Vera Nauman, 84, of Charles City, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Vera Nauman will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Rudd.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Vera Mae Nauman was born April 20, 1929, in Floyd County, the daughter of Emmett Nauman, Sr. and Hannah Janssen. She received her education at home. Due to her disability she lived at home until entering the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

Living family members include six siblings, Lester Nauman of Floyd, Bernice (Orville) Caspers of Swaledale, Gladys Wandro of Arizona, Paul Nauman of Charles City, Alice (Victor) Klopping of Newton and Ardis Richardson of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, David Nauman and Emmett Nauman, Jr.

Isaac Scott Byers was born August 13, 2012, in Charles City, the son of Corey Byers and Elizabeth Reed. Isaac was the glue that held everything together. He loved to play with his brother, sisters, his puppy Lucy and loved being outside and going for walks. Isaac loved it when his family sang "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" to him. He liked popsicles and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Every single day when Corey would get home from work, Isaac would smile and crawl to him at the door. He always had to be right on mommy's hip and had to be with either mommy or daddy. Isaac always smiled and laughed which made a bad day the best day ever.

Living family members include his parents, Corey Byers and Elizabeth Reed; sisters, Morgan Reed and Kylie Byers; brother, Kolbie Byers; paternal grandparents, Christina and Tony Byers; maternal grandparents, Patti and Scott Reed; numerous aunts and uncles: Craig Byers and Stacy Sosnowski, Travis and JoAnna Byers, Christopher, St. Charles, and Tiffany Reed, Candice and Jordan Sheplar, Victoria Reed, and Nathan Reed.

Clair North, 80, of Charles City, died Sunday, August 4, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services for Clair North will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Jane Keel will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Clair John North was born March 25, 1933, the son of Glen S. and Neta (Sisson) North. He received his education in Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School in 1951. Clair married his high school sweetheart, Noriene Matthews, on December 29, 1951. The couple made their home in Charles City where they raised their family. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Clair began working for Northwestern Bell immediately after high school and retired from the company after 43 years. Two of those years Clair enlisted in the 101st Army Airborne Battalion which was stationed in Puerto Rico during the Korean War, 1951-1953.

Clair was an avid sportsman who enjoyed coon and game bird hunting. Coon hunting was his favorite sport and he could name all of his coon and bird dogs by name, but his favorite friend and companion was his house dog, Dixie. Clair also enjoyed weekends showing horses with his children, and he spent countless hours donating his time with the Isaac Walton League including 25 years teaching hunter gun safety courses. Clair loved fishing with this family and all of his friends from the West Wind Trailer Park at Lake City. Minn. during the summers.

He also liked woodworking as a hobby, and would spend hours in his wood working shop making furniture as well as squirrel and bird feeders for his children. Most of all Clair loved the time spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Living family members include his wife of 61 years, Noriene of Charles City; son Scott and Kathy (McGurn) North of Onawa; daughter, Diana (North) and Dave Schwichtenberg of Garner; grandchildren, Sarah Martindale, Lucas North and Cody Schwichtenberg; great-granddaughter, Ella Martindale; sister, Neta Peterson of Oakley, Calif.; brother-in-law, Gary Matthews; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Neta; brother-in-law, Don Matthews; brother, Bob North; sisters, Patti Fairbanks, Marion Johnson and Alice Beasly; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Marion Matthews and grandsons, Kristopher Bo and Daniel Lee Schwichtenberg.

Wilma Stites, 77, of Charles City, died Monday, August 5, 2013, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

Wilma Mae Stites was born January 30, 1936, in Iowa City, the daughter of Lester and Hazel Smith. She grew up in Chariton and graduated from high school. In September 1954, she was united in marriage to Gene Kline. They made their home in Albia and raised three children.

In June 1970, Wilma was united in marriage to Raymond Junior Stites. The couple made their home in Chariton for a short while before moving to Charles City where they lived for the remainder of Wilma's life. Wilma retired from Sara Lee in 1998. In the 43 years spent together, Wilma and Junior enjoyed a happy marriage without any disagreements or arguments.

Wilma liked to go fishing and camping. She and Junior had camped in the same spot in Lime Springs for 26 years. She also enjoyed taking care of her yard, her home and traveling to South Dakota and going through Custer State Park.

Living family members include her husband, Junior Stites; sons, Allen (Leann) Kline and Dale (Tess) Kline; step-son, Michael (Carol) Stites; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Duane Kline; and two step-daughters, Jolene Stites Curtis and Vicki Stites Donath.

Phyllis Lee (Stalker) Kelly was born August 8, 1944, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Maxine (Goebel) Stalker. She was educated in the Charles City Public Schools, graduating in 1962. Phyllis then attended the nursing program at Allen Nursing and continued her education by completing the Master's Program in Nursing at the University of Minnesota. She began her career as a Registered Nurse and grew into an active small business owner.

Phyllis was very active in the Republican Party serving as National Committee Woman for 12 years, and she volunteered for several political campaign activities. Phyllis was a member of First Congregational Church. She was very active in local community causes and enjoyed playing bridge often with friends. Phyllis was always willing to reach out a helping hand to those who might be in need.

Living family members include two sons, James A. Friedrich (Shanda Harder) of Ankeny and Thomas Kelly of Mason City; brother, Rodney (Pat) Stalker of Texas; four step-children, Clarkson (Pam) Kelly III of Malta, Montana, Rebecca (Douglas) Lower of Pocatello, Idaho, Elizabeth Kelly of Washington, Iowa and Christopher (Lisa) Kelly, MD of Monroe, Michigan; two grandchildren, Jackson Friedrich and Madison Friedrich; five step-grandchildren, Brittain Kelly (Michelle Lammers), Brieann (Ed) Alves, Brikotah (Trevor) Styles, Patrick Kelly and Erin Kelly; five step-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Dr. Thomas (Donna) Kelly of Des Moines and Dr. James Kelly of Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Kelly of Waverly; special friend Gordon Kettleson; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Shirley Ann Porter Harman was born March 27, 1926, at Jewell, the daughter of Melvin and Amy (Rugg) Porter. She graduated from Jewell High School in 1943. Shirley lived in Jewell until she was married to Leo Harman on November 17, 1943. They moved to Florence, South Carolina, where Leo was stationed with the Army Air Force. After Leo's discharge they moved back to Jewell where they lived from 1946 to 1956 when they moved to Charles City. She worked at Muesel Hardware and then for J. C. Penney's from 1965 until it closed in 1986. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pythian Sisters, and volunteered at the Treasure Chest. Her interests included embroidery, sewing, camping and fishing.

Living family members include three children, Steven (Charlene) Harman of Iowa City, Carolyn (Donnie) Lokenvitz and Connie (Dale) Nicholson both of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; special friend Steve Wood of Charles City; sister-in-law, Cleanne St. John of Fairmont, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo on July 31, 1995; two brothers; and three sisters.

Jean Geraldine Polsdofer

Jean Geraldine (Schoneman) Polsdofer, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell, Iowa where she had resided since August of 2010. Online condolences may be left at www.Fullertonfh.com

Delbert "Dean" Vokes, 92, of Floyd, died Monday, August 12, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services for Dean Vokes will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Paul Phillips of the Gospel Lighthouse will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Delbert Dean Vokes was born June 2, 1921 in Sheffield, the son of Lester and Mabel (Selix) Vokes. He received his education at Rockford. On August 24, 1940, he was united in marriage to Maxine Stegen. Dean worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company for many years. He was a member of the UAW and served as a union steward.

For 23 years he was mayor of Floyd. Dean helped to establish the Floyd Community Center, Floyd Dollars for Scholars and organized the Floyd Fun Days. He was an avid reader. For three generations he was the "candy man" of Floyd. Dean enjoyed sharing his life with his children and their families and took special pride in the fact that he had 50 grandchildren.

Living family members include three children, Bill (Janet) Vokes of Floyd, Deanna (Duane) Alcott of Sheffield and Judy (Eric) Lien of Rockford; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on February 15, 2006; two brothers; and four sisters.

Marie Frevert

Nov. 22, 1903 - July 16, 2013

AMES, IOWA - Marie Frevert, 109, of Ames, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames of which she had been a long time resident.

Marie was born Nov. 22, 1903, in Denison, to Reverend Albert and Lydia (Schwieger) Gauger. She graduated from Garner High School then went on to attend Morningside College, Iowa State Teachers College and the University of Colorado. Marie taught country school in Klemme and town school in Hampton and Odebolt.

On Sept. 12, 1935, Marie was united in marriage to Warren Frevert at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Warren and Marie farmed near Rudd and she enjoyed being a housewife, gardening and caring for her family.

Marie is survived by her sons, Bill (Marcie) Frevert of Emmetsburg, Jim (Clare) Frevert of Nev.; her daughter, Alice Srp of Camanche; her brother, CJ Gauger of Ames; her grandchildren, Larry (Suzie) Frevert of Ashville, N.C., Anne (David) Cable of Rockford, Ill., Daniel (Liz) Srp of Camanche, Julia (Chris) Brush of Lee's Summit, Mo., Tom Srp of LeClaire, Jody (Dan) Zarnowiec, Anne (Greg) Sween, Kristen (Gerard) Ruiz and Kortney (Sheri) Freeman all of Emmetsburg; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1994; and three brothers, William, Harlan and Stanley Gauger.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd, Iowa. A time of luncheon and fellowship will follow at the Rudd United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rudd United Methodist Church in loving memory of Marie.

Maxine D. Eggert

Maxine D. Eggert, 95, of Charles City, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Maxine Dorothy Core Eggert was born in Hancock County on October 14, 1917, the daughter of Glen Core and Selma (Bakken) Core Maxine graduated from Charles City High School in June 1935. After attending Waldorf College in Forest City, she worked as a secretary in the superintendent's office of the Charles City Community School District.

In 1942, Maxine married Robert J. (Bob) Eggert. The couple resided in Iowa City before returning to Charles City in 1945, after Bob returned from World War II. They celebrated 68 wonderful years together and marked each day with love.

Maxine was devoted to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, quietly serving in many capacities. In the 1960s, she donated alter coverings that she had spent many hours embroidering. In the 1980s, she wrote a history of St. John's from its inception. Both were labors of love.

In the 1990s, Maxine became a founding supporter of the project to transform the childhood home of Carrie Lane Chapman Catt, a Charles City High School graduate and leading suffragist for women's right to vote, into a memorial and museum. She was a lifelong member of P.E.O. Chapter JQ, where over the years she authored many dramatic readings and programs.

Throughout the years, Maxine and Bob gave generously to the community. They deeply valued the role of local institutions such as the Family YMCA, the library, the community foundation, the Floyd County Historical Society, and Charles City Arts Center. More recently, they established a scholarship under the auspices of the Charles City Education and Excellence Foundation.

Living family members include a daughter, Karen Eggert Paget of Emeryville, California; four grandchildren, Tim Enwall of Boulder, Colorado; Nicholas Paget of Spokane, Wash.; Kemmie Paget Barnes of San Diego, Calif.; Teri Hansen Keeler of Niwot, Colorado; and seven great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Eggert and daughter Barbara Eggert Hansen.

Maxine D. Eggert, 95, of Charles City, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Maxine Dorothy Core Eggert was born in Hancock County, Iowa, on October 14, 1917, the daughter of Glen Core and Selma (Bakken) Core. Maxine graduated from Charles City High School in June 1935. After attending Waldorf College in Forest City, she worked as a secretary in the superintendent's office of the Charles City Community School District. In 1942, Maxine married Robert J. (Bob) Eggert. The couple resided in Iowa City before returning to Charles City in 1945, after Bob returned from World War II. They celebrated 68 wonderful years together and marked each day with love.

Lyle Poe was born December 5, 1944, in Charles City, the son of Harold and Florence (Howe) Poe. He received his education in a rural county school near Powersville. He worked for many area farmers; Rolene Construction, Rausch Brothers Trucking, and Poe Welding and Repair with his father. Lyle also had is own repair business. On May 24, 1987, Lyle was united in marriage to Ardyce Jung in Nashua. To this union three children were gained. From there they moved to Ionia where they resided until the time of his passing. Lyle enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, along with working on tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Ardyce; one daughter, Jeanette Liddle (Cory Hobson) of Ionia; two sons, Mark (Janet) Austin of Austin, Minn.; Hunter (Tiffany) Jung of New Hampton; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Mealy, Mitchell Mealy, Claire Austin, Matthew Smith (Chris Brandt), Tyler Rosonke, Abigail Liddle, Blaze Jung; one great-grandchild, Mason Mealy; four brothers, Max Poe of Bellevue, N.E., Dale (Connie) Poe of Greene, Allen Poe of Cedar Falls, Gary (Janet) Poe of Maple Grove, Minn.; two nephews, Seth (Jacque) Poe, Aaron (Monique) Poe; one niece, Rebecca (Matt Peterson) Poe; two great-nephews; one great-niece and numerous cousins.

Ona Butler, age 90, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Rudd United Methodist Church in Rudd, with Pastor Wendy Johannesen and Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Ona Butler was born July 4, 1923, in rural Osage, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Minnis) Gilbert. She attended country schools and graduated from Osage High School. Ona received two years of Normal School training and taught school near McIntire. On August 8, 1943, she married Leonard Butler at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Osage. Ona worked for 33 years at Mode O Day in Mason City.

She was an active member of the Rudd United Methodist Church and always enjoyed music. Her family and friends were the highlight of her life. Ona will always be remembered for her terrific sense of humor.

Ona is survived by her two children, James (Diane) Butler of Nora Springs, Donna (Tony) Kuhlemeier of Rudd; four grandchildren, Pamela (Kim) Butler Channel of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Brent (Heather) Butler of Kensett, Corey (Marria) Kuhlemeier of Rudd, and Kyra (Greg) Fritz of Pocahontas; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard in 1994; her sisters, Ruth Williams and May Nielsen; and her brothers, George, Alan, Grant, John, Max, and Laurence Gilbert.

Keith Nelson Eldredge

Aug. 13, 1935 - Aug. 16, 2013

Keith Nelson Eldredge, 78, of Newburn, Tennessee, passed away at his home on August 16, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on August 13, 1935, in Carey, Idaho, to Forest Howard Eldredge and Vivian Elizabeth Cross Eldredge. He was amongst 11 children in the family.

On October 24, 1957, he married Beverly Ann Cutler and they had four children: Keith Junior, David John, Christine Camille and Penny Jean Eldredge. After working several jobs in Idaho, their family relocated to Charles City, Iowa where he spent most of his working career as a mechanic technician for Swartzrock Implement.

He spent much of his time working on cars and furthering his education in the field of mechanics. He obtained his GED from North Iowa Area Community College in May of 1972.

Keith loved to fish, play guitar and harmonica, camp, make homemade foods with the family, and be a testimony of the Lord to others. He was a faithful member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Charles City for over 30 years. He became an ordained minister on Jan. 19, 1997.

After losing his wife Beverly to health complications he wed Marie Lamb on July 22, 1988. Upon retirement from Swartzrock Implement in 2001 they moved to Newburn, Tenn.

Keith spent several years as a Red Coat Volunteer at the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg, Tenn. He was a great inspiration to patients and staff with his willingness to serve and undying testimony of the Gospel. Keith was also a member of Second Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by Keith Junior, David John, and Beverly Ann Eldredge, his parents, and six siblings.

Keith is survived by his wife of 25 years Marie Eldredge, daughters Christine (Tony) Kerns, Penny (Stuart) Ihde; and four stepsons, Gary Lamb, Ray (Brenda) Lamb, John (Tracy) Lamb, and Paul Lamb. Grandchildren include Brandon (Rachel) Kerns, Brian (Miriam) Kerns, Bradley (Olivia) Kerns, Ryan (Lindsay) Ihde, Rosalie Ihde, Regina (Joseph) Krambeer along with five stepgrandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include sister Mary Stanger, brother Allen Eldredge, brother Burl Eldredge, and sister Julia Ward.

Memorial services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church (703 Milwaukee St.) in Charles City on Thursday Aug. 22 from 5-8 p.m. in an open house forum. An additional memorial service will be held in Dyersburg, Tenn., on Aug. 31 from 2-5 p.m. The venue is yet to be determined.

Memorial donations can be directed to the family at 2026 Paulis Drive, Faribault, MN 55021 in memory of Keith Eldredge. Funds will be used to cover burial expenses, and any additional funds will be directed to the American Cancer Society and Hospice Care Centers of Tennessee.

Annette C. Barr, 83, of Mercedes, Texas, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 10, 2013 at Weslaco Nursing Home, Weslaco, Texas.

Annette was born July 11, 1930 in rural Charles City, Iowa to Elmer and Jannett Baldwin. She received her education in Charles City High School. On March 15, 1948 Annette and Roland E. Barr were united in marriage in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Bassett, Iowa until 1964 when they moved to Charles City. They made their retirement home in Mercedes, Texas. She was a member of the Central Christian Fellowship Church, Weslaco, Texas. Annette retired from Sears in Charles City, Iowa. Her favorite passions were her family, church, knitting, quilting, singing and camping.

She is survived by her husband Roland of 65 years. She has three children: Steven Barr and Diane of Charles City, Glenda Morgan and Richard, of Merrillville, Ind. and Terri and Chuck Bidelman of Battle Creek, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by their son David, grandson Chris Thurow and granddaughter Jamie Barr Fox, three brothers Walter, Wayne, and Darrell and twin sister Jannette Howe.

Cyrus Berk was born on August 31, 1938, to Frank and Margret (Hain) Berk in Rockford. He attended country school in Rockford through eighth grade. On October 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Darlene Arndt in Mason City. To this union five children were born. Cyrus spent his life on a four-generation farm. He loved the land and he loved farming. His life was about working to provide for his family. He was a hard worker, and worked several jobs outside of farming. Cyrus worked at the Sugar Beet Plant in Mason City; he worked as a mechanic; and drove semi truck delivering farm equipment. When he wasn't working he enjoyed spending time with his faithful dog, Susie. Together they rode the tractor and Susie always jumped in the front seat of the van. Cyrus was a talkative and friendly person. He would chat with the neighbors about the weather and farm sales.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Sandra (Ronald) Goranson of Mason City, Sherry Berk of Hampton, Iowa, Susan (Bryan) Dalton of Martinsville, Ohio, and Mike Berk of Mason City; son-in-law, Rory Tegtmeier of Otley, Iowa; and grandchildren, Rory Tegtmeier II, Zachery Tegtmeier, Kari Goranson, and Seth Goranson.

Maxine H. Sturm, 86, of Charles City died on Monday August 26, 2013, at Cedar Health. A graveside service and inurnment will be held on Thursday August 29, at 10 a.m. at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Old Highway Road in Charles City. Reverend Margaret Hutchens will be officiating.

Maxine was born on October 8, 1926, in Mason City. She married George Sturm on March 18, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota.

Maxine work for 13 years with the Black Hawk County Juvenile Court Systems when she lived in Waterloo, on returning to Charles City in 1988, she volunteered at Floyd County Hospital, and at the Charles City library, as an avid reader she would always say, "I love a good book!" She loved to visit Mount Rushmore. Her most favorite vacation spot was the Black Hills.

She was a member of The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was the church secretary.

Survivors are her son Stephen Sturm and his wife Dianne of Washington, Iowa, a grandson Eric Sturm also of Washington and a granddaughter Jennifer Sturm of San Francisco, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Helen Foster, and her husband George.

CLEAR LAKE, IOWA - Charles (Chuck) Thomas Jorgensen, 91, of Clear Lake, was called home in the evening of August 26, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, to be with God, our heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ our Savior and redeemer.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 29, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave N., Clear Lake with Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5-7 p.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Charles T. Jorgensen was born August 5, 1922, the son of Charles and Florence M. (Callanan) Jorgensen. His father was killed in an accident at the sand quarry before his birth. Florence died when Charles was nine months old. His grandfather died when Chuck was two years old. Meda Callanan, his grandmother, raised him alone.

Charles attended schools in Clear Lake, graduating in the class of 1942. After duty with the U.S. Army, he married Mary Collins in August 1945. They were married 25 years before her death in August 1970.

On June 8, 1973, Charles married Sharon (Martin) Sylvester, a widow from Charles City, and adopted her three girls, Sherri, Terri, and June. He was a wonderful father and husband. Chuck and Sharon celebrated their 40 blessed years together with a big family dinner and party on June 8 this year.

Chuck retired in 1982 from Clear Lake Farmers Co-op Elevator where he had been employed for 39 years. He was assistant manager and bookkeeper.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church since February 1946, Life member of Am Vets, and Life member of the American Legion (70 continuous years).

Chuck and Sharon belonged to Second Chance Sams camping group and enjoyed camping and traveling. They spent 28 winters in Donna, Texas. Chuck enjoyed time with his family and friends. He lived his whole life in Clear Lake.

Surviving Charles are his wife, Sharon, Clear Lake, daughter June (Glenn) Myers from Webster, Minn., five grandchildren, Shannon Cosgriff, Clear Lake; Heather Cosgriff, Nashua; and Christopher Cosgriff, Oelwein; Gary (Maddi) Myers, Crystal Lake, Minn.; and Kim (Donte) Perkins, Austin, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren, Allison and Angela Horn, Parker Bast, Sydnee and Clara Cosgriff, Charles Myers, and Nifaya and Caliyea Perkins; a sister-in-law, Mary Slifka, Cresco; and a brother-in-law, David Martin and his wife Elfriede of Olympia, Wash.; Two sons-in-laws, Eddie Schaff, Forest City and Brad Cosgriff, Clear Lake and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his first wife, Mary, his daughter Sherri Cosgriff in 1998, his daughter Terri Schaff in 2009, his father-in-law Charles Martin in 2003, his mother-in-law Martha Martin in 2006, and a great grandson Jason Michael Cosgriff in 1999.

Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Clifford Earl "Chip" Lockey

Clifford "Chip" Lockey, 89, of Ionia, died Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Clifford Earl "Chip" Lockey was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Iowa Falls, the son of Harry and Martha (Paisley) Lockey. He received his education in Nashua graduating from Nashua High School. Chip then enlisted in the Navy and served his country for nearly three years during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Saginaw Bay. When Chip was honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned home and married Faith Duncan at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on June 1, 1947. Chip was a foreman in the foundry at White Farm for 37 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Bethany Alliance Church where he was baptized the same day as his son Gordon. Chip enjoyed pitching horseshoes, bowling, fishing, gardening and hunting at Gordy's. He really loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife of 66 years, Faith of Ionia; daughter, Diane (Junior) Smith of Kinross; three sons: David Lockey of Phoenix Ariz., Gordon (Cindy) Lockey of Nashua and Mark (Cecile) Lockey of Gilbert, Ariz.; three grandchildren: Joshua Lockey, Cliff Lockey and Marcelle Lockey; sister, Arvana Boyd of Charles City; two brothers: Dale Lockey of Swan and Donald Lockey of San Jose, Calif.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell; and four sisters: Bernadine Michael, Martha Simerson, Eleanor Klinkel and Evelyn Roethler.

Joe Allan Hart

April 19, 1954 - Aug. 27, 2013

Joe A. Hart, 59, of Charles City, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Joe Hart will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home Friday and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Joe Allan Hart was born April 19, 1954, in Charles City the son of William and Frieda (Bill) Hart. He received his education in Charles City graduating from Charles City High School in 1972. After graduation, Joe started working at White Farm until 1983. Then he began working at Armour-Eckrich in Mason City until 2009.

On June 1, 1974, Joe was united in marriage to Shari Derr. The couple made their home in Charles City and raised their family in the home built by Joe and his father. Joe was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

His interests included years of fishing with family and friends at various places in Minnesota and Canada, tending to his lawn and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed motorcycling and for many years he held the record for the quarter mile in the state of Iowa. Joe loved spending time with family, his dog Murphy and enjoyed his morning and afternoon McDonald's and Dave's coffee groups.

Living family members include his wife of 39 years, Shari of Charles City; two sons: Rob (Kathy) Hart of Council Bluffs and Tracy Hart of Iowa City; granddaughter, Abby Hart; mother, Frieda Hart of Charles City; two brothers: Mike (Charnel) Hart of Tiffin and Jim (Ruth) Hart of Farmington, Minn.; sister, Teresa (Ed) Hobert of Charles City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William; niece, Brieha Hart; father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Hazel Derr; and brother-in-law, Harlan Derr.

Beverly Jean (Snavely) Feltz

Beverly Feltz, 74, of Charles City, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Private graveside services will be held Tuesday.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Beverly Jean Snavely Feltz was born November 6, 1938, at Charles City, the daughter of Floyd and Florie (Martin) Snavely. She received much of her education at Charles City but graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1956. On November 21, 1964, she was united in marriage to Stanley "Ole" Feltz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union a daughter Nancy and two sons, Mark and Brent were born. Beverly retired from the Floyd County Medical Center after 30 years of service working as an aide, ward clerk and pharmacy technician.

She loved all types of music with other interests including ceramics, huck weaving, knitting and crocheting. Beverly enjoyed going places with her family and friends such as camping and to plays, concerts and going to the casino. Living family members include three children, Nancy (Robert) Zeien of New Hampton; Mark Feltz of New Hampton and Brent Feltz of Charles City; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Harvey (Ruth) Snavely of Mt. Pleasant; a sister Janet (Tim) Granger of Iowa, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, Floyd and Irma Snavely and John and Florie Healey; husband; and a brother, James Snavely.
