However, Mark soon received his draft notice and instead worked on the Ben Aukes farm near Woden until he left for duty with the U.S. Army in the Philippine Islands in 1945.

Mae worked in the Woden School lunch program for many years until she retired. She also was active in many community organizations, such as the St. John's Lutheran Church and the local American Legion Auxiliary.

She lived a long and fulfilling life in Woden, enjoying embroidery, gardening, and helping others. She especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed participating in their activities. In December of 2004, she moved to Logan, Utah to be closer to her immediate family.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Mark Twedt and his wife, Carla of Logan, Utah; five grandchildren, Amber (Chad) Sampson of Tempe, Arizona, Nathan Twedt of Denver, Colorado, Corey (Becky) Twedt, Devin (Jessica) Twedt and Brady Twedt all of Logan, Utah; seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way; and a sister, Dixie (James) Buns of Woden.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark; and sister, Marion Buns.
