Robert Dean Barber

Robert Dean Barber, 84, of Dumont, Iowa died on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont, Iowa. Military Rites were conducted by the Dumont American Legion Post #360. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.

Verlon J. “Scratch” Siems

Verlon J. “Scratch” Siems, 79, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away April 10, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Sietsema- Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in the Dumont Cemetery.

Leslie Harris Frey

Leslie Harris Frey, age 87, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of John and Mary (Hahn) Frey on November 29, 1923 in Grundy County near Wellsburg. Les died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Western Home in Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 9, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, Iowa with Pastor Michael McLane Officiating. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington. Full Military Honors were conducted by Aplington AMVETS Post #102.

Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington or Veteran’s Honor Tour.

Beryl “Bob” D. Reed

Beryl “Bob” D. Reed, 88, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away April 6, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. He was born July 31, 1922, in Dumont, Iowa, to Harry and Flossie (DeArmoun) Reed.

Bob graduated from the Dumont High School. He was united in marriage to Jean Hutchison on April 25, 1944, at the United Bretheran Church in Dumont. Bob farmed, drove a milk truck, worked at the Franklin General Hospital and owned and operated Reed’s Café with his wife Jean.

He was a member of the Dumont Saddle Club and the New Hope Parish of the United Methodist Church in Dumont. Bob enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He had a love for horses and mules and enjoyed riding, breaking and driving them. Bob had many friends that drove horses and mules with him. In his earlier years, he and Jean loved to roller skate and used to skate at the roller rink between Hampton and Iowa Falls.

Bob and Jean loved to have coffee with their friends and the coffee pot was always on for a friend to stop by. He was also always willing to help a friend and lend a helping hand when needed.

Bob is survived by his wife Jean Reed of Dumont, daughter Laveta (Doug) Pfaltzgraff of Bondurant, daughter Marcia (Lyle) Landers of Greene, son Douglas Reed of Hampton, grandchildren Dawn (Tim) Plimmer of Urbandale, Brad (Laura) Pfaltzgraff of Bondurant, Trace (Heather) Landers of Denver, Thad (Meghan) Landers of Shell Rock, great grandchildren Oliva Griswold, Reed and Drake Pfaltzgraff & Gavin, Tate and Kayden Landers, step great grandchildren Mitch and Jared Plimmer, sister-in-law Ann Reed of Allison and niece Noreen (Warren) Weigmann of Bristow.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Flossie, brother Nolan Reed and grandson Travis Landers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 9, at the New Hope Parish of the United Methodist Church in Dumont. Burial took place in the Dumont Cemetery. Pastor Mark Young officiated the service.

Velma “Fae” Becker

Velma “Fae” Becker, 90, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away April 12, 2011, at
the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Dr.
Edward R. Peterson officiated the service.

William Bruce May

William Bruce May, 90, of Lakeview, Arkansas, formerly of Waterloo,
Iowa, passed away April 10, 2011, at the Hospice Home in Mountain Home,
Arkansas.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 22, at the Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home in Dumont, Iowa, with burial in the Dumont Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home in Dumont, Iowa. Rev. Ralph Wedeking will officiate the
service.


Wilbur Herman Landers

Funeral services for Wilbur H. Landers, 95, of Greene will be 10:30 a.m.,
Friday, April 22, 2011, at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Hatcher
officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, at Reid’s Funeral
Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene. Visitation will continue at the church one
hour before services on Friday. There will be a scripture service at 4:00 p.m.
on Thursday.

Wilbur died Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene.

Edward William Heitland

Funeral Services for Edward William Heitland, 80, of Greene, were held
Monday April 25, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Greene, with Rev.
Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary Cemetery,
Greene with Military Rites Conducted by Tack-Barnett Post 268 American
Legion of Greene.

Edward William Heitland died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Liebe Care
Center in Greene.

Wayne Frances Winkowitsch

Wayne Frances Winkowitsch, 64, of Allison, Iowa, and Waterloo, Iowa,
passed away April 20, 2011, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison in
Allison, Iowa.

Private family services were held Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Sietsema-
Vogel Funeral Home in Allison. There was no visitation. Burial was in the
Allison Cemetery. Pastor Tamara EnTin officiated the service.

Phyllis Marie DeVries

Phyllis Marie DeVries, 66, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away April 20, 2011,
at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Hitesville
Gospel Hall rural Aplington, Iowa, with burial in the Hitesville Gospel Hall
Cemetery. Robert Orr will officiate the service.

Jeanette Evelyn Kramer

Jeanette Evelyn Kramer, age 76, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born July
23, 1934, the daughter of George and Mildred (Krueger) Kueker in
Butterfield, Minnesota. She was baptized August 12, 1934, in the
Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota and confirmed at St. Paul
Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James.

She received her education in Comfrey, Minnesota and graduated
from St. James Public School.

Jeanette was united in marriage with Donald J. Kramer on November
2, 1956, in St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville, Iowa. The couple made
their home in Clarksville. Donald died on July 7, 1989.

Jeanette was a Customer Service Rep. for Iowa Public Service for
35 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. John Lutheran
Church, Clarksville, where she taught Sunday School, served on
the Church Council as Treasurer and was a member of WELCA.

Jeanette’s favorite pastimes included golf, puzzles and reading.

She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. She served on the Clarksville
City Council for 18 years and was a Commercial Club member. She was
also a member of Rebekah Lodge #533.

Jeanette died Monday, April 18, 2011, at her home in Clarksville,
from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents and
her husband, Donald.

Jeanette is survived by one sister, Phyllis Omer, of Fort Myers, Florida;
two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Lumm, Charles City, Iowa and Marge
(Donald) Reiher, Charles City, Iowa; five brothers-in-law, Melvin
(Donna) Kramer, Clarksville, Iowa; Treno (Agnes) Kramer, Plainfield,
Iowa; Vern (Fern) Kramer, Charles City, Iowa; David (Alice) Kramer,
Clarksville, Iowa; Paul Kramer, Shell Rock, Iowa; many nieces,
nephews, cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Services were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2011 at St.
John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, Iowa with Pastor David Nelson
officiating. Organist, Lois Roose, accompanied Congregational Hymns
“This Is My Father’s World” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hands.”
Travis Bouska sang “On Eagle’s Wings” and the church choir sang
“Softly And Tenderly” and “Peace In The Valley.”

Interment was held at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville with Darrell Kramer,
Bruce Kramer, Perry Kramer, Michael Kramer, Timothy Kramer, and Todd Kramer
serving as Casketbearers.

Honorary Casketbearers were Logan Faust and Hannah Faust. Carla Faust and
Cindy Swick served on the Flower Committee.

Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church Elevator Fund,
Clarksville or Teens On A Mission Relay For Life.
