Joseph Biwer

 Funeral services for Joseph Biwer of Zumbrota, MN, will be held today at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota. Father Frank Wampach will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN, with Larson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at the Zumbrota Hospital.

William Joseph Biwer was born in Elma, IA, the son of William and Theresa Rosonke Biwer. He grew up in the Elma area and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1957.

He married Judy Stapleton on June 27, 1964, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They moved to Plainview, MN, for a time before moving to Pine Island. They then moved to Zumbrota in 1966 where he worked for People's Natural Gas. Later he bought the business from Oliver Beck in 1973 and named it The Plum'r Natural Gas. He sold his business in July, 1996, becuase of ill health.

William was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota, Zumbrota ambulance crew; Zumbrota Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; one son, Brian of Zumbrota; three daughters, Jodie Reed of Hartland; Kim Strusz of Owatonna; Kris of Zumbrota; three grandchildren; his mother, Theresa Biwer of Elma; one brother Dan Biwer of Elma; four sisters, Marie Biwer of Eau Clair, WI; Elaine Schmitz of Waterloo, IA; Dorothy Schmitz of Ionia, IA; and Rose Hickey of Byron.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Biwer.


Florence Woods

Florence "Mim" Woods, 93, formerly of Seattle, died March 2, 1997. She was a long time resident of Cresco and raised her family her.

She was survivied by her children, Bil, Thelma Tracey, Don "Ike", and Ron; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LaVErn Kelly and Alice Herold.

A family Rosary was held Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Beck's Funeral Home. in Edmonds, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; and one infant son Charles.

On June 27, 1964, he married Judy Stapleton at Immaculate Conception Catholic Chucrh. They lived in Plainview, MN, and Pine Island where he worked for People's Natural Gas. In 1973 he purchased a plumbing business.

He is survivied by his wife, Judy; one son, Brian of Zumbrota three daughters, Jodie Red of Hartland, Kim Strusz of Owatonna, and Kris of Zumbrota; three grandchildren; his mother Theresa Biwer of Elma; one brother, Dan of Elma; four sisters, Marie Biwer of Eau Clair, WI, Elaine Schmitz of Waterloo, Dorothy Schmitz of Ionia, Rose Hickey of Byron.

He was preceded in death by his father.
