September 15, 2010, at the Stacyville Community Nursing
Home.
Funeral services were held
at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, September 20, at the Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Meyer, Iowa, with Father Monsignor John W.
Hemann officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery,

Marie Louise (Bissen) Koenigs, was born on
March 4, 1911, to John and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Bissen. She

were spent attending the St. Johns School at Johnsburg,
Minnesota and she completed her education at the Good
Counsel Academy in Mankato, Minnesota. She married Paul
Koenigs on November 22, 1932. They began their married life
on a farm near Meyer. To this union were born five children,
John, Deo, Roman, Jerry and Elaine. During their 42 year
marriage they farmed and lived in the Meyer area.
Paul and Marie made their retirement home on
an acreage just north of Meyer. It was a happy time, free

At the age of 87, she had
the courage to buy a new home and move to Stacyville. It was
her first "in town" experience and she loved being close to
the action. Her neighbors were also close friends and they
delighted in getting together to go to mass, morning coffees
and evenings just to watch the sun go down.
Marie's next home was to
be the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, where she has been
lovingly cared for the past five years. While there she was
seldom without visits from her children and grandchildren.
She kept track of all the happenings in each family and had
