Sharon Cecelia
Hrubetz, 64, of Mason City, died on Sunday, October 8, 2006,
at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday,
October 11, 2006, at the Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, with
Reverend Mark Doebel officiating. Burial was in the Sacred
Heart Catholic Cemetery in Manly. Visitation was held on
Tuesday, October 10. at the Bride Colonial Chapel. The
family of Sharon Cecelia Hrubetz has requested that memorial
contributions be made to the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient
Unit in Mason City, in her memory.
Sharon Cecelia Hrubetz was born on April 5, 1942, in Manly,
the daughter of Orville and Mary (Doebel) Hagen. She
attended Sacred Heart Catholic grade school, and graduated
from the North Central High School in Manly in the class of
1960.
She was united in marriage to Dale Hrubetz on February 13,
1960. He preceded her in death. After their marriage
together they farmed north of Manly. Sharon also worked as
a nurse's aide at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, and 15
years for Mode/O/Day in Mason City. In 1986, Sharon
graduated from N.I.A.C.C. in Mason City with an associate of
arts degree as an executive secretary. After graduating
from N.I.A.C.C. she worked in accounting for 20 years for
the Airgas Company in Mason City, and was still employed
there at the time of her death.
She enjoyed remolding homes, woodworking, taking care of her
yard, and gardening, but her great love and enjoyment was
her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the
American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Manly.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sheryl Madson
of Northwood and her special friend, David Leidal of
Kensett, Steve Hrubetz and Chris Bills of Manly, Sandy
Grandgenett and her husband, Kevin of Mason City and Stanton
Hrubetz of Manly; her mother, Mary Hagen of Manly; eight
grandchildren, Michelle Hrubetz, Lee Olson, Ashley Bills,
Haley Kavaya, Jessica and Jennifer Grandgenett, Danielle and
Kaitlyn Hrubetz; five brothers and sisters, Tom Hagen of
Northwood, Knute Hagen of Portland, Oregon, Sarah Hall of
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Monica Nitcher of Mason City and
Becky Hull of Clarion; numerous nieces and nephews, as well
as other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Hagen; a
brother who died in infancy, Marcus Paul Hagen; and two
sisters, Betty Nitcher, and Mary (Toots) Rork.

Delmer D. Daniels

Delmer D. Daniels, 59, of Mason City, died on Monday,
October 9, 2006, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit,
Mason City, from diabetes, liver cancer, and other
complications due to Agent Orange.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at
the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev.
Mark G. Lavrenz officiating. Military honors were conducted
after the funeral service at the church by the Mason City
Veterans Memorial Association. Burial was in the Pleasant
Hill Cemetery, rural Ackley, with military honors conducted
by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 790, Mason City,
and the Elliot Keninger American Legion Post 252, Ackley.
Delmer Dale Daniels, was born on February 16, 1947, in
Hampton, Iowa, the son of Harold and Johanna (Toomsen)
Daniels, of Ackley. He graduated from the Ackley-Geneva High
School in 1965. Delmer attended Ellsworth College, Iowa
Falls.
He joined the United States Army in September 1966. Delmer
served in Vietnam from February 28, 1967 to March 1, 1968,
with the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Division, stationed at
Chu Chi & Tav Nihn.
After his tour in Vietnam, he went to Germany and was
stationed at Hanau with the 75th Artillery Division. Delmer
was honorably discharged on July 31, 1970 from the United
States Army.
On April 20, 2006, Delmer was honored and recognized for his
sacrifice while serving in the Republic of Vietnam with "The
Order of The Silver Rose". The Order of The Silver Rose gave
veterans recognition for their sacrifice. Delmer was wounded
by exposure to Agent Orange.
Delmer returned to Ackley and attended Ellsworth College. He
worked for Kmart for five years, Marshall and Swift Inc. for
22 years, and most recently with NIACC in the physical plant
department as a 3rd shift custodian.
On April 9, 1972, Delmer was united into marriage to the
heart of his dreams, Marjory A. Hartwig, at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church, in St. Ansgar.
The couple made their home in Mason City, where they raised
their two daughters, Stacy (Charlson) and Wendy (Rish).
Delmer loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He treasured all of his friends.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, listening to and
playing the accordion, and traveling. He also enjoyed
visiting, dining out, playing cards, and could never pass up
a good garage sale.
Delmer was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 34
years, where he served many offices, most recently as a
member of the Board of Stewardship. Delmer also praised his
Lord as he sang in the Church Choir for many years.
Delmer was a life member of the VFW Post 733, Mason City,
and Vietnam Veterans of America 790 (VVA), where he held the
office of Vice-President. Delmer was also a member of the
Elliot Keninger American Legion Post 252, Ackley.
Delmer's survivors include his wife of 34 years, Marjory;
his devoted and loving daughters and their spouses, Stacy
and Dawayne Charlson and Wendy and Chris Rish, both of Mason
City; a sister, Janice Rinnels and her husband, Gary; a
brother, Galen Daniels and his wife, Ronda, both of Ackley;
and his in-laws, Gary and Jean Hartwig of Northwood, David
and Sue Hartwig of Northwood and Duane and Jeanne Hartwig of
Waverly; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins,
and many special friends and special "adopted
grandchildren," and a host of friends and fellow church
members.
Delmer was preceded in death by his parents; father and
mother-in-law; and several aunts, uncles and friends.

Ina Gould
October 25, 2006
Ina Christina (Anderson) (Nicholson) Gould, 94, celebration
of life ended Sunday, October 15, 2006, at the Stacyville
Community Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday,
October 19, 2006, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church,
Carpenter, with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial was
in the Newburg Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday,
October 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites
Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
Ina was born in Worth County on January 14, 1912, to William
and Hattie (Carlsgard) Anderson. She was a lifelong member
of the Deer Creek Lutheran Church. She graduated from the
Otranto High School in 1929.
In 1934, she was united in marriage to Harold "Colonel"
Nicholson in Garner, Iowa. They owned and operated the
Carpenter Sale Barn for several years and also Nicholson's
Cafe. After Harold's death, she worked for the Good
Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar as their first Head Cook
until she retired. She was married to Kermit Gould in 1974.
Family was her greatest joy. Family Food and Fun were the
order of all holidays. Hobbies included her flower garden,
cooking, playing cards, bingo, and baseball; her favorite
team was the Minnesota Twins. She and Kermit traveled a good
deal, wintering in both Arizona and Texas.
Ina is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Melvin) Albrecht
of Leroy, Minnesota, Sharon Wilder Hintz of Carpenter, Iowa
and Nancy Harvey of Stuart, Florida; one son, Harold "Butch"
(Andrea) Nicholson of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 14
grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many nieces and
nephews and two sisters-in-law, Ronnie (Harvey) Anderson of
Carpenter, Iowa and Arlene (Don) Anderson of St. Ansgar,
Iowa.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; one daughter,
Phyllis (Ed) Mashany; her parents; 2 brothers; and 4
sisters.

Kathryn Renae Dehnert,
age 59, of Northwood, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 22,
2006, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason
City, Iowa.
Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday,
October 25, at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, with
Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating. The family greeted friends
one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. According to Kathryn wishes, her body was cremated.
Kathryn Renae Dehert, was born on December 28, 1946 in Mason
City, Iowa, to Donald W. and Arlene B. (Schutz) Dehnert.
Kathryn worked many years as a nurse's aide before becoming
disabled. She was a very giving and loving person. She was
a mentor to Jamee Hove.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and
paternal grandparents; and brother, Pat.
Survivors include her daughter, Kris Matton and her husband,
Andy of Northwood; grandson, Jesse Matton of Northwood; her
brother, Mike Dehnert and his wife, Sally of Des Moines,
Iowa.; and her cat named Precious.

Joseph Ferstl

Joseph Richard Ferstl,
age 30, of Mercer, Missouri, died early on Sunday morning,
October 22, 2006, in a single car accident near Emmons,
Minnesota.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday,
October 25, 2006, at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood,
with Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating. Burial took place in the
Kensett Cemetery in Kensett, Iowa. Visitation was on Tuesday
from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home,
Northwood, Iowa.
Joe was born on June 25, 1976 in Mason City, Iowa to Mike
and Shirley Ferstl. He became the step-son of Bruce and
Shirley Mogk in l980.
Joe attended school in St. Ansgar, Northwood-Kensett, and
Mercer, Missouri, where he graduated in l994 Salutatorian of
his class. After high school he enrolled in the University
of Missouri Rolla (School of Mines) in Rolla, Missouri. Joe
graduated with a bachelors degree in Engineering.
Joe worked for Siemens Westinghouse of Houston, Texas, where
he was the lead engineer of rebuilding and repairing turbine
engines on generators in large power plants. His work took
him through out the country from Orlando, Florida to
Oregon. Just last year he managed a job in Korea. He was
well liked by all his customers and was requested by many to
manage different projects. He was no different than most
people as he complained about some of his work, but he loved
his job dearly. His work was his first love.
Whenever Joe was off work he could be found hunting,
fishing, or just hanging out with his best friend, Mark
Meinecke. His favorite past time was playing Texas hold-em
on the internet or in a casino. He also loved sports on TV
especially football and baseball.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Willam Ferstl;
grandparents, Maynard and Nora Mogk; and cousin, Jennifer
Mogk.
Joe is survived by his parents, Bruce and Shirley Mogk of
Alden, Minnesota; his father, Mike and wife, Ella Ferstl of
Harriet, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Cristy
Ferstl of Lawson, Missouri; brother, Mike Mogk of St. Joe,
Missouri; brother, Isaac and his wife, Jennifer Mogk of Fort
Worth, Texas; grandparents, Vic and Daisy Bach of Minnesota
Lake, Minnesota; grandmother, Eva Ferstl of Arkansas; six
nieces and nephews, Jeffery and Jessica Ferstl of Lawson,
Missouri, Garrrick, Damon and Devin Mogk of Fort Worth,
Texas and Delaney Mogk of Rockford, Iowa, and many cousins
and aunts and uncles.

Joan Arlene Bright

Joan Arlene Bright, 79, of Twin Falls, died peacefully in
her sleep on Sunday evening, October 22, 2006, at her home
in Twin Falls.
A celebration of Joan’s life was held on Thursday, October
26, at the Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls. Pastor Peter
Page of the First Church of God in Jerome officiated. A
private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Joan was born on April 13, 1927, in Northwood, Iowa, the
daughter of Hannes and Fannie Janseen. She grew up and
attended schools in Northwood, graduating from the Northwood
High School in 1945. She furthered her education at the
University of Iowa, where she obtained her Registered
Nursing Degree in 1948.
On April 22, 1949, Joan married Gregory Steven Bright in
Iowa City, Iowa. Together they raised three children, Mark,
Diane and Steve. In 1951, they moved to Idaho, where they
settled in Twin Falls for a time and then moved to Jerome,
where they farmed for several years. They moved back to Twin
Falls, where she resided ever since. Joan worked as a
registered nurse in Twin Falls.
Joan was passionate about gardening, loved to read and sew.
Her happiest time was spent on the family farm, where she
worked as hard as any of the men. She never complained and
she endured to the end. Her love was her family, and
spending time with them and her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren was a true blessing.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Diane (Chuck) Collins of
Jerome; and her son, Mark (Ellen) Bright of Battle Ground,
Washington; and her two brothers, Don Janssen and Benjamin
Janssen, both of Northwood, Iowa.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Phillip, Crystal,
Justin, Candace, Josh, Heather and Stacy; six
step-grandchildren, Christopher, Charley, Cheri, Aimee,
Kelsey and Cate; as well as ten great-grandchildren, Kiley,
Megan, Emma, Logan, Austin, James, Bellah, Cooper, Paige and
Titus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Gregory Steven Bright in 1991; her son, Steve Gregory Bright
in 2006; and one grandson, Brad Russell Halstead in 1980.
You will be missed, “Mom, Grandma and Grandma Great."

Clarice L. Davis

Clarice Leona Heegard Davis, age 85, of rural Glenville,
triumphed over this earthly life and went to her heavenly
home on Wednesday, October 25, 2006, from the St. Mary's
Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
A Celebration of the Life of Clarice was held at 1:00 p.m.,
on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at the Faith Lutheran Church
in London, Minnesota. Rev. Reuben Unseth was the
officiate. Interment was in the London Deer Creek Cemetery,
rural Northwood. Visitation was from 5-7:00 p.m., on Monday
at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to
the services at the church.
Clarice Davis, daughter of Clarence and Matilda (Wolff)
Heegard, was born on September 24, 1921, in Park Rapids,
Minnesota, at her grandparent's home. Her father died when
she was three. Her mother married Werner Lau of Northwood,
when Clarice was seven years old. She grew up on a farm
near Northwood and attended country school east of
Gordonsville. Clarice was confirmed in the Christian faith
at the Zion Lutheran Church in Northwood.
On January 26, 1941, she was united in marriage with Emery
I. Davis at the Zion Lutheran Church. Three children were
born to this union. Clarice helped Emery with the farm.
They enjoyed many friendships and trips associated with
their Conklin business, Watkin's sales, and showing POAs. Clarice
attended the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. She enjoyed
singing praises to God in the Church Choir and with a
long-standing trio and sang duets for many church related
occasions. She was a Sunday School Teacher and held offices
in the church women's groups. A neighborhood Bible study
group held fond memories for Clarice, as well as her church
circle, and being a counselor for the Billy Graham Crusade
in Mason City.
She was currently a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in
London and is remembered as a woman of strong faith and
selfless love. Clarice was a gifted seamstress and sewed
many quilts for LWR. Clarice loved children and would spend
hours playing and reading to her children and grandchildren,
and now great-grandchildren. Music, singing, and dancing
brought a special joy to Clarice. She played organ and
accordion without formal lessons. Her greatest love was her
family and she enjoyed holidays and special occasions
surrounded by her loved ones, the most recent being her 85th
birthday.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Emery; children,
Sheldon (Rita) Davis of rural Glenville, Sharyl (Paul)
Ferley of Northwood and Steven (Judy) of Apple Valley;
grandchildren, Shelly Woitas, Suzette (Michael) Kragenbrink,
LT. Commander Mark (Rebecca) Ferley, Stacy Davis, Cassandra
(Mike) Kvale, Heather (Jamie) Pryble and Jerad Davis;
great-grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Woitas, Calvin,
Mitchell, and Jack Kragenbrink, Alec and Nicole Ferley,
MacKenzie Davis, and twins, Abigayle and Isabella Kvale; and
step-sister, Gladys Kenyon of Austin.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; step-father;
and granddaughter, Suzanne Davis.
