James "Jim" W. Griswold,
age 82, of Osage, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the
Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 4, at the Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. Anna Blaedel officiating.
Burial was in the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the
grave by the Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation was
from 5-7:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral
Home in Osage.
He was born on May 27,
1926 in Osage, the son of Harry Delos and Anna (Wolff)
Griswold. Jim attended the Osage Schools. He served in the
U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean
Conflict. Jim lived in Dilworth, Minnesota and drove auto
transports for 33 years, until retiring and moving to Osage.
He was a member of the
Osage American Legion and the V.F.W. Club in Moorhead,
Minnesota.
Jim is survived by a
sister, Janice Hogan of Osage; and cousins.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; an infant brother, Edward; and a
brother-in-law, Marshall Hogan.
Funeral arrangements were

Kenneth C. Martin
April 7, 2009
Kenneth Martin, age 77, of
Riceville, passed away at his residence in rural Riceville,
on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
Funeral services were held
on Monday, April 6, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church in Riceville, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ray E.
Atwood officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in
Riceville, Iowa.
Kenneth C. Martin, was
born in Osage, Iowa, on May 30, 1931, the son of Cycil and
Ruth (Rogers) Martin. He attended and graduated from the
McIntire School in 1949. Ken served his country for two
years in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Denver, Colorado,
he met Janice Lammers. They were united in marriage on June
2, 1956, at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester,
Minnesota. Kenneth farmed his entire life in Jenkins
Township, outside of Riceville, Iowa. He also worked for the
REA as a meter reader and as a correspondent for the
Waterloo Courier.
Ken and Janice enjoyed
dancing to country music and the Buck Hollow Band. He always
raised cattle, enjoyed reading, visiting with friends and
neighbors, was a great storyteller and was ready to lend a
helping hand to all. Ken and Jan always looked forward to
Country Fest music and friends.
Survivors include his six
children, Laurie (Dan) Schwarck of Riceville, Cathy Martin
of Shell Rock, Doug (Sue) Martin of Postville, Kellie (Tim)
Martin of Bettendorf, Amy (Duane) Walther of Denver, Iowa
and Lisa Smith of Lime Springs; 13 grandchildren, Brad,
Mike, Anthony, Alyssa Schwarck, Brittany, David Martin,
Julia, Jenna Martin, Dylan, Kyle, Aaron Walther Phillip and
Lauren Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Madison, Macie
and Calhan.
Kenneth was preceded in
death by his parents; his wife, Janice on September 22,
2008; and his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Hildred
Lammers.

Evangeline Landherr
April 7, 2009
Evangeline Landherr, 90,
of Stacyville, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009,
at the Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral services will be
held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 8, at the Visitation
Catholic Church in Stacyville, with the Rev. John Moser
officiating. Burial will follow in the Visitation Catholic
Cemetery, Stacyville. Visitation is on Tuesday, April 7,
from 4-8:00 p.m., at the Visitation Church, Stacyville, with
a Rosary Service at 4:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00
p.m.
Evangeline was born on
August 4, 1918, in Johnsburg, Minnesota, to Fred and Julia
(Smith) Gerber. She grew up on a farm near Johnsburg. On
October 14, 1944, she was married to Wilmer Landherr in
Johnsburg. She spent her entire married life on the farm
west of Stacyville.
Evangeline enjoyed
gardening, sewing, cooking, baking and attending auction
sales with Wilmer in her later years. She resided the last 5
years of her life in Marion with her son, Ron and his wife,
Audrey.
Evangeline is survived by
five sons and five daughters, James of Cedar Rapids, Ronald
(Audrey) of Marion, Mary Jean (David) Johnson of Dewitt,
Janet (Dwight, Sr.) Jorgensen of St. Ansgar, Kathryn (Wayne)
Halvorson of Chatfield, Minnesota, Thomas (Elaine) Landherr
and Harold (Vicki) Landherr, both of Stacyville, Annette
Hagen (special friend, Dennis Stauffacher) of Northwood,
Ruth (James) Dieterich of Galesburg, Illinois and John
(Annette) Landherr of Marshalltown; 32 grandchildren; 25
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Armstrong of
Fairfax, Virginia, Helen Noterman of Adams, Minnesota and
Mary Brumm of Stacyville; two brothers, Adrian (Elaine)
Gerber and Roger (Mary) Gerber, both of Adams, Minnesota;
and sisters-in-laws, Velma Matheis of Adams, Minnesota,
Elizabeth Landherr of LeRoy, Minnesota, Louise Landherr of
Austin, Minnesota and Nancy Landherr of Brownsdale,
Minnesota.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Wilmer; son-in-law, Bob Hagen;
grandchildren, Michelle Johnson, Mark Jorgensen and Daniel
Hagen; and two sisters and four brothers who died in
infancy.

Beverly Jean Griga

Beverly Jean Griga, 68, of
St. Ansgar, died on Monday April 6, 2009, at the Hospice of
North Iowa, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Osage, after
a short illness.
Funeral services will be
held on Saturday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick
officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 4-7:00 p.m., at the
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
Beverly Jean Wolff, was
born on August 28, 1940 in Iowa City, the daughter of Ted
and Ruth (Hobbs) Wolff. She attended the St. Ansgar High
School. Bev was united in marriage to John "Jack" Luce on
December 17, 1957 in Marengo, Iowa. They lived in Marengo
until moving to St. Ansgar. They were blessed with four
children. Bev worked at the Good Samaritan Center for 37
years until the time of her death. Bev was united in
marriage to Don Griga on July 24, 1993.
Bev enjoyed making salads
for graduations, wedding or different holidays. She also
enjoyed making different foods for all of her fellow workers
at the nursing home. Bev loved to cook big meals. Bev had
many collections, her favorite being Angels. Bev loved
holidays and family gatherings. She was a member of the
Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Ted and Ruth Wolff; brother, Gary Wolff;
brother-in-law, Raymond Power; and her mother and
father-in-law.
Bev is survived by her
husband, Don; children, Jeffery (Pam) Luce of Hillsboro,
Ohio, Darrell Luce of St. Ansgar, Jaclyn (Robert) Arnold of
Rochester, Minnesota and Debbie Luce of St. Charles,
Minnesota; grandchildren, Merideth, Christina and Jeffery
Luce of Ohio, Misty (Matt) Dugstad of Albert Lea, Minnesota,
Brandon (Kristine) Luce of Emmons, Minnesota, Josh Anhorn
and Cody Christensen of St. Charles, Minnesota; four
great-grandchildren, Dawson, Alexia, Kyla and Aidan; one
sister, Carol Power of St. Ansgar; brother-in-law, David
(Sally) Griga of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Shirley (Doug)
Stille of Akines, Minnesota; and several nieces, nephews,
aunt, cousins, many dear friends and her special dog,
Duchess.

Ruberta Quarn

Ruberta
Aliene Quarn, age 88, of Osage, died on Wednesday, April 15,
2009, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in
Osage.
Memorial services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 20, at the First United
Methodist Church in Osage, with Rev. Anna Blaedel
officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery. There
will be a gathering of family and friends from 6-8:00 p.m.,
on Sunday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Ruberta
was born on May 13, 1920, on a farm near Alexander, Iowa,
the daughter of Henry and Lena (Eden) Greenfield. She
attended grade school in Alexander and Rudd. Ruberta spent
part of her high school years at the Rudd High School and
graduated from the Osage High School in 1937. She married
Lorne Quarn on July 31, 1943 at Mason City, Iowa. They lived
in Cherokee and Charles City before moving to Osage in 1946.
Ruberta worked as a bookkeeper, waitress and distributed
records for jukeboxes. She was employed as a
secretary/tax-preparer for Kratchmer Law Firm for many
years.
Ruberta was a member of
the First United Methodist Church in Osage. She enjoyed
traveling, reading and cooking.
Ruberta
is survived by her husband, Lorne Quarn of Osage; her
daughter, Pat (Dave) Ehresman of Arden Hills, Minnesota; a
brother, Duaine (Jane) Greenfield of Horseshoe Bend,
Arkansas; a sister, Careldena Shanks of Rudd; grandchildren,
Christopher Bartlett of New York, New York and Sara
Wakefield of Irvine, California; 1 great-granddaughter,
Riley Lorne Wakefield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Roger Shanks.

Richard J. Nack
April 17, 2009
Richard James Nack, age
70, of Grafton, died on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at his
home.
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 20, at the Emmanuel
Lutheran Church in Grafton, with Rev. Wayne Ellingson and
Irmgard Ellingson, Associate in Ministry, officiating.
Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery. Visitation will be
from 4-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral
Home in Osage.
Richard was born on March
15, 1939, to Wilmer and Olga (Bartz) Nack of Grafton. He was
baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in
Grafton. Richard graduated from the Grafton High School in
1957. He lived his entire life near Grafton. On June 12,
1960, Richard married Charlotte Strong of Mason City. To
this union, two daughters were born, Tamara "Tami" and
Barbara "Barb". Richard farmed and ran a bin construction
company, "Nack Brothers" with his brother, Robert. He
retired from farming in 1987 and then worked at the Grafton
Co-Op Fertilizer plant until retiring in 2002.
Richard enjoyed traveling,
the many cats he adopted, going to Canada in his motor home
and gardening. This was evident by the hundreds of tomato
plants he grew each year and all of the other vegetables he
loved sharing with others. Richard was always willing to
help others out and his generosity will be remembered. He
was very proud of his grandchildren and they all have
special memories of "Grandpa Nack." Richard was a member of
the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Grafton Community
Action. He served on the board of directors of the Grafton
Housing Committee for many years.
Richard is survived by his
daughters, Tamara (Jerry) Hemann of Osage and Barbara
(Leland) Meitner of St. Ansgar; his eight grandchildren,
Brandon (Crystal) Meitner, Amanda (Mark) Luna, Hailey
Meitner, Brittaney and Blair Wilde, Matthew, Stephanie and
Ryan Hemann; great-grandson, Reece Meitner-Luna and a
great-granddaughter on the way; three
step-great-grandchildren, Marcus, Jakob and Haylee Luna;
sister, Ramona (Alvin) Meyer of Austin, Minnesota;
sisters-in-law, Laurie Nack Bublitz of Grafton, Darlene
(Robert) Fredrickson of Mason City, Linda (Terry) Barnhart
of Buffalo, Wyoming and Denise (Bill) French of Buffalo
Center; one aunt, Ione (Clarence) Kruse of Hampton; and many
cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Charlotte on October 25, 2005; his parents;
step-mother, Alice Nack; and two brothers, William "Billy"
and Robert.

Denise M. Loden
April 21, 2009
Denise M. Loden, formerly Denise Roll, age 56, of Osage,
died on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Mercy Medical
Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral services were held
at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 21, at the Faith Lutheran
Church in Mitchell, with Rev. Wayne Ellingson and Irmgard
Ellingson, Associate in Ministry officiating. Burial was in
the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell.
Denise was born on
February 12, 1953 in Osage, the daughter of Robert "John"
and Dorothy "Ileen" (Grimm) Mostek. She enjoyed nature,
flowers, gardening, animals, camping, fishing and crossword
puzzles. Denise, who had a wonderful sense of humor, was a
very loving and generous person. Her life revolved around
her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her
grandchildren.
Denise is survived by her
husband, Michael Loden of Osage; her daughter, Nikki Roll of
Osage; her son, Christopher (Lindy) Gerk of Colorado
Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren, Tristen and Ashten
Gerk; her mother, Ileen Mostek of Osage; two sisters,
Colleen Martin and friend, Dave Altick of Lead, South Dakota
and Mary Mostek of LeRoy, Minnesota; two brothers, Mark
Mostek of Mitchell and Michael (Sue) Mostek of Greene; and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her father, Robert "John" Mostek on March 22, 2004; and
her cousin, Mindy Meyerhofer.

Joan Hoagland
May 5, 2009
MAPLETON-Joan Hoagland,
49, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away at her home in the
presence of her loving husband, daughters and sisters, on
Saturday, April 18, 2009. She fought a courageous
two-and-one-half year battle against breast cancer. In the
end she left this world for a far more beautiful place.
There was a private family
burial. This was followed by a service at 11:00 a.m., on
Tuesday, officiated by Monsignor Mark Duchaine at the Maple
Valley-Anthon Oto High School Gym in Mapleton. A memorial
breakfast was held at 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the High
School Commons.
Joan was a loving mother,
wife, friend, and teacher. She was an inspiration to
everyone she met. She faced her illness with a strength and
humor, always concerned how others were doing. Joan was born
on October 14, 1959, to Joseph and Colleen (Blandin)
Kloberdanz in Osage, Iowa. She attended Ellsworth Community
College and the University of Northern Iowa, where she
earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.
Joan was married to David Hoagland on June 21, 1986, at the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. She was blessed with
two wonderful daughters, Katie and Laura. Her girls were her
pride and joy and her reason for living.
Joan began her teaching
career as a kindergarten teacher in Manilla, Iowa. She went
on to work at the Boys and Girls Home in Sioux City, then
taught kindergarten in Danbury, Iowa and also worked as a
director at the Playmates Preschool in Onawa, Iowa. Joan
worked for Maple Valley Elementary School as a third-grade
teacher for the past nine years. During that time, she
brought her wonderful sense of humor and her caring
personality to her students and their families.
Joan enjoyed life to the
fullest. She loved her annual summer trips to Okoboji with
"the girls," going on boat rides and pretending to be young.
She loved her shopping trips with her sisters and friends.
There was nothing she enjoyed more than finding a bargain.
She also enjoyed creating scrapbooks for her family to
enjoy. Every time her family and friends see a dragonfly,
they will think of Joan. She was a member of the St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Mapleton, Iowa.
Joan is survived by her
husband, David Hoagland; her daughters, Katie and Laura of
Mapleton, Iowa; her sisters, Nancy Monroe and husband, Bob
of Odenton, Maryland and Dianne Klinker and husband, Bill
and their sons, Thor, Knute and Gunnar of Primghar, Iowa;
her brother, Brian Kloberdanz and wife, Susan and their
children, Abby, Drew and Claire of St. Charles, Illinois;
her mother-in-law, Phyllis Franken of Odebolt; her
brothers-in-law, Gregg Hoagland and wife, Sherri and their
sons, Jonathan and Zachary of Carroll and Barry Hoagland and
his daughter, Brittany of Ankeny.
Joan was preceded in death
by her father, Joseph Kloberdanz; her mother, Colleen
Kloberdanz; and her brother, Kevin Kloberdanz from Osage.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations be made to the Joan Hoagland
Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Reuben A. Anhorn

West Des Moines-Reuben A.
Anhorn, 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. In lieu
of flowers, memorials may be given to the Animal Life Line
of Iowa or the Hospice of Central Iowa.
He was a WW II veteran and
served under General Patton.
Reuben enjoyed gardening,
bowling, crosswords was a professional T.V. viewer and was a
Cubs fan. He was very devoted to his family.
Reuben will be missed by
his wife, Eve; children, David Anhorn of St. Petersburg,
Florida, Douglas Anhorn of Atlanta, Georgia and Cheri
(Oscar) Swanson of Winterset; granddaughter, Amanda Swanson
of Urbandale; grandson, Oscar Swanson II of Winterset; and
sisters, Berneice Volk and Darlene (Bob) Thompson.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; and brothers, Sonny and Lyle (Slug).

Roberta "Bert"
Hanson

Roberta "Bert" Hanson, age
72, of Osage, died on Friday, April 24, 2009, at the
Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Memorial services were
held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 27, at the United
Church of Christ in Osage, with Pastor Ruth Moerdyk
officiating.
Bert was born on June 13,
1936 in Algona, the daughter of Frank and Ada (Beitz) Smith.
She married Raymond Hanson on February 19, 1954 in Bethany,
Missouri. Bert enjoyed making her homemade crafts, fishing
and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband
and family. Bert especially enjoyed decorating during the
holiday seasons.
Bert is survived by her
husband, Raymond Hanson of Osage; three children, Raymond
Jr. (Donna) Hanson of Little Cedar, Penny (Mike) Counsell of
Osage and Joseph Hanson of Osage; six grandchildren, Nina
Hempy, Matt (Holley) Counsell, Mike and Jason Hanson,
Jessica and Caitlin Hanson; four great-grandchildren, Dylan,
Brannon, Bodey and Mason; a sister, Violet Pergande of
Clarion; and a brother, Eric (Carolyn) Smith of Emmetsburg.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; a brother, Martin Smith; a sister, Alice
Kollasch; and her infant son, Ronald Hanson.

June A. Metz

June A. Metz, age 78, of
Osage, died on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the Faith Lutheran
Home in Osage.
Memorial services will
be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 7, at the First
United Methodist Church in Osage, with Rev. Anna Blaedel
officiating. All community members are invited to join in
singing the "Alleluia" chorus at the memorial service. There
will be a time for lunch and fellowship following the services
at the church.
June was born on June 26,
1930 in Osage, the daughter of Dale and Hazel (Moody)
Clyde. She married John P. Metz on August 27, 1949 in
Arkansas. June worked as an area news correspondent for over
25 years and was the host of the "Osage Open House" on KGLO
Radio.
She was a life long member of the First United
Methodist Church in Osage, where she sang in the choir and
served on numerous committees. She was also a member of the
Osage V.F.W. Auxiliary. June served as Director of the Osage
Chamber of Commerce. She was active in many volunteer
activities and had a great love for the city of Osage.
Her body was donated to
the Mayo Clinic for scientific purposes.
June is survived by a
daughter, Tamara (Joe) Washington of Lakeville, Minnesota; four
sons, John P. (Joanne) Metz, III of Crescent, Captain
Michael Metz of Houma, Louisiana, Shane (Mary) Metz of Dike
and Logan
Metz of Mason City; eleven grandchildren, Nikole (Eric) Gast
of Osage, Michelle (Jon) Smith of Osage, Michael Metz, Jr.
of Westville, Indiana, Tara (Nick) Kane of Cedar Falls,

Claire Schoenborn

Claire Rosenquist
Schoenborn, age 80, of Osage, died on Tuesday, April 28,
2009, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 1, at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. John Moser
officiating. Visitation is from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m., on
Thursday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage,
with a scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m. Private inurnment
services will be held in the St. Peter's Cemetery in New
Haven.
Claire was born in
Seattle, Washington, to Arthur and Selma (Krogstad)
Rosenquist on April 26, 1929. The family moved to Osage in
1931, where Claire attended school, graduating in 1947.
Following graduation, she worked at the local telephone
company. Claire was united in marriage to Donald Schoenborn
at the St. Edward's Church Rectory in Sioux City, Iowa on
May 29, 1947. They had five children, Pamela, Carol, Geri,
Mary Kay and Edward. Claire retired in 1997 after 27 years
with the Mitchell County Home Health Service.
She was an active member
of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American Legion
Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, past officer of the Family and
Friends Association of Opportunity Village, a volunteer at
the Faith Home and a former mentor in the Bridges Mentoring
Program.
Claire is survived by
three daughters, Carol Grimm of Osage, Geri (Darwin)
Thompson of St. Ansgar and Mary Kay Schoenborn of Clear
Lake; one son, Edward (Janna) Schoenborn of Santee,
California; eight grandchildren, Vicki (Kenny) Low, Heath
(Angela) Grimm and Chris Grimm, Kyle and Erin Thompson,
Derek, Kayla and Dane Schoenborn; five great-grandchildren,
Stephanie, Allison and Ryan Low, Emma and Leah Grimm; one
brother, Richard (Jill) Rosenquist of Sebastopol,
California; a brother-in-law, Lionel Eubanks of Chicago,
Illinois; one nephew; and four nieces.
Preceding her in death was
her husband, Donald in 2005; an infant daughter, Pamela; her
parents, Arthur and Selma Rosenquist; an infant brother,
Dale; her son-in-law, Ralph Grimm; and a sister-in-law, Irma
Eubanks.

Florence Mosch

Florence Mosch, 92 passed
away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Funeral services were held
at the St. Martin's Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama and at the
Peterson Funeral Home in Buffalo, Minnesota. She will be
laid to rest with her parents, brother and sister in the
Osage Cemetery in Osage.
Florence was the daughter
of Lars and Gudina Larsen, immigrant bakers from Norway who
owned the bakery in Osage during the 30's & 40's. Florence
was born in Washburn, Wisconsin on August 2, 1916. As a
member of the 'Greatest Generation' she persisted through
serious illness including scarlet fever and polio. She
recovered to walk again and serve during World War II
working in various factories producing bullets and aircraft
instruments for Honeywell. Florence married Sevryn Lewis of
Rockford, Iowa in 1944 having one son. The family moved to
Buffalo, Minnesota, in 1947 and then moved to Florida in
1950, where Florence lived until 1966 following the death of
her husband, Sevryn in 1960. Sevryn is buried in Osage.
Moving back to Buffalo, Florence met Martin Mosch a widower
and old friend from before the war. They married in 1967
living in Waverly, Minnesota, until he passed away in
December of 1986. Their marriage provided many happy
memories including travel in the United States and their
favorite pass times of gardening and square dancing.
Following the death of her
sister, Gertrude Erickson in late 1994 she moved to St.
Martin's Assisted Living of Birmingham, Alabama in 1996, to
be close to her son and his family. As her disabilities
increased, her family also increased to include the many
caregivers at St. Martin's. Although the dementia stole her
memories and physical abilities, Florence continued to
maintain a cheerful attitude and concern for those around
her. The quality of care given by the staff at St. Martin's
provided her with an extended family who helped to maintain
the highest quality of life possible.
She is survived by her
son, Roger A. Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama; three
grandchildren, Tracie L. Kinard of Mobile, Alabama, Lyndie
K. Lewis and Scott A. Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama; six
step-children, Marilyn Farden, Sandy Kral, Roger Mosch, Dick
Mosch, Beverly Stassen and Geri Horsch; 23
step-grandchildren; 40 step-great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren. Many who are living in Minnesota.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; brothers, Theodore and Leonard Larsen; a
sister, Gertrude Erickson; husbands, Sevryn A. Lewis and
Martin Mosch.

William "Bill" Mayer, age
81, of Riceville, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the
Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass was held at
the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, on
Saturday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood
officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in
Riceville, with military honors. The Lindstrom Funeral Home,
Riceville, was in charge of the arrangements.

LaVonne
Idella Gutches, age 96, of Mesa, Arizona, died on Thursday,
April 30, 2009, at the Citadel Care Center in Mesa.
Graveside services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 11, 2009, in the Osage
Cemetery, with Pastor Ruth Moerdyk officiating. There will
be a time for lunch and fellowship at the United Church of
Christ, Osage, following the graveside service. Funeral
arrangements were made by the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.
