Margaret Mae (DeBettignies) Cero

Margaret Mae Cero, 82 of Charles City passed away on Friday March 16, 2013, at her home in Charles City. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Father Carl Ries officiating.

Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.

Margaret Mae DeBettignies was born on April 7, 1930, to John and Margaret DeBettignies. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Cero on August 3, 1950, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton. In 1960, Margaret began working for Belmond Manufacturing in Charles City. She was employed as a CNA for 9th Street Chautauqua Nursing Home from 1983 to 1993 and later went to work as an in home health care provider. Margaret spent many hours providing care to others in the community.

Although she enjoyed working outside her home, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Margaret "Girlie" thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. She was easy to please and enjoyed the simple things in life.

She is survived by her children; Mila (Lyle) Bunston, John (Mary) Cero, both of Humboldt; Diane Bilharz of Nashua; Lori Cero and James Cero, both of Charles City; grandchildren; Brandon Bunston (Meghan Smidt), Abby (Kyle) Greenlee, Steven (Briana) Cero, Katie Davis(Jeff Feaster), Christine (Frank) Valenzuela, Michelle (Paul) Jones, Michael (Tabitha) Caswell, Cody Bilharz, Maggie Hoy and Amy(Wes) Waechter; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Arlene VanKleek of Denver, Colorado.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband William Cero, parents, siblings, and grandson Jesse William Cero in 2006.

Nora Springs, Iowa - Craig W. Fingalsen, 50, of Nora Springs, died Monday, March 25, 2013, in Larado, Texas.

Nora Springs, Iowa - Craig W. Fingalsen, 50, of Nora Springs, died Monday, March 25, 2013, in Laredo, Texas.

Craig W. Fingalsen, son of Gary and Jaqueline Swanson Fingalsen, was born December 12, 1962, in Mason City. He graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1981 and enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Craig worked for many years as a semi-truck driver and was working for Hueneman Farms at the time of his death.

Craig's pride and joy was his daughter, Keely. From the time she was born he called her "Schatzi" which means sweetheart in German. Craig enjoyed playing cards, in particular, he loved a good game of Cribbage. He enjoyed golfing in the summer months with "Schatzi" and in years past enjoyed snowmobiling. Craig lived and laughed hard. His infectious smile will be missed deeply by all of his family and friends.

He will be missed by his daughter, Keely Fingalsen of Rock Falls; siblings, Randy (Linda) Fingalsen of Downington, Pa., Todd (Susan) Fingalsen of Nora Springs, Melissa (Mark) Johnson of Grinnell, and Bob (Monica) Klinke of Oak Park, Ill.; stepmother, Lois (Ron) Juenger of Carpenter, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Geraldine Mary "Gerry" Childs

Geraldine "Gerry" Mary Childs, 79, of Charles City passed away on April 3, 2013, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.fullertonfh.com.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8, at Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Milwaukee St., Charles City. Reverend Robbins will be officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, at Calvary Baptist Church.

Gerry Childs was born on February 17, 1934, to Arnold and Anne (Benson) Schilling in Minneapolis, Minn. She grew up in the New Hampton area, where her father opened his own greenhouse. Gerry graduated from New Hampton High School. On Nov. 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Howard "Keith" Childs. To this union, three children were born. Together they raised their family and lived on a farm outside of Charles City. Gerry spent most of her life as a housewife.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Charles City Writers Club. Gerry was an avid reader and liked listening to Johnny Cash. She also enjoyed collecting teapots and gardening. Gerry was an excellent cook and baker; especially when it came to her famous beef and noodles, salad dressing cake, and cinnamon rolls. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family. Gerry passed peacefully surrounded by her family after a longtime battle with complications from cancer treatments.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years, Keith Childs; children, Marcy (Clair) Bean, Wade (Cindy) Childs, and Wylie (Diana) Childs; sisters, Jeanette Stolen and Joyce Hagan; grandchildren, Wayland (Darla) Bean, Derrick (Cassie) Bean, Seth Bean, Elizabeth (Jake) Schaefer, Isaac Childs, Ricardo Guzman, Oscar Guzman, Brittany Childs, Jared Childs, Brandon Childs, and Anthony Childs; great-grandchildren, Erica Bean, Sophie Guzman, Randy Johnson Jr., and baby great-grandson-to-be.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Doris Darlene Davis

Doris Darlene Davis, age 77, of Nashua, passed away April 2, 2013, at the 11th St. Chautauqua Nursing Home in Charles City, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday April 5, at St. John Lutheran Church, Nashua with Rev. Alan Schulz presiding. Interment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua.

Friends may greet the family 4-6 p.m. Thursday April 4, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Doris Darlene Davis was born in Worth Co., Iowa, in the Grafton area, on March 10, 1936.

She was the daughter of Clarence and Amelia Schultz (Walk). She received her education in Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1953. On Feb. 14, 1954, she married Robert "Bob" Davis of rural Grafton/Plymouth. The couple made their first home in the Carpenter/Northwood area, on a farm. In their union, four children were born to them: Douglas Lee, Donald Thomas, Doreen Renee and Darla Rochelle.

In Doris' time, she enjoyed her family, grandkids, and loved to prepare good ol' fashioned home cooked meals. Doris loved her sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilts, bedspreads, needlepoint sewing or whatever her hands felt busy to create. She loved the outdoors and had a passion for gardening, for which she kept the family supplied with fresh, canned, or frozen veggies. She also enjoyed the Big 4 County Fair, which she entered ceramics, sewing, canned, and baked items. Winning her 5 trophies! She was a very active member of St. John Lutheran Church with choir and was the secretary of the Rebecca Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Bob, of Nashua. Two sons: Douglas (Cindy) Davis of Aurelia, and Donald Davis of Ionia, Two daughters: Doreen (Kraig) Baldwin of Tripoli, and Darla (Jeff) Beckner of Waverly. Three grandsons: Jason Davis, Eric Davis, and Phillip Baldwin. Three granddaughters: Melissa (Chad) Stambaugh, Chelsea Beckner, and Megan Baldwin. Great-granddaughters: Haylie and Anna Stambaugh and greatgrandson, Hudson Davis. Two brothers: Dale and Allen Schultz of Grafton along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Russell Schultz, and one sister, Arlene Sletten.

Hildegard Martha Glomsda Ennen was born May 25, 1922, at Herzogskirchen, Germany, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Joswig) Glomsda. She received her education in Germany, attending trade school for retail clothing. On October 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Friedrich Ennen in Germany. They came to the United States in 1952 making their home in Greene and moving to Charles City in 1969. Over the years Hildegard worked at Red Owl and Saxony. Hildegard was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a part of various activities of the church, Moose Lodge, YMCA and German Club. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards with her friends, was an excellent seamstress and relished preparing German food. Hildegard will be remembered for her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Living family members include six children, Monika (Robert) Teeple of Greene, Erika (Thomas) Ennen of Oro Valley, Ariz., Jurgen (Marlene) Ennen of Homestead, Werner (Marian) Ennen of Eau Claire, Wisc. and Manfred (Kathy) Ennen of Raymond; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister in Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Oswald Glomsda.

Joanne Kathryn (Sisson) Blong

Joanne Kathryn Sisson Blong was born November 9, 1936, at Charles City, the daughter of William and Ruth (Beck) Sisson. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1955.

A marriage of 33 years began on September 22, 1977, to Terrance Blong.

Joanne was co-owner of Blong's Custom Wood Products. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her interests included flower and vegetable gardening, bird watching, home decorating, playing cards, going to casinos, and traveling. Joanne's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest interest and she looked forward to times when she could share her life with them.

Living family members include three children, Mike (Jayne) Blong of New Zealand, Julie (Richard) Beine and Tim (Kaye) Blong both of Charles City; four grandchildren, Jessica (Robby) Jones, Becky (Matt) Molitor, Tyler Blong and Courtney Blong; four great-grandchildren, Devin Jones, Ella Jones, Ava Molitor and Olivia Molitor; a brother, Darrell (Marge) Sisson of Aitkin, Minnesota; special nieces and nephew; and special friends, Judy and Gene Milhan.

Ruth E. Jespersen, 85 of Nashua, Iowa, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

Ruth E. Jespersen

Ruth E. Jespersen age 85 of Nashua, died Saturday April 6, 2013, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the United Methodist Church, Nashua with Rev. Okitakoyi Lundula presiding. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. With Scott Jespersen, Sean Jespersen, Jack Schlomer, Jerry Pyle, Gene Smith and Gaylen Morris serving as pallbearers.

Online condolences for Ruth's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com Ruth Elaine Jespersen was born September 15, 1927, in Charles City, the daughter of Frank and Mae (Tolle) Pyle. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1945. Ruth then traveled to Ohio where she was certified to work in civil service.

After completing the program she acquired a job at an Air Force base in Oakland, Calif. During her time there she met Jess Jespersen and they were married on March 2, 1947, in Carson City, Nevada.

After getting married, the couple moved to the Seattle area. To this union one son, David was born. After a year in Seattle, the family packed up everything and moved to Nashua where Jess ran a trucking feed grinding business. Ruth Elaine answered phones and dispatched the trucks for the company.

Ruth enjoyed going on trips in their motorhome and always looked forward to taking a new trip to a new destination. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Nashua.

Survivors include one son, David and special friend Pam Litzle of Nashua; two grandsons, Scott (Jill) Jespersen of North Liberty, Sean (Jen) Jespersen of Nyssa, Ore.; one granddaughter, Megan Jespersen of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Marlene Batog of Moline, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jess (2005).

Dorothy May (Hannam) Bennett

Date Of Death: April 10, 2013

Dorothy Bennett, 91, of Charles City, died Wednesday April 10, 2013, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Dorothy Bennett will be held 1.30 p.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Gordon Berryman of Howardville Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

The family will greet friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Dorothy May Hannam Bennett was born January 18, 1922, at Maywood, Illinois, the daughter of James and Ethel (Erickson) Hannam. In 1940 she graduated from Osage Community School. On August 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Bennett at Osage. In her early years she worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell in Osage and then worked with her husband in the farming operation.

Dorothy was a member of Howardville Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday School, had served on the Local Board of Administration, was active in the Wesleyan Women and known as the "craft lady" for Bible School. She liked crafting, looked forward to entertaining and having fellowship with family and friends.

Living family members include several nieces and nephews; and great- nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth on June 28, 1987; four brothers, Herbert, James, Robert and Arthur Hannam; and four sisters, Isabell Tylman, Elizabeth Swanson, Helen Johnson and Alice Hall.

Mildred E. Lore

Mildred E. Lore age 86 of Nashua died Monday, April 8, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua, with Rev. Paul Pickar presiding.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua with Brandon Harvey, Jeff Anderson, Tim Barnard, Jonathan Lore, John Patterson and Isaac Alexander serving as pallbearers. Following the graveside service friends and family are invited to a luncheon at the United Church of Christ, Ionia.

She attended the Brown Country School and the Ionia Public HighSchool. After school Mildred worked in Charles City at a drugstore/ soda shop.

She was married to Clayton Lore at The Little Brown Church on April 7, 1946. To this union three children were born.

The couple lived and worked on the family farm. Mildred was always helping on the farm whether it was milking cows, bailing hay, picking rock, or anything else that needed done. She enjoyed gardening and had a large patch of strawberries and melons. She would sell her produce from the house.

Mildred enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and fishing. She cherished spending time with her children and all of her grandkids.

She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Ionia working church suppers and helping anyway she could.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Charles (Elaine) Lore of Decorah, Gary (Joan) Lore of Nashua; one daughter, Joye (Harold) Lore-Lawson of Bloomfield; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, three brothers, John Lampson of Charles City, Wendell Lampson of Ionia, Glen Huffman of Evansdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clayton (1998); four brothers, Harold Huffman, Harvey Huffman, Charles Lampson, Russell Lampson; two sisters, Nina Smith and Ethel Diesburg.

Memorials may be directed towards The University of Iowa Children's Hospital Dance Marathon.

Georgia Eunice (Stewart) Field

Birth: March 5,1916
Death: April 11, 2013

Eunice Field, 97, of Charles City, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Funeral services for Eunice Field will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Martha Bennett of Grace United Methodist in Floyd, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday an hour prior to the service.

Georgia Eunice Stewart Field was born March 5, 1916, at Floyd, the daughter of George and Emma (Colson) Stewart. In 1933 she graduated from Floyd High School. On February 19, 1934, she was united in marriage to Harry "Doc" Field at St. Paul, Minn. To this union six children, Roger, Pat, Judy, Ginger, Eddie and Kenny were born. Eunice and Doc lived in Floyd County and farmed, raising livestock and turkeys. In 1967 they moved to Harpers Ferry and owned and operated a marina until Doc's death in 1984. In 1989 she moved to Charles City and resided in her home for 19 years and then at Apple Valley Assisted Living for nearly four years.

Eunice was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed and cherished all the times and gatherings spent together including playing cards with family and friends. Eunice always looked forward to sharing her life with her family and creating life experiences with them. She will be remembered for her faith, strength, friendship, kindness and love of family and will be greatly missed by all.

Living family members include four children, Pat (Deryl) Swedberg of Lancaster, Missouri, Ginger Shipman of Nora Springs, Eddie Field of Charles City and Kenny Field of Mason City; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Field of Charles City; 23 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children, Roger Field and Judy Schilling; three grandchildren, Michael Schilling, Robin Rosson and Dean Swedberg; two great-grandsons, Dean Boyd and Dakota Swedberg; two sons-in-law, Ron Shipman and Bob Schilling; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Field; three sisters; and five brothers.

On March 24, 2011 she was united in marriage to Michcal Leslie in New Hampton. Melisa enjoyed playing on the computer, crosswords, search and finds, frogs, dragons, and wolves. She will be remembered for her fond love of Tweety Bird, and her absolute love for her family.

Florence Helen (Robertson) Kelly

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Florence H. Kelly, 94, of Nora Springs died Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the Christian Church, 102 North Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with Pastor Glen E. Bandel officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Grove Cemetery, rural Nora Springs.

A public viewing will be held Wednesday evening, April 17, from 5-7 p.m. at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, and will resume one hour prior to Florence's service at the church.

Florence Helen Robertson was born on October 20, 1918, in Floyd County, the daughter of Edwin L. and Eslie (Scofield) Robertson. She attended and graduated from Nora Springs High School.

In July of 1936, Florence was united in marriage to John Clifford Kelly in Nora Springs, this union would be blessed with four children: Frances, John, Thomas, and Anthony. For 25 years, Florence worked as a seamstress for Mode-O-Day in Mason City until her retirement in 1983. She was active within the Amalgamated Lady Garment Workers Union as shop steward, vice president and president of the local.

Throughout the years Florence enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and crocheting, she crocheted afghans for all of her grandchildren and receiving blankets for her great-grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time outdoors.

Florence cherished the time spent with her family and her beloved Toy Poodle, Buddy. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church in Nora Springs.

Those grateful in sharing in her life are her children, Frances (Jesse) Herrera, Carnation, Washington, John (Shirley) Kelly, Charles City, Thomas Kelly, Nora Springs, and Anthony Kelly and Frank Morgan, Smithtown, New York; grandchildren, Teri Herrera, Jeff (Karen) Herrera, Pamela (John) Tucker, Patricia (Jeff) Cash, Brett (Kathy) Kelly, Bryan (Christine) Kelly, Blaine (Ginny) Kelly, Cynthia Kelly, Kyle (Laura) Kelly, and Mykayla Wilson; 18 great-grandchildren; brotherin- law, Eugene LaCoste; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

Mary Ann Fisher was born on Oct. 16, 1934, in Cresco to Calvin and Velma (Bestor) Ruesink. She grew up in Greanlefton, Minnesota. When she was a little girl she would ride the bus from Preston, Minnesota, to Rochester, Minnesota, to stay with her Aunt Viva. On June 25, 1952, in Greanlefton, Minnesota, she was united in marriage to Charles Fisher. To this union, 11 children were born. Mary Ann spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She always put her children's needs first. Family was very important to her. She cherished the ring her grandma Bestor bought her for taking in eggs. She enjoyed animals such as deer, birds, goats, and her donkey. Her pets were Sammy the sheep, Skeeter the horse, and a few dogs.

Mary Ann also loved spending time with her grandchildren. She always knew how to make others smile. One of her favorite hobbies was going dancing with her husband; which is how they met. Her favorite music was anything country. Mary Ann will be remembered as a caring and compassionate mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

She is survived by her nine children, Charlene Fisher of Ionia, Kevin Fisher of Wichita, Kan., Darwin (Rita) Fisher of New Hampton, Dale Fisher and Sheri Hansen of Charles City, Larry Fisher of Faribault, Minn., Lori (Mike) Fisher Kuykendall of Floyd, Randy Fisher of Ionia, DeeEtta (Felix) Alberto of Charles City, and Tiffaney Fisher of Waterloo; three sisters, Sharon Bonwell, Virginia Young, and Jean Flynn; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren on the way; and many other family members.

"Keller" Montgomery on September 16, 1926 on a farm in rural Bremer County near Waverly. She is the last of four children. She graduated with the class of 1946 from Waverly High School. She first was employed as a waitress at Roy's Place in Waverly but then went on a blind date and soon fell in love with her future husband Warren. They met during the war while he was on leave and corresponded over the next several years until his discharge. They were united in marriage on August 11, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union was born two sons. For all of her life they were residents of Charles City except for two years when they were in Wisconsin.

Evelyn was employed in the payroll department of the Oliver plant, as a desk clerk at the Lamplighter Motel and finished her careers in 1989 at Kmart, after 11 years working there. Evelyn was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of Trinity Shepherds and the UMW. She also served as a Den Mother for her son's Cub Scout troop and was a caregiver for many children.

Evelyn and Warren loved to travel and some of their favorite places were Lake Pepin, Minnesota, Colorado, and several trips to Tucson, Arizona, to visit with their son while he lived there. She loved music and played the accordion in her early years, did handwork, made religious bookmarks, and was a fanatic Hawkeye fan. Being a cancer survivor, she was often a worker and participant in the Relay for Life.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Warren, just three short months of their 67th anniversary. She also leaves behind her two sons Jerald and his wife Marlene of Nashua, Allan and his wife Patricia of Golden Valley, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Jaclyn Nott, Erin Nott, Josefina Nott, Michael Nott, Esperanza Nott, Brent Brunner, Alissa (Darren) Pfannebecker, and Jared (Valerie) Brunner; nine great grandchildren, Alma, Ciara, Alan, Hana, Ava, Ian, Mason, Dylon, and Emmylou.

Her parents, an infant sister, her sister Eleanor Baumgartner, and brother Eldon Montgomery preceded Evelyn in death.

Joan "McCauley" White

Joan "McCauley" White, age 85, died Sunday March 10, 2013, at the Broadmore Nursing Home in Lockport, La. She was born April 1, 1927, in Charles City to Joe and Ruth McCauley, and worked at White Farm for many years.

A cremation memorial service was held March 14, in Raceland, Louisiana.

A memorial service will be held in Charles City at a later date.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine White and Mary (Toby) Chaubin. A son-in-law, Bruce Harrold. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One brother, Eugene McCauley and two sisters, Marlene Harris and Janet Zubrod.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Ruth McCauley, her husband Harold White and Don Molitor and her daughter Michelle Harrold.

Duane Henry Robbins was born August 12, 1947, at Waterloo, the son of Lloyd and Arlene (Boldt) Robbins. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1967. Duane served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On July 17, 1971, he was united in marriage to Christine Boyd. For many years he worked at TriMark in New Hampton, and was also a part-time farmer. Duane was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and riding his own lawnmower.

Living family members include his wife Christine "Chris" Robbins of Charles City; children Michelle Rocheleau and significant other Craig Nelson of Rockwell, Rick Robbins and significant other Tammy Gillespie of Charles City; 13 grandchildren, Dylan, Zachary, Riley, Darin, Cody, Katie, Cassandra, Caitlyn, Derrick, Courtney, Damien, Leah, and Aden; a sister Cathy Jenn of New Hampton, and a brother Lloyd (Janice) Robbins of Ionia.

Norman "Jim" Watson

Norman "Jim" Watson, 88, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. Per Norman's request, no services are being planned at this time.

Norman Clinton Watson was born July 17, 1924, in Nashua, the son of Everett and Iris (Orsborn) Watson. He graduated from Nashua High School. In April 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in World War II, and was honorably discharged in January 1946. Norman was a Medical Aidman serving in the Southern Philippines with honors including: Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead, PurpleHeart, Bronze Star Medal, and Philippines Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars.

On Oct. 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Shultz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, making Charles City their home. After his military service he worked for 36 years at White Farm Equipment Company in Charles City, retiring in 1981. Norman was a member of the VFW, Elks Club, Wildwood Golf Course and Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. His passionate love for golf allowed him to spend almost every day on the course with his golf buddies. He also enjoyed fishing, spending summers at Holiday Lake, watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, reading, going to various car races and in his early years riding motorcycles. Most of all, Norman enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Left to celebrate Norman's life include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy "Dot" Watson of Charles City; two sons, Doug and family from North Carolina, and Dave (Jacquie) of Charles City; three grandchildren, Gretchen (Mark) Mathison of Durham, N.C., Nathan (Wendy) Watson of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Jodi Watson (Mike Mc-Grath) of Chicago, Ill; five great-grandchildren, Miller, Gray, and Everett Mathison, Porter Watson, and Matt Rhodes; four siblings, Clinton Watson, Edna Schanfeld, Irma Joerger, and Georgia Potter.

Major Jeff Scott Davis USAF (Ret.)

Jeff Davis passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the age of 50. after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Sumner on Aug. 14, 1962, to George and Sharon Davis. He grew up in Eldora, graduating from high school in 1980.

Jeff attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He married Kelly Ann Carlson in 1985 and together they had two children - Brooke Nicole and Austin James. Jeff spent 10 years enlisted in the Air Force with his first duty station at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Neb., and then moving on to Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas. After graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Mc-Murry University in Abilene he applied for an was accepted into Officer Training School.

Following graduation from OTS, he was stationed for four years in California at Beale AFB, Vandenburg AFB - where he completed Space and Missile Training - and Onizuka Air Station. He then applied for and was accepted at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB, graduating with a masters in science degree. This was followed by a move to Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs where he retired from the Air Force in 2004 with the rank of Major. Jeff was immediately hired as a space systems engineer by Scitor Corporation, where he worked until his death.

In his spare time, Jeff enjoyed watching and playing hockey, camping, hiking and long bike rides with his family.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Kelly, children Brooke and Austin, his parents Sharon McBride or Eldora and George (Vicki) Davis of Charles City, sisters Liz (Terry) Barnes of State Center, Debbie (Glen) Howard of Henderson, Nev., Chasity (Joe) Cook of Charles City, and brothers Joe of Charles City and Michael of Sumter, S.C.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family in support of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Bald Island Conservancy or National Mill DogRescue of Colorado Springs.

On August 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Joseph Linkenmeyer at Saint Bonifas Church in Ionia. Theresa was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, and crocheting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Virgil Glenn Heitz

Virgil G. Heitz, 59, of Lees Summit, Missouri, passed away April 15, 2013. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri. Virgil was born November 19, 1953, the son of Glenn and Darlene Heitz, in Charles City, Iowa. He graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and from the Baptist Hospital Respiratory Care Program. Virgil worked as a Respiratory Therapist at area hospitals. He began working at Trinity Lutheran Hospital, where he met and worked with his wife, Linda and her mother, Maurine. He worked at Trinity for 20 years. While at Trinity Hospital, Virgil also worked with patients at Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City.

He later worked as director of the department for Overland Park Regional Hospital and Menorah Medical Center. He touched the lives of many people and patients throughout his professional career. He was a great teacher and mentor to other Respiratory Therapists in the area.

His children, Derek and Monica, will always be with Virgil's spirit. He loved and cherished them more than we can know. Virgil was closest to heaven when on a stream fly fishing; it was a spiritual time for him. Virgil is finally at peace. He was a wonderful person who touched many lives with his gentle spirit and unmatched wit. He was a great teacher, mentor, father, and husband who will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Violet Victoria Lien was born July 11, 1919, with her identical twin sister, Viola, to Albert and Mayme (Severtson) Davidson in Nevus, Minn. Her father was a carpenter and ran a hotel. She was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevus. The family later moved to a farm near Kiester, Minn. Vi went to country school near Kiester through the eighth grade.

Violet was married April 24, 1941, to her sweetheart Kenneth Lien at Lime Creek Lutheran Church near Emmons, Minn., one week before Ken left for the Army. She lived with her sister and family in Zanesville, Ohio, when Ken was in the army and worked at the Ball jar factory there.

After Ken was honorably discharged from the service, they lived in Lake Mills, later moving to Ute, and Northwood, Iowa, where Ken worked for the local newspapers.

In 1961 they bought the Rockford Register in Rockford, where Vi worked with Ken at the newspaper until their retirement.

In July of 2011 they moved to the Summit Heights Assisted Living and in January of 2012 they moved to the Nora Springs Care Center.

They enjoyed traveling with friends and family and had been in every state in the U.S.

Violet enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, woodcarving, square dancing, camping and going to casinos. She also enjoyed collecting owls in every size or shape and her owl collection grew to over 500.

She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford where she also enjoyed quilting and church circle. She was a member of the local craft club, square dance club, camping club and mother's club. She was also a Cub Scout den mother.

She is survived by her husband, Ken, together three days short of 72 years; two daughters: Pam and David Meyer, Manly, Dee and Shawn Feltus, Rockford; three sons: Kevin and JoAnna Lien, Hanlontown, Todd and Janette Lien and Eric and Judy Lien, Rockford; grandchildren, Betsy and Jeff Fliger, Ankeny, Brad and Rachel Meyer, Manly, RaNae and Aaron Anderson, Forest City, April and Josh Eggers, Stone City, Krystal Lien and Jared TeBrockhorst, Cedar Rapids, Nathan and Susan Lien, St. Charles, Minn., Megan Lien, Rockford, Amber and Brian Jacobs, Alden, Minn., Montica and Jake Foxen, Parkersburg, Jayson and Jenn Speakar, Floyd; three sisters-in-law: Eilene Davidson, Kay and Jim Lester and Dorothy Lien; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; grandson, Thomas Lynn Lien; her parents; four sisters and their spouses: Rhyna and Charles Barnes, Gladys and Earl Pritchett, Viola and Gilman Turvold and Myrtle and Ansel Jacobson; three brothers: Clifford ( Lucille) Davidson, Keith Davidson, and Lloyd Davidson; Ken's brothers, sister and their spouses, Agnes and Elmer Johnson, Melvin and Marg Lien, Orvil and Galya Lien, Stanley and Ester Lien, "Ace" Evenson; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert P. Welter age 79 of Nashua died Monday, April 21, 2013, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Robert "Bud" P. Welter was born September 21, 1933, in Ottosen, the son of Celestin and Opal (Wood) Welter. He received his education in Nashua. Bud married his wife, Dorothy Hartman, on June 8, 1951, at the Little Brown Church. To this union three children were born.

Bud worked at Hydrotile for many years. He also helped farm the family farm with his father. He also served on the Nashua city council, and served as the Mayor of Nashua for two terms. He later worked at Featherlite until his health made it no longer possible.

Bud enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. One of his favorite things to do was watch football on Sundays with his whole family.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three children, Duane (Glenda) Welter of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Dawn (Dennis) Johnston of Nashua; DeAnn Crabtree (Jeff McFarland) of Charles City; eleven grandchildren, Bryan Welter, Amy Edgeworth, Matthew Welter, Amanda Appel, Joshua Appel, Colton Appel, Elizabeth Appel, Austin Crabtree, Dustin Crabtree, Justin Crabtree, Faith Crabtree; five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one brother Roger Welter of Oak Park, Minn.

Sharon Noe was born on October 9, 1935, to George and Violet (Novak) Nelson in Charles City, Iowa. She is from Rudd, originally, but also lived in California, Mason City and Kansas. Sharon was blessed with having found love three times in her life with Eldon Noling, Albert Noe and Tom Nash, who all preceded her in death.

Throughout her life she worked several different jobs. At a young age she was a telephone operator in Rudd. Sharon also worked at several different hotels such as the Holiday Inn and Hanford Inn, waitressing and bartending. She was very proud of the job she had driving semi.

When she wasn't working she spent her free time volunteering. Sharon was a regular at the nursing homes where she played the keyboard and sang for entertainment. She would bring her grandchildren along to sing for the residents. Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren. She made them blankets and picture books with newspaper clippings. When the grandchildren visited she always made sure that they helped with planting flowers, especially her favorite which were yellow roses.

She enjoyed couponing and set aside necessary items for her grandchildren to give at Christmas time. Sharon spent the past two years of her life at Heritage Care Center, which became her home. She was known for giving out bags of candy to children and treats to fellow resident's dogs when they came in to visit. Her personality was very friendly.

Sharon will be remembered for her wonderful cooking such as homemade apple pie, chocolate cake, and chicken and dumplings. She will also be remembered for her beautiful yard which included her gardens and yellow roses. Last but not least, she will be remembered for the caring and loving person that she was.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Reginald Noling and Rebecca Noling; sister, Sandra Johnson; grandchildren, Shawn (Lisa) Noling, Justice (Ashley) Noling, Krystal (Rafael) Rivera, Dennis (Lara) Shepherd, Casey (Amanda) Kennedy, Caley (Ashely) Kennedy, Corey Moore, and Colby Moore; honorary grandchildren, Savanna Jo, Dylon, and Joshua Collings and Lyndsay (Tucker Reams), Robert, Justin, and Peanut Frazer; great-grandchildren, Michael Noling, Brianna Noling, Carter Noling, Cayden Noling, Piper Noling, Emmylee Rivera, Benjamin Rivera, Rafael Rivera III, Marcos Rivera, Angelita Rivera, Jayce Shepherd, Alexandra Kennedy, and Tresaun Kennedy; cousins, Michelle Collings, Kathy Frazer, and Michael (Stacey) Frazer; niece, Jessica Johnson; great-nieces, Jasmin Johnson, Joslyn Johnson, and Danielle Locke; great-nephew, Durell Locke Jr.; and many other family and friends.

Linda M. Schlader

Linda M. Schlader, 54, of Rockford, Iowa, passed away on April 24, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Center in Mason City, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, from 4-7 p.m. at the Nora Springs Community Center in Nora Springs, Iowa. A celebration of life and inurnment, with family, will be held at a later date at Owen's Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Shriners Children's Hospital directed to the Linda Schlader memorial fund. Send to El Kahir Shrine at 1400 Blairs Ferry Road, Cedar Rapids, IA, 50402. Checks should be made out to Shriners Hospital for Children in care of Roger Donegan.

Linda was born April 11, 1959, in Mason City to Derald and Leona (Dow) Hoel. She was welcomed home by three brothers, Ron, Randy and Gary. She grew up in Nora Springs, where she attended school.

Linda was united in marriage to Steve Schlader on Jan. 10, 2006, and they resided on their farm outside of Rockford. She worked for many years at the Best Western/Bennigans in Clear Lake and was a very loyal employee.

Linda loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, Paige, Cayle and Callen. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers on the farm, entertaining family, playing cards with friends and traveling with her husband. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Linda's family would like to sincerely thank Justyn Fox, who helped care for her and who became part of the family. We also want to thank all the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center and the Cancer Center of North Iowa in Mason City, the staff at Hospice of North Iowa, Dr. Lisa Kies, Father Kenneth Gehling, Pastors David and Kris Toyne, and Pastor Wendy Johannesen. Thank you to the management and staff of the Best Western/Bennigans in Clear Lake, and all of the many family and friends who have provided support, prayers and love. Margaret L. Squier

Funeral services for Margaret L. Squier, 83, formerly of Rockford, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Third Street NW, Rockford, Iowa with Pastor Judy Wooton officiating.

Margaret L. Squier was born on February 1, 1929, in Bassett, Iowa, the middle of five children born to David and Lydia (Schoonver) Gagnon and passed away on December 16, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines of heart complications.

Margaret was cremated at her request. The family moved to Clear Lake when Margaret was a young child. She attended public schools graduating in 1947. Margaret worked at a grocery store while she attended school and following graduation. She was employed by the Marigold Dairies in Mason City as a bookkeeper where she met Ron. Margaret and Ron married in 1959. Margaret worked for Jack McNider, as his business secretary, until his death when she retired.

The couple moved to Ankeny to be closer to their daughter, Marcia. Margaret and Ron went to many Navy reunions and trapping conventions both at the State and National level. Margaret enjoyed her AHEPA apartment friends, church friends, the monthly get together of the "girl's of 47," and their many trapping gang friends nation wide.

Margaret had a great memory for names, birthdays and dates.

She is survived by her husband Ron; daughter, Marcia and granddaughter, Danielle all of Ankeny; a brother, Dave and his wife Loreen of Clear Lake; many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Ronda, in 1996; her parents; one brother, Henry; two sisters: Mary (Ed) Purcel and Lucy Ingham.

Doris Arlene Taylor Edwards was born on July 30, 1922, in Marble Rock, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Marie (Tack) Taylor and died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

She received her education in the public schools graduating from Marble Rock High School. She attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Doris then taught country school in Floyd County.

On December 3, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to Dean Ellis Edwards in her parent's home in Marble Rock. This union was blessed with three children, Sandra, Dennis and Steve. They farmed and raised their family in the Dougherty area where she was active in the EUB Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and served as a 4-H leader. They moved to Greene in 1970 and became active members of the First Presbyterian Church.

Doris loved the outdoors, flowers and nature, she was a wonderful cook and did not need a recipe. She devoted most of her life to caring for her family. Doris was an extraordinary person who loved to please people and brighten their days. Her greatest love, however, was her grandchildren. She loved to play with them bringing joy and laughter to their little lives.

Living Family members include her Husband, Dean of 69 years, children: Sandra (Dale) Hefner of Amarillo, Texas, Dennis (Jolene) Edwards and Steve (Rose) Edwards both of Greene; seven grandchildren: Jason (Rachelle) Setzer of Orlando, Florida, Danielle Duffel of Mesa, Arizona, Kristin (Shahram) Malek of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Julie (Jamie) Lubbert Canton, Missouri, Tony (Melissa) Edwards of Waterloo, Tami (Dan) Cline of Mason City, Traci (Nathan) Bartels of Greene; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Barb (Bob) Siemons and Ron (JoAnn) Taylor.

Rolland Ralph Cook was born November 12, 1927, at Charles City, the son of Ralph and Amanda (Erickson) Cook. He graduated in 1947 from Floyd High School. On May 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Joyce Buckner at Davenport. To this union six children were born. He started dairy farming on the Cook family farm in 1948 and in 1962 built the first picture window four stall milking parlor in Floyd County.

The Cook farm was a frequent field trip destination for the Charles City elementary school students. Rolland also drove a van for the Foster Grandparents for 10 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Midi's, Elks Lodge where he was voted Elk of the year and was a Foster Grandparent for several years. For 10 years he daily brought Meals on Wheels to the Cedar Terraces except for Christmas day. Also for many years he was Santa for the City of Charles City and the Elks Lodge having made the sleigh that he rode in. Rolland took pleasure in woodworking, carving, flower gardening, hunting, dog training and riding his bicycle. Family was always very important to Rolland and he took every opportunity to share his life with them. They will always remember how he looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas.

Living family members include his wife of 65 years, Joyce Cook of Charles City; six children, Nancy (Craig) Pogemiller of Charles City, Sharon (Mike) Garden of Osage, Gail (Tom) Rouse of Charles City, Mark Cook of Charles City, Gloria (Russ) Berns of Charles City and Julie (Les) Reynolds of Peoria, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; special friend, Mike Kloster; and beloved dog, Molly.

Rolland Ralph Cook was born Nov. 12, 1927, at Charles City, the son of Ralph and Amanda (Erickson) Cook. He graduated in 1947 from Floyd High School. On May 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Joyce Buckner at Davenport. To this union six children were born.

He started dairy farming on the Cook family farm in 1948 and in 1962 built the first picture window four stall milking parlor in Floyd County. The Cook farm was a frequent field trip destination for the Charles City elementary school students. Rolland also drove a van for the Foster Grandparents for 10 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Midi's, Elks Lodge where he was voted Elk of the year and was a Foster Grandparent for several years. For 10 years, he daily brought Meals on Wheels to the Cedar Terraces except for Christmas Day. Also for many years, he was Santa for the city of Charles City and the Elks Lodge having made the sleigh that he rode in. Rolland took pleasure in woodworking, carving, flower gardening, hunting, dog training and riding his bicycle. Family was always very important to Rolland and he took every opportunity to share his life with them. They will always remember how he looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas.

Living family members include his wife of 65 years, Joyce Cook of Charles City; six children, Nancy (Craig) Pogemiller of Charles City, Sharon (Mike) Garden of Osage, Gail (Tom) Rouse of Charles City, Mark Cook of Charles City, Gloria (Russ) Berns of Charles City and Julie (Les) Reynolds of Peoria, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; special friend, Mike Kloster; and beloved dog, Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and six sisters, Evelyn, Kathlyn, Evanell, Beverly, Carolyn and Marilyn; and a son-in-law, David Teeter.

Shirley Wygle

Shirley Wygle, age 73, of Ionia, Chickasaw county, Iowa,died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at her home of natural causes.

Shirley Ann Wygle, age 73, of Ionia was born the daughter of James and Frances (Gibbs) Chase on June 17, 1939, near Ackley. She attended Otto Country School near her home.

On Feb. 18, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage with Frank E. Wygle in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Following their marriage they lived in Waterloo for eight years, in Parkersburg from 1964 to 1979, and then moved to their present home near Ionia. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1996; one son, Timothy Wygle in 2007; her parents, James and Frances Chase; and one brother, Jimmy Chase.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Daniel (Cathy) Wygle of Steamboat Rock and Tony Wygle of New Hampton; three daughters, Linda (Charles) Mosher of Allison, Kathryn Wygle of Clarksville, and Shirley Marie (fiance, LaRico Harmon) Wygle of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Chase of Appleton, Wisconsin; five sisters, Sharon Stillions of Kingman, Arizona, Karen Wygle of Parkersburg, Mary (Wayne) Lockey of Waterloo, Ginger (Vince) Putney of Mooreland, Ga. and Pat Spencer of Sheridon, Wyoming.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 29, at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville with burial in Lowell Cemetery, rural Clarksville. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Sunday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, 319-278-4245 and will continue for one hour prior to services on Monday. Ralph Lloyd Milhan

Former Riceville area resident, Ralph Lloyd Milhan, 86, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Countryside Senior Living.

Military funeral honors were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel by Chaplain Steve Peters of the 185th Air Refueling Wing. Military graveside service by the U.S. Naval Reserves were held at Memorial Park cemetery in Sioux City.

Ralph was born on his Grandma Amelia Milhan's farm located southeast of Riceville on Feb. 26, 1927, the son of Arthur and Agnes (Bunston) Milhan. He attended Afton No. 2 country school near Acme. In 1944, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at Mason City, Iowa, and served in the South Pacific during World War II on board the warship USS Santa Fe. While attending Navy basic training, Ralph graduated from Farragut High School in Bayview, Idaho, and later in life, he attended Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz.

During World War II, Ralph served in Admiral "Bull" Halsey's Task Force 58 and for his service was awarded several medals and awards including the Asiatic Pacific Theater of War with four battle stars, a Presidential Unit Citation Medal, Occupation Medal with Clasp, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Medal, and a Korean War Medal. He also served in the U.S. Navy Security Police at Great Lakes Navy Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. He was then transferred to Norfolk, Va. with the Flagship of the 4th Marine Amphibious Combat, the USS Mt. McKinley. He served in the Mediterranean Sea Unit until he was honorably discharged Nov. 27, 1959.

On April 17, 1947, Ralph was united in marriage with Bernice June Starry in McIntire. They lived in McIntire, where they were blessed with two children, Margery and Roger. Ralph hauled coal and ice for a few years in McIntire and Riceville. In 1951-57, they lived in Charles City where Ralph worked at Oliver Corp and was a driver for Ready Mix. In 1957-59, the family lived in Zion, Ill. where Ralph was a police sergeant for the Zion Police Department. In 1959-60 , the family moved to Craddock, Virginia. In 1960, the family moved to Charles City where he drove a Curtis Candy truck on weekends and drove school bus. Ralph joined the Charles City police department and was a promoted to Lieutenant.

On October 24, 1972, Ralph married Martha (Inman) Rankin at Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived for a short time in Charles City and moved to Mesa, Arizona, where he was employed by a recreation motor vehicle center and was shop foreman and service writer. After retirement they moved to Sioux City, where he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, life member of Disabled Veterans, member of Grace United Methodist Church, Siouxland Senior Center, Northwest Iowa Wood Carvers, the Arizona Federation of Martial Arts, for which he holds a 1st degree Black Belt, and he taught Judo at the Mesa, Ariz. Y.M.C.A.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Martha Milhan of Sioux City; daughter, Margery (Larry) Leibold, of Humboldt; son, Roger (Debra) Milhan, of Mason City; adopted daughter, Sherri (Raymond) Ullrich of Dakota City; and four grandchildren, Randy (Mieka) Milhan, of Clear Lake, Wade Milhan, of Cass Lake, Minn, Bobbi Kay Milhan, of Mason City, Nicci Leibold, of Huntington Beach, Calif., Melissa Ullrich and Matthew Ullrich, both of Omaha; and three sisters, Leona Arndt, of Charles City, Esther Shoger, of Riceville, and Mary of Edgewood.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Milhan, and a sister, Anna Mae Marvin.

Vivian E. Symonds

Vivian E. Symonds, 84, of Nashua died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her home.

Vivian Ethel Symonds was born December 25, 1928, in Mason City, the daughter of William and Ethel (Lester) Cory. She attended school in Mason City. The family moved to Nashua in 1946. After moving to Nashua, Vivian met Gilbert Graeser. The couple was united in marriage in 1946. To this union five children were born. Gilbert passed away in 1963. Vivian was later introduced to Ralph Symonds and they were married in 1966.

Vivian retired from the Floyd County Memorial Hospital after 22 years working as a pharmacy technician. Vivian passed away at home following a brief battle with cancer.

Vivian is survived by her husband, Ralph; two sons, Les (Bianka) Graeser of Nashua, Cory (Partner Doug Perry) Graeser of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three daughters, Sheryl Smith of Bennett, Colorado, Gloria Cerwinske of De Soto, Wisconsin, Teresa Fisher of Nashua; thirteen grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert (1963), five brothers, Orie Cory, Charles Cory, James Cory, Glen Cory, and Harold Cory.

Felix Vispo, Sr.

Felix Vispo, Sr, 54, of Charles City, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home. There will be a 5 p.m. Rosary with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation will resume an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday.

Felix Vispo Senior was born January 14, 1959 in Batangas, Philippines, the son of Remegio and Maria Vispo. He graduated from High School in the Philippines, and studied Marine Engineering in college. He served the Philippine Army for 21 years with peace keeping missions to Indonesia and East Timor. On March 14, 1987 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Cayabyab at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the Philippines. He worked at Armour in Mason City for ten years. Felix enjoyed cooking, singing, exercising, cleaning, and spending time with his grandchildren, Khaylin and Adrian Anthony.

Felix was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Fil-Am Association. He will be remembered for doing anything you asked of him.

Living family members include his wife Cynthia Vispo; children Felix (Sherine) Vispo, Jr. and granddaughter Khaylin, and Marygold (VanAnthony) Miranda and grandson Adrian Anthony Miranda all of Charles City; Those in the Philippines, Jancille (Joel) Maala, and children Nica, Jimuel, Jerwyn; Jericel (Elisa) Vispo, and children Kim Jahred and Kate Vispo; and Jovelle (Elvin) Garing and child Yael Dominic Garing; seven siblings, one in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sibling.
