Terri Lynn Harris

Terri Lynn Harris, 54, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away April 28, 2010, at the Dumont Wellness Center in Dumont, Iowa. She was born on January 4, 1956, in Eldora, Iowa, to James and Helen (Tooley) Harris.

Terri enjoyed working on puzzles and watching the Cardinals on TV. She especially loved all of the visits from her family. +

Terri is survived by her brothers James Harris of Omaha, Nebraska and Mike (Sandy) Harris of Granger, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Helen Harris.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in rural Zearing, Iowa. There was no visitation. Pastor Tom Poppe officiated the service. Pallbearers were Chad Harris, T. J. Harris, Rob Weir, Brandon Michael, Dylan Michael, Quin Harris, and Jameson Harris.

Eunice M. Cordes

Eunice M. Cordes, 78, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away April 29, 2010, at her home in Hampton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 4, at the Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield. Burial was held Wednesday, May 5, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church Cemetery in Oregon, Illinois.

 Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Eva Charlotte (Johnson) Paullus

Eva Charlotte (Johnson) Paullus, 92, of Waukon, Iowa, formerly of Hampton, Iowa, passed away April 26, 2010, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 28, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Lois Ann Gallope

Lois Ann Gallope, 69, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away May 2, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont, Iowa. Visitation will also be on Friday at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont, Iowa from 10:30 until service time.

Burial will be in the Hitesville Cemetery in rural Aplington, Iowa. Rev. Jack Ritsema will be officiating.


 
Melvin Sherman

Melvin Sherman, age 85, of Aplington, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Maple Manor Village in Aplington, Iowa.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg with Pastor Ron Sikkema officiating. Burial was held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, with full military honors conducted by the Aplington AMVET’s Post #102.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the A-P Dollars for Scholars Program or Hope Reformed Church, both in Parkersburg.

Dennis Anthony Matura

Dennis Anthony Matura, age 67, of Aplington, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 7, 2010, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services were held Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington with Pastor Scott Summers officiating. Burial was held in the Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery. Full military honors were conducted by the Aplington AMVET’s Post #102.

Helen O. Cassmann

Helen O. Cassmann, 87, of Allison, Iowa, passed away May 1, 2010, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison in Allison, Iowa. She was born on March 12, 1923, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Frank J. and Hildred L. (White) Saunders. Helen attended Catholic School in Dubuque. When her family moved to Cedar Rapids, she graduated from Franklin School.

Helen was united in marriage to Harold H. Cassmann on November 3, 1943, in Albert City. Helen’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her world.

She is survived by her daughter Linda & husband Mark Randall of Allison, daughter Janis & husband Craig Cramer of Allison, son David & wife Lisa of Algona, daughter Susan & husband Jim Rewerts of Allison, sister Jeanne White of Allison, brother Bill Saunders of Chandler, Arizona, brother Jim Saunders of Charlotte, North Carolina, sister Mary Anne Baldridge of Cedar Rapids, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Helen loved to spend time outside. Each spring she watched for the return of her Martins and the blooming of her peony bush. She loved sitting outside enjoying the view and listening to the Martins sing. Helen’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her world. She loved cooking for them. Whenever she knew family members were coming she would prepare their favorite foods.

 Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 4, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greene. Burial took place in the Allison Cemetery. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiated the service. Organist was Robin Morton with Soloist Dan Meyer. Pallbearers were Ryan Bries, Jordan Rickert, Christopher Cassmann, Corey Wiegmann, Troy Ulrich, Eric Cassmann, Todd Rickert, Matt Eberle, Brian Tournier and Doug Wilkinson.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future disbursement.

Iver Lu Bloomfield

Iver Lu Bloomfield, age 93, of Parkersburg, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at his home in Parkersburg.

Private Family Services will be held at a later date. Friends may stop by the
house to offer their condolences.


Harvey A. Miller

Harvey A. Miller, age 89, of Clarksville, Iowa was born June 9, 1920, the son of August and Mary Ellerman Miller at home in Clarksville. Harvey attended Clarksville Public School and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1937.

Harvey was united in marriage with Marjorie E. Voss at the United Church of Christ - Pleasant Valley near Clarksville on December 5, 1940. He lived his entire life in Clarksville except while serving in the Army Air Corps., during World War II. Harvey was a member of the 8th Air Force, 386th Bomb Group where he flew on 30 missions over Germany and France and won the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal for his D-Day participation. His squadron flew the first B-24 Bombers over to England, but spent the majority of his missions in a B-17 Bomber, as a gunner.

Harvey was a good athlete in high school and participated in basketball and baseball. After graduation he was offered a basketball scholarship by Upper Iowa University. He also played on the Clarksville Town baseball team. He was a life-long golfer where he began golfing on the original Clarksville course near the cemetery. Harvey along with other local businessmen were the first Board of Directors when C.A.R.D. (Clarksville Area Recreational Development) began. The golf course and swimming pool was south of town and Harvey was the first greens keeper.

He operated the DX Service Station on Main Street in Clarksville for many years. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. Harvey spent a lifetime serving his community, as a long time scout leader, volunteer fireman, emergency medical technician, gas station operator and Post Office clerk.

He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and studied as a Mason for over 50 years. Harvey was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always ready to help with his children’s projects and many other community endeavors. His last years were spent taking walks with his dog, Sammy.

Harvey died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Evergreen Arbor at Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly, Iowa.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Marjorie; a grandson, Daniel W. Miller; a brother Lloyd “Bing” Miller; two sisters, Sylvia Burke and Lucille Harper, and several nieces and nephews.

Harvey is survived by his six children, a son, Bob Miller and his wife, Lanora of Galena, IL, a son, Harvey Joe Miller and his wife, Paula of Clarksville, IA and Pharr, TX, a daughter, Becky Forry and her husband, Bill of Castle Rock, CO, a daughter, Kathi Dana and her husband, Douglas of Finchford, IA, a son, Jim Miller of Nashua, IA, and a son, Bill Miller and his wife, Barb of Clarksville, IA; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville, Iowa. Pastor Lynne Busch officiated and the organist was Harriet Forry. The congregational hymns are “Borning Cry” and “Amazing Grace.” The Honorary Casket bearers were all of his Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren. The Casket bearers are Greg Miller, Alicia Forry, Tim Kollmann, Jeromiah Bliss, Adam Miller and John Bliss. Burial will be at the Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Iowa with military rites conducted by the Clarksville AMVETS Post #30 and Fire Department Rites conducted by the Grundy County Fire Association Honor Guard.

Memorials may be directed to the Clarksville Fire Department or the Clarksville Ambulance.

Gordon Wayne Cassmann

Gordon Wayne Cassmann, age 83, of Aplington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Waterloo, Iowa with Rev. Jim Knudson officiating the services. Interment was at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa and Military Rites were conducted by the Parkersburg American Legion, Post # 285.

Pamela Jean Aukes

Pamela Jean Aukes, 43, of Bristow, Iowa, passed away May 11, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral service was held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Bristow Church of Christ. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery rural Bristow, Iowa and Pastor Steve Anderson officiated the service. She was born September 12, 1966, in Wadena, Minnesota, to James and Joyce (Pippo) White.

Pamela graduated from the Dumont High School in 1985, and attended NIACC in Mason City, Iowa. She married Bobby Aukes on October 13, 1988, in Allison, Iowa. Pamela worked at the Butler County Treasurer’s Office in Allison, Iowa. She was a member of the Bristow Church of Christ.

Pamela enjoyed flowers and her flower beds, her pets and animals, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, books and reading and spending time with her children and family.

She is survived by her husband Bobby Aukes of Bristow, daughter Heather Aukes of Ankeny, daughter Chelsey Aukes of Bristow, daughter Megan Aukes of Bristow, mother Joyce White of Cedar Rapids, sister Patty (Brian) Winkowitsch of Bristow, brother Mike White of Alexandria, Minnesota, brother Jacob White & fiancée Heidi of Farmington, Minnesota, sister Becky Berg of Wadena, Minnesota and grandmother Wilma White of Perham, Minnesota.

Pamela was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather and her father.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Pamela Jean Aukes Memorial Fund.

Janet Helen Downing

Janet Helen (Wood) Downing, rural Greene, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greene.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Chapel, Greene.


Raymond Francis Gram

Raymond Francis Gram, 81, of Hampton, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

A private memorial service will be held for the family on May 28, 2010.
