Diann Marie (French) Krietemeyer, age
55, of Evansville, Indiana, formerly of Osage, died on
Friday, February 1, 2008, at the St. Mary's Hospital in
Evansville, Indiana.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday,
February 12, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage,
with Rev. John Moser officiating. Inurnment will be in the
Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. A gathering of friends and
relatives will be held from 4-7:00 p.m., on Monday, February
11, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a
scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
Diann
was born on February 27, 1952 in Osage, the daughter of
James and Mary Helen (Gerhartz) French. She committed the
longest part of her life to being a loving wife and partner
to husband, David and mother and special care-giver to her
son, John. Diann especially enjoyed spending time with her
family and friends, reading, working puzzles, and traveling.
She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic
Church in Daylight, Indiana.
Diann
is survived by her husband, David of Evansville, Indiana;
son, John of Evansville Indiana; mother, Mary Helen French
of Osage; sister, Cathy French of Osage; and brothers, John
French and Gary French, both of Charles City.
She was preceded in death
by her father, James French; and a brother, Bob French.
Funeral arrangements were

Blanche Olive Smith
February 6, 2008
Blanche Olive (Anderson) Smith, age 89, of rural Riceville,
died on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the Riceville Family
Care and Therapy Center in Riceville, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at the Riceville United
Methodist Church in Riceville, on Thursday, February 7, at
2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating. Burial
will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Friends may
call one hour before the services at the church. The
Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville is in charge of the
arrangements.
Blanche is survived by her
husband, Charles Robinson; two daughters; and one son, all
of Riceville.

Robert Pitzen
February 6, 2008
Robert Pitzen, 89, of Stacyville, died on Sunday, February
3, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center, North Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday,
February 8, at the Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville.
Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the church
from 4-7:30 p.m., with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer
Service at 7:00 p.m.
Robert (Bob) A. Pitzen,
was born on December 29, 1918, on the family farm of
Frederich and Christina (Smith) Pitzen. He was the youngest
of nine children. He graduated from the Visitation High
School in 1938. He married Olivia May on October 9, 1943.
They took over his parent's farm north of Stacyville where
they raised 10 children. In 1980 they moved into Stacyville.
Bob was very active in his community, serving on the School,
Coop Creamery and Fire department Boards. He was a member of
the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Foresters and Farm Bureau.
He was a DHIA Milk Supervisor, cemetery sexton and a 4-H
Leader.
He was a progressive farmer. In 1956 he added a modern
milking parlor. He was one of the first pork producers to
raise pathogen-free hogs. He maintained a life long interest
in draft horses. In his retirement Bob developed a love for
woodworking. His favorite project was constructing model
wagons with harnessed teams in pull.
Bob was preceded in death
by his wife, Olivia; his parents; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.
He is survived by two
daughters, Rose (James ) Kruger of Grafton and Karen Bisson
of Somerset, Wisconsin and friend, Jim Holmberg; eight sons,
Daniel (Linda) of Wooster, Ohio, Dale (Ann) of Rochdale,
Massachusetts, Leon of Monticello, Minnesota, Lloyd of
Hampton, Virginia, Quentin (Rita) of Iowa City, Kenneth
(Val) of Stacyville, Keith (Marilyn) of Stacyville, and
Jerry (Laura) of Farmington, Minnesota; 26 grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; in-laws, Mary Pitzen, Verena Pitzen,
Regina May, Evelyn Brumm, Fritz (Dorothy) May, Tony May, Joe
Martyniak and Irma May; and many nieces and nephews.

Harry Dockum
February 6, 2008
Harry Dockum, 83, of Carpenter, died on Monday, February 4,
2008, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday,
February 8, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter,
with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the
Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday,
from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St.
Ansgar.
Harry Alfred Dockum, was
born on October 18, 1924 in Meltonville, Iowa, to Paul and
Arlie (Johnson) Dockum. He graduated from the Otranto High
School in 1942. Harry married Ardene Ogden on December 30,
1945, at the Missionary Alliance Church in Osage. They
farmed and operated a TV sales and repair shop one mile
south of Carpenter for many years. In 1963, they moved to
Carpenter and opened Dockum TV and Appliance (The Little
Town with The Big Dealer) which they operated for 30 years.
Harry devoted countless hours to the Carpenter Commercial
Club and the Carpenter Athletic Club. He enjoyed fishing and
bowling and Hawkeye sports. He truly appreciated his
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as
his neighbors and a very special community of friends.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Paul and Arlie Dockum; wife, Ardene Dockum;
daughter, Gloria (Dockum) McNealy; son, David Dockum;
sister, Rosamond (Dockum) Gordon; and son-in-law, Wayne
McNealy.
Harry is survived by his
son, Gary and wife, Carol (Piper) Dockum of Rock Falls;
grandchildren, Aaron Dockum and Angie of Mason City, Jessica
Dockum of Rock Falls, Joshua Dockum of Rockfalls, Millisa
Bakkum and Ron of Osage, Kiersten Goyette and Tracy of
Osage; great-grandchildren, Isaac Dockum, Jacob Lister, Joe
Lister, Destiny Dunbar, Jacob Dunbar, Yngwie Goyette,
Trenton Goyette and Cynthia Goyette; brother, Gerald Dockum
(Madeline) of Des Moines; and numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins and special friend, Margaret Finch.

Phyllis Lucille
Bruggeman
February 6, 2008
Phyllis Lucille Bruggeman, 94, of St. Ansgar, passed away on
Monday, February 4, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Care Center
in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday,
February 9, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville,
with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the
Church Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be on
Friday, February 8, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Schroeder &
Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar and continue one hour prior
to the services at the church.
Phyllis Lucille (Adams)
Bruggeman, was born on October 29, 1913 at Webster City, in
Hamilton County, Iowa, to the late Albert and Rosa
(Albright) Adams. Her family moved to Mitchell County in
1915. Phyllis was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran
faith at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville. On
September 19, 1934, she was united in marriage to August
Samuel Bruggeman of rural St. Ansgar. They farmed until May
of 1973, when they retired and purchased a home in St.
Ansgar. On September 19, 1984 they celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary.
Phyllis enjoyed living on
the farm where she raised over 500 laying hens. She also
loved to cook and bake and will be long remembered for her
fresh baked goodies whenever her family and friends stopped
in to visit.
Phyllis became a resident
at the Good Samaritan Care Center, St. Ansgar, in April of
2002 and she really enjoyed and appreciated the loving care
she received.
Phyllis will be greatly
missed by her family and friends who will cherish the
memories shared.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, August Samuel Bruggeman; two sons, Albert
William Bruggeman, Jr. and Larry Eugene Bruggeman; one
grandson, John Dean Bruggeman; and two great-grandsons,
Samuel Joseph Bruggeman and Adam Joseph Bruggeman.
Phyllis is survived by one
daughter, Audrey (Eugene) Myhre of rural St. Ansgar; two
special nieces, Maxine Bruggeman and Alvina Bruggeman, both
of St. Ansgar; grandchildren, Kevin (Arlene) Myhre of rural
St. Ansgar, Pam Perkins of Northwood, Jim Bruggeman of Clear
Lake, Robin (Doug) Bless of Toeterville, Mike Bruggeman and
special friend, Michelle of rural St. Ansgar and Steve (Kim)
Bruggeman of Rose Creek, Minnesota; 23 great-grandchildren;
3 great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Karen
Koethke of rural St. Ansgar and Charlene Bruggeman of St.
Ansgar; along with great-nieces and nephews.

Oscar I. Berge

Oscar I. Berge, age 87, of Osage, died on Tuesday, February
5, 2008, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center
in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday,
February 8, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Osage, with
the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Burial will be in the
Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-6:00 p.m., on
Thursday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and
will continue one hour before the services at the church.
Oscar Ingvald Berge, was
born on October 8, 1920 in rural Osage, to Lars and Tilda (Hegg)
Berge. Oscar grew up on the family farm and attended the
Cedar No. 6 School. Oscar was baptized and confirmed by
Reverend O.C. Myre at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where
Oscar was a life long member. On March 20, 1954, Oscar
married Myrtle Anderson of Lake Mills, Iowa. They lived on
and farmed the family farm until his retirement in 1989, at
which time they moved to Osage.
Oscar is survived by his
wife, Myrtle Berge of Osage; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded death by
his parents; his brother, Pervin Berge; and his sister,
Stella Martin.

Anna Louise Adams

Anna Louise (Heinzerling) Adams, age 77, of Stacyville,
Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at the
Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday,
February 9, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville,
with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in the
Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville. Visitation is from 4-7:00
p.m., on Friday, at the Visitation Catholic Church in
Stacyville, with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will
continue one hour before the services at the church on
Saturday.
Anna was born on January
1, 1931 at Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Herman H. and
Minnie Rose (Paulus) Heinzerling. She attended several rural
grade schools, the Rockford High School and graduated from
the Visitation High School in Stacyville with the class of
1949.
She was united in marriage
to Keith C. Adams on June 28, 1950, at the Visitation
Catholic Church, Stacyville. They had six children, Thomas,
Timothy, Daniel, Robert, Deborah and Adrian.
Anna worked for several
years at the Home Cafe in Stacyville. She was a member of
the Christian Mothers and Southeast Town Circle of the
Visitation Church, Stacyville City Council and the American
Legion Auxiliary.
Anna was preceded in death
her parents; brother, Elmer Heinzerling; sister, Helen
Firsching; and her husband, Keith C. Adams on October 19,
1986
She is survived by five
sons, Thomas Adams of Winthrop, Timothy (Sheryl) Adams of
Stacyville, Daniel (Ginny) Adams of Linden, North Carolina,
Robert (Carla) Adams of Osage and Adrian (Wanda) Adams of
Stacyville; one daughter, Deborah (Daniel) Gabrielson of
Rochester, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren;
3 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Vaage and Barbara
Jean Heinzerling, both of Mason City; and many nieces and
nephews.

John "JR" Gruis
February 13, 2008
John "JR" Gruis, 72, of Rockford, died on Wednesday,
February 6, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in
Mason City, following a three-year battle with pancreatic
cancer.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday,
February 9, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, with the
Rev. Patricia Shaw officiating. Inurnment will be at a later
date in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, John D. and Anna (Bents) Gruis; six sisters;
and three brothers.
John is survived by his
wife, Darlene Gruis of Rockford; daughter, Julie and
husband, Doug Salisbury of Nora Springs; son, Scott and
wife, Cheryl Gruis of Rockford; grandchildren, Bryce
(Michelle) Rosel, Spenser Gruis, Nicholas Salisbury, Kaycee
Salisbury and Sawyer Salisbury; sister-in-law, Wanda Gruis;

Irma C. May
February 13, 2008
Irma C. May, 90, of Stacyville, died on Thursday, February
7, 2008, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home,
Stacyville.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 11, at 10:30
a.m., at the Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with
Rev, John Moser officiating. Burial was in the Visitation
Cemetery.
Irma Smith, was born on
July 8, 1917, on the family farm near Johnsburg, Minnesota,
to Henry and Theresia (Gerber) Smith. She was the 5th of
eight children. She attended the St. John's Grade School in
Johnsburg. She was united in marriage to Edmund May on
October 8, 1940. She and her husband farmed near Meyer, Iowa
from 1941-1975.
Irma loved farm work and
gardening and was known for her cooking and baking skills.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her generous
heart touched many lives. She was active in the Sacred Heart
Parish, Meyer and the Visitation Parish, Stacyville, and
belonged to the Rosary Society and Catholic Order of
Foresters.
Irma was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Edmund; a daughter, Mary;
great-grandson, Matthew Shanks; one brother, Alfred Smith;
and four sisters, Leona Heimer, Marie Jax, Amelia O'Sullivan
and Mildred Blake.
She is survived by two
daughters, Sr. Janet May, OSF of Sioux City and Audrey
(Ralph) Wolf of Mason City; two sons, Duane (Helen) May and
Harry (Susan) May of Stacyville; ten grandchildren, Russ (Arlys)
May, Susan Shanks Ricketts, Nancy (Roger) Woods, Sandra May,
Matthew Wolf, Sarah Wolf, Cassie (Troy) Hanna, Hillary May,
Gabe May and Skyler May; nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin
Shanks, Tristan Shanks, Jarrett Woods, Jaci Woods, Jaden
May, Megan Hinders, Kyle Hinders, Harrison Hanna and

Alice N. (Olson) Nack, age 88, of Osage, passed away on
Saturday, February 9, 2008, at her home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday,
February 13, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Osage, with
Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Burial will be in the
Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7:00 p.m., on
Tuesday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and
will continue one hour before the services at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, or
to a charity of your choice.
Alice was born on August
25, 1919 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph
and Gustie (Erikson) Amundson. She was baptized and
confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage. On
October 24, 1934, she married Olaf Olson. To this union one
child, Norma Jean, was born, who died in infancy. On
November 8, 1975, she married Donald "Bud" Nack.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her daughter, Norma Jean; both husbands,
Olaf Olson in 1966 and Donald "Bud" Nack in 1987; a sister
and brother-in-law, Marian and Vernon Cockrum; two brothers,
Hilmer and Alvin Amundson; brother-in-law, Glenn Olson;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Gladys Shoger;
sister-in-law, Rozella Nack; and brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Lester and Dallas Rowe.
Alice is survived by a
brother, Vernon Amundson of Osage; two sisters-in-law,
Charlotte Amundson of Osage and Doris Keebler of Peoria,
Arizona; a brother-in-law, Dean Nack of Osage and family;
twelve nieces and nephews; and many great and
great-great-nieces and nephews.

Carl Blaine Klingsporn
March 11, 2008
Carl Blaine Klingsporn,
80, of Osage, formerly of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, died on
Saturday, February 9, 2008, at the Mitchell County Regional
Health Center in Osage, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the Trinity Evangelical
Lutheran Church-Mountain Lake, on Friday, February 15, 2008,
at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Peter Kufahl officiating. Interment
followed the service in the Mountain Lake Cemetery, with
Military Honors provided by the Mountain Lake American
Legion Post #389. Funeral arrangements were made by the
Bjerum Funeral Home in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
Carl Blaine Klingsporn,
always known as Blaine, was born in Pine Island, Minnesota
on October 4, 1927 to Carl and Madge (Spriestersbach)
Klingsporn. He had one sister, Doris, and they were raised
on the family farm until 1937, when they moved to town.
Blaine was baptized on February 19, 1928, and on May 25,
1952 he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and became a
member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Blaine graduated from the Pine
Island High School in 1945 and then enlisted in the U.S.
Navy. After his stint in the Navy, Blaine attended Rochester
Junior College, where he played football, and from there he
went on to Mankato Teacher's College and graduated in 1951.
In the fall of 1951,
Blaine joined the staff at Mountain Lake High School as a
science teacher and assistant football coach. He taught
science, biology, and social studies, and also had the
privilege of coaching football under the leadership of Burt
Munson until 1955, when he became head football coach. His
coaching career continued through 1972, and during his 18
years as head coach, the Orange and Black gridders amassed a
77-64-2 record and finished as Seven Star Conference
champions six times - 1959, 1961, 1964, 1967, 1969 and 1970.
Blaine filled the athletic director position from 1971 until
his retirement in 1985.
When Blaine arrived in
Mountain Lake he met the high school secretary, Lucille
Jass, and the couple married on May 10, 1952. They became
the parents of two children, Carol and Keith. The couple
were devoted parents and stayed busy with Carol and Keith's
activities, family trips, and maintaining friendships far
and wide. Blaine and Keith spent a lot of time together
hunting and fishing as they shared their mutual love of the
great outdoors.
Blaine's wife, Lucille,
passed away on December 22, 1978.
Blaine married Margaret
Jochims on July 31, 1982, and the Klingsporn family grew to
include her six children. Blaine found great joy in his
family of eight and all their spouses, grandchildren and
great grandchildren. After their marriage he continued to
teach at MLHS until his retirement in 1985. In retirement,
Blaine and Margaret made the rounds visiting their children
and spent the winters at Fiesta Village in Mission, Texas.
They thoroughly enjoyed their time in Texas and all their
wonderful winter friends.
Even after retirement,
Blaine stayed connected to MLHS through substitute teaching
and managing concessions at all the home Laker, and later
Wolverine, athletic events. He was well-known for his
popcorn! He also volunteered at an elementary school during
some of the winters in Texas.
Blaine was diagnosed with
Parkinson's in 1996, and in 1997 Blaine and Margaret moved
to a condo in Worthington, Minnesota, where they lived until
2003 when they moved to Osage, Iowa. Blaine had been a
resident at Faith Lutheran Nursing Home since 2004. Blaine
passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008 under the guidance
of Hospice care at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in
Osage, surrounded by his family. He was 80 years of age.
Blaine is survived by his
wife, Margaret of Osage; a daughter, Carol (Charles) Lehman
of Mountain Lake; a daughter-in-law, Trish Klingsporn of
Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Jennie)
Klassen of Burnsville, Minnesota, Michelle (Charles) Savoia
of Missoula, Montana, Meggan Klassen of Missoula, Mitchell
Klassen of Missoula, Kari (Brent) Hitterdal of Moorhead,
Minnesota, Katie (Eric) Lundmark of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota
and Nicole (Tony) Schmitz of Detroit Lakes; 10
great-grandchildren; two nieces, Patti Taylor and Roberta
Munson, both of Portland, Oregon; and Margaret's children,
Linda (Pat) Doman of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, Richard
(Pat) Fechter of Byron, Minnesota, Janet (Scott) Otis of
West Des Moines, Iowa, Laura (Joseph) Gagnon of St. Paul,
Minnesota, Deanne (Scott) Bauserman of Osage and David
(Cathy) Jochims of Hartley, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his wife, Lucille; a son, Dr. Keith
Klingsporn; and a sister & brother-in-law, Doris and Leonard
Taylor.

John J. Faas

John J. Faas, age 78, of Stacyville, died on Monday,
February 11, 2008, at the Mitchell County Regional Health
Center-Emergency Room in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on
Saturday, February 16, at the Visitation Catholic Church in
Stacyville. Burial will be in the Visitation Catholic
Cemetery, with military honors at the grave by the
Stacyville American Legion Post 569. Visitation is from
4-8:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Visitation Catholic Church in
Stacyville, with a Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of
Foresters Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture wake service
at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the
services at the church.
John was born on October
13, 1929 near Stacyville, Iowa, the son of Benedict and
Mabel (Winer) Faas. He served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean Conflict. On November 16, 1954, John married Monica
Rogers at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. They
lived in Osage until 1969, when they moved to an acreage
near Stacyville.
John worked at White Farm for 39 years and then worked at
Theobald Custom Manufacturing in Stacyville. He was the
Sexton of the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville.
John was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the
Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Stacyville
American Legion, where he had served as Post Commander and
was Post Adjutant for many years.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; son, Douglas Faas; two brothers, Bobby and
Marvin Faas; and a sister, Irene Neis.
John is survived by his
wife, Monica Faas of Stacyville; his children, David (Cathy)
Faas of Racine, Minnesota, Diane (Mark) Beckman of New
Hampton, Daniel (Kathy) Faas in the Military Service, Denise
(Bruce) Mayer of Stacyville, Donald Faas of San Francisco,
California, Debra (Warren) Davis of Fort Dodge, Darrell Faas

Zella Barker
Tidemanson Boggess
February 13, 2008
Zella Barker Tidemanson Boggess, age 86, of Osage, died on
Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at the Mitchell County Regional
Health Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday,
February 16, at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage,
with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial
will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Mitchell. Visitation is
from 4-8:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral
Home in Osage and will continue one hour before the services
at the church.
Zella
was born the daughter of Lee and Gae (Murphy) Barker, on May
10, 1921, in Burr Oak Township, near Osage. She graduated
from the Osage High School with a Normal Training Teaching
Certificate in 1939. She taught in rural schools for two
years.
Zella was married to Francis "Jack" Tidemanson on January
25, 1942, at her home in Burr Oak Township. They farmed most
of their married life, until they moved to Osage in 1966.
Zella started working at the Mitchell County Memorial
Hospital, where she was employed as a nurse's assistant for
20 years. After Jack passed away in 1984, Zella married
Wendell Boggess in 1986, at the Our Savior's Lutheran
Church. Wendell passed away in 1995.
Zella enjoyed making scrapbooks, crafts, camping, and
enjoyed her family and friends. She was a life member of the
Our Savior's Lutheran Ladies Aid, and was an active member
in church circle groups.
Zella
was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Francis
"Jack" Tidemanson and Wendell Boggess; special friend, Ed
Griga; son, Carl Tidemanson; two brothers, Dick Barker and
Kent Barker; niece, Cheryl Duda; and son-in-law, Rodger
Wambeam.
Survivors include a son,
Gary Tidemanson of St. Ansgar; two daughters, Judith Wambeam
of Austin, Minnesota and Karen (Fred) Rodemaker of New
Hampton; daughter-in-law, Mary Tidemanson of Greene; three
step-children, Bryan (Nancy) Boggess of Des Moines, Bruce
(Valarie) Boggess of Colorado and Annette (Jim) Olesen of
Rudd; many grandchildren and great and
great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Herbert Norby
February 13, 2008
Herbert Norby, age 98, of Osage, died on Tuesday, February
12, 2008, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday,
February 16, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church rural Osage,
with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Burial will be
in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7:00 p.m.,
on Friday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and
will continue one hour before the services at the church.
Herbert was born on
January 28, 1910 near Osage, in Mitchell County, the son of
Carl and Ida (Olsen) Norby. He attended rural and Osage
Schools. Herbert married Alice Moe on September 6, 1933, at
the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa. They made their
home on the family farm in rural Osage.
He was a life long and active member of the Rock Creek
Lutheran Church. Herbert was an original board member of the
Faith Lutheran Home. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool and
walking.
Herbert is survived by two
daughters, Joan (Frank) Jacobs of Osage and Marlys (Will)
Smith of Germantown, Tennessee; two sons, Marvin (Edna)
Norby of Osage and Dean (Jane) Norby of Osage; 10
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1
great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded death by
his parents; his wife, Alice Norby in 2004; one sister,
Rosella Klemesrud; two brothers, Kenneth Norby and Loren
Norby.

Bob Bensend
February 14, 2008
Bob Bensend, age 80, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2008,
at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on
Tuesday, February 19, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Osage, with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in
the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage, with military honors at
the grave by the Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation
is from 4-8:00 p.m., on Monday, at the Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home in Osage, with a scripture wake service at 5:30
p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8:00 p.m.
Bob was born on February
13, 1928 at Riceville, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Nina
(Foster) Bensend. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. On
June 18, 1949, he married Dorothy "Dottie" Klaes at the St.
Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven. Bob was employed as a
draftsman at White Farm in Charles City.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of
Columbus. Bob's passion was golfing. He also enjoyed
woodworking, crossword puzzles and was an avid participant
in activities at the nursing home. Bob enjoyed spending time
with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Bensend in 2000;
two brothers, Dale and Marvin Bensend; sister, Virginia
Knode; and an infant sister.
Bob is survived by three
daughters, Jeannine (Jim) Roufs of Delano, Minnesota and
children, Christopher, Lauren and Tiffany; Patricia Fuller
of Mason City and children, Jamie and Waylon; Marilyn
(Jerry) Adams of Stacyville and daughter, Kristin; one son,
Richard (Jean) Bensend of Osage and children, Brodie and
Tyler; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Russell
(Janet) Bensend of Riceville.

Helen M. Blood
February 19, 2008
Helen M. Blood, 79, of Carpenter, died on Saturday, February
16, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason
City.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday,
February 23, at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St.
Ansgar, with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial
will be in the Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, Minnesota.
Helen Mae (Allison) Blood,
was born on January 2, 1929 in Sheffield, Iowa, to Harry and
Fern (Mulford) Allison. She attended school and graduated
from the Sheffield High School in 1946. On July 21, 1946,
she married Richard Blood of Sheffield. Two children were
born to this union, Nancy Marie and Steven Richard. They
lived in Sheffield until 1957, then moved to St. Ansgar. She
was baptized and confirmed in 1959 in the Methodist Church.
Helen worked at Ruth's
Cafe and at the bowling alley. In May of 1960, she started
work at the St. Ansgar Enterprise. She worked for the
newspaper for 48 years, loving every minute of her time
there. In 1973 they moved to Carpenter.
Helen loved sports,
especially bowling, fishing and basketball.
Helen is survived by her
son, Steven and his wife, Dolores of Carpenter; daughter,
Nancy and her husband, Jim Ackels of Tucson, Arizona; three
grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; one sister,
Dorothy Irene Buss of Piquot, Minnesota; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her beloved husband, Richard in 1989; her parents; two
brothers, A.J. Allison and Raymond Allison; and one sister,
Violet Pickerell.

Ruth Fritcher
February 26, 2008
Ruth Fritcher, 85, of Saratoga, Iowa, passed away on Monday,
February 18, 2008, at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco,
Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in
Riceville, on Friday, February 22, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev.
Dan Christensen officiating. Burial was in the Saratoga
Cemetery, Saratoga, Iowa.
Ruth Torlaug Loten, was
born on February 7, 1923, on the island of Bokn, Norway, in
the North Sea, the daughter of Erik M. and Dina J. (Gismervik)
Loten. The family came to America in 1927 where their
surname was changed to Loden.
On April 14, 1940, she
married John W. "Jack" Fritcher of Osage, at Northwood,
Iowa.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Jack in 2005; two infant daughters, Ruth Ann
and Barbara Jean; her parents; one brother; and seven
sisters.
She is survived by her
children, John E. "Butch" (Beverly) of Saratoga, Jo Ann
(Dennis) Fox of Rochester, Minnesota, Janet (LeRoy) Dahlke
of Riceville and Robert J. "Pete" Fritcher of Saratoga; 10
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; one sister, Emma (John) Seckar of
Charles City; one brother, Donald (Millie) Loden of Buffalo,
Wyoming; two brothers-in-law, Tom Fritcher of Lime Springs
and Lloyd Milton of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.

Orwin Boese

Orwin Boese, 87, of rural Riceville,
passed away on Thursday February 21, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, February 25, at the St. Peter's
Lutheran Church in Riceville, with Pastor Michael Parris
officiating.
Burial was in the St.
Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville. The Lindstrom
Funeral Home in Riceville, was in charge of the

Stanley R. Brones
March 4, 2008
Stanley R. Brones, 94, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died on
Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center,
St. Ansgar.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 27, at
11:00 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with
Rev. Peter Chang officiating. Burial was in the St. Ansgar
Cemetery, St. Ansgar.
Stanley Roland Brones, was
born in Forest City, Iowa, on December 18, 1913, one of nine
children born to Nathan and Molina (Felland) Brones. He met
Vergil "Vergie" Christensen, also of Forest City and they
were married on January 18, 1933 and recently celebrated
their 75th Anniversary. They had one child, Jana.
Stan and Vergie farmed the
Brones farm until 1936. At that time they moved to the St.
Ansgar area and farmed until retirement in 1978 and moved
into St. Ansgar.
They enjoyed traveling and
visited all the states except Alaska. When their daughter,
Jan and family moved to Arizona, they started spending
winters in the Mesa area until just recently.
Stan enjoyed fishing and
in the mid 70's bought a cabin at Lake Lizzie near Pine
River, Minnesota. For over 20 years they would spend their
summers at the cabin enjoying the company of family and
friends.
After retiring, Stan
joined Vergie in gardening and canning. Even as recently as
last summer they put in a garden and canned Vergie's
favorite spice pickles and beet pickles.
Stan was preceded in death
by his parents, Molina and Nathan Brones; brothers, Archie,
Harold, Lyle and Palmer; and sisters, Gladys, Alfa and
Margaret.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Vergie; daughter, Jan and
husband, Morrie of Mesa Arizona; grandson, Jeff and wife,
Shawn; great-grandchildren, Cody and Deanna of Camp Verde,
Arizona; and one sister, Mildred Hoeft of Belmond.

Norma Jane Severson
March 4, 2008
CONWAY, South Carolina-Norma Jane (Countryman) Severson, 85,
passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 23,
2008, surrounded by her family.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 29, at the Rausch-Lundeen
Funeral Home in Dallas, Wisconsin. Funeral services were
held on Saturday, March 1, at the Dallas Lutheran Church,
with Pastor Michael Fish officiating. Burial followed at the
Dallas Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's
Foundation of America, New York, New York. Funeral
arrangements were made by the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes,
Dallas & Cameron, Wisconsin.
Norma was born on July 24,
1922 in Sibley, Iowa, to Ora (Weimer) and Glenn C.
Countryman. Norma spent her grade school years growing up in
rural Iowa, until her family moved to Minneapolis,
Minnesota, where she attended the Central High School. Upon
graduation, she took a job as a comptometer operator for the
Standard Oil Company in Minneapolis.
Through a mutual friend,
Norma was introduced to and fell in love with Mr. Robert L.
"Bob" Severson, whom she married on February 14, 1942 in
Cambridge, Minnesota. With war having been declared, Bob
volunteered for the Army Air Corps. Throughout his advanced
training, Norma moved along with her husband, until he was
stationed overseas, at which point she returned home to
Minneapolis to live with her family.
Upon Bob's highly
decorated return, a family was started and his career took
them to several locations over the next 55 years, including
eight years in Osage, Iowa; eight years in San Jose,
California and 39 years in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. In
December of 2006, Norma and Bob moved to Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina, before settling into a new home in Conway, South
Carolina this past September.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; and sister, Maxine Siderides Evans.
In addition to her loving
husband of 66 years, she is survived by her daughter, Diane
White of Conway, South Carolina; son, Robert G. Severson and
wife, Quincey of Gunnison, Colorado; granddaughter, Patricia
K. White-Wisniewski and her husband, Jeffrey Alan Wisniewski
of Longs, South Carolina; two grandsons, Colby Severson and
his wife, Annette of Superior, Colorado and Kassidy Severson
and his fiancée, Kelli Cadwell, also of Superior, Colorado;
as well as two great-granddaughters, Kailey and Brenna
Severson of Superior, Colorado.

Karen G. Fox
March 4, 2008
Karen G. Fox, age 69, of rural Riceville, died on Tuesday,
February 26, 2008, peacefully on her birthday, at her home
near Riceville.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m., on
Saturday, March 1, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church in Riceville, with Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating.
Burial was in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New
Haven. Visitation was held on Friday, February 29, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a Rosary at
4:30 p.m. and continued one hour before the services at the
church on Saturday.
She was born on February 26, 1939 in Austin, Minnesota, the
daughter of Emil Klaehn and Edith (Lindell) Klaehn Gleason
and later step-father, Charlie Gleason. Karen graduated from
the Osage High School in 1957, and then from the St. Mary's
School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota, as a Registered
Nurse. She was employed at the Mitchell County Hospital in
Osage.
Karen was united in marriage to Larry Fox on February 4,
1961, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Karen
was a CASA Volunteer and enjoyed over 5 years of sobriety.
She was a mother and homemaker. Karen enjoyed reading,
spending time with her children and her much loved
grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her
husband, Larry Fox of Riceville; daughter, Jennifer Fox of
Eden Prairie, Minnesota; three sons, Douglas Fox of Austin,
Minnesota, David (Kristy) Fox of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and
their children, Alexander and Kathryn and Jeffrey Fox of
Houston, Texas; and one sister, Janice (Fred) Sorensen of
Omaha, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death
by her mother, father, and step-father.

Arnold E. Feldt
March 4, 2008
Arnold E. Feldt, 83, of St. Ansgar, died on Wednesday,
February 27, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 1, at the
Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Dr. Byron
Northwick officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran
Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday at the church.
Arnold Edward Feldt, was
born in Newburg Township, Mitchell County on September 29,
1924 to Alma and Gustave Feldt. He was baptized at the St.
John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township, on November 23, 1924
by Rev. J. Gemaehlich. His sponsors were Edward Rachut and
Laura Feldt. On March 17, 1940, he confirmed his faith at
St. John's Lutheran. He graduated from the Carpenter High
School in May 1943 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He
saw action with the 12th Armored Division as an MP in France
and Germany. He received an honorable discharge and returned
home in April of 1946 and entered Iowa State College, where
he graduated in March, 1950 with a B.S. Degree.
He was united in marriage to Joan Dahms of Chicago,
Illinois, on August 19, 1950. He began the Vocational
Agriculture course at the Guttenberg High School, teaching
also Adult Classes and Veteran Ag classes for two years. In
1952, he moved to his parental farm in Newburg Township,
where he farmed until 1987, when he moved to St. Ansgar,
continuing to help his son, Dave on the farm. He drove a
Mitchell County transit bus from the fall of 1998 until
spring, '02, and part time until 2008.
He was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church,
serving as choir director and member, Sunday School Teacher,
Elder, member of LLL, and the Friendship Club. He was a
member of Farm Bureau, St. Ansgar Lion's Club, American
Legion, and sang with the Forte Miler's Barbershop Chorus.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; sister, Helen Peterson; and brothers, Wilmer
and Herbert.
Arnold is survived by his
wife, Joan; children, Andrew and wife, Janet of Norman,
Oklahoma, Margaret (Peggy) Buchholz and husband, Gerald of
Bonduel, Wisconsin, Karen of Renton, Washington, David and
wife, Candis of St. Ansgar, Gloria and husband, Paul
Peterson of Overland Park, Kansas, Mary and husband, Richard
Dinesen of Woodbury, Minnesota and John and wife, Karen of
W. Des Moines, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren, Nicholas
Buchholz and wife, Samantha, Michael Buchholz, Sarah and
Alex Feldt, Whitney and Cole Feldt, Ruth and Philip
Mathiowetz, Amy and Carl Peterson, Isak and Joanna Dinesen,
Daniel, Joshua, and Cora Feldt; sisters, Agnes Severson of
St. Ansgar and Irene Thompson of Austin, Minnesota;
sisters-in-law, Delores Feldt, Mae Dahms and Arta Walter;
brothers-in-law, Fred Peterson, Charles Thompson and Edward
Walter; and many nieces and nephews and a Christian
congregation.
