Gladys L. Krueger

HUBBARD - Gladys Lydia Krueger, 90, of Hubbard died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004. Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard with the Rev. Ron Ridgway officiating. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to join for lunch and fellowship in the Salem Fellowship Hall following the services at the cemetery.

Gladys was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Ecorse, Mich., to Henry and Lucy (Stevenson) Buck. Gladys lived and worked on the family farm in Romulus, Mich. She attended school through the eighth grade. During World War II, it was the custom of church families to invite soldiers to their homes for dinner after Sunday church services. The Buck family often hosted soldiers stationed in Detroit, Mich. and it was during one of those occasions that Gladys met Arnold Krueger of Hubbard. On March 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arnold in Dearborn, Mich., The couple moved to Hubbard to work and live on the Krueger family farm. Gladys was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church; she taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed preparing and serving church fellowship dinners. She loved to sew, knit and crochet. She was also an avid reader and loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Gladys is survived by her three daughters, Tamara and husband Dave Elerding of Hubbard, LuAnn and husband Mike Sherman of Bloomington, Minn., and Darlene and husband Lee Peterson of Orono, Minn.; four grandchildren, Ryan Elerding, Audrey Solheid and Megan and Erik Peterson; and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; and two brothers, Glen and Russell, her twin.

Paul L. Jansen

August 21, 1927 - November 26, 2004

PARKERSBURG - Paul Lavern Jansen, 77, of Parkersburg, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Allen Memorial Hospital of complications of heart disease. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Christian Reformed Church of Parkersburg with the Rev. Frank Pott officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg.

Paul was born Aug. 21, 1927, on his parents' farm north of Parkersburg, the son of John and Minnie (Kramer) Jansen. Paul served in the Army from March of 1946 to April of 1947. On June 28, 1949, he was united in marriage with Sylvia Vanderwerf in the Presbyterian Church in Aplington. After their marriage, the couple farmed at various locations in Butler and Grundy counties until 1963. Paul sold insurance and was a salesman for the local car dealership. He also worked for the Schwartz Funeral Home. He was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church, serving as a deacon, an elder, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent. He also participated in several gospel and barbershop choruses. Paul was a charter member of the Parkersburg Lions Club and a member of the Parkersburg American Legion Post No. 285. He enjoyed attending the various activities of his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; four sons, Dale and wife Sara of Cedar Falls, Lugene and wife Jane of Orange City, Ronald and wife Lisa of Pella and Troy of Ames; two daughters, Linda Scallon and husband Joe of Iowa Falls and Twila Jansen of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Larry and wife Mary Ann of Spirit Lake; one brother-in-law, the Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf of Temple, Texas; and two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Paulette.

Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial will be established at a later date.

Kaleb Allen Tripp

IOWA FALLS - Kaleb Allen Tripp, infant son of Jennifer Schaefer and Jarod Tripp, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with the Rev. Kenneth Krueger officiating. Burial will be at Northlawn Gardens Cemetery in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel. Kaleb was born Nov. 27, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.

Kaleb is survived by his parents; two brothers, Tyson and Kaden Nickell of Iowa Falls; maternal grandparents, Mary Schaefer and special friend Tom Bradley of Iowa Falls and Scott Schaefer of Belmond; paternal grandparents, Dawn Tripp of Iowa Falls and Jeff Tripp and wife Paula of Alden; great-grandparents, John Just of Belmond, Wavel and Darlene Schaefer of Kanawha, Judy Tripp and special friend Rich Gehrke of Alden, Andrea Yates of Iowa Falls, Jim Lampman and special friend Lori Simpson of Iowa Falls, and Jim Tripp and wife Robin of Muskogee, Okla.; great-great-grandparents, Christine Tripp and Mary Cessford, both of Iowa Falls.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Amy Just; and paternal grand-mother, Mary Schaefer.

Charles R. Uhlenhopp

APLINGTON - Charles "Charley" Robert Uhlenhopp, 95, of Aplington, formerly of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at the Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington of natural causes. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Robert Orr officiating. Interment was in Hitesville Cemetery in rural Aplington.

Charley was born Jan. 8, 1909, in Butler County, near Aplington, the son of Rob and Johanna (Brinkman) Uhlenhopp. He received his education from the Aplington School. Charley lived in the Aplington-Parkersburg area all his life. He worked as a farm hand until he went into the junk business and retired in 1990. Charley liked to go fishing, especially up north with his friends, going for drives and reading.

Survivors include one brother, Henry and wife Lela of Ackley, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Maggie Conrads, Mary Beenken and Johanna Bodecker; and eight brothers, Dick, Chris, Harm, Jake, John, Robert, Edward and Jerry.

Edwin J. Jensen

WILLIAMS - Edwin Juhl Jensen, 90, of Williams died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams with the Rev. Tom Hunt officiating. Burial followed in the Williams Cemetery.

Edwin was born Jan. 27, 1914, on the family farm near Jewell, the son of Soren P. and Julian (Kolling) Jensen. On Jan. 27, 1942, he was united in marriage to Helen Trampel in Missouri. Edwin was a farmer who enjoyed fishing and attending sporting events.

Survivors include a son, LeRoy of Williams; two grandchildren; one brother, Mervin of Webster City; and a sister, Gladys Andrews of State Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; three brothers; and three sisters.

Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams was in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond Oelmann

ACKLEY - Raymond Arnold Oelmann, 82, of Ackley passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Christian Reformed Church in Austinville with the Rev. George McGuire officiating. Burial followed in the Austinville Cemetery.

Raymond was born Feb. 6, 1922, in rural Ackley to Arend and Nettie (Neuberger) Oelmann. He attended school in Austinville and graduated from Ackley High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946. On March 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Florence Allspach in the Stout Reformed Church. Raymond was a farmer for more than 50 years and a member of Austinville Christian Reformed Church, the Gideons and the church council.

Survivors include his wife, Florence of Ackley; three sons, Kenneth and wife Mary of Greene, Gene of Marshalltown and Mark and wife Merry of Cedar Falls; two daughters, June Brands and husband Dale of Sioux Center and Cindy Sullivan of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren, Andrea, Amanda, Dustin, Zephan and Anton Oelmann and Christina Sullivan; one brother, Wallace of Aplington; two sisters, Lillian Abbas of Alden and Evelyn Stockdale of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles.

Walter Koop

ACKLEY - Walter Koop, 83, of Ackley, formerly of Aplington, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at the Presbyterian Village of Ackley from natural causes. Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 29, at the Washington Reformed Church in rural Ackley with the Rev. Jack Ritsema officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington.

Walter was born June 15, 1921, on a farm northwest of Austinville, the son of Henry and Sophia (Meyer) Koop. He graduated from high school in 1943 from the Pleasant Prairie Academy in German Valley, Ill. He continued at Central College in Pella and finished his formal education at Hope College in Holland, Mich. On July 6, 1962, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Frerichs Bassler at the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington. He started working at the canning factory in Ackley in 1959 and retired 29 years later, having been promoted over the years to canning supervisor. Walter was a member of the Washington Reformed Church where he taught catechism and Sunday school and served on the consistory. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to Iowa and Iowa State football games. He also liked taking care of his lawn and house, washing his car and taking walks with Dorothy.

Walter is survived by one stepson, Bruce Bassler and wife Eunice of Ames; two grandchildren, Evan Bassler of Ames and Erika Kidd and husband David of Philadelphia, Pa.; and five siblings, all of Ackley: Edward and wife Jeannette, twin brother William and wife Anna Mae, Elsie DeVries, Augusta Rykena and Agnes Ackerman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy, who passed away on Oct. 4.

IOWA FALLS - Steve Reimond Capalla, 77, of Iowa Falls passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Private family services and burial will be held. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o his wife: Joan Capalla, 420 Jason Ave., Iowa Falls, IA 50126.

Steve was born Sept. 13, 1927, the son of Stephan and Natalie (Kabasa) Kwiatkowski in Jackson, Mich. He attended Holmes Grade School and graduated in 1945 from Eastern High School, both in Lansing, Mich. He attended the University of Heidelberg in Germany, graduating with a degree in higher mathematics. On June 10, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joan Louise Olcott in Lansing. He had been employed as a maintenance supervisor with Hammer Plastics in Iowa Falls, retiring in 1989.

Steve is survived by his wife, Joan of Iowa Falls; one daughter, Vicki Gordon and husband Harry of Gilman; two sons, Mark and wife Kathy of Plainfield, Ind., and John of Gilman; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two half-sisters, Linda Wieber and husband Toni of Geneva, Ill., and Irene Kobus and husband Louis of Plano, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister.

Maurice J. White Sr.

DOWS - Maurice J. White Sr., 73, of Dows passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Abundant Life Chapel in Dows. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Maurice was born Sept. 19, 1931, at the family farm in Galt, the son of Ora and June (Burt) White. He graduated from Dows High School, attended Iowa State College and entered the U.S. Army in August of 1952. He served with the U.S. Army Headquarters for Europe in Heidelberg, Germany. On Dec. 15, 1957, he married Sharon Fraser. The couple farmed and Maurice worked for the U.S. Post Office in Ames. Maurice was a founding member of the Abundant Life Chapel and served on the Rural Electric Coop Board, the Wright County Farmers Insurance Board, the Farmers Home Administration Board, the Rural Fire Association Board and as a town trustee and 4-H leader. He was a member of the Wright County Gun Club, the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He loved sports, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Maurice Jr. and wife Cathy of Williams; two daughters, Diane Sutherland and husband Quin of San Diego, Calif. and Phyllis Jacobson and husband Darwin of Woolstock; and five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Henry R. Gonner

READING, Pa. - Henry R. Gonner, 91, of Reading, Pa., formerly of Richmond, Va., died of natural causes Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. in Dubuque. Family will be at the church at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Calvary in Dubuque. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, P.O. Box 418, Monticello, IA 52310-0418. The family may be contacted at 1053 Mahlon Dr., Leesport, PA 19533.

Henry was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Dubuque, the son of Nicholas Edward and Clara Marie Gonner. He graduated from St. Benedicts College in Atchison, Kan. During the 1950s he served as manager of the Iowa Falls Chamber of Commerce, and before that he had been city editor of the Newton Daily News. After moving to Richmond, Henry directed the Central Richmond Association from 1957 to 1983, promoting the downtown's economic development through civic advocacy and much publicized celebrations. He had been a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Joan Becker Gonner of Reading; two sons, Hank Gonner of Leesport, Pa., and Nic Gonner of Ashland, Va.; and a daughter, Meri Gibbs of Annapolis, Md.

His daughter Betsy Hogan preceded him in death in 1992.

Maria 'Cuca' Balderas

RADCLIFFE - Maria "Cuca" Balderas, 50, of Radcliffe passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City from complications of acute leukemia. Funeral mass was held Saturday, Nov. 27, at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe with the Rev. Bernie Grady officiating. Interment followed in the Radcliffe Cemetery.

Maria was born March 6, 1954, in Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of Carlos and Amalia Ibarra. She received her education in Mexico. On Dec. 12, 1976, she was united in marriage to Antonio Balderas in Eagle Pass, Texas. They resided in Texas until 1986 when they moved to Ellsworth. Maria held many jobs and was most recently employed as a dietary aide at the Hubbard Care Center. They have resided in Radcliffe since the fall of 1998. Maria enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards with her friends.

Survivors include her husband, Antonio of Radcliffe; two sons, Marco and wife Nicole, and their children, Terrance, Marco and Aneesa, all of Hubbard, and Hugo, who is stationed in Iraq with the U. S. Army; one daughter, Annette of Radcliffe; her parents, Carlos and Amalia Ibarra of Eagle Pass, Texas; three brothers, Carlos Ibarra of Ellsworth and Jose and Cesar of Eagle Pass; three sisters, Sandra of Houston, Texas, and Lupe Valadez and Juanita Flores of Eagle Pass; and other relatives and friends.

Fern Speck

IOWA FALLS - Fern Mae Speck, 91, of Iowa Falls died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with the Rev. Vance Jorgensen and the Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Alden Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin one hour before the ceremony at the funeral home.

Fern was born June 17, 1913, in Vinton to William D. and Lillie Mae (Elliot) Rainey. On July 8, 1933, she was united in marriage to Gordon Speck in Ames. Fern was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Lois Marie Kreimeyer of Hampton, Arnetta Mae Shoafstall of Urbandale and Sharon Lea Speck of Iowa Falls; three sons, Ronald Eugene Speck of Dumont, Darrell Dean Speck of Cedar Falls and David Lea Speck of Woodward; two grandchildren, Michael Lynn and Megan Lynn Kreimeyer; and two brothers, Harry and Floyd Rainey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; a daughter, Jacquline Jean Rush; two sisters, Minnie Hurst and Inez Warren; and a brother, Robert Rainey.

Raymond L. Spurgeon Sr.

HAMPTON - Raymond L. Spurgeon Sr., 87, of Hampton died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, of natural causes at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Memorial service is planned for Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Carthage, Mo.

Raymond was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Carthage, the son of Don and Pearl (Meece) Spurgeon. He was raised and educated in Carthage and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 17, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Feather in Oklahoma City, Okla. Raymond worked as a truck driver and mechanic, and at United Hydraulics in Hampton until retirement. He was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No. 183 in Hampton. Raymond enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Buerge of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, R. L. and wife Gwen Spurgeon and David and wife Phyllis Spurgeon, all of Hampton; several grandchildren, Steven and wife Christy Buerge of Webb City, Mo., Teresa and husband Bobby Pinson of Orlando, and Deana, Jennifer, Sarah, Melissa, Kimberly and Tiffany Spurgeon, all of Hampton; 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and one brother.

Kathryn 'Gladys' Apland

IOWA FALLS - Kathryn "Gladys" Apland, 97, of Austin, Minn., formerly of Iowa Falls, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at the Scared Heart Care Center in Austin. A mass of Christian burial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel with a 7:30 p.m. Scripture service and rosary.

Gladys was born Oct. 25, 1907, at Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of John F. and Ina J. (Hansen) Kennelly. She attended Austin Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1925. She then attended Luther College, graduating with a business degree from the School of Luther Business. On Nov. 15, 1930, she was united in marriage to LaVal G. Apland in Austin. She and her husband operated Val's Standard Service in Iowa Falls until his death in 1960. She was then a bookkeeper for Sears Roebuck Co., Harrison's Department Store and Swartz Drug, all of Iowa Falls, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Mark Parish, Iowa Falls, the St. Mark Sanctuary Society and the Iowa Falls Business and Professional Women's Club.

Gladys is survived by two daughters, Judith Swartz and husband John of Iowa Falls, and Nancy Schwebke and husband Kenneth of Brownsdale, Minn.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Kennelly of Albert Lea.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVal Apland; one sister, Virginia Johnson; and two brothers, Richard and John Kennelly.

Marie Kothenbeutel

HAMPTON - Marie Kothenbeutel, 86, of Hampton died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, of natural causes at the Allison Care Center in Allison. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Connor officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.

Marie was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Crawford County to Andreas Lorenzen and Anna Lackman. She attended Crawford County schools and on Nov. 16, 1940, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kothenbeutel in Hampton. Marie owned a bowling alley in Sheffield for many years before becoming a homemaker. She had also worked as a nurse aide. Marie was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, crocheting and bowling. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Marie is survived by two sons, Robert Kothenbeutel and wife Karla of Woodinville, Wash., and Dallas Kothenbeutel of St. Charles, Ill.; a daughter, Linda Schafer and husband James of Greene; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; a son, Larry; five brothers; and two sisters.

Jackie E. Sunken

GAMALIEL, Ark. - Jackie E. Sunken, 79, of Gamaliel, Ark., formerly of Iowa Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Ackley with the Rev. Diane Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in Friends Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Jackie was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Hampton to Clarence and Gladys (Nichols) Jones. On May 4, 1942, she was united in marriage to Leo W. Sunken in Princeton, Mo. Jackie had been employed as a sales clerk and had been a member of Osage Oaks Church of God in Sperry, Okla., and the East Side Ladies Aide of Iowa Falls.

Raymond Siems

CLARKSVILLE - Raymond Siems, 79, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Waverly Health Care Center from natural causes. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 3, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Clarksville with the Rev. David Walters officiating. Interment was in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville, with military rites provided by Clarksville AMVETS Post No. 30.

Raymond was born the son of Fred and Tillie (Hovenga) Siems on April 18, 1925, on a farm near Dumont in Butler County. He received his education in a country school near his home. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. On Feb. 2, 1952, Ray was united in marriage with Doris Wildeboer at Washington Reformed Church parsonage. Ray worked as a mechanic and was later employed by the Oliver Company. He retired from White Farm Equipment in 1987. Ray was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville and the Clarksville AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings games.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Siems and wife Candy of Jesup, and Brad Siems and wife Tracie of Waverly; two daughters, Sandra Smith and husband Dave of Nora Springs, and Terri Siems of Waverly; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ben Siems and wife Edna of Ackley; and two sisters, Marian Boelts and husband LaVern of Wellsburg, and Betty Boelts and husband Marvin of Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; one sister; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Aredale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terra Amundson officiating. Burial will follow at the Lindenwood Cemetery in rural Geneva. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 12, from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Mabel was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Story City to Charles and Amelia (Fink) Howard. She attended Dows High School. On April 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Albert A. Lambertsen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mabel was a farmwife and a member of Aredale United Methodist Church. She was active in the E-Z Going Club and enjoyed her flower gardens, watching her grandchildren play sports, cooking, and entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Lambertsen and wife Vicky of Rockwell and Dennis "Buck" Lambertsen and wife Pat of Aredale; a daughter, Sherry Peterson and husband Dwight of Dumont; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Don and Homer Howard, both of Dows; and two sisters, Linda Sheridan of Canon Falls, Minn., and Mary Howard of Dows.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Albert.

IOWA FALLS - Mildred Viola Larson, 99, of Ankeny, formerly of Iowa Falls, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Mill Pond Nursing Home in Ankeny. Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 9, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden with the Rev. Jay Jaeger officiating. Burial followed in the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Mildred was born Jan. 20, 1905, in Franklin County, the daughter of Lewis and Matilda Nelson. She attended country school. On July 4, 1941, she was united in marriage to Vernon Edward Larson at Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mildred was a farmwife and spent most of her life on the same farm near Burdette, moving to Iowa Falls in 1983. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Senior Citizen Center, and various card clubs in Iowa Falls. She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing cards, playing piano, dancing, gardening and baking.

Survivors include a son, Marlyn and wife Zelda of Ankeny; one granddaughter, Jennifer Janvrin and husband Jimmy of Elkhorn, Neb.; one grandson, Mark Larson and wife Brandy of Dillingham, Alaska; seven great-grandchildren and a grandson-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; two brothers, Edward and Oscar Nelson; two sisters, Ethel Ites and Sadie Keller; and a granddaughter, Angela Pilkington.

Rose was born Jan. 20, 1949, in Iowa Falls to Willie and Helen (Boor) Abbas. She was a 1967 graduate of Iowa Falls High School. In 1972 she was united in marriage to Ronald Blandau. Rose had been employed as a cook.

Survivors include her mother, Helen Meyer of Iowa Falls; a sister, Patty Patten of Brooklyn; four stepchildren, Mike, Regina, Vickie and Jill; six aunts, Jeanette Abbas of Ackley, Aletha Anderson of Williams, Marilyn Venner of Williams, Carolyn Hoversten of Iowa Falls, Norma Alderdyce of Coulter and Nancy Barnhart of Iowa Falls; two uncles, Maurice Boor of Deer River, Minn., and Gerald Boor of Alden; several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

ACKLEY - June Lavina (Svec) Heitland, 84, of Englewood, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Bon Secours Hospital in Venice, Fla. Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 10, at the United Methodist Church in Ackley with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial followed in the Liscomb Cemetery.

June was born June 27, 1920, in Armstrong, the daughter of Melville and Gladys (Gard) Elliott. She graduated from Liscomb High School and attended the Wayne School of Cosmetology. In 1937 she was united in marriage to George James Svec. June worked as a cosmetologist and a travel consultant for many years. After the death of her first husband, she married Russell Heitland in 1986. June was a member of the Rebekah and Odd Fellows Lodge and served as chair of the care review committee for the Presbyterian Village. She also volunteered for many organizations, including the Salvation Army, Animal Aid Society, the library and helping domestically abused women. June loved to travel and write poetry, having two books of poetry published.

Survivors include a son, James Svec, and wife Linda of Marshalltown; two granddaughters, Lori Svec of Ackley and Jami Dolezal and husband Wendell of Marshalltown; and two great-grandsons, Trevor James and Jarod Travis Dolezal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and a sister, Ruth Ann.

WELLSBURG - Harold J. O'Kones, 91, of Wellsburg died of natural causes Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital-Long Term Care Unit. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at Wellsburg Reformed Church with the Rev. Todd Rempe officiating. Burial will follow at Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 8 until 11 at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

Harold was born Oct. 3, 1913, on a farm in Melrose Township, the son of John Cornealus and Antje (Nederhoff) O'Kones. He graduated in 1931 from Wellsburg High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. On Dec. 25, 1943, he was united in marriage to Annette E. Knock at her parents' home. The couple lived on the family farm until retiring in 1978 to Wellsburg. Harold was active in his church as a Sunday school teacher and adult Bible study leader. He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and had served on the board of directors for the Wellsburg Community School. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Annette of Wellsburg; two sons, Ronald O'Kones and wife Barbara of West Union, and Roger O'Kones of Iowa City; one daughter, Joan O'Kones of Iowa City; and three grandsons, Matthew O'Kones of West Union, Jared O'Kones of Gilbert, Ariz., and Nathan O'Kones of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; and three sisters, Cornealja in infancy, Anna Borchers and Tena Van Deest.

Roberta was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Rudd to Raymond and Gladys (Hendrickson) Clift. She attended Rockwell High School and Drake University, graduating in 1942 with a teaching degree. Roberta taught at Hardin County area schools and had been a member of Alden United Methodist Church and the Alden City Council.

Survivors include a son, Christopher William Cate of San Diego, Calif.; and a sister, June Miller of Durham, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tyler Clift Cate; and a brother, Raymond Clift.

IOWA FALLS - Ruth Alice Arrowood, 95, of Iowa Falls died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 13, at the Altoona Christian Church with the Rev. Wendy Miles officiating. Burial followed in the Altoona Cemetery.

Ruth was born July 22, 1909, in Berwick, the daughter of George and Eunice (Patrick) Kesler. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1927. On Oct. 1, 1928, she was united in marriage to Glenn Arrowood in Des Moines. The couple farmed near Altoona, Colfax and St. Anthony. They retired to a wooded acreage outside of Hubbard in 1972. Ruth had been employed by Meredith Publishing and Arrowood Motors. She was a member of the Altoona Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Hal Arrowood and wife Elaine of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Linda Giuliani and husband Greg of Fort Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren, Julie Ayers of Golden, Colo., and Brian Arrowood of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; a son, Dale; two brothers; and a sister.

LATIMER - Loretta Cozette Paulsen, 82, of Latimer died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 13, at Morgan United Methodist Church in Dows with the Rev. David Gobeli officiating. Burial followed in Morgan Township Cemetery, Dows.

Loretta was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Morgan Township to Earl and Harriett Campbell Korth. She attended country schools and graduated from Dows High School with the class of 1939. On Oct. 4, 1950, she was united in marriage with Elmer Paulsen. Loretta worked for several years at the Salvation Army in Mason City. She loved to cook and used that talent at Dudley's Corner and the Dows Care Center. Loretta also made wedding cakes for family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Morgan United Methodist Church and held offices in the women's group. She was also a member of the senior citizens in Dows and Latimer. She belonged to two card groups and enjoyed playing bingo. Loretta loved spending time with her grandchildren and baking them treats.

Survivors include three children, Paulette Beyer and husband David of Coulter, Lucretia Caplan and husband Ben of Alden, and Jorgen Paulsen and wife Toni of Forest City; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Meyer of Wellsburg; one brother, Delvern Korth and wife Marillyn of Dows; and one sister-in-law, Doris Paulsen of Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; and one son, Delbert.

Duane S. Dix

APLINGTON - Duane Stanley Dix, 74, of Aplington died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington of natural causes. Funeral services were held Dec. 9 at the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington with the Rev. Greg Smith officiating.

Duane was born the son of Henry and Mary (Roberts) Dix on June 22, 1930, New Hartford. He received his education and graduated from the Jesup High School in Jesup. On Oct. 1, 1950, Duane was united in marriage with Muriel Louise Schrage at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. They farmed near Allison, Clarksville and Kesley. In 1998 they moved to Aplington and retired. Following his retirement Duane did construction work with his son-in-law, Randy Aalderks and Clint Uhlenhopp. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington. Duane did mission work in Belize, the Philippines and also was a Full Gospel lay pastor.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel of Aplington; three sons, Kim and wife Brenda of Kesley, Brett and wife Margaret of Aplington, and Nick and wife Kelli of Stout; four daughters, Dinah and husband David Grant of Goldsmith, Ind., Renee and husband Clint Uhlenhopp of Cedar Falls, Joy and husband Kevin Beirne of Davenport, and Camie and husband Randy Aalderks of Aplington; 26 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and one sister-in-law.

Marjorie was born Aug. 28, 1925, on a farm near Jewell to Walter and Myrtle (Stout) Denekas. She graduated from Jewell High School in 1943. On April 2, 1948, she was united in marriage with Arnold Bessman in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Buckeye, where Marjorie was a member. Marjorie was a farm wife and enjoyed playing cards with her friends, cooking big meals and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Mike Bessman and wife Peggy of Alden; two daughters, Susan Hoppen of Iowa Falls, and Karen Niccum and fiancé Bob Miller of Hampton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Roney of Alta.

IOWA FALLS - Margaret May Rehm, 94, of Rochester, Minn., formerly of Iowa Falls, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at the Seasons-Hospice in Rochester. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Chatfield Lutheran Church in Chatfield, Minn., with the Rev. Stacy Sikes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be Thursday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Alden Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Krueger officiating. The family will be gathering at the Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel prior to the graveside services.

Margaret was born July 5, 1910, in Smith Center, Kan., the daughter of John and Ethel (Wonderly) Brown. She attended Johnson School in Smith County and the Iowa Falls Community Schools. On Nov. 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to John Rehm at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Margaret was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Iowa Falls and Alden areas, retiring in 1985. She was a member of several church groups.

Margaret is survived by four sons, William Rehm of Chatfield, Ronald Rehm and wife Kay of Rochester, Dennis Rehm of Winona, Minn., and Donald Rehm and wife Leona of Seattle, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Brown and wife Betsy of Iowa Falls.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Carl Brown; and one sister, Mary Ruth Havens.


Eleonora K. Kelson

Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton with the Rev. Mary Peterson officiating. Burial followed in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Eleonora was born May 20, 1909, in rural Franklin County to Jakob and Kjesten (Jorgensen) Christensen. She graduated from high school in Withee, Wis., and on July 12, 1932, she was united in marriage with Alfred J. Kelson in Momence, Ill. Eleonora was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, traveling, playing cards, gardening and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two daughters, Myrtle E. Zalac of Downers Grove, Ill., and Alice Pierce and husband Bill of Blue Springs; a son, Allan Dean and wife Sharon Kelson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; two sisters; three brothers; one son, R. Gene Kelson; and an infant daughter, Carol.

IOWA FALLS - Leona Fuller Pierce Johns, 93, of Iowa Falls passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial followed in Jackson Township Cemetery, Owasa.

Leona was born Dec. 24, 1910, on the family farm near Owasa to Walter and Mary (Baughman) Fuller. She graduated from Owasa High School in 1928 and attended Ellsworth College. On Dec. 20, 1932, she was united in marriage to Charles W. Pierce. After his death in 1964, she was married to Paul Johns on Sept. 16, 1966. Leona was a member of Iowa Falls Methodist Church and the Owasa Sewing Club, worked as a volunteer in the Ellsworth Hospital gift shop, and belonged to several bridge groups.

Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine J. Davis and husband Burton of Vinton; a son, Jon C. Pierce and friend Janie Long of Marble Hill, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Pierce in 1964; her husband, Paul Johns in 1984; a sister, Marie Nott; and four brothers, Fred, George, Frank and Harry Fuller.


Dorothy Helvig

DES MOINES - Dorothy Helvig, 94, of Des Moines died of natural causes Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at the Calvin Community Nursing Facility in Des Moines. Her body was cremated. A private prayer service for Dorothy will be held at the Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home Chapel with interment in the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls. A memorial service will be held at a later date with friends and relatives notified.

Dorothy was born in rural Iowa Falls on March 13, 1910, the daughter of Edward and Bena Helvig. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School. Dorothy attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and taught for several years in rural schools. Later she became an assistant at the Iowa Falls public library and in 1944 moved to Des Moines where she worked in the Des Moines Public Library until her retirement in 1975. She enjoyed reading and gardening. Dorothy was a member of the Iowa Historical Society and Women's Fellowship Group of Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines. She retained her membership in the United Church of Christ in Iowa Falls.

Survivors include two nieces, Doris Miller of Iowa Falls and Mary Beth Nelsen of Adel and their families; and two nephews, Neil Helvig of Sioux City and Keith Helvig of Iowa Falls and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harley and Arthur Helvig.


Lorraine Schaa

ELDORA - Lorraine Schaa, 82, of Eldora died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls of natural causes. Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial followed at the Eldora City Cemetery.

Lorraine was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Kellerton, the daughter of Earl and Mamie (Main) Thomas. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1939 and taught in Goose Creek County School before moving to California to work in a factory during World War II. On Jan. 27, 1946, she was united in marriage with Paul Harold Schaa. The couple made their home in Eldora where Lorraine worked as a sales clerk for various businesses. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, local women's "Club 16" and Pine Lake Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Liittschwager of Wylie, Texas; a son, Greg Schaa and wife Janella of Steamboat Rock; two grandchildren, Damon Wood and Jill Karns; and a sister, JoAnn Hartkopp and husband Willie of Iowa Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; two sons, Stanley Dean and Thomas Joe; and a daughter, LuAnn.

Bill was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Hampton to Warren and Pearl (Lunberg) Kenison. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1950 and on Dec. 14, 1957, he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Smuck at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Bill owned KMC Vendors and had been a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Iowa Falls Elks Club BPOE Lodge No. 1674 for approximately 50 years, the Iowa Falls Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 1331, the Mason Home Lodge No. 192 of Iowa Falls, and the Izaak Walton League of America.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Bruce Kenison of Clear Lake; and a daughter, Teri Kenison of Iowa Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Allen.

WEBSTER CITY - Ruth Beatrice Hall, 99, of Webster City, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at the Hamilton County Hospital. Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 29, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams with the Rev. Tom Hunt and the Rev. Gerald Naber officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Grove Cemetery.

Ruth was born May 9, 1905, in Ledyard, the daughter of Sock and Bertha Nerbo Anderson. She attended rural school at Liberty Center. On May 22, 1928, she married Obed Johan Hall at Williams. The couple farmed in the Williams area until 1968, when they moved to Webster City. Ruth was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies aid, community circle and taught Sunday school.

Ruth is survived by her son, Carroll Hall and wife Waneta of Webster City; four grandchildren, Carolyn Cross and husband Vern of Webster City, John Hall and wife Chris of Radcliffe, Gwen Johnson and husband David of Ellsworth, and David Hall and wife Sherry of Williams; 10 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Arnold Hankom and sister-in-law Eva Hankom, both of Iowa Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Obed; and two brothers, Thomas and Selmer Anderson.

ACKLEY - Woodford B. Fisher, 100, of Ackley passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church and burial in the Oakwood Cemetery, both in Ackley, with the Rev. Jenni Walker officiating.

Woodie was born April 19, 1904, in Montrose, the son of the Rev. W. Edwend and Cora Belle (Younker) Fisher. He graduated from Ackley High School in 1921 and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids for two years. On Nov. 22, 1927, he was united in marriage with Minnie McGuire in Marion by his father. The couple owned and operated Fisher's Clothing in Ackley until 1971. Woodie was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Fountain Lodge No. 219 AM and FM. He was also a member of the Ackley Country Club, Rotary Club and the Iowa Senior Golf Association. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, traveling and meeting people.

Woodie is survived by a nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Minnie; and a sister, Eleanor.

Antonio 'Tony' Perez

CEDAR FALLS - Antonio "Tony" Perez, 72, of Cedar Falls died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, of natural causes at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. The body will be cremated and a memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 30, 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in St. Paul, Minn.

Tony was born July 24, 1932, in Hampton to Jose and Inez Perez. He graduated from Hampton High School and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Tony served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until 1956. In August 1952 he married Phyllis Hovenga in St. Paul. The couple later divorced. Tony worked as an electrician in Hampton, then a teacher and coach at Columbus High School in Waterloo. He was active in the Cedar Falls AMVETS, Knights of Columbus in Waterloo, and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, sports and spending time with his family.

Tony is survived by two daughters, Susan Hoffert and husband Gene of Cedar Falls, and Karen Powell and husband Greg of Dike; a son, Tony Perez and wife Emily of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jim, Pete and Sassy; and three sisters, Mary, Josaphene and Vicki.

ELDORA - Sharon Kay Orr, 60, of Eldora died from natural causes Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Following cremation, private family services will be held.

Sharon was born Sept. 3, 1944, in Cushing. At the age of 7, after the death of her biological mother, Sharon was adopted by Marvin and Marlys (Hoppenworth) Haverkamp and raised in Tripoli where she was educated in the Sumner School System. She was married to Wendell Brase in 1963 and they later divorced. Sharon moved to Union in 1988, and on May 27, 1989, she was united in marriage to Thomas Orr at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Eldora. Sharon held many jobs over the years, including working for the Tiger Pack of the Eldora School System. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, crafting, camping, baking and collecting cookie jars.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; her adoptive parents; her children, Neil Brase and wife Deb of Westgate, Dawn Fox and husband Thomas of Fulton, Mo., Darcie Bohle and husband Keith and Dina Brase and friend Kip Grimson, all of Waterloo, Trevor Wiley and Thomas Orr Jr., both of Eldora; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two biological sisters; one adoptive sister; one biological brother; and three adoptive brothers.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tracy Brase, four biological brothers and a biological sister.

IOWA FALLS - Dorothy Maude Stuart, 91, of Iowa Falls died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Iowa Falls with the presiding overseer Dennis Krukow officiating.

Dorothy was born July 20, 1913, near Alden, the second child of Elman and Pearl (Lauck) Williams. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from high school in 1931. On July 6, 1938, she was united in marriage to Reginald Alan Stuart, who died Feb. 1, 1945. They were parents to one daughter, Patricia. On Sept. 1, 1946, Dorothy married Donald Cameron Stuart, a cousin of her first husband. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and preserving, sewing, playing the piano and teaching it to her daughter, reading the Bible and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Sayre and husband Ivan of Iowa Falls; four grandchildren, including Wendy Sayre of Iowa Falls; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Kenneth Williams and wife Millie of Waterloo; one sister-in-law, Doris Patzer of Iowa Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; and one brother, Clifford Williams.

APLINGTON - Dorothea Marion Kreimeyer, 88, of Aplington died Dec. 25, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services are Thursday, Dec. 30, 1:30 p.m. at Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley with the Rev. Mary Stonebraker officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ackley. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.

Dorothea was born March 25, 1916, north of Ackley to George and Talena (Mein) Meyer. She graduated from high school in 1929 and on Dec. 4, 1940, she was united in marriage with Julius Kreimeyer. The couple farmed and Dorothea worked in area stores and a bakery. After her husband's death, she moved to Ackley and attended business school, graduating in 1966 from Gates Business College, Waterloo. She worked as an accounting clerk, and in her later years she obtained her minister's license. Dorothea was active in church, with memberships at the Congregational Church in Parkersburg and St. John's United Church of Christ in Aplington. She had been a member of the Helping Hand Society, Ladies Guild, Ladies Aid, Willing Workers and the Singing Longettes.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mabel Meyer of Eldora and Alice Meyer of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julius; an infant son, Clarence; and five brothers, Raymond, Fred, William, Albert and Herald Meyer.

IOWA FALLS - Anna M. Ites, 89, of Iowa Falls died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with the Rev. James Ites officiating. Burial will follow in the Northlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.

Anna Marie was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Titonka to Nan and Jennie (Harms) Folken. On Dec. 11, 1935, she was united in marriage with Tony Ites in Northwood. The couple farmed together north of Iowa Falls. Anna was a charter member of the Iowa Falls Christian Reformed Church and the Women's Golden Hour Circle until the church disbanded and her membership transferred to the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg. She had been attending the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls.

Survivors included three sons, Frank Ites and wife Beth of Iowa Falls, James Ites and wife Sandi of Waterloo, and Ron Ites and wife Vikkii of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Judy Barhite and husband Jim of Iowa Falls; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jennie Tjepkes and husband Melvin of Cedar Falls; a brother, Henry Folken and wife Beverly of Parkersburg; and two sisters-in-law, Ida Folken of Parkersburg and Greta Chaplin of Iowa Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony; two brothers, John and Eilert Folken; three sisters, Henrietta Daniels, Florence Kuiper and Mary Sells; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Ites.
