Claude Hall

Claude E. Hall, 78, of Charles City, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City of natural causes.

Funeral services for Claude Hall will be held Thursday, February 7, 2002, at the Sunnyside Chapel, Charles City, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. A.C. Wegner officiating. Burial will take place in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home, and Thursday from noon until service time.

Claude E. Hall was born April 14, 1923, in Floyd County, the son of Henry and Rachel (Nelson) Hall. A veteran of World War II, where he served in the Army, Claude worked at Oliver/White Farm in Charles City for 34 years and belonged to the UAW of Charles City.

Living family members include a brother, Elmer Hall, and one sister, Opal Severin, both of Charles City;

He was preceded in death by four brothers: John, Earl, Raymond and George; four sisters: Goldie, Mabel and Lucy Hall, and Minnie Streich; and two half-brothers, Ervin and Mike Hall.

 Chayton Hunter

WINTHROP, MN - Chayton Hunter "The Fighter" Anderson a.k.a. "Mowgli" or "Smiley," age 21 months, of Winthrop, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, surrounded by his loving family and Jesus, at his home, in Winthrop, Minn.

Celebration services were Monday, February 18, 2002, at 10 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop, Minn. Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel of Winthrop handled the arrangements. A celebration of Chayton's life will be today, Feb. 19, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bradford Twp., Chickasaw Co., Iowa.

Chayton Hunter Anderson was born May 12, 2000, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital. He is the son of Darrell and Dawn (Kraft) Anderson.

Chayton was baptized on July 15, 2000, by Rev. Carol J. Christianson at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton.

Chayton was diagnosed with a Rhabdiod Tumor on July 18, 2001. He had his resection surgery at Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis on July 25, 2001. Following the recurrence of the tumor in September, Chayton and his parents went to Houston, Texas, for additional treatment in November of 2001. He came home to Winthrop, Minn., where he continued to fight.

Chayton loves his family with all his heart. He also loves his puppy, named "Puppy" and his other puppy, "Abby." Chayton also has fun playing ball and pretending to be a dinosaur. He touched the hearts of all who knew him and will always be remembered for his fighting spirit and his Clifford shoes.

Chayton was preceded in death by several of his Great-Grandparents.

Chayton is survived by parents, Darrell and Dawn Anderson of Winthrop, Minn., siblings, Nicole Anderson of Lafayette, Minn., Ashley Anderson and Gatlin Kraft-Anderson of Winthrop, Minn., his goldfish, Pish-Posh, Paternal Grandparents, Willard and Rosemary Anderson of Gaylord, Minn., Maternal Grandparents, Glen and Sharon K. Vander Kolk of Waverly, and Ken and Lorie Kraft of Ionia, Maternal Great-Grandmother, Betty Munson of Lawler, Iowa, Aunts and Uncles, Jerome and Shaun Anderson of Nicollet, Minn., Glenn and Sue Anderson of Brainerd, Minn., Roger and Denise Bechly of Fountain City, Wis., Neal and Renee Rasmussen of Winthrop, Minn., Shawn and Michelle Kraft of Charles City, John and Melissa Kraft of Charles City, Nathan Laydon of Ionia, Matt Vander Kolk of Waterloo, Mason and Joy Vander Kolk of Waterloo, and Mark and Lisa Vander Kolk of Waterville, Godparents, Denise Bechly, Shawn Kraft, Melissa Kraft and Nathan Laydon.

Also an extended family of friends and supporters.


Minnie L. Kleinschmidt

ALLISON - Funeral services for Minnie L. Kleinschmidt, 95, formerly of 16446 Marsh Ave., Allison, were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Vilmar, rural Greene, with Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Burial was in the North Vilmar Cemetery.

Minnie L. Kleinschmidt was born April 24, 1906, in rural Jackson Township, Butler County, a daughter of Dietrick and Augusta (Heuer) Kleinschmidt, and died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at the Allison Health Care Center in Allison.

She was baptized April 29, 1906, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Vilmar and later confirmed on April 11, 1920 at Vilmar. She received her education at the Jackson Township No. 7 country school.

Minnie's vocation was being a nanny for families in Butler County. She was one of the first women in Butler County to receive a driver's license. She will be remembered for having a great love for babies and young children, especially for her nieces and nephews.

Her interests included sewing, crocheting and tatting. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and growing vegetables. She loved cats. She took care of all the farm cats and strays who happened to come along.

She provided for her family by being an excellent cook, which included her German Potato Salad and her homemade cakes and other goodies. She was a very resourceful individual who never let anything go to waste.

Minnie was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Vilmar.

Living family members include three nieces: Dorothy Senne and Viola Luchtenburg, both of Allison, Marla Senne of Mason City, and one nephew: Floyd and his wife Verlene Senne of Allison and a host of great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dora Senne in 1977 and two nephews: Ervin Dean Senne on Oct. 9, 1936, Roy William Senne on Sept. 12, 1997, and a great nephew, Greg Senne on June 22, 1998.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Minnie Kleinschmidt memorial fund in care of the family.

Reid's Funeral Chapel of Greene was in charge of the arrangements.


Alvira Chambers

MARBLE ROCK - Alvira (Shook) Chambers died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 at Good Sheperd Nursing Home in Mason City.

Funeral services for Alvira Chambers were Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at the Church of the Brethren in Greene with Pastor Ashok Patet officiating, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.

Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock was in charge of arrangements.


Charlotte M. Smith

HANOVER, Ind. - Charlotte M. Smith, 96, of 318 E. First Street, Madison, Ind., formerly of Charles City, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Hanover Nursing Center in Hanover, Ind.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at the Sunnyside Chapel, rural Charles City with the Rev. Eugene Reynolds officiating. Interment wil be at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens in Charles City.

A memorial service was conducted by the La-Belle Reviere Rebakah Lodge No. 624 Monday night at the funeral home.

Charlotte was born Nov. 9, 1905, in Louisa, the daughter of Jacob Emery Reynolds and Laura Elizabeth (Carson) Reynolds. She was a retired school teacher who taught grades one through eight in a one room country school house in Iowa for 20 years. She was a special education teacher for the Floyd County School System for several years and also served as a substitute teacher in the Madison Consolidated School System for nine years. She was a life member of the Iowa State Teacher Association and the National Education Association; the La-Belle Reviere Rebakah Lodge No. 624 Madison, Ind.; the Ladies of the Patriarch Militant and St. John's United Church of Christ.

Living family members include a son, Darryl Smith of Madison, Ind., a granddaughter, Donna Hallgarth of Lexington, Ind. and a sister, Verlee DeVries of Aplington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Verna Sondo, Amanda Smith and Gertrude Schnurstein, three brothers, Leonard, Lester and Austin Reynolds and a granddaughter, Deborah Ann Smith.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ.

Dean Eichmeir

Dean E. Eichmeir, 76, of 2050 Hickory, Rockford, died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Fullerton Schumburg Family of Funeral Homes, 301 W. Main Rockford.


Harry L. Greene

NASHUA - Harry L. Greene, 91, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services are being planned for Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Nashua. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002.

Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
