Myrna Joyce Vikturek
Myrna Joyce Vikturek, 67 of Charles City, formerly of Nashua, died
Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Muse-Norris Hospice in Mason City.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at
St. John Lutheran Church, Nashua. Private family inurnment will be held
at the Horton Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the church

Donald E. Miller
Donald E. Miller, 79, of Alta Vista, died on Monday, July 5, 2010 at
Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 9, 2010 at
Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista with Reverend Kevin Frey officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Alta Vista with Michael Nehl, Jamie
Lechtenberg, Tommy Nehl, Brad Lechtenberg, Jason Lechtenberg, Mitch
Miller, Chris Lechtenber, and Nick Lechtenberg serving as casket
bearers. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Christy Roethler, Lynn Nehl,
Jessica Marzen, Toni Miller, Stacey Miller, Johnathan Miller, Ashley
Bennett, Samantha Bennett, Shelby Bennett, Coleman Bennett, Shawn Kuehn,

Donald Edward Miller was born on April 18, 1931 to Julius “Jake” and
Mamie (Schlesing) Miller near Alta Vista. He attended Wildwood
Country School near Alta Vista and graduated from Alta Vista High School
in 1949. Don continued to help on the family farm after
graduation. On August 21, 1955 he was united in marriage to Doris
Mae Gealow at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Rockwell, IA. After
their marriage they moved to the home farm which they later purchased.
Don spent many years milking cows, working for Sinnwell Elevator and
helping Reuben Friedrich and Don Bartles with farm work. Don
enjoyed fishing, dancing, and visiting with family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris of Alta Vista, IA; six
children, Vickie Nehl of Alta Vista, IA, Kathy (Donald) Lechtenberg of
Lawler, IA, Richard (Alice) Miller of New Hampton, IA, Wayne (LuAnn
Clubb)Miller of Sigourney, IA, Janine (Keith) Bennett of Wildomar, CA,
and Ronda (John) Kuehn of New Hampton, IA; 21 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis (Lois) Miller of Denver, IA,
and Kenny (Norma) Miller of Waterloo, IA; three brothers-in-law, Elmer (Clysta)
Gealow of Marshaltown, IA, Roger (Beverly) Gealow of Story City, IA, and
Don (Patty) Gealow of Mason City, IA; three sisters-in-law, Velma
Brannon of Greene, IA, Judy (Ed) Kohler of Buena Vista, CO, and Diane
(Greg) Riles of Sheffield, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius “Jake” and Mamie; one
son-in-law, Charles Nehl; two brothers-in-law, Jim Hill, and Emmett
Brannon; and one sister-in-law Melva Hill.

Bryce James Kamrath, age 16 of New Hampton, Iowa died Monday, July 5,
2010, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010,
at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Center, New Hampton with Msgr. Carl
Schmitt and Rev. John Barnes celebrating the Mass. Chris Carrier will be
the organist accompanying the Holy Family Resurrection Choir and Bob
Martin, cantor. Selections for the service include; "Be Not Afraid", "I
Have Loved You", "The Summons", "Loving and Forgiving" and "On Eagles
Wings". Lector will be Cory McDonald and presenting the offertory gifts
will be Garrett and Shane Shekleton.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton, with Nolan Boyd,
Joshua Samec, Seth Wegman, Brian Mahoney, Brandon Tenge and Jordon
Jackson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Garrett
Shekleton, Shane Shekleton and Dakota Sweitzer and all of his New
Hampton High School Class of 2013 classmates.

Bryce James Kamrath was born May 16, 1994, in Mendota, IL, the son of
Brad and Mary Beth (Shekleton) Kamrath Sr. He was a student at the New
Hampton High School and would be entering his sophomore year in the
fall. Bryce was involved in many school activities including football,
baseball and basketball. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching
movies, playing video games, riding jet ski, hanging out with his
friends, and competing with his brother, Brad, seeing who could catch
the most fish. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and
quick wit.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Beth Kamrath-Ovel and her husband
Kevin Ovel of New Hampton; one brother, Brad Kamrath of Iowa City; one
sister, Brigette Kamrath of New Hampton; maternal grandmother, Margaret
Shekleton of New Hampton; paternal grandparents, Fred (Rose) Kamrath of
Tiskilwa, IL; paternal step-grandmother, Pauline Ovel of New Hampton;
four uncles, Greg (Sheila) Shekleton, John Shekleton, Jr.,Dan (Kim) Ovel,
all of New Hampton, Jeff (Darce) Ovel of Chatfield, MN; three aunts,
Patrice (Brian) Ross of Vienna, VA, Shari (Jerry) Rocca of Waseca, MN,
Nancy (Stan) Van Wyk of Marshalltown, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bradley Kamrath Sr. in 2003;
maternal grandfather, Jack Shekleton; and paternal step-grandfather,
Walt Ovel.

Delores Marie Sullivan Otteson, 88, of Edinburg, TX, formerly of Nashua
and New Hampton died Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Aurora House Foundation
in Weslaco, TX.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at Sunnyside
Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Charles City.

Ida M. Kelly,
90, of Waverly, formerly of Plainfield, died Tuesday evening, July 13,
2010 at Bartel Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at St.
John Lutheran Church, Nashua with Elayne and Pastor Dave Werges
presiding. Interment will be held at Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield.
Pallbearers will be Brad Poppe, Brian Poppe, Lance Poppe, Mike Kelly,
Patrick Kelly, and Steve Koob. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Kelly,
Ashley Poppe, Jacob Poppe, Amanda Poppe, Brandon Poppe, Bryce Poppe,

Ida Marie Kelly was born March 7, 1920, in Hazelton, IA, the daughter of
Fred and Olga (Tonn) Koob. She received her education in Oelwein,
graduating the class of 1937. On June 21, 1942, Ida was united in
marriage to Boyd Kelly at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Waverly. To this
union, three children were born. Ida retired in 1984 from Land-O-Lakes
of Hudson, IA after 18 years of service. In her earlier years, she
enjoyed spending time on the golf course. She was an avid baker, never
afraid to try out a new recipe. She was an active member of St. John
Lutheran Church, and her priorities were always family and faith first.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Boyd; two sons, Richard
(Linda) Kelly of Boone, IA, Ron (Debra Landstrom) Kelly of New Bern, NC;
one daughter, Janet (Larry) Poppe of Plainfield; one sister, Edna
Sandrock of Curtis, OH; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Koob of Inman, SC,
and Irene Koob of Plainfield; eight grandchildren, and nine great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Arthur Koob in
infancy, Reuben Koob, Henry Koob, Leonard Koob, and Lloyd Koob; and one
sister, Mabel Gosse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to

Nicholas I. Finnegan
Nicholas I. Finnegan, 19, of Ionia, died Saturday July 17, 2010 at his
home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Wednesday July 21, 2010
at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, Iowa with Father Mark
Osterhaus celebrating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in
Ionia. Honorary casket bearers will be Patrick Finnegan, Joshua
Finnegan, Eric Salinas, Jon Ovel, Matt Sanford, and Seth Neitzke.
Serving as casket bearers will be Craig Bonfig, Brady Rausch, James
Gossling, Lucas Trewin, Alex Taylor, Eric Schmidt, Eddie Rausch, Ray
Zeien, Jacob Watson, Jordan Gansen.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday July 20, 2010, with a
scriptural wake service at 4:30 p.m. at Ionia Funeral Home in Ionia,
Iowa. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior
to the service on Wednesday.
Nicholas Ian Finnegan was born October 23, 1990 at Mercy Hospital in New
Hampton to Brian and Debbie (Arends) Finnegan. Nicholas attended New
Hampton Schools and was a 2009 graduate of New Hampton High School.
While attending high school Nicholas was employed at Theisens in New
Hampton. Upon graduating Nicholas was attending Hawkeye Community
College in Waterloo, Iowa. He was employed at Blains Farm and
Fleet in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Nicholas enjoyed paintballing, tubing,
canoeing, swimming, music, computers, video games, and snowmobiling.
He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and loved his pets. He was
interested in history. Nicholas also loved spending time with
family and friends.
Nicholas is survived by his parents, Brian and Debbie (Arends) Finnegan
of Ionia; his two brothers, Patrick Finnegan, and Joshua Finnegan, both
of Ionia; his paternal grandmother, Patsy Finnegan of Ionia; his
maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Edna (Gardine) Maderios of
Nevada, Iowa; his maternal grandfather, Roger Arends of Charles City,
Iowa; many aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph “Pat”
Finnegan; and his great-grandparents.
Dennis C. Sweitzer
Dennis C. Sweitzer, 44, of New Hampton, died on Saturday, July 17, 2010
at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010 at
Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Reverend Daniel Christensen
officiating. Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton with
Rob Usher, Mike Finnegan, Al Burgart, Mike Valdahl, Tim Anderson, Ted
Smith, Dale TIlkes, Doug Modrell, Brad Best, and Mike Miles serving as
casket bearers. Military rites will be provided by New Hampton’s
VFW Post #5238 and American Legion Post # 38.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 3 - 8 p.m. at Conway-Kolbet
Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at the

Dennis Clyde Sweitzer was born on July 3, 1966 to Gary and June (Hovick)
Sweitzer in New Hampton, Iowa. He attended New Hampton Public
Schools and was a 1985 graduate of New Hampton High School. After
graduating Dennis enlisted in the United States Army in 1985. He
was stationed in New Ulm, Germany until his honorable discharge in 1987.
Dennis went on to attend North Iowa Area Community College in Mason
City, Iowa, majoring in Mechanical Design Technology. Upon
graduation from college in 1990 Dennis worked as a draftsman for
Seebee’s in Hampton until 2003. He then worked for companies such
as, Woodharbor in Mason City and Northwood, New Hampton Metal
Fabrication, Universal Industries in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and most
recently, TriMark in New Hampton. On January 31, 2009 Dennis was
united in marriage to Donita (Hook) Landers. Dennis was a member
of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. He served as Chair of
Long-Range Planning at Trinity Lutheran. Dennis was also a member of a
small group Bible study in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the bowling league in
New Hampton. Dennis enjoyed boating, snorkeling, fishing, watching
ballgames, and visiting with family and friends. He loved spending
time at Clear Lake, eating ice cream and lasagna. Dennis was
active in the church, he had a strong faith and loved going to Klunder’s
Kafe on Sunday’s after church.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Donita of New Hampton, Iowa;
three stepsons, Trevor Landers of Waverly, Iowa, Karch Landers of New
Hampton, and Judd Landers of New Hampton; his mother, June Sweitzer of
New Hampton; one brother, John (Beth) Sweitzer of Mason City; one
sister, Carol (David) Hauser of New Hampton; two nephews Hayden and
Gatlin Hauser of New Hampton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Art and
Dorothy Hook of Charles City, Iowa, brothers-in-law, Bruce (Chris)
Eldridge of Charles City, Iowa, Lynn (Julie) Eldridge of Iowa
City, Iowa, Doug Hook of Dallas, Texas, and Dodd Hook of Bend, Oregon;
sisters-in-law, Kay (Joe) Fahl of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Darla (Matt)
McGettigan of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Sweitzer in 2008; paternal
grandparents, Clyde and Grace Sweitzer; and maternal grandparents John
and Ozelle Hovick.
