughter, Linda Swanson and husband Kent of North Platte, Neb.; two sons, Robert of Seward and Richard of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Jean Hurst of El Paso, Texas; two brothers, Bill and wife Esther of Alden and John and wife Marge of Iowa Falls; and a sister-in-law, Dixie Krause of Alden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wally Krause; and one brother-in-law, James Hurst.

Maxine Nichols

HUBBARD - Maxine Sarah Nichols, 88, of Hubbard died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Hubbard Care Center. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard, with Rev. John Attaway and Jeff Filkins officiating. Burial will be in the Hubbard Cemetery.

Maxine was born Feb. 1, 1916, in Strawberry Point to Ralph and Edna Mae (Miles) Dunn. She received her education by attending country schools and later Strawberry Point High School. On Oct. 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Raymond Nichols in Manchester. The couple lived in Strawberry Point, Elkader, Oelwein, Mingo and Radcliffe before moving to Hubbard in 1961. She had been employed by Flossie's Cafe, Hubbard Community School and the Legion Cafe. Maxine was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ, the Hubbard American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. In September 2001, Maxine entered the Hubbard Care Center and participated in numerous programs offered.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth and wife Sue and Royce and wife Karen, all of Hubbard; four grandchildren, Jenny Pekarek and husband Todd of Union, Josie Lemke and husband Bryce and Jamie Corbin and husband Matt all of Nevada, and Jeremy Mersman of Sac City; five great-grandchildren, Tiffany Mersman, Riley Corbin, Payton and Kade Pekarek and Addison Kemke; one brother, Burnell Dunn and wife Rosemary of Strawberry Point; and one sister-in-law, Helen Breitsprecher and husband Harold of Hazelton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Donald.

DOWS - Robert G. Krukow, 66, of Dows, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ewing Dugger Dows Community Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Watne officiating. The body will be cremated after the funeral. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services Thursday.

Lucille Elizabeth Cassmann, age 86 of Hampton, passed away May 29, 2004 at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus in Mason City. Funeral services were held June 2, 2004 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton with Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial followed in the Dumont Cemetery in Dumont.

Lucille was born May 4, 1918 in Dumont, the daughter of Frank and Lela (Truax) Eisentrager. She was raised in Dumont, and graduated from Dumont High School in 1936. She married Leroy Cassmann on April 22, 1942 in Aredale. They moved to Albert City before he entered the Navy and she moved to Dumont. The couple moved to their home in Hampton in 1946. Cassmann had been a homemaker, and worked at Harrison Variety in Hampton. She was also a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

She is survived by: her husband; son Dennis (Linda) Cassmann of Clear Lake; daughter JoAnn (Don) Harmelink of Perry; sisters Dorothy Bruns of Dumont, Phyllis (Harold) Harms of Bristow, Beverly (Henry) Folken of Parkersburg and Sharon (Nathan) Eilers of Hampton; brothers Dale (Mary Ann) Eisentrager of Bristow and Richard (Esther) Eisentrager of Dumont; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; granddaughter Melanie Cassmann; brother Earl Eisentrager; and half-brother Glenn Eisentrager. The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of the arrangements.

Dean Wood

IOWA FALLS - Dean Wood, 73, of Iowa Falls died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m. the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with Rev. Joe Register officiating. Burial is in the Northlawn Memory Cemetery.

Dean was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Iowa Falls to Harold and Eileen (Moore) Wood. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1949. Dean served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1955. On June 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Waggoner at Fort Dodge. Dean enjoyed deer hunting, hunting elk in the western United States, fishing and moose hunting in Canada and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Iowa Falls; three sons, Dan Wood, Tom and wife Mary Ann and their children, Sara and Tyler, and Bill Wood and his children, Trisha and Stephanie Wood and Nathan and Nicholas See, all of Iowa Falls; one daughter, Tammy Danger and her children, Desiree and Mariah of Iowa Falls; and one sister Catherine Gallea of Papillon, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, DeWeiss Ribelin and Linda Folkerts.

DUMONT - Herman E. Korte, 89, of Dumont died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the Dumont Care Center in Dumont. Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Bristow with Rev. Scott Summers officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 10, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont.

Herman was born June 1, 1915, in Hancock County to Albert and Jennie (Harms) Korte. He attended Hancock County Schools. On Jan. 6, 1942, Herman was united in marriage to Christina Janssen at her parents' home. He was a farmer and enjoyed hunting deer, going to his cabin in Minnesota every summer to fish and traveling with his wife.

Survivors include his wife, Christina of Dumont; two sisters, Francis Eilderts of Aplington and Marian Beitelman of Monticello, Ill.; and two brothers, Elmer of Boone and John and wife Vera of Wyoming, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

HAMPTON - Donna Allen, 64, of Hampton died Monday June 7, 2004, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 12, at 3 p.m. at the Light House of Life in Hampton with Merle and Joyce Wagnor speaking. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at a later date in New Gloucester, Maine.

Donna was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Mankato, Minn., to Murril and Mary (Harris) Beers. She attended Hampton High School. On July 6, 1971, Donna was united in marriage to Gary Allen at Humboldt. She was a housewife, and worked at the Light House Cafe. Donna was an active member of the Light House of Life. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Beers of Hampton; six daughters, Mary Ripley and husband Bill of Moline, Ill., Deb Allen and fiancee' Lynn Lumley of Hampton, Tammy Brass and special friend Al Brandt of Geneva, Robin Hargreaves and husband Erik of New Gloucester, Maine, Brendi Fredrickson and husband Rick of Iowa Falls, and Barbi Wise and husband Matt of Hampton; two sons, Gary Jr. and wife Carrie of Sheffield and Bradley and wife Tiffani of Hampton; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Gary; and one brother, Don Beers.

ELDORA - Herman R. Cope, 37, of Eldora died Monday, June 7, 2004, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Eldora. Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Steve Braudt officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is Thursday, June 10, from 5-8 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Herman was born Feb. 12, 1967, in Omaha, Neb., to Loren Sr. and Marjorie (Punke) Cope. He was raised in Stratford, residing in Cedar Rapids and Clarion prior to moving to Eldora in 1999. Herman had previously been married to Yvone Mollenax and Calleen Randall before marrying Julie Kubalek on June 17, 2000. He worked for Quality Products of Eldora as "lead person" and enjoyed figure eight racing with his wife, Julie, at area race tracks.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Jamie Northrup of Woodward, Rick of Eldora, Austin and Kayla of Brownsville, Texas, Angelica Hacker, Chassity Williams and Tony Kubalek, all of Eldora; five sisters, Tami Osten of Cedar Rapids, Susan Wessels of Redding, Calif., Joy Slater of Hollywood, Fla., Carrie Dunbar of Fort Dodge and Rhonda Schwandt of Iowa City; two brothers, Loren Cope Jr. of Millersberg and Paul Cope of Illinois; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Alan Waddell.

A memorial fund is being established in his name.

ELDORA-- An Eldora man is dead and another man is in jail, being charged with vehicular homicide following a single vehicle wreck early Monday morning in Eldora.

Around 2:35 a.m., the Eldora Police Department was notified of a single-vehicle accident in front of the former Eldora Regional Medical Center. Twenty-two-year-old Benjamin Trujillo of Eldora, was driving a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus, eastbound on Hwy. 175 (Edgington Avenue). The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control, leaving the road and entering onto the south shoulder. The vehicle continued to travel east in the lawn at the former Eldora Regional Medical Center, striking several fixed objects including a signpost, fire hydrant, phone boxes, and a welcome sign with a stone foundation. The vehicle rolled, as it traveled east, and came to a rest on its wheels.

The front seat passenger, Herman Cope, 37, of Eldora, was fatally injured in the accident. The back seat passenger, Phillip Huggett, 30, of Eldora, was taken by ambulance to Ellsworth Municipal Hospital where he was flown to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Huggett was listed in critical condition at press time.

The driver of the vehicle, Trujillo, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, a Class C Felony, and serious injury by vehicle, a Class D felony. Trujillo is currently being held in the Hardin County Jail on $22,750 bond.

The Eldora Police Department was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol, Eldora Emergency Medical Services, Eldora Fire Department, Hardin County Medical Examiner, and the South Hardin E-Squad. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Melvin Guse

WATERLOO - Melvin H. Guse, 85, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, died of pneumonia Friday, June 4, 2004, at DVA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 10, at 11 a.m. the Faith Assembly of God in Elk Run Heights with burial in the Garden of Memories with full military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 9, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.

Melvin was born June 30, 1918, in Galt to Herman (Carl) and Florence (Rose) Guse. He attended school in northeast Iowa. Melvin joined the U.S. Army April 17, 1941. He belonged to the 34th Division 133rd Infantry (Red Bull Division). On Dec. 14, 1956, Melvin married Jackie Brown at Nashua. He worked at Rath Packing Co. as a meat packer for 26 years until his retirement in 1980. Melvin enjoyed camping, baseball and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Stanley Guse of Mesa, Ariz., Michael Hindal of Mason City and Robert Hindal Jr. and wife Christy of Des Moines; two daughters, Patricia Hartman and husband Michael of Des Moines and Phyllis Hanf and husband Mitchell of Blaine, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Guse of Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Edith Kraemer and Dora Mumper; and one brother, Harry Guse.

IOWA FALLS - LaVon Simpson, 80, of Iowa Falls died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be Thursday, June 17, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

LaVon was born June 12, 1924, in Bradford to Floyd and Gladys (Dixon) McElvania. She retired from Greenbelt Bank and Trust, employed there many years as head bookkeeper, teller and in the computer department. LaVon was a former member of the BPW and a past state correspondence secretary of the BPW, member of the Methodist Church and a church circle. She enjoyed cross-stitching and has shared that talent with many people in the area.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlene Polzin and husband Ed of Marshalltown; one son, Ronald Simpson of Occoquan, Va.; six grandchildren, Tim Polzin and wife Dorothy of Los Angeles, Calif., Penny Schmidt and husband Brian of Clive, Jason Polzin and wife Dianna of Decatur, Ill., Jody Shifflet and husband Joe of Virginia, Michelle Sprague and husband Mark of Cedar Rapids and Jacob Woods of Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Owen and Olivia Schmidt, Joshua Shifflet, Hunter and Cassandra Polzin and Parker Sprague; and three brothers, Lyle McElvania and wife June of Liberal, Kan., Glen McElvania and wife Pat and Marlyn McElvania and wife Marlys, all of Alden.

Les was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Winterset to Eldon and Beulah (Eyerly) Thomas. He graduated from Winterset High School. On Jan. 20, 1946, Les was united in marriage to Mildred Lindaman. He later married Charlotte Walter on Dec. 27, 1991. Les farmed his entire life, retiring in March of 2004. He was a member of the Popejoy Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; two sons, Laurel Thomas of Williams and Neil Thomas of Dows; a daughter-in-law, Marcie Thomas of Richardson, Texas, two step-sons, David Walter of Lennox and Karl Walter of Clarinda; two step-daughters, Judy Jones of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Bonnie Boswell of Corning; five grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; a son, Paul; and a grandson, Jonathan.

IOWA FALLS - Leo Praska, 67, of Iowa Falls died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Services will be Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with The Rev. James Dubert and The Rev. Phil Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, from 2 until 9 p.m., with family present during those hours, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with an Elk's service at 6:30 p.m., a scripture service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus service.

Leo was born Aug. 26, 1936, in rural Elma to Louis and Florence (Clynch) Praska. He graduated from Cresco High School and Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Leo was a territory salesman for Agco. On Aug. 5, 1957, Leo was united in marriage to Darlyne Henry in Blufton. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Iowa Falls Elks Club BPOE No. 1674.

Survivors include his wife, Darlyne, of Iowa Falls; a daughter Connie Praska Reece and fiancé John Anast of Des Moines; two sons, Ron and wife Beth of Champlin, Minn., and Ryan and wife Kelly of Des Moines; four grandchildren; a brother, Donald and wife Angie of Cresco; and one sister, Gloria Drilling of New Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Francis; three brothers-in-law, Wayne Milz, Gene Nadler and Don Henry; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Nadler and Betty Henry.

The family would appreciate donations to a memorial fund in lieu of flowers.

ELDORA - Arleen Moore, 88, of Eldora died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Eldora with Pastor Fred Rosenkrans officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Garden in Eldora.

Arleen was born March 1, 1916, in Wellsburg to John and Rena (Claassen) Freerksen. She graduated from the Steamboat Rock High School in 1932. On Aug. 24, 1936, Arleen was united in marriage to Charles "Hib" Moore in Marshalltown. They lived in Ackley, Newton and Marshalltown, residing in Eldora since 1946. She worked in her husband's business, Moore Oil Co., in Eldora as bookkeeper. Arleen was a member of the First Assembly of God.

Survivors include one son, John of Spokane, Wash.; two grandchildren, Shawn Penningroth of Mesa, Ariz., and Laura Penningroth of Aiken, S.C.; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Janice Miller; her parents; and three brothers, Elmer, Arthur and Leslie.

ELDORA - Susan F. Harris, 64, of Eldora died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at her home while under the care of Hospice of North Central Iowa and her family. Funeral services were Monday, June 14, at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock with Pastor Bruce Baillie officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Susan was born April 21, 1940, to Harold and Luella (Godfrey) McStockard. She was raised in the Eldora, New Providence and Gifford area, receiving her education in the New Providence and Eldora school systems. Susan went on to become a nurse's aid and medical aid. On Dec. 2, 1961, she was united in marriage to Vernon Harris in Eldora. They lived in Steamboat Rock from 1970-1985, moving to Eldora for a short time before going to Marshalltown to work for the Marshall County Care Facility for about 10 years. In 1998, they returned to Eldora. Susan had previously worked as a housekeeper, nurse's aid and med aid, being employed by the Marshall County Care Facility, Dodger Industries, Eldora Manor, and most recently by Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora for the past five and one-half years. She retired in December 2003 due to medical reasons. Susan enjoyed crocheting, scrap-booking and listening to country music, but most of all enjoyed visiting friends and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon; her stepmother, Margie McStockard of Eldora; six children, Dan McStockard and wife Nancy of Ottumwa, Brenda Nichols and husband Brian of Eldora, Mike Harris and wife Deb of Steamboat Rock, Melody Cue and husband Randy of Kinross, David Harris and wife Rose Hammond of Killduff and Dawna Augustine of California; five sisters, Barbara Meiers of Eldora, Kathryn Catherwood of Union, Cheryl Rohlfsen of Wellsburg, Angela Blair of Alden and Beverly Miller of Whitten; three brothers, Lyle Marquis of Gainesville, Ga., Larry McStockard of Whitten and Harold McStockard Jr. of Steamboat Rock; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

HAMPTON - W. David "Dave" Koerner, 71, of Hampton died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Private burial will be at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton.

Dave was born June 5, 1933, in Dubuque to Walter and Perle (Bishop) Koerner. He graduated from Dubuque High School and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in Iowa City. On June 24, 1956, Dave was united in marriage to Ruth Newland in Batavia. After college, he worked in Vinton as a pharmacist until 1957, he then moved to Hampton where he worked for Aagesen Drug. In 1959, Dave purchased the pharmacy, and in 1973 added a partner to his business. Following the sale of his share the business in 1995, he continued to work part-time for Koerner Whipple Pharmacy until he was unable to work. Dave was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. He enjoyed woodworking and quietly doing things for other people. His church and family were his passions.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Koenner of Hampton; two sons, Seth and wife Susan of Beach Park, Ill., and Phillip of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Ann Frandson and husband Steve of Clive; and six grandchildren, Isaac, Rebecca, Garrett, Kristen, Brenna and Nicole.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan.

HAMPTON - Lorraine Jones, 86, of Hampton died Friday, June 11, 2004, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 15, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton with Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial was at the Hampton Cemetery, Hampton.

Lorraine was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Butler County to Jake and Hattie (Knevel) Wessels. She was raised in the Bristow area, and graduated from Bristow High School where she participated in softball. Lorraine worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company at the switchboard. On Nov. 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Charles Jones at Hampton. Lorraine was a homemaker, and worked with her husband in the electrical business. She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church. Lorraine enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, picnicking, camping and caring for cats. She especially enjoyed the activities of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of Hampton; one daughter, Diana Harper of Hampton; one son, Russell Jones of Newton; four grandchildren, Tanya Harper-Rowe and husband John of Mason City, Tony Harper of Hampton, Lori Jones-Rouge and husband Phil of Texas, and Steven Jones of Newton; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Marge Schemmel and husband Don of Cedar Falls; and one brother, Jackie Wessels and wife Flavia of Dumont.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Don Wessels.

Jerry D. Arnold, 73, of Iowa Falls, passed away Monday, June 21, 2004, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Jerry Arnold 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26th at the Linn's Funeral Home chapel, Iowa Falls, with burial to follow at the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Tama, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel.

Jerry Duane Arnold was born May 18, 1931 at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Stanley Carlton and Marie C. [Sweet] Arnold. He attended the Iowa Falls Community School until the family moved to Waterloo in 1947 where he graduated from Waterloo West High School. He had been employed by Hoxie Fruit Company, Iowa Falls, the Cedar Falls Police Department, and the last twenty working years in Des Moines and Chicago, Illinois. In December of 1950 he was united in marriage to Janice C. Yost at Nashua, Iowa; they were later divorced. In October of 1966 he was united in marriage to Anna L. Kriegel, she died March in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents: Stanley and Marie Arnold.

He is survived by one daughter: Sara Arnold of Waterloo, Iowa and three sons: only one worth mentioning: Bruce Arnold of Renton, Washington; and one brother: Jon Arnold of Phoenix, Arizona; and a very close companion: Sandra Linn of Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Woodrow Knickerbocker

Woodrow "Woody" Knickerbocker, 87, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004, at his home. Memorial services for Woody Knickerbocker will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Linn's Funeral Home chapel, Iowa Falls. Woody donated his body to the University of Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Lupus Foundation. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Walter Woodrow Knickerbocker was born December 23, 1916, at his parents farm in Hamilton, County, Iowa, the son of Gesley J. and Clara S. (Tripp) Knickerbocker. He attended rural schools and graduated from the Radcliffe, Iowa, High School with the class of 1933. In 1935 he graduated from the Junior College in Webster City, Iowa, and returned to farm in Hamilton County. On February 11, 1939, he was united in marriage to Vivian Hendrickson, a lifelong neighbor. To this union a son Woodrow K. and daughter: Virginia Lee were born. They moved to Williams, Iowa where they were active in most local activities. He had worked for the Williams Creamery and also did heating, plumbing, and electrical work for the Dickenson Hardware in Williams. In 1958 they moved to Iowa Falls where Woody was the Street Superintendent for several years. Woody then worked for several years as a salesman, traveling to nearby cities and states selling equipment for a distributor out of Fort Dodge, Iowa. The job he had last and loved the most was working for the Michael Todd Corporation out of Omaha, Nebraska. He started as a salesman, became vice-president and had purchased an interest in the company. It was only after a severe heart attack that Woody finally retired from Michael Todd.

Woody is survived by his son: Woodrow Knickerbocker of Evans, Colorado; a granddaughter: Beth Knickerbocker and husband Dale Carson of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; a grandson: Lance Knickerbocker of Denver, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews, and some cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Gesley and Clara Knickerbocker; his wife: Vivian Knickerbocker; his daughter Virginia Knickerbocker; three brothers: Gesley Knickerbocker, Kirk Knickerbocker, Lester Knickerbocker; three sisters: Crete Keane, Helen Owen, Marian Kellogg; and two infant siblings.

A special thanks to Mrs. Nancy Wessels and Patricia Cunningham for taking care of him; and also to his very good friends at Michael Todd.

Mildred Lucille Holdredge was born July 31, 1910, at Ames, Iowa, the daughter of William Edwin and Carrie (Johnston) Holdredge. She attended the Ames, Iowa Community Schools graduating with the class of 1930. On April 21, 1932, she was united in marriage to Dale Murray Jackson at Ames, Iowa. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Iowa Falls Motor Supply for 25 years, and also was a restaurateur owning and managing the 77 Lounge and the Red Rooster Grill, Iowa Falls, with her husband for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Iowa Falls, the church circle, and the Iowa Falls Ellsworth Hospital Auxiliary, Iowa Falls.

"Mid" Jackson is survived by a daughter: Carolou Staley Elphic of Coulter, Iowa; five grandchildren: Teresa Fox and husband Dave of Hampton, Iowa, Brad Staley and wife Susan Staley of Hampton, Iowa, Tami Ridout and husband Scott of Eldora, Iowa, Brooke Pagano and husband Tony of Des Moines, Iowa, Tracei Leners and husband Tim of Des Moines, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Ethan, Alec, and Addison Leners of Des Moines, Nicholas Pagano of Des Moines, Tara Lyons and husband Sean of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Erik Fox of Iowa City, Iowa, Kyle Staley of Ames, Iowa, Megan Staley of Hampton, and Morgan and Gavin Ridout of Eldora, Iowa.

William Lester Manske was born June 17, 1926, at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Albert C. and Olive B. [Stoker] Manske. He attended rural Missouri schools. In 1952 he was united in marriage to Madelene Brindle in Tiawana, Mexico; they were later divorced. On April 8, 1980 he was united in marriage to Linda Rae Warner at Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was employed by A. L. & L. Milwright at Iowa Falls.

Red Manske is survived by his wife: Linda Rae Manske of Iowa Falls; one son: Norman W. Manske of Trona, California; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: and one brother: LaVon Manske.

CHAPIN - Ronald Erick Hansen Sr., 71, of Chapin died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at his home. Private funeral services will be held with burial in the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Ronald was born May 29, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., to Gaylord and Vera (Crosser) Hansen. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1954. On Jan. 1, 1955, Ronald was united in marriage to Marie Heuer at Nashua. He had been employed by Eaton's in Belmond as a machinist. Ronald enjoyed fishing, tinkering with small engines, woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald Jr. and wife Janice of Sheffield, Steven and wife Becky of Casper, Wyo., and LaMont of Hampton; four grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Olson of Iowa Falls; two nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister.

Mildred (Frayne) Larson

AMES - Mildred (Frayne) Larson, 84, of Ames, formerly of Williams, Blairsburg and Story City, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the Israel Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 29, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams with burial in the Williams Cemetery.

Mildred was born on Feb. 20, 1920, in Iowa City to Fred and Bertha (Schwartz) Lange. On Jan. 21, 1937, she was united in marriage to Maurice Frayne at Alden. After his death, Mildred married Carl "Don" Larson on Nov. 10, 1975, at Alden. She was a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams and a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Mildred enjoyed volunteer work at Bethesda Lutheran Church, which included quilting and working at their food pantry.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert Frayne and wife Patricia of Clear Lake and Ronald Frayne and wife Patricia of Garner; three daughters, Sharon Jones of Morenci, Ariz., and Gloria Wierda and husband Rollie and Darlene Pruismann and husband Mike, all of Ames; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two stepbrothers.

BUCKEYE - Arlene Kinney, 94, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Buckeye, died on Friday, June 25, 2004, in Omaha. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Buckeye with Pastor Jay Jaeger officiating.

Arlene was born Jan. 9, 1910, to Otto and Anna (Runge) Lettow. She was born and raised on the family farm in Hardin County near Buckeye. She graduated from Buckeye High School in 1928 and from the Simplot Sewing School at Edgewood in Iowa Falls. On Oct. 9, 1935, she was united in marriage to Clark E. Kinney in Buckeye. They farmed near Buckeye until 1960, when they went into the photo business and moved to Ackley and later to Iowa Falls. Arlene was sales person with Better Brush and Mary Kay Cosmetics, and a partner to her photographer husband at the Kinney's Studio. After retiring from the photography business, Arlene focused on her hobby of making reproductions of German and French china dolls, complete with handmade clothing. In later retirement years, the couple moved to Mesa, Ariz., where Arlene enjoyed watching the Cubs baseball team during spring training. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Buckeye.

Survivors include two sisters, Leona Douglas Bussert of Spencer and Marjorie Stensland of Radcliffe; one son, Dallas Kinney and wife Martha of Dahlonega, Ga.; one daughter, Rozanne Freeman and husband Arlen of Louisville, KY.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

Her parents; husband; six siblings, Luella Lettow, Gustav Lettow, Elmer Lettow, Martin Lettow, Everett "Rusty" Lettow and Patty Brinkmeyer; and two grandchildren preceded her in death.

HAMPTON - Sandra "Sandy" Kay Rhodes, 62, of Hampton died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at her home in Hampton of complications of cancer. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 29, at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville with Pastor David Walters officiating. Interment was in Lowell Cemetery, rural Clarksville.

Sandy was born May 22, 1942, to Irving and Esther (Luppen) Leerhoff in Hampton. She graduated from Allison-Bristow High School in 1960. Sandy was united in marriage with Edgar Rhodes on Aug. 4, 1963, in Luke, Miss. The couple made their home in Clarksville and moved to Hampton in 1978. Sandy was a member of the Lighthouse of Life in Hampton where she took part in the praise and worship team. She enjoyed playing guitar, painting, running and biking. She had earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Sandy was known for characters which she drew and on which she presented programs.

Survivors include her husband, Ed, of Hampton; one son, James, of Hampton; three daughters, Rebecca Schipper and husband Jim of Mason City, Susan Olmstead of Lake Mills and Nancy Rhodes of Hampton; six grandchildren; and one brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

HAMPTON - Kenneth Eugene Raisch, 85, of Hampton died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton with Rev. Karl Bollhagen officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery, Hampton.

Kenneth was born Jan. 6, 1919, in rural Hampton to Henry and Bertha (Von Gemmingen) Raisch. He graduated from Geneva High School. Kenneth served in the Pacific region during WW II in the U.S. Navy as an aviation machinist mate, first class petty Officer. On Jan. 30, 1944, he was united in marriage to Electa Johansen at Hampton. Kenneth farmed for more than 50 years near Geneva. He served as Franklin County Farm Bureau president, Franklin County Fair Board member, Franklin County Medical Center vice president and Geneva 4-H leader. Kenneth was known for his dairy business, which he received numerous awards and also for the use of new farming techniques to increase crop production and efficiency. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran League and the American Legion, all in Hampton.

Survivors include his wife, Electa, of Hampton; one son, Leslie and wife Ann of Eldora; two granddaughters; two brothers, Arthur of Hampton and Norman of Idaho; three sisters, Alice Pickens of California, Mildred Armfield of Coulter and Margaret Jensen of Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and two sisters.

Isabelle Bakker

ELDORA - Isabelle F. Bakker, 93, of Eldora died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, with Pastor Marlene Neher officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 8 until 11 a.m. at the Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg.

Isabelle was born Oct. 21, 1910, in Des Moines to Harry and Julia (Albright) Sheller. She lived in the Ivester area and received her education there, attending rural country school. On Aug. 26, 1946, Isabelle was united in marriage to George Bakker at Nashua. The couple lived on a farm in the Ivester area, later moving to Eldora for two years. In 1960, they moved to an acreage south of Steamboat Rock. Isabelle helped her husband farm. George died in 1983 and she continued to live on the acreage until 1996, when she moved to the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center.

Survivors include one nephew, LuVerne Bakker and wife Charlotte of Grundy Center; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Lynn Sheller.

Ann Laurel Kent

IOWA CITY - Ann Laurel Kent, 68, of 211 Richards St., Iowa City, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Volunteer Services or Iowa City Hospice.

Ann was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Hjalmer and Gladys (Goring) Johnson. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1953 and the University of Iowa with a B.A. degree. Ann and Tom Kent were married Dec. 22, 1957.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas H. Kent, MD; three children; six grandchildren; her mother, Gladys Johnson of Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; and two brothers.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Lensing Funeral & Cremation Services of Iowa City was in charge of arrangements.
