John R. Indra, age 92, of
Osage, died on Friday, April 2, 2010, at the Mitchell County
Regional Health Care Center in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial
was held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 6, at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev John Moser
officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in
Osage. Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday,
at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
John was born on November
17, 1917, on the family farm west of Osage, the son of
Joseph and Amelia (Hovel) Indra. He attended the country
school on the Mitchell Corner west of Osage. John worked on
the family farm until moving to Osage with his mother,
sister and brother in 1961. He did yard work and various
jobs until he became disabled.
John is survived by
numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; a sister, Leona Indra; and a brother, Lloyd
Indra.

Clara Wall

Clara Wall, age 90, of
Osage, died on Sunday, April, 4, 2010, at the Mitchell
County Regional Health Center in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 10, at the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. John Moser
officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., on Friday, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a rosary at
5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the
Mitchell County Food Bank.
Clara was born on March
11, 1920 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Gerhard and Alma
(Hemming) Tegeler. She was united in marriage to Harold Wall
on June 14, 1947 in Dyersville. They lived in Jesup, where
they owned and operated a retail store. In 1953, they moved
to St. Ansgar, where they opened the Economy Store. They
moved to Osage in 1959, where they opened another Economy
Store, which they operated until retiring in 1979.
Clara was a member and
volunteered whenever she could at the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church and took part in Bible Study. Clara enjoyed quilting,
baking, sewing and reading.
Survivors include her
children, Sharon Kleckner of St. Ansgar, Mark (Pam) Wall of
Des Moines, Mike (Kathy) Wall of Phoenix, Arizona, David
Wall of San Diego, California and Mary (Jerry) Dunlay of
Osage; 11 grandchildren, Ethan Kleckner, Ailey Brehmer,
Ari-Anne Fuchtman, Abbey Strum, Addam Wall, Dylan Wall, Alex
Wall, Hayley Wall, Hannah Linn, Sady Dunlay and Max Dunlay;
three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Tegeler of
Quincy, Illinois, Ralph (Bernie) Tegeler of La Crosse,
Wisconsin and Leo (Lorraine) Tegeler of Dubuque; two
sisters, Millie Conzett of Dubuque and Ethel McCready of
Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1992; a
great-granddaughter, Anna Sue Kleckner; and a sister,
Catherine Tegeler.

Norma Fay Ford
April 7, 2010
Norma Fay (Young) Ford,
age 94, of Osage, died on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the
Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 12, at the United
Church of Christ in Osage, with Pastor Deborah Gage and
Pastor Ruth Moerdyk officiating. Interment will be in the
Orchard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., on
Sunday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Norma was the second
daughter of John Franklin and Sarah (Sonne) Young. She was
born near Colwell, Iowa, on December 20, 1915. Norma
graduated from the Colwell High School in 1933. On April 17,
1941, she and H. Marion Ford were married in Cedar Falls,
Iowa. They made their home on the Ford farm east of Orchard
until they moved to Osage in 1985. She had resided at the
Augustana Regent Home in Burnsville, Minnesota, since
November 2005, until moving to the Faith Lutheran Home in
Osage in October 2009.
Norma was a member of the
United Church of Christ in Osage, where she taught Sunday
School and Bible School. She served as circle chairwoman,
was on several church committees and was also a 4-H Leader.
Norma is survived by her
daughter, Dianne and her husband, Terrence Dunlay of
Bloomington, Minnesota and their three children and
families, Beth and Jon Fasching and daughters, Lauren,
Kendal and Jordan of Bloomington, Minnesota, Scott and Kara
Dunlay and daughters, Kate and Sara of Greensboro, North
Carolina, Ryan and Courtney Dunlay and sons, Nolan, Gavin
and Caden of Chanhassen, Minnesota.
She is also survived by
her son, Craig Ford and his wife, Jo of Suwanee, Georgia and
their three children and families, Michael and Lea Ford and
children, Morlyn and Austin of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jarret
and Rachel Ford and sons, Garrison and Cash of Sevierville,
Tennessee, Susan and Jeff Blomstrom of Sauk Rapids,
Minnesota.
Norma was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband, Marion in 1987; a
grandson, Eric Dunlay; a great-granddaughter, Payton Jo
Blomstrom; two sisters, Helen Fredrick and Ethel Zimmerman;
and an infant brother, Roy.

Gertrude Ann Williams, age
89, of Rochester and formerly of Osage, died on Monday,
April 5, 2010, at the Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home in
Rochester, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held 10:30 a.m., on Friday, April 9, at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. John Moser
officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, at
the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a rosary at
4:45 p.m.
Gert
was born on June 14, 1920 in Waterville, Iowa, the daughter
of John and Margaret (Moore) McGeough. On August 8, 1944,
she was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" E. Williams.
They moved to Osage in 1945.
She was a member of the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church and in the past assisted with
answering the parish phones. Gert was a long time member of
the Our Lady of Good Counsel Study Club. She was also a
member of the Osage V.F.W. Auxiliary. Gert cherished her
family, her grandkids and her friends. She enjoyed dancing
and writing poetry.
Gert
is survived by her daughter, Jane (Roy) Miller of Osage and
their children, Mindy (Jim) Henderson, Mike (Dawn) Miller
and Marty (Angie) Miller; her daughter, Megg (Craig) Ganrude
of Rochester, Minnesota and their children, Nicole Ganrude
and Makenzee Ganrude; seven great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Richard "Dick" Williams in
2002; three sisters; and one brother.

Stella Dorothy Wyatt, age
88, of Riceville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 6,
2010, at the Riceville Family Care & Therapy Center in
Riceville, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be
held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in
Riceville, on Saturday, April 10, at 10:30 a.m., with the
Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be in the
Calvary Cemetery in Riceville. Friends may call at the
Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Friday, April 9,
during the hours of 5-7:00 p.m. A scripture service will be
held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
Stella Dorothy Kohles, was
born on November 23, 1921 in Oakdale Township in Howard
County, Iowa, to George and Mayme (Emig) Kohles. She
attended country school through the eighth grade. Stella was
united in marriage to Warren Wyatt on October 6, 1945, at
the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elma, Iowa.
After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Riceville
area until 1952, when they moved into town. In 1959, Warren
and Stella purchased the DX Station in Riceville, which they
operated until 1984. They also owned and operated the Oaks
Motel for eight years.
Stella was a member of the
St. Anne's Rosary Society, St. Rita's Study Club and the
American Legion Auxiliary. A charter member of the Riceville
TOPS club, she enjoyed many TOPS convention trips. She and
Warren were able to spend time visiting daughter, Kathy in
such places as Hawaii, Virginia, Guantanamo Bay Cuba and
Florida. Some of her favorite things were having coffee with
her sisters and friends, her love of writing and reading
poetry, growing beautiful flowers, spending time with
family, having fun and sharing her positive attitude.
She is survived by her
husband, Warren of Riceville; daughters, Dianna (Delgene)
Nicolai of Riceville, Kathy (Jim) Morris of Pensacola,
Florida and Julie (Allen) Lee of Elma; grandchildren, Craig
(Kellie) DeHoet of Woodward, Jena (Charlie) Passut of
Franklin, Virginia, Adam Lee of College Station, Texas,
Wyatt Lee and Zachary Lee of Elma; step-grandchildren, Josie
(Troy) Higley of Zumbrota, Minnesota and Troy (Kim) Nicolai
of Mankato, Minnesota; twelve great-grandchildren, Courtney
DeHoet, Taylor Boude, Morgan DeHoet, Ciera DeHoet, Cole
DeHoet, Cayla DeHoet, Charlie Passut, Jamie Passut, Sydney
Higley, William Higley, Addison Nicolai and Jack Nicolai;
two sisters, Rita Thompson of Riceville and Anna Sullivan of
Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Tillie Fleming of Pepin,
Wisconsin and Blanche Considine of Apache Junction, Arizona,
Ida Wyatt of Elk River, Minnesota and Beatrice Kohles of
Elma; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; 2 brothers, Alfred and Urban Kohles; 5
sisters, Marcella Wyatt, Lenora Kohles, Helen Sullivan, Rose
Kohles and Mary Whitinger; and grandsons, Chris and Casey
DeHoet; along with several brothers and sisters-in-laws.

Jean Kienast, age 81, of
Osage, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the Manly Nursing
and Rehab Center in Manly.
Funeral services will be
held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, April 9, at the Trinity
Lutheran Church in Osage, with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser
officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Jean was born on June 3,
1928 in New Salem, North Dakota, the daughter of Frederick
and Gladys (Bauer) Simon. Her family moved to Osage when she
was a young girl. She attended the Osage Schools and
graduated from the Osage High School in 1946. On September
28, 1948, she married Arnold Kienast in Osage. They later
divorced. Jean worked as a local telephone operator. She
also worked as a nurse's aide at the Faith Lutheran Home in
Osage, retiring in 1991.
Jean enjoyed quilting,
gardening, birds and nature.
Jean is survived by three
children, Fred (Diane) Kienast of Hudson, Lisa Wharam and
special friend, Kevin Chelf of Harpers Ferry and Mark
(Desiree) Kienast of Salem, New York; seven grandchildren;
ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Gordon)
Schmarzo of Manning and Sylvia Kelly of West Des Moines; and
a son-in-law, Dale Kazeck of Big Lake, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; a daughter, Becky Kazeck; and a
granddaughter, Danielle Knight.

Deborah "Deb" Ogden-Pape,
age 63, of Osage, died on Friday, April 9, 2010, at the
Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Memorial services will be
held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 13, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. Roy Ott
officiating.
Deb was born on September
12, 1946 in Osage, the daughter of Leo and Irene (Snyder)
Ogden. She attended the Osage Community Schools. Deb married
Ralph Brandt and to this union three children Colleen, Toni
and Shawna were born. They later divorced.
Deb enjoyed sci-fi books
and movies, camping, fishing and spending time with her
grandchildren.
Deb is survived by three
daughters, Colleen Brandt and husband, Tom Foell of Forest
City, Toni (Duane) Hanson of Osage and Shawna Brandt and
boyfriend, Brian Duryee of Northwood; a son, Chris (Tina)
Trimble of Missouri; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Dan
(LaDonna) Ogden of Osage.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; and a brother, Dick Ogden.

Richard Blaser
April 20, 2010
Richard Blaser, age 92, of
Osage, died on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the Faith Home in
Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 22, at the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. John Moser
officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Catholic
Cemetery in Stacyville, with military honors at the grave by
the Stacyville American Legion Post 569 and Osage V.F.W.
Post 7920. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., on
Wednesday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage,
with a rosary at 5:30 p.m.
Richard was born on March
27, 1918 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of John and Anna
(Blake) Blaser. He attended Catholic School in Meyer, Iowa,
before being sent to the army in June of 1942. He served in
the 89th Division for four years during World War II in
France and Germany and was discharged in 1946. After serving
his term in the military, he worked construction in
Waterloo. Richard married Kathleen Linkenmeyer. Kathleen
passed away on December 26, 1966. Richard married Viola (Steiger)
Mauer on March 23, 1980. He farmed near Stacyville until
retiring and moving to Osage.
Richard was a member of
the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of
Foresters, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and
the VFW. He enjoyed family, many friends, his beautiful
home, working in their garden, good food, dancing and
traveling.
Richard is survived by his
wife, Viola Blaser of Osage; a stepdaughter, Marilyn (Dick)
Miller of Mason City; a stepson, Gary (Janice) Mauer of
Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11
great-great-grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth (Lucille)
Blaser of Osage and Gervis (Lucina) Blaser of Osage; his
sisters, Armila Kramer of Osage and Kathleen Wiste of Adams,
Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Ben Smith of Stacyville; and
his most cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his first wife, Kathleen Blaser; two
brothers, Roger Blaser and Norbert Blaser; three sisters,
Irene Jax, Mildred Blaser and Rita Smith; two nephews, Allen
Blaser and Gary Blaser; and a great-nephew, Michael Blaser.

Red Wing-Wayne Allen
Rosenberg, 73, formerly of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died on Friday,
April 23, 2010, at the Red Wing Health Center, Red Wing,
Minnesota.
Funeral services were held
on Tuesday, April 27, at 11:00 a.m., at the Emmanuel
Lutheran Church, Grafton, with Rev. Ron Bolinger
officiating. Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.
Wayne Allen Rosenberg, was
born on October 3, 1936, to Eddie and Ella Rosenberg of St
Ansgar, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel
Lutheran Church, Grafton. After graduating from the Grafton
High School he spent two years in the U.S. Army. He was
employed by Wilson and Company in Colorado and then returned
to help his father farm. Later, he moved to Rochester,
Minnesota, where he worked for Crenlo. He later moved to
Chester Heights, Minnesota, where he retired.
He enjoyed sports events,
horses, traveling, playing guitar and singing.
He is survived by a
sister, Evelyn (Lenard) Fox of Osage; brothers, Dale (Delrose)
of Mason City and Gene (Betty) of Grafton; and sister,
Janice (Russell) Weinschenk of Rochester, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; and brother, Glenn (Arlene).

Harold A. Machin, Sr.
April 27, 2010
Harold A. Machin, Sr., age 93, of Osage, died on Saturday,
April 24, 2010, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care
Center in Osage.
Memorial services will be
held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 29, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. Dennis
Hanson officiating and a flag presentation by the Osage
American Legion Post 278 and the Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.
Inurnment will take place in the Saratoga Cemetery in
Saratoga. A gathering of family and friends will be held
from 5-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 28, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.
Harold Allen Machin, Sr.,
was born on April 11, 1917 in Ackworth, Iowa, the son of
Arthur Allen and Emma Eloise (Dixon) Machin. He attended
Iowa country schools. Harold was united in marriage to
Kathleen Joan Sigler on July 12, 1937, at the Episcopal
Parsonage in Cresco, Iowa. Joan was 17 and Harold was 20. To
this union seven children were born. Harold served in WW II
in the Philippines. He was a life long member of the Osage
American Legion Post 278 and the Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.
After the war he worked at the Cedar Valley Produce, the
Oliver Corporation and worked for 16 years for the W W Runge
Farms. He would later tell his son, John, that one of his
fondest memories was the smell of freshly plowed soil. After
moving to Osage he worked for Richard's Implement and M&W
Electric. In 1982, he retired from the Mitchell County Road
Maintenance Department where he was always very proud of
"his roads."
Harold enjoyed fishing,
gardening and mowed his lawn until the age of 92. He took
pride in assisting his friends and neighbors with yard care
and chores. After Joan's death in 1999, he enjoyed winters
in Donna, Texas, looking forward to resting in the sun and
visiting with neighbors.
Harold is survived by his
seven children, Jo Anne Machin of Osage, Charles Machin of
Alta Vista, John (Jova) Machin of Osage, Mary Napier of
Monument, Colorado, Bernice (Arnold) Curry of Houston,
Missouri, Kathleen (Larry) Miller of Kansas City, Missouri
and Harold (Kathleen) Machin Jr. of Fort Collins, Colorado;
27 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 31
great-great-grandchildren.
He will lovingly be
remembered by his family, many friends, neighbors and his
special friend, Mrs. Alice Schroeder of La Porte City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his wife, Joan; sisters, Dorothy Machin,
Ardis Machin, Bernice Royek and Bess Bucholtz; brothers,
Robert J. and Raymond Machin; and 2 sons-in-law, Ronald
Hemrich and John Napier.

Jeanetta De Groot
April 27, 2010
Jeanetta De Groot, age 90, of
Mitchellville, died on Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Faith
Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa.
Funeral services will be
held on Saturday, May 1, at the First Reformed Church of
Prairie City, at 10:30 a.m., with burial following in the
Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April
30, at the Coburn Funeral Home of Prairie City, from 4-6:30
p.m. Memorials may be given to the De Groot Agricultural
Scholarship Fund.
Jeanetta
De Groot, was born on February 15, 1920, at her parent's
farm home near Sully, Iowa. She was the fifth of six
children born to Henry J. and Christina Mathes Van Wyk. She
graduated from the Taylor Country Grade School and from the
Sully High School in 1936, at the age of sixteen. Jeanetta
graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines, Iowa
and began her beautician career with Ruth Schultz in
Kellogg, Iowa. She later established her own beauty salon in
her parents home in Sully, called the Kurly Kue; cutting
hair for a quarter and perms for a dollar.
She married Frederick De
Groot on November 19, 1942, moving to the home farm near
Mitchellville, Iowa, living there together for 59 years
until her poor health necessitated her living at the
Mitchellville Care Center. Fred and Jeanetta were married
for nearly 67 years before his death in October 2008;
Jeanetta then lived near Bonnie at the Faith Lutheran Home
in Osage, Iowa until her death on Monday, April 26, 2010.
Those who will cherish her
memory are her daughter, Bonnie and husband, Eldean Wendt;
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kyle and Alison
(Kaiser) Wendt and their children, Jacob Carter, Alexander
Isaac and Evan Robert; Emily and Jerry Johnson and their
children, Olivia Anne and Sophia Elle; Ellen and David
Cernich and their daughter, Julia Elizabeth; David and
Autumn (Hickman) Wendt and their children, Leyton Henry and
Callum Roy.
She is also survived by
her only living sibling, Margaret (Huyser) Vande Krol; and
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Len and Tess (De Groot)
Slegers; and 20 nieces and nephews, their spouses, children
and grandchildren.

Manly August "Tim"
Timmerman
May 4, 2010
Manly August "Tim" Timmerman, passed away on Wednesday,
April 28, 2010, at the Austin Medical Center.
Funeral services were held
at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 1, at the Clasen-Jordan
Mortuary Chapel, with Revered Dennis Tamke officiating.
Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, with the Austin Post #91
American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post #1216 Veterans of
Foreign Wars in charge of the military rites. Visitation was
held at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Saturday, from 10:00
a.m. until the time of the services.
He had been living the
past year at Our House Memory Care in Austin. He was born on
December 11, 1926, to August and Ella Timmerman in
Riceville, Iowa. He graduated from Riceville and joined the
Navy soon after and was in for many years. He belonged to
the VFW in Osage for 50 years and was also a member of the
Austin American Legion. His folks made their home in Osage
and he did when he was discharged from the Navy. He married
LaVonne Miller of Austin, on February 22, 1947 in Albert
Lea, Minnesota. They were married for 47 years and lived in
Osage, where he ran two service stations. He then moved to
Austin and was a manager at J.C. Penney's Auto Department.
He then went to work for Hormel until his retirement.
LaVonne passed away in 1994.
Manly is survived by
brother, Robert Timmerman of Riceville; sister-in-law, Doris
(Miller) Kent of Salina, Kansas; one very dear friend,
Gracie Ferguson of Austin, Minnesota; nephew, Gene (Darlene)
Timmerman of Mason City; niece, Janet (Greg) Holmes of
Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; and many other nieces, nephews and
cousins.

Showalter

Everett E. Showalter, age 85, of Osage, left the loving hand
of his wife, Marjorie Showalter, to the caring hand of the
Lord on Thursday, April 29, 2010, holding the hands of his
loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at
the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. John
Moser officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart
Cemetery in Osage, with military honors at the grave by the
Osage American Legion Post 278. The family received friends
from 5-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at the Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home in Osage, with a scripture wake service at 6:30
p.m.
Everett was born on
January 15, 1925 near Elma, Iowa. He served in the U.S.
Marines in World War II and was a member of the American
Legion for 64 years. He was also a member of the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church for 50 years. Everett was a
professional photographer and enjoyed gardening, fishing and
bluegrass music.
Everett is survived by his
wife of almost 60 years, Marjorie (Dodge) Showalter, married
on July 12, 1950; son, Tim Showalter of North Liberty;
daughters, Cheryl (Stan) Webb of Cannon Falls, Minnesota and
Cherie (Court) Ehrhardt of Madison, North Carolina; six
grandchildren; six great-granddaughters; three
step-great-grandchildren; three
step-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madonna
(Jerry) Fox of Elma.
He was preceded in death
by two sons, Kim and Andy; his parents; and five siblings.
The Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
