Elaine Elizabeth Chambers, 81

December 12, 2001

HEMET, CA-Elaine Elizabeth Chambers, 81, died in her home in Hemet, California, on Friday, November 9, 2001.

A private inurnment was held on Thursday, December 6, at the Corwith Cemetery, with Rev. Kim Gates of the United Methodist Church, officiating.

Elaine was born on March 19, 1920 at Corwith, the daughter of Ed and Myrtle Johnson Chambers.

She is survived by a sister, Margaret Foreman of Hemet, California; and two nieces, Cathy Rado of Bloomington, California and Wendy Orona of Grand Terraces, California.

Ronald M. Russ, 64

December 5, 2001

CRYSTAL, MN-Ronald M. Russ, 64, of Crystal, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2001, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 24, at the Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home in New Hope. Father Tim Deutsch officiated. Burial was in the Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Irene; daughters, Debra Cashman of Erie, Colorado and Brenda Russ of Minneapolis; son, Daniel and his wife, Kim of Minneapolis; one granddaughter, Kelly Cashman; three grandsons, Phil, Talon and Jake Russ; two sisters, Lou Ann Van Gerpen and her husband, Peter and Pat Eastvold and her husband, Allen; his stepfather, Odin Johnson of Blue Earth; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Richard Slattum, 73

December 5, 2001

JOICE-Richard D. Slattum, 73, of Joice, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at his home.

Memorial services were held on Monday, December 3, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice. The Rev. Bill Peters officiated. Burial was in the Concordia Cemetery, rural Joice, with the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his daughters, Amy and her husband, Jim Twetten of Ames and Ada and her husband, Mike Larson of Red Wing, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Mindy and Tanner Twetten of Ames and Josh, Tony and Travis Larson of Red Wing; two brothers, Cecil Slattum and his wife, Barbara and Darrel Slattum and his wife, Mary; three sisters, Verna and her husband, Floyd Skellenger, Shirley and her husband, Kenneth Chodur and Norma and her husband, Jerry Alvey.; along with several brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

FOREST CITY-Ronald L. McClement, 88, of Forest City, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at his home. 

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 1, at the Forest City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Marzolf officiated.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, John and Carol McClement of Forest City; three grandsons, Chad, Josh and Travis McClement; and four great-grandchildren, Raven, Brett, Spenser and Garrett.

Fred L. Jilek, 83

December 5, 2001

MASON CITY-Fred L. Jilek, 83, of Mason City, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 1, at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel in Mason City. The Rev. Jeff Dahlin of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City officiated. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with military honors by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Jilek of Mason City; four children, Terry Jilek and his wife, Linda of Waukee, Jimmy Jilek of Mason City, Fredde Jilek of Mason City and Mary Willer and her husband, John of Mason City; five grandchildren, Rob Jilek and his wife, Laurie of St. Peters, Missouri, Tim Jilek and his wife, Melissa of Carona, California, Michael Willer of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Tracy Boehmer and her husband, Kevin of Mason City and Abbe Kramer of Scottsdale, Arizona; six great-grandchildren, Tad Jilek, Collin Jilek, Madison Jilek, Jordan Jilek, Joey Ayala and Zachary Willer; one brother, Albert Jilek and his wife, Henrietta of Butler, Missouri; and two sisters, Annamae Donnadin of Chicago, Illinois and Shirley Mello of Clinton, Maryland.

Eva Jensen, 87

December 5, 2001

BUFFALO CENTER-Eva Jensen, 87, of Buffalo Center, died on Thursday, November 29, 2001, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 3, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. The Rev. Lois Abel officiated. Burial was in the Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center, with the Winter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert of Buffalo Center; two daughters, Audrey and her husband, Richard Hartmann of San Marcos, California and Karen and her husband, Russell Buss of Woden; nine grandchildren, Darrin Jensen and his wife, Julie, Chad Jensen, Christopher Jensen and his wife, Susan, Jesse Jensen, Robert Hartmann, Todd Hartmann and his wife, Debbie, Jodi and her husband, Brad Almelien, Jill and her husband, Randy Melz and Michael Buss and his wife, Tanya; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Rositzke; and one half-brother, Kenny Wallien.

Darlene Ann Ricklefs, 71

December 5, 2001

TITONKA-Darlene Ann Ricklefs, 71, of Titonka, died on Friday, November 30, 2001, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., today, Wednesday, December 5, at the Ramsey Reformed Church, rural Titonka. The Rev. Dennis Redeker will officiate.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon of Titonka; children, Gayle and husband, Mark Mayer of Spirit Lake, Donna and husband, Ronald Irlmeier of Manning, Veryl Ricklefs of Titonka, Kristin and husband, Dale Gerdes of Forest City and Michael Ricklefs and wife, Denise of Webster City; 12 grandchildren; brother, Robert Seefeld of Wesley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
