June 5, 2001

LAKE MILLS-Agnes B. Gunderson, 89, of Lake Mills, died on Friday, June 1, 2001, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 4, at the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland. The Reverend Merlin Norris officiated. Burial was in the Forest Home Cemetery, Leland.

Survivors include her two children, Donna and her husband, Robert Brekken of Mission, Texas and Siren, Wisconsin and Gary Gunderson and his wife, Sandra of Bullhead City, Arizona; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bernice and her husband, Harold Engebritson of Scarville, Audrey and her husband, Robert Boekelman of Titonka, Judy and her husband, Orlo Sorenson of Manhattan, Kansas and Avis and her husband, Al Weringa of Elmore, Minnesota; one brother, Arthur Johnson and his wife, Lavina of Sandwich, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Lillian Johnson of Clinton; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Helen T. Bonninger, 93

June 19, 2001

THOMPSON-Helen T. Bonninger, 93, formerly of Thompson, died on Monday, June 4, 2001, in Boulder, Colorado. She had been ill for several years. 

Committal services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 19, in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including Norma Fulton of Clear Lake, Dorothy Twito of Lake Mills, Glenn Willis of Clear Lake and Don Anderson of Forest City.

Iven Richard Norstrud Jr., 58

June 12, 2001

BRITT-Iven Richard Norstrud Jr., 58, of Britt, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at his home of cancer, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 9, at the First Baptist Church in Forest City. The Reverends Bill Robertson and Greg Wirtjes officiated.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of Britt; daughters, Tamara and husband, Randy Oetlchen of Gladbrook, Debra and husband, David Eickhoff of Maxwell, Laura and husband, Thomas Minehart of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Cheryl Olson of Corwith; a son, Davin Norstrud of Britt; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his parents, Iven and Florence Norstrud of Britt; a sister, Parnola Jean Hochhaus of Grapevine, Texas; and a brother, Terry Norstrud of Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Bruce K. Hanna, 67

June 12, 2001

WODEN-Bruce K. Hanna, 67, of Woden, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. 

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 8, at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Woden. The Rev. Arlen Lloyd officiated.

He is survived by his wife, Doryce of Woden; three daughters, Lori Hanna of Seattle, Washington, Tammy Johnson and her husband, Scott of Britt and Lisa Swingen and her husband, Doug of Woden; four grandchildren; one sister, Betty Buns and her husband, Kenneth of Woden; a brother-in-law, Clarence Watson of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.

LAKE MILLS-Victoria A. Thompson, 89, of Lake Mills, died on Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 14, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. The Rev. Roger Dykstra officiated. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery

Survivors include her children, Kenneth Thompson of Jackson, Georgia, Sharon Gahman of Des Moines, Arleen and her husband, Edward Novotny of Garrettsville, Ohio, Susan and her husband, Allen Dolen of Bettendorf, Roger Thompson and his wife, Cheryl of Des Moines and James Thompson and his wife, Kathy of Lake Mills; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Thompson of Mesa, Arizona; her twin brother, Victor Nelson and his wife, Helen of Albert Lea, Minnesota; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Anthony "Tony" Abrahamson, 17

June 19, 2001

NORTHWOOD-Anthony "Tony" Abrahamson, 17, of Northwood, died on Sunday, June 10, 2001, as the result of a drowning accident.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 15, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. The Reverend Doug Domokos of the Word of Faith Dominion Church will officiate. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Dumont. Visitation was from 4-6:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again one hour before the services at the church.

GARNER-Dr. W. J. Mack, 79, of Garner, died on Monday, June 11, 2001, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 15, at the United Methodist Church in Garner. The Rev. Kay Hooper officiated.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Mack of Garner; five children, Elizabeth Betsy Barker and her husband, Doug of Fairfield, California, Wilmoth James Bill Mack II of Waterbury, Connecticut, Mary Mack and her special friend, Dan Conner of Greeley, Coloradp, Scott Smith of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Nancy Ethington and her husband, Greg of Lake Mills; and five grandchildren.

FOREST CITY-Martha Worsley Lane, 86, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001.

Survivors include her children, Dick Worsley and wife, Paula of Fertile, Bill Worsley and wife, Maxine of Clear Lake, Betty Houg of Cumming, Kenneth Lane and wife, Esther of Escondido, California and Jack Lane and wife, Madalene of Norwalk; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild soon to join the family; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Bertie Beals and husband, Joe of Cherokee and Lea Buenger and husband, Freddie of Preston, Minnesota.

GOLDFIELD-Howard G. McCutcheon, 73, of Goldfield, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, as the result of an auto accident.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 15, at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Goldfield; three daughters, Jayne and husband, Larry Frederickson of Omaha, Nebraska, Barbara and husband, Bruce Immele of Louisville, Colorado and Kathleen and husband, Gary Snyder of Lexington, Kentucky; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Faith Tiner of Cutchoque, New York and Marjorie Kohout of Mount Vernon.

FOREST CITY-Funeral services for Emma Anna Jensen Eames, 89, of Forest City, were held today, Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the Civic Auditorium in Forest City. Dean Swenson, Vernon Spinner and Jason Sweazy officiated.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Bob and wife, Sharon of Forest City; a daughter, Lois Turner and husband, Darrell of Iola, Kansas; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

FOREST CITY-Eleanor Leach, 90, of Forest City, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2001.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 18, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. The Rev. Lee Laaveg officiated.

Survivors include three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Woods of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Alma Hovey of Forest City; and several nieces and nephews.

Mike Kadlecik Jr., 44

June 19, 2001

CRYSTAL LAKE-Mike Kadlecik Jr., 44, of Crystal Lake, lost his battle with cancer and died on Thursday, June 14, 2001, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 18, at the Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka High School in Crystal Lake. The Rev. Robert Snitzer officiated.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila of Crystal Lake; four children, Trinity Rolling and his fiancée, Courtney of Fairmont, Minnesota, Brandi Rolling of Crystal Lake, Brooks Rolling of Bancroft and Danielle Rolling of Crystal Lake; one granddaughter; his mother, Mabel Kadlecik of Britt; five brothers and two sisters, Ronald Kadlecik of Connecticut, Denny Aukes of Forest City, James Kadlecik of Virginia, Rodney Aukes of Arkansas, Sherry Cook of Nevada, Iowa, Gary Kadlecik of Forest City and Marsha Kadlecik of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Allison Port, 30

June 19, 2001

CAMBRIDGE, MINNESOTA-Allison Port, 30 - year-old daughter of former Forest City residents, Rev. Terry and Sherill Port, died in her home on Saturday, June 16, 2001.

Her parents now live in Cambridge, Minnesota. Port was a 1988 graduate of the Forest City High School and most recently had been working as an internal auditor for Lutheran Brotherhood in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Joseph Westby, 94

July 11, 2001

CLARION-Joseph Gerhard Westby, 94, of Clarion, died on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Clarion Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 15, at the Highland Prairie Church near Rushford, Minnesota. Inurnment will be in the Highland Prairie Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter, Margaret Wold and husband, John of Evanston, Illinois; two granddaughters, Sarah Wold of Seattle, Washington and Megan Osteboe and husband, Thor of Woodstock, Illinois; and a great-grandson, Gunnar Osteboe of Woodstock, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Luther College in Decorah.

Arrangements are provided by the Willim Funeral Home in Clarion and the Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, Minnesota.
