March 27, 2001

Orville A. Owen, 86, of Fertile, died on Monday, March 19, 2001, at his home of a heart attack.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 23, at the Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. The Reverend Keith A. Sievers officiated.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; two sons, Michael Owen and wife, Ramona of Everly and Ronald Owen and wife, Linda of Forest City; one daughter, Anieta Oltmann of Plano, Texas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Olive Clouss of Boise, Idaho; one sister-in-law, Carrie Owen of Rockwell City; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Sorenson, 79

March 27, 2001

Evelyn Carol Sorenson, 79, of rural Hanlontown, died on Monday, March 19, 2001, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 23, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown. The Reverend David Werges officiated. Burial was in the Brush Point Cemetery, rural Hanlontown.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Kelmer of rural Hanlontown; one daughter, Deloris Downs and husband, Dan of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; one son, Lynn and wife, Cynthia of rural Hanlontown; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Lavon; one brother, Sam Gooden and wife, Rita; and several nieces and nephews.

Lori Twait, 41

March 27, 2001

Lori J. Twait, 41, of Forest City, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, as the result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. The Reverend Lee Laaveg officiated.

Survivors include her daughters, Ashlea and Rachael Twait; her mother, Clara Eisenmann; her sisters, Julie Ward and husband, Robin of Forest City and Carol Eisenmann of Ankeny; two brothers, David Eisenmann of Ames and Douglas Eisenmann and wife, Diane; three nieces, Jennifer and Megan Eisenmann and Christiana Ward; three nephews, Dan, Curtis and Dana Eisenmann; two aunts, Marilyn Rike of Titonka and Mary Ann Eisenmann; three uncles, Ed Rike and wife, Betty, Roy Eisenmann and wife, Mary and Paul and wife, Emily; family friend, Dennis Meling; and eight cousins.

Alice Hayes, 93

March 27, 2001

Alice Morrissey Hayes, 93, died on Friday, March 23, 2001, in her home at the Atrium Village.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 30, at the St. Joseph's Church in Hills. Father Lou Leonhardt will officiate. Friends may pay their respects after 4:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the home of her son, Jim, in Iowa City. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated again Saturday, March 31, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m., at the church. Burial services will be at the church.

Survivors include her children, Dennis J. Hayes and his wife, Diane of Toronto, Canada, James P. Hayes of Iowa City, Kathleen and her husband, Dennis Smith of Portland, Oregon and Rosemary and her husband, Gary Biderman of rural Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Betty Teague, 77

Betty Margaret Graham Teague, 77, of Thompson, died on Saturday, March 24, 2001.

A Mass of the Resurrection was held on Tuesday, March 27, at the St. James Catholic Church in Forest City. The Rev. Craig Steimel officiated.

Survivors include her husband, Myron of Thompson; her brother, Richard Graham of Forest City; her son, Graham Teague and his wife, Mary of Columbia, South Carolina; a daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Hoover; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Tristan Charlson, Infant

April 3,2001

Tristan Gabriel Charlson, infant son of Jessica Ellen Sturm and Brandon Michael Charlson of Mason City, was stillborn on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 29, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills. Burial was in the Salem Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents; paternal grandparents, David Charlson and Deanna Aasland; maternal grandparents, David Sturm, JoEllen Latham, GK Chad Latham; paternal great-grandparents, Wayne and Arlene Sprecher, Dennis and Laural Aasland, Willard and Esther Charlson; maternal great-grandparents, Ed and Mary Smith, Steve and Tisha Shepard, Cleo Sturm; and aunts and uncles, Kristopher Charlson, Maria Sturm and Noah Latham.

He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandmother, Zelda Sturm; and aunt, Megan Charlson.

PAYSON, ARIZONA-Harold L. Robertson, 73, of Payson, Arizona, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in Payson.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 31, at the Messinger Payson Funeral Home in Payson. Burial was in the Mountain Meadows Memorial Park, Payson.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis of Payson; five sons, Larry and wife, Carol of Phoenix, Arizona, David of Rancho Viejo, Texas, Keith and wife, Jacque of Wilhoit, Arizona, Steve and wife, Bobbie of Show Low, Arizona and Randy and wife, Diane of Payson; two sisters, June and her husband, Dean Anderson of Forest City and Ann and her husband, Walt Arensmeyer of Choteau, Montana; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

WEATHERFORD, TEXAS-Orville Thomas Eames, 86, of Weatherford, Texas, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in Whitney, Texas.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 29, at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. Kenneth Lerwick and Berlin Raymond conducted the services. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Eames of Weatherford; two daughters, Pat Harris of Whitney and Pamela Eames of Weatherford; a son, Roger Eames of Weatherford; a sister, Vivalor Hodge of Chicago, Illinois; a brother, Maynard Eames of Forest City; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Cyrus Waage, 89, of Buffalo Center, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 31, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. The Reverend Lois Abel officiated.

Survivors include his wife, Velma of Buffalo Center; several special nieces and nephews; one sister, Isabelle Bell of Thompson; and one brother, Lenard of Forest City.

MINNEAPOLIS-Craig H. Jackson, 54, of Minneapolis, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at an Edina, Minnesota hospital.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 31, at the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was on Monday, April 2, in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; a son, James; a daughter, Ericka; a sister, Connie Jackson and her family; plus other relatives.

Stella Lillian Nelson, 89, of North Aurora, Illinois, died on Friday, March 30, 2001, at her home. 

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 3, at the River of Life Church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Hearron of Racine, Wisconsin, Betty (Glen) Lunstrum of Batavia, Illinois, Lou Ann (John) Owens of San Francisco, California and their families; and one brother, Harland Hoeft of Sebring, Florida.

TERRIL-Naomi B. Kraft, 79, died on Friday, March 30, 2001, at the Spencer Hospital.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Harley and Delores Dickens; four daughters and their husbands, Roberta and Steve Abrahamson of Forest City, Patty and Bob Netsch of Spirit Lake, Ginger and Dewey Hemmingsen of Cedar Rapids and Barb Knudtson of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Marvin and Velma Crew of Spencer; one sister, Vera Hoover of Harrison, Alaska; two sisters-in-law, Emma Crew and Ilene Crew of Spencer; along with other relatives and friends.
