Olga J. Diesburg

 

 

New Hampton — Olga J. Diesburg, 89, of New Hampton, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton after a brief illness.

Funeral Services were 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with Reverend Kevin Frey officiating. Edith Kolthoff was the organist and accompanied those in attendance singing “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Reverend Kevin Frey was the soloist singing “In The Garden” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Burial was in the New Hampton Cemetery with Don Peterson, Kevin Diesburg, Randy Hyde, Robert Diesburg, Keith Underwood, and Nikk Abbott serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Carol Bowers, and all of Olga’s nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.

Friends called from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton and also an hour prior to services.

Olga Jamesina Diesburg was born February 3, 1917, in Jacksonville Township, the daughter of Knute H. and Martha Ericka (Attleson) Peterson. She was baptized at Crane Creek Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Olga was raised east of New Hampton, where she attended country school near her family’s home. On April 3, 1937, Olga was united in marriage to Leo Diesburg at her family’s home. Following their marriage the couple resided in New Hampton where they remained for all their married life with the exception of a couple years that were spent in Charles City. Throughout the years, Olga worked at Powell’s Variety Store, New Hampton Poultry Co., Mrs. Loomis’ Cafeteria, Maple Lamp Caf/, Schilling’s Nursery and Floral Shop and the New Hampton Veterinary Clinic where she served as an administrative assistant for 33 years.

She was an active member in the Trinity Lutheran Church and served as the president of the St. Olaf Martha Mission during the merger of St. Paul and St. Olaf Churches, now Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

 
 

Survivors include her four children, Kenneth (Eleanor) Diesburg, Murfreesboro, TN, Mary (Richard) Hyde, Elkader, IA, Leona (Harold) Underwood, Sycamore, IL, and Martha Abbott-Meyer, Dixon, IL; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Leo on October 17, 1972; two sisters Carrie Haupt and Anna Vorwald; eight brothers Adolph Attleson, James Peterson in infancy, James Peterson, Henry Peterson, Mervin Peterson, Gilbert Peterson, Paul Peterson, and John Peterson.
