Sylvia Iverson, 82, of Lake Mills, died on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 4, at the North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills. The Rev. Randy Baldwin officiated. Burial was in the North Prairie Cemetery, with the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Maynard of Lake Mills; her daughter, Marsha and son-in-law, Blair Hansen of Des Moines; one brother, Vernon Gudmonson and his wife, Betty of Lake Mills; one sister-in-law, Ethel Gudmonson of Forest City; and several nieces and nephews.

Rodney M. Hall, 65

June 19, 2002

Rodney M. Hall, 65, formerly of Hanlontown, presently residing at Lake Jefferson, Cleveland, Minnesota and Sun City, Arizona, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, near his home at Lake Jefferson.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 14, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown. The Rev. Duane Everson officiated. Burial was in the Brush Point Cemetery in Hanlontown, with the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Lorean Hall of Cleveland, Minnesota; son, Ross M. Hall of Mankato, Minnesota; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and David Dey of Vacaville, California; grandchildren, Cameron and Kiersten; a brother and his wife, Lowell and Pat Hall of Hanlontown; a sister and her husband, Maxine and Harold Beckner of Clear Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert and Joy Topp


June 19, 2002

Robert and Joy Topp died on Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in a motor vehicle accident.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 17, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson. Pastors Wendy Trone and Joan Skyrme officiated.

Bob and Joy are survived by Joy's mother, Nadine Kelsey of West Union; son, Gregory Charles Topp of Watkinsville, Georgia; daughter, Robyn Rae Callanan of St. Charles, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christopher Neal Topp, Gabriele Joy Topp and Tharen Emanuel Callanan; son-in-law, Kevin Thomas Callanan and daughter-in-law, Carla Joyce Topp; Bob's two older sisters, Faye Buhrow of Nederland, Texas and Wanda Kennedy of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; as well as two nephews and two nieces.

June 19, 2002

Ronald W. Hartman, 60, of Crystal Lake, died on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 17, at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake. The Rev. Gary Marzolf officiated.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Crystal Lake; his son, Rick Hartman and his wife, Billie of Forest City; a daughter, Melinda Hartman of Algona; step-children, Cindy Rippentrop and her husband, Dennis of Charles City, Julie Jessen and her husband, Keith of Leland, James Holtorf of Sauk Center, Minnesota and Tim Holtorf and his wife, Amy of Spokane, Washington; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Sime and her husband, Dale of Northwood and Jean Helm and her husband, Virgil of Forest City; and many nieces and nephews.

Orpha J. Storby, 80, of Lake Mills, died on Sunday, June 16, 2002, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 20, at the Center Lutheran Church, rural Leland. The Rev. Thomas Rank will officiate. Burial will be in the Center Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8:00 p.m., today, Wednesday, June 19, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again one hour prior to the services at the church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Jim Fessler of Bella Vista, Arkansas and grandson, Christopher Pearson of Denver, Colorado; son, Lowell and grandsons, Matthew and Lucas of Lake Mills and Lowell's, fiancée, Judith Beltran of Mazatlan, Mexico; her son, David and his wife, Diane and grandson, Seth of Dallas, Oregon and granddaughter, Lissa and her husband, Frank Hoglund of Mesa, Arizona; brother, Orrin Bye and sister, Mae Wilds of Albert Lea, Minnesota; another brother, Clifford Bye and sister-in-law, Charlotte of Mankato, Minnesota; along with many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Ellen J. Book, 72, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at the Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City.

Survivors include her husband, Olaf Book of Forest City; her son, Doug Book of Forest City; her step-mother, Irene Homes of Vancouver, Washington; three brothers, Bob Homes of Surprise, Arizona, James Homes of Coos Bay, Oregon and Duane Reese of Colo; and a step-brother, Leroy Homes of Vancouver, Washington.

Patricia Glady Zobel, 90, of Fertile, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City.

Survivors include three daughters, Patty Ann Zobel of Fertile, Jane Johnson and husband, Joel of Fertile and Debbie Haugen and husband, Mike of Fertile; five grandchildren, Joely Bruns, Jasen Johnson, Justine Johnson, Darcy Van Horn and Bill Haugen; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Henry and Hazel Yokom of Fargo, North Dakota; a sister-in-law, Corrine Miller of Clear Lake; a brother-in-law, Lester Burtness of Fertile; and several nieces and nephews.

Rose Mae Denzel, 90, of Lakewood, Ohio, formerly of Mason City, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at the Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood, Ohio.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 22, at the Wayside Chapel at the First United Methodist Church, Mason City. The Rev. Jeff Dahlin will officiate.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in the name of Rose Mae Denzel.

Irene Schleusner Schmidt, 83

June 26, 2002

Irene Schleusner Schmidt, 83, of Belmond, died on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Dianna in Belmond, while under Hospice Care.

A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, June 24, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. Fr. David Beckman and Deacon Nick Schmit officiated. Burial was in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Garner. The Tenold-Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, DeEtta Tenold and her husband, Gary of Belmond and Dianna Erdman of Belmond; a son, Dr. Larry Schleusner and his wife, Pat of Las Vegas, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leone Fox of Waseca, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Paul Schleusner and Joe Schmidt; grandson, Wesley Ingwersen; sister, Bernadine; and brother, Kenneth.

Dagny Lenning, 93, formerly of Lake Mills, died on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the Bartel Eastern Star Home in Decorah.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 29, at the Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills. The Reverends Bill Peters and Christopher Lenning will officiate. Burial will be in the Bristol Cemetery, rural Joice, with the Mittelstadt Funeral Home of Lake Mills in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church.

Iva Lucille "Lucy" McDonald, 94, of Lake Mills, died on Monday, June 24, 2002, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., today, Wednesday, June 26, at the Salem Lutheran Church Chapel in Lake Mills. The Rev. Larry Rehlander will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church chapel.

Survivors include one brother, Charles Brue of Lake Mills; one brother-in-law, Dr. Paul Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her parents, Arden and Maxine Ryg of Manly; her daughter, Jennifer Bishop; two sons, Ronnie and Danny Bishop; her brother, Steve Ryg; her grandson, Samuel Bishop; a very special friend, Gerry Greenfield; and many close friends.

Harold M. "Moke" Ouverson, 86, of Fertile, died on Thursday, June 27, 2002, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 1, at the Church of Christ in Fertile. The Rev. Dennis Ganz officiated. Burial was in the Brush Point Cemetery, rural Fertile, with military honors conducted by the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ouverson of Fertile; three children, Mike Ouverson and his wife, Nancy of Worthington, Terry Ouverson of Herndon, Virginia and Kris Ouverson of Rochester, Minnesota; daughter-in-law Dixie Harrison of Centreville, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ouverson and James Ouverson of Centreville, Virginia, Tim Ouverson of Worthington and John McCormick of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Edna Hill of Forest City; along many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Dean and Carol Haugen of Fertile; and two nieces, Eva Danner of Mason City and Naomi Brand of Princeton, Minnesota.
