Estella D. Dailey

Funeral services for Estella D. Dailey, 96, formerly of Greene, were held Thursday, July 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Estella Delight Dailey was born January 2, 1910 in Shell Rock, Butler Co., a daughter of Gay and Carrie (Dorman) Smith and died Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. She received her education and graduated from the Shell Rock High School in 1928. She moved to Greene where she was employed as a telephone operator until her marriage to Alvin Robert Dailey on April 10, 1932 at St. Mary=s Catholic Church in Greene. They farmed north of Greene until his death on November 13, 1959. Shortly thereafter she moved into town. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church in Greene, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Jude’s Circle. Living family members include her daughter Darlene Dailey of Mason City; three grandchildren: Ryan Dailey, Wendy Dailey, Kimi Dailey. Estella was preceded in death by her husband Alvin R. Dailey, November 13, 1959; her son: William E. Dailey on February 28, 2003; three sisters: Esther Kelly, Evelyn Ungs, Edna Broadie; one brother: Stanley Smith. Ivan John Eggers

Ivan John Eggers, age 61, of Langley, Oklahoma, was born November 27, 1944, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Ivan and Lois Schrader Eggers. He was their sixth child. Ivan attended two country schools in Grand Meadows, Minnesota before moving to Lyle, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school. Somewhere he picked up the nickname, “Butch” which stuck with him the rest of his life. He was called to serve his country in August 24, 1965, and was honorably discharged August 5, 1967, after spending a year in Vietnam. In 1981, Butch was united in marriage with Marian Mitchell and a son was born. They later divorced. Butch worked as a butcher, carpenter, sheet metal worker and a truck driver. Butch battled with the demons in his life, and had them under control. He lived many years in Oklahoma and spent his last years in Langley by the lake with lots of good old boys for friends. He started his new life on July 11, 2006, and was greeted by his mother, father and a brother, George, a sister-in-law, Mary and a brother-in-law, Donald. Butch is missed in this life by his son, Brian Eggers, East Alton, Illinois; four grandchildren, Haley 9, Tyler 5, McKenzie 4 and Braden J. 4 months; three sisters, Joyce (Dave) Young, Lyle, Minnesota; Jean Hull, Rockford, Iowa and Bonnie (Joe) Brooks, Marshall, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Marie Powers, Rockford, Michigan; two brothers, Lee (Berdine) Powers, Waterloo, Iowa and Harry (Nora) Eggers, Parkersburg, Iowa and more nieces and nephews than you can count. He will be waiting to greet us with a smile when we get there. A Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the Parkersburg United Methodist Church, Parkersburg, Iowa with Rev. Betsy Piette officiating. Pianist was Anna Mae Schnucker and Vocalist Stan Thompson sang “You Are Mine”. Congregational Hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “Hymn of Promise”. Honorary Casketbearers were Butch’s nieces and nephews. Inurnment was in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock, Iowa with Military Rites provided by the VFW Charles City, Iowa.
 

Douglas Lee Mennen

Douglas Lee Mennen, age 68, of Waterloo, Iowa, was born April 26, 1938, in rural Aplington, Iowa, the son of Bruno and Henrietta Miller Mennen. He attended school in Aplington, Iowa. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1957 to 1962. He was proud of his service loved the time he spent in the Marines. Douglas worked at John Deere for one day short of 30 years in the heat treat department. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg. Douglas enjoyed animals, fishing, hunting, trapshooting, gardening, flowers - just about anything outdoors. Trips to Minnesota and the cabin on the lake were highlights for him. He enjoyed going to auctions and loved new cars. Most of all, Douglas loved his children. Douglas died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Country View in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Henrietta Mennen and twin brother and sister, in infancy. He is survived by two sons, Rodney “Rod” (Michele) Mennen, Allison, Iowa, Rick Mennen, Rochester, Minnesota; one daughter, Meressa (Mark) Dedic, Traer, Iowa; five grandchildren, Landon Mennen, Krystal Dedic, Zachary Mennen, Damien Mennen and Brooke Mennen and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Mennen; three brothers, Merlyn (Marlene) Mennen, Grundy Center, Iowa; Robert (Adel) Mennen, Parkersburg, Iowa and Dennis (Lois) Mennen, Parkersburg, Iowa; two sisters, Linda (Jerry) Kessler, Parkersburg, Iowa and Inez (Delbert) Huisman, Parkersburg, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg, Iowa with Rev. Frank Pott officiating. Organist was Mary Ann Simon. Vocalist Stan Thompson sang “One Day at a Time”. Special Music was “When I Get Where I’m Going”. Congregational Hymn was “Mansion Over the Hilltop”. Casketbearers were Zachary Mennen, Damien Mennen, Jeffrey Kessler, Sr., Landon Mennen, Vance Mennen, Krystal Dedic, Brooke Mennen and Clinton Mennen.Honorary Casketbearers were his brothers, Merlyn Mennen, Robert Mennen and Dennis Mennen. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa with Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Benjamin (Ben) Edward Reints

Benjamin (Ben) Edward Reints, age 88, was born the son of Frank and Mabel (Wilson) Reints, on May 8, 1918, on a farm north of Parkersburg, Iowa. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1937. In 1942 he joined the United States Marine Corps, and served for three years in the Pacific. On November 15, 1948, Ben was united in marriage with Evelyn Henry in the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with two daughters, Carolyn and Joan. Before beginning farming, Ben operated a hay baler, and did custom work. He began farming in the Parkersburg area, and in 1958, he moved his family to Ackley, Iowa, where he continued farming. Ben was a member of the First Congregational Church, where he served as trustee and usher. Ben had a great love for his country. He was a member of the American Legion and served as Post and County Commander. He served as flag bearer in the Color Guard for 42 years. Ben loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love for music was passed on to them. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. He took his family on numerous trips throughout the country and over seas. Ben died Friday, July 28, 2006, at the Long Term Care Facility in Grundy Center, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marie Stoppelmoor, Margaret Christensen and Dorris Peterson; and three brothers, John, Vernon and Donald Reints. Ben is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Parkersburg, Iowa; two daughters, Carolyn (Kit) Johnson of Stanton, Iowa, and Joan (Jon) Jutting of Eldridge, Iowa; four grandchildren: Keegan Johnson, Cody Johnson, Jaclynn Jutting and JoDana (Joshua) Varilek; two brothers-in-law, Rient Stoppelmoor of Parkersburg, Iowa and Wilbur Peterson of Grundy Center, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Reints of Parkersburg, Iowa and Darlene Reints of Greenfield, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2006 at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg, Iowa with Rev. Ron Bartlett officiating. Organist was Mary Ann Simon. Vocalist Janice Johnson, Ben’s niece, and Chuck Juel sang “In The Garden”. Jaclynn Jutting , Ben’s granddaughter, sang “Haven of Rest”. Congregational Hymns were “He Touched Me” and “When We All Get To Heaven”. Honorary Casketbearers were John Crane, Rient Stoppelmoor, Wilbur Peterson, Aldrick Kneppe and John Kalkwarf. Casketbearers were (represents the family of) Terry Johnson(Marie Stoppelmoor), Steve Christensen(Margaret Christensen) Curtis Peterson(Dorris Peterson), Josh Varilek(Ben’s Grandson-in-law,) Tom Reints(Vernon Reints) and Greg Reints(Don Reints). Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa with Full Military Rites conducted by Parkersburg American Legion Post # 285. Flower Committee was Gerri Reints, Donis Smith and Brenda Hutton. Olive Lucille Tindall Anklam

Funeral services for Olive Lucille Tindall Anklam, 92, of 13887 Elm Ave., Bristow, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Bennezette Wesleyan Church,13982 150th Street, Bristow, with Pastor Tim McGuire and Pastor Loren Stoneberg officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Olive Lucille Junker was born March 20, 1914, in rural Kesley, Butler Co., a daughter of Henry & Tena (Schneiderman) Junker, and died Friday, July 28, 2006 at her home in rural Bristow. She received her education in the rural schools near Kesley. On December 19, 1934 she was united in marriage to Ray Anderson Tindall in Allison. They farmed on the family farm where she remained for the past 72 years. Mr. Tindall died May 16, 1979. On March 20, 1996 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Arnold Anklam at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Lawrence died June 24, 2005. Ollie’s interests include fishing at Beeds Lake, Camp Comfort, and Northern Minnesota; refinishing antique furniture, raising chickens, and working in her large garden. She also enjoyed her white Persian Cats. Living family members include two daughters: Karyl (Ron) McFate of Donahue, IA, Kathlyn Murray of Ada, OK; one son: Larry Tindall of Sebeka, MN, two step sons: Eugene (Gail) Anklam of Claremore, OK , Richard Anklam of Eau Claire, WI; 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. Ollie was preceded in death by her husbands: Ray A. Tindall, Lawrence A. Anklam; two sons: Garry “Bud” Tindall and Thomas Tindall; her parents; one sister in infancy; eight brothers: Tony Junker, John Junker, Reint Junker, Henry Junker Jr., William Junker, Herman Junker, August Junker, Bennie Junker, and four brothers in infancy. William R. Blakley

Mr. William R. Blakley was born on November 7, 1932 in Ripley, Iowa, the son of Roy & Lorraine Blakley. Bill followed in his family business by working in the Independent Telephone Business. He started working in Stanhope, Iowa followed by Wheatland ,Iowa and Dows, Iowa telephone companies. He later led the Dumont Cooperative Telephone Company from the stages of party line to digital calling, along with expansion into telemarketing, cable television during his tenure. Bill also was owner of Bill’s Electric later to become co owner of B&J Electric in Dumont Iowa. Bill was a member of the Dumont United Methodist Church, serving as Lay Leader. As an active community leader Bill was Boy Scout Leader, City Councilman, Lions Club member and District Governor, and Community Business Club member. Bill’s hobbies were ham radio, bluegrass music, camping, and fishing. As a boy scout leader and family camper he was most noted for his story telling and songs around the campfire. Mr. Blakley was 74 years old at the time of death. Mr. Blakley death occurred July 2, 2006 at Baxter Memorial Hospital, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. Blakley is survived by wife Virginia of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Surviving children are, Donald Blakley and wife Ann of Washington, Missouri, Claudia Bolles and husband Jack of Kimberling City, MO. Surviving grandchildren are, Mark and Kara Blakley, and several Step Children and Step Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents & infant sister. A memorial service will be held at The New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont August 11, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Plymouth, IA. cemetery.

David E. Alexander

David E. Alexander, age 79, of Clarksville, Iowa, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, from natural causes. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at the Community United Methodist Church with burial in the Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville 319-278-4245 and one hour before services at the church. Adel Mennen

Adel Mennen, age 67, of Parkersburg, was born in Butler County, near Parkersburg, Iowa, on November 5, 1938, the daughter of William and Bertha Krider Wiegmann. She received her education and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1956. She was baptized in 1959 in Bethel Lutheran Church. Adel was united in marriage with Robert Mennen on December 11, 1959 in Bethel Lutheran Church, Parkersburg, where they resided their entire married life. Adel was employed at the Parkersburg School as a cook for 11 years. She was a long time active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parkersburg where she taught Sunday School and served on the Church Council. She also attended the Women’s Circle. Adel loved attending church on Sundays. She liked going to Branson to enjoy the musical shows. She loved to feed everyone and always looked forward to cooking for Thanksgiving, Christmas and cookouts in the summer. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Adel died Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Lorraine Thorne, Barbara Calkins, Kate Calvert, Louise Siebenga and Margaret Ibeling; and two brothers, Bill Wiegmann and Ed Wiegmann. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Mennen, Parkersburg, Iowa; two daughters, Laurie (Bill) Batchelder, Waterloo, Iowa; Tammi (Marty) Morgan, Waterloo, Iowa; one son, Vance Mennen, Reinbeck, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jeremy Mennen, Amber Batchelder, Gabby and Hannah Morgan, Austin Mennen; one great-granddaughter, Haleigh Batchelder; one sister, Thelma (Marvin) Fleshner, Parkersburg, Iowa and one sister-in-law, Bunny Wiegmann, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, Iowa with Rev. Daniel J. Larson officiating. Organist was Bernice Nicklaus. Vocalist Barb Buseman sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Rock of Ages”. Congregational Hymn was “One Day at a Time”. Honorary Casketbearers were her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchild Amber Batchelder, Austin Mennen, Gabby Morgan, Hannah Morgan and Haleigh Batchelder. Elizabeth (Bessie) Alberts

Elizabeth (Bessie) Alberts, 91, of Allison, Iowa, passed away August 5, 2006, at the Allison Health Care Center. She was born November 18, 1914, in rural Aplington, Iowa, to Harm and Gezien (Rops) Hemmen and attended schools in the Aplington area. Bessie was united in marriage to Harm Alberts on March 14, 1939, in Aplington, Iowa, and was a homemaker. She was born again in 1933 and later gathered with Christians at the Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington. Bessie enjoyed baking and crocheting, and loved opening her home to friends and family. She also cherished the times spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bessie is survived by her son Ken & wife Linda Alberts of Rochelle, Illinois, daughter Elaine & husband Darrell Wessels of Blue River, Wisconsin, daughter Kathy & husband Steve Walvatne of Hawkeye, brother Harry Hemmen, Parkersburg, sister-in-law Harriett Hemmen of Aplington, sister-in-law Carma Hemmen of Dumont, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Beverly, grandson Todd, six brothers Harm, Pete, Jake, Bert, Herman & George, and one sister Hattie. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at the Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington with Robert Orr & Russell Nesbitt officiating. Special music was “Amazing Grace”, “My Savior First of All”, and “Meet Me There”. The committal song was “When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder”. Flower attendants were Aleasa Kampman and Betty Williams. Ushers were Dallas Kluiter, Kenneth Tack and Larry Asche. Pallbearers were Troy Alberts, Trev Alberts, Same Draves, Dan Wessels, Jonathan Walvatne and David Walvatne. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Palmer, Joe Frazier and Joe Camarra. Final resting place was in the Hitesville Cemetery, rural Aplington, Iowa. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

BUSEMAN

Aidan Steven Buseman, infant son of Justin and Melissa (Brase) Buseman was stillborn at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, on August 8, 2006. Survivors include his parents Justin and Melissa Buseman of Cedar Falls; one brother, Logan Buseman of Cedar Falls; grandparents Les and Cindy Buseman of Dumont, and Steve and Cristie Brase of Plainfield; great grandparents, Louise Buseman of Dumont, Alvin and Frances Schipper of Kesley, Lorenz and Wilma Brase of Plainfield, Dirk Newhoff of Hazelton; Uncle Travis Buseman of Dumont, and Uncle Leonard and Aunt Wendy Brase of Plainfield; and one cousin, Nicholas Brase of Plainfield. He was preceded in death by three great grandparents, Norman Buseman, Alma Newhoff, and Lyle Ensign; and two uncles, Levi Buseman and Timthy Brase. Graveside services for Aidan were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Dumont Cemetery with the Rev. James Ackerson officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family. ALEXANDER

David Alexander, age 79, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born December 19, 1926, the son of William and Alma Freese Alexander in Clarksville, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Dumont High School in 1945. David served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1946, spending time in California and in Germany during the occupation. On November 11, 1947, David was united in marriage with Shirley A. Folkers at the Dumont Evangelical Church. They made their home in Dumont where he was employed at the Community Oil Coop. In 1955, they moved to their farm near Plainfield where they farmed until David retired in 1979. In 1988, David and Shirley moved to Clarksville. David was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville and had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Plainfield. He was active in the community as a member of the Clarksville Lions, Clarksville AMVETs and the Bristow Masonic Lodge. He had served on the Plainfield School Board and was active in the Republican Party. He was a member of the Bremer Co. Farm Bureau, and of the Bremer County Pork Producers. He enjoyed golfing, fishing in Canada and playing cards. Most of all, he highly valued the time he spent with Shirley, his family and friends. David died at August 5, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Ann Alexander on September 16, 2002; his son, Clark Alexander on July 15, 2002; his parents, William and Alma Alexander; his step-mother, Minnie Alexander; two brothers, John Alexander and Richard Alexander; one sister, Florence Miller and one step-brother, Billy Gordon. David is survived by one son, Mark (Annette) Alexander, Eldridge, Iowa; one daughter, Joelle (Alan) Jensen, North English, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Pam Alexander, Cedar Falls, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica Alexander; Cody (Cara) and Katie Jensen; and Amy (Nick) Goetsch and Eric Alexander; one sister, Alma Jean (Jack) Sims, Des Moines, Iowa; two step-sisters, Sue (Larry) Moran, Hampton, Iowa and Phyllis (Heine) Cassman, Delhi, Iowa. Funeral Service were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Community United Methodist Church, Clarksville, Iowa with Pastor Ann Donat officiating. Organist was Patty Best. Vocalist Denise Wade sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Lord’s Prayer”. Congregational Hymns were “He Leadth Me”, “Hymn of Promise”, “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and “Old Rugged Cross”. Casketbearers were Cody Jensen, Alan Jensen, Eric Alexander, J.D. Alexander, John Sims, Terry Sims, Randall Miller and Kendall Miller. Burial was in Lynwood Cemetery Clarksville with Military Rites conducted by Clarksville AMVETS Post #30. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, was in charge of arrangements. ACKLEY

Miron E. Ackley, 89, of 412 Beelar Street, Marble Rock, died Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. His body was donated to the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines. Private Memorial Services to be held at a later date. Miron was born June 5, 1917, in Union Township, Floyd Co.,a son of Joe and Mary (Arhart) Ackley. As a young man he attended and graduated from the Marble Rock Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Opal Smith March 13, 1955. Miron and Opal shared 51 living years together. They loved to fish, farm, going dancing and especially family gatherings. Miron is survived by his wife Opal, one brother: Herman Ackley of Washington, his step-son: Don (Judy) Sharp of Marble Rock; six grandchildren: Kent (Ann) Sharp of Pensicola, Fl,Kiel (Cheryl) Sharp of Springfield, VA, Mike (Lois) Kepple of Greene, Kelly (Allan) Zweck of Greene, Kayleen (Jason) Landers of Greene and Rhonda (significant other Bob) Perry of Charles City, and eight Great Grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-Judd Ackley of Washington St. And two step-daughters: Janice Sharp and Linda Sharp Kepple.

Lorraine Ann Schneiderman, 72, of rural Bristow, Iowa, passed away August 14, 2006, at her home in rural Bristow, Iowa. She was born February 4, 1934, in Butler County, Iowa, to Mann and Lena (Buss) Mennen. She attended rural Butler County Schools. Lorraine married Bob Schneiderman on August 12, 1953 at the Bristow Reformed Church in Bristow, Iowa. She worked as a homemaker. Lorraine was a member of the Dumont Reformed Church and was secretary of the RCWM at the Dumont Reformed Church. She enjoyed planting a huge garden every year and shared its bounty with family and friends. She loved to work with her flowers and baked hundreds of pies, cookies and other goodies to share. She was especially known for her homemade buns. Lorraine adored her family and would always attend her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Lorraine enjoyed basketball and loved watching her grandsons play basketball. She also enjoyed playing cards and going fishing. Lorraine is survived by her husband Bob Schneiderman of Bristow, daughter Kathy & husband Alan Eberline of Bristow, daughter Karen & husband Jeff Heuer of Dumont, granddaughter Emily & husband Rodney Schut of Waverly, grandson Matt Eberline of Bristow, grandsons Clayton Heuer, Jacey Heuer, Kyle Heuer and Kolton Heuer, all of Dumont, great-granddaughter Morgan Schut and great-grandchild due in September of Waverly, sister Leona Miller of Dumont, and sister Frances Winkowitsch of Aplington. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edward Mennen and Melvin Mennen. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2006 at the Dumont Reformed Church with Rev. Steve Petroelje officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Leann Miller accomp-anying soloist, Eldon Siemers. Pallbearers were Dalen Miller, Kyle Heuer, Jacey Heuer, Clayton Heuer, Matt Eberline and Rodney Schut. Honorary pallbearer Kolton Heuer. Final resting place was in Oak Hill Cemetery, rural Bristow, Iowa. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mina Jane Toebe, 79, of Allison, Iowa, passed away August 19, 2006, at her home in Allison, Iowa. She was born on a farm north of Kesley, Iowa, in Butler County on August 22, 1926, to Jerry Jerald and Hermina (Kappel) Brinkman. At a very young age Mina and her family moved to a farm one and one-half miles north of Allison in Butler County where she lived until she married Ethan Toebe on October 5, 1945, in Rockford, Iowa. Mina attended country schools in Butler County. Mina worked as a cook at the Allison Health Care Center and a custodian at UNI. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. Mina enjoyed camping, spending winters in Texas, trout fishing up north in the summer and traveling. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and most recently playing cards at the AmVet’s Club. Mina is survived by her daughter Donna & husband Paul Eaton of Waterloo, daughter Judy Archer of Waterloo, son Myron & wife Mary Toebe of Shell Rock, five grandchildren: Christine Poppe, Matthew & wife Patches Toebe, Stephanie Toebe, Wanda & husband Wade Miller, Michael & wife Terri Eaton, five great grandchildren: Hunter Poppe, Samantha Poppe, Austin Toebe, Gunner Toebe and Emily Faith Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ethan in 1998, brothers Jerald, Chris, Ernest and Donald and one grandson Timothy. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison with Rev. Jeffrey A. Blank officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Vivian Green. Ushers were LeRoy Dralle, Robert Wubbena, and Darwin Wubbena. Pallbearers were Kim Miller, Dean Wiegmann, Dallas Kluiter, Richard Seehusen, Charles H. Mosher, and Harry Hummel. Final resting place was in the Allison Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Glendora Forry, age 85, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born January 16, 1921, the daughter of Harry and Nell Gertrude Chambers Smith near Elma in Mitchell County, Iowa. She received her education in various schools as the family often moved. Glendora was united in marriage with Chester E. Forry on April 9, 1939 on the Forry family farm in rural Clarksville, Iowa. The couple farmed near Ionia, Iowa, in 1949 moved to Clarksville where they farmed for 15 years. In 1964, they moved east of Clarksville where they continued to farm. Glendora and Chester were divorced in 1970. She moved to Cedar Falls for a year, then lived in Altoona, Iowa for a short time. She returned to Cedar Falls and since 1982 she lived in Clarksville. Glendora did house cleaning, wallpapering and worked for Granger Tree Service. She was a waitress for the North Cedar Café. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville where she was baptized and confirmed on March 18, 1967. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, going to the Meskwaki Casino and playing cards at Pete & Shorty’s. Glendora died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant brother; one sister, Mary Yost; one son-in-law, Lawrence Drenth and one grandson, Scott Thurm. Glendora is survived by her long-time companion, Fred Wedeking, Clarksville, Iowa; three sons, Bill (Becky) Forry, Castle Rock, Colorado; Dan (Bonnie) Forry, Clarksville, Iowa; Jim (Jenny) Forry, Grundy Center, Iowa; two daughters, Judy Drenth, Decorah, Iowa and Dixie (Gerald) Thurm, Denver, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Smith, Clarksville, Iowa and one sister, Doris Kollmann, Ionia, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, Iowa with Pastor Ann Donat officiating. Casketbearers were Douglas Kollmann, John Smith, Alfred Albers, Dick DeWitt, Henry Eiklenborg and William Sinnwell. Burial was in Lowell Cemetery, rural Clarksville, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or to the family.

Funeral Services for Roy R. Krambeer, 91, of Greene, will be 11:00 a.m.,Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Greene with Pastor Ashok Patet officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Visitation will be at 4:00- 7:00 p.m.. Monday, August 21, 2006 at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Roy R. Krambeer was born August 19, 1915 in Rudd a son of William and Gertrude (Ellis) Krambeer and died Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Roy’s family moved to Greene when he was a teenager. His first fall in Greene, Roy helped Albert Barth with the harvest. Then he serviced cars for Harry Barth at his garage on the west bank of the Shell Rock River. Soon he learned to drive Barth’s semis, hauling draft horses to lumber mills in New England, livestock to Chicago and St. Paul, and during W.W. II, helping relocate families to other cities for defense work. These experiences inspired Roy to tell many good stories. On July 4, 1936 he was united in marriage to Elsie Irene Teeple at her parents’ home in Greene. They also made their home in Greene. In 1945 Roy began work for Bathke Oil (later B& H Oil), hauling fuel in Iowa and Minnesota. In 1957 Roy and Elsie moved to Mason City to be closer to the Williams Pipe Line. He continued to drive for B & H until 1965 when he transferred to Ruan Transport Company with whom he worked until his retirement in 1975. Following Elsie’s death in June of 1993, Roy returned to Greene to make his home. Roy was a member of the Odd Fellows in Greene and Mason City. He served in various offices over the years, including Noble Grand in Mason City. Roy was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Greene. Roy enjoyed reading, fishing, woodworking and watching the birds. He loved caring for his dogs and enjoyed the companionship they offered. Living family members include one daughter, Janice Krambeer, of Austin, Mn; four sisters-in-law: Arlene Teeple Wedeking of Clarksville, who made her home with Roy and Elsie during her teen years; Catherine Teeple of Greene, Merna Teeple of Greene, Helen Teeple of Charles City, Wilma Witzel of Charles City; one brother-in-law: Neal Wedeking of Clarksville; numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Teeple Krambeer; his parents; three sisters: Lettie Clark, Dottie Schweizer, Goldie Kensure; one brother: Donald Krambeer. Miron E. Ackley, 89, of 412 Beelar Street, Marble Rock, died Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. His body was donated to the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines. Private Memorial Services to be held at a later date. Miron was born June 5, 1917, in Union Township, Floyd Co.,a son of Joe and Mary (Arhart) Ackley. As a young man he attended and graduated from the Marble Rock Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Opal Smith March 13, 1955. Miron and Opal shared 51 living years together. They loved to fish, farm, going dancing and especially family gatherings. Miron is survived by his wife Opal, one brother: Herman Ackley of Washington, his step-son: Don (Judy) Sharp of Marble Rock; six grandchildren: Kent (Ann) Sharp of Pensicola, Fl,Kiel (Cheryl) Sharp of Springfield, VA, Mike (Lois) Kepple of Greene, Kelly (Allan) Zweck of Greene, Kayleen (Jason) Landers of Greene and Rhonda (significant other Bob) Perry of Charles City, and eight Great Grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-Judd Ackley of Washington St. And two step-daughters: Janice Sharp and Linda Sharp Kepple.
