Janet
Thelma Eldora Klein, 87, of Northwood, died on Tuesday, June
6, 2006, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral service were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 9, 2006, at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Reverend Wayne Hagen
officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood. Visitation was held on Thursday, June 8, at the
Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood. Visitation was also held
one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.
Janet Thelma Eldora Klein,
was born on March 30, 1919, the daughter of Anthony and
Esther (Thoen) Hrubetz. She was baptized and reaffirmed the
faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Bethany
Lutheran Church in Kensett. She attended and received her
education in the Kensett School system, graduating from the
Kensett High School.
She was united in marriage to Everett Ray Klein on October
5, 1941 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett. He
preceded her in death on August 21, 1999.
After their marriage together they began farming west of
Fertile before moving north of Hanlontown. They continued to
farm in the Hanlontown area before moving to the Grafton
area, where they farmed for 17 years.
They moved to Northwood in 1965 when her husband, Everett
started the Klein Painting and Repair business. Shortly
after moving to Northwood, Janet began working for Carroll
George Inc. in Northwood, working there for several years
until her retirement.
Janet enjoyed baking
cookies, Find a Word Puzzles, Christmas with her family,
gardening, flowers, going with her husband on picnics and to
the Mason City Band Festival, and being with her family and
grandchildren.
She was an active member
of the First Lutheran Church and the Rachel Circle in
Northwood.
Left to cherish her memory
are her daughters, Sharon Tiedeman and her husband, Dennis
of Mason City and Cynthia Martinson and her husband, Bill of
Mason City; four grandchildren, Lori Ellingson and her
husband, Mark of Mason City, Steve Tiedeman and his wife,
Lisa of Mason City, Mandy Martinson of Mason City and Richie
Martinson and his special friend, Stephanie Broege of Mason
City; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ellingson, Laurel
Tiedeman and Parker Niles; and a sister, Phyllis Mortenson
of Northwood; as well as other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Everett Klein; and five
brothers and sisters, Charles, Doris, Franny, Ellie and
Roger.

Kirk
Russell Evans, age 53, of Sterling, Arkansas, was peacefully
called home on Monday, June 12, 2006.
A celebration of Kirk's life took place at the New Life
Assembly of God Church, 190 Johnson Ave. N, in Cokato,
Minnesota, on Saturday, June 24, 2006.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Ann Evans; daughter, Sarah
Lester; sons, Brandon, Ryan and Christopher Evans;
grandchildren, Blake Evans, Issiah and Raini Evans, Tyler
Evans and Olivia Lester.

Hazel
Mildred Kuhlmann, 97, of Northwood, died on Tuesday, June
13, 2006, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 16, 2006, at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Reverend Wayne Hagen
officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood. Visitation was held from 5-7:00 p.m., on
Thursday, June 15, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood.
Visitation was also held one hour prior to service time on
Friday at the church.
Hazel Mildred Kuhlmann,
was born on September 17, 1908, the daughter of Rasmus and
Helen (Walswick) Flatness. She was baptized and reaffirmed
the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the
Lutheran Church in Northwood. She attended and received her
education in the Northwood School System, graduating from
the Northwood High School.
She was united in marriage to Elmer Thompto on June 20, 1937
at the Lutheran Church in Northwood. Hazel began working as
a telephone operator/secretary for the Northwood Telephone
Company. Hazel also worked as a cook for the
Northwood-Kensett Community Schools and was owner of Hazel's
Cafe in Northwood for 10 years, before she retired after 22
years of service as a cook for the Northwood-Kensett
Community Schools.
She was united in marriage
to Gaylord Kuhlmann on December 10, 1983, at the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Hazel enjoyed dancing,
playing cards, cooking, learning to play the piano by ear,
knitting, going out to dinner, and loved people, but her
great love and enjoyment was being with her family and
grandchildren.
She was a member of the
First Lutheran Church in Northwood, Lydia Circle at the
church, American Legion and VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the
Eastern Star in Northwood.
Left to cherish her memory
are her children: Ralph Thompto and his wife Janet of
Blaine, MN, Mary Peterson and her husband Richard of
Owatonna, MN, and Elizabeth Kenison and her husband Larry of
Northwood, seven
grand-children, Ralph Thompto and his wife, Janet of Blaine,
Minnesota, Mary Peterson and her husband, Richard of
Owatonna, Minnesota and Elizabeth Kenison and her husband,
Larry of Northwood; seven grandchildren, Mark Thompto of
Highland Park, Minnesota, Marcy Olson and her husband, Brad
of Owatonna, Minnesota, Kim Bremer of Owatonna, Minnesota,
Robb Bremer of Boise, Idaho, Joseph Peterson of Minnetonka,
Minnesota, Christine Hulsing and her husband, Mark of
Northwood and Nicole Cole and her husband, Michael of
Grafton; eleven great-grandchildren; four step-children,
LaVon Kuhlmann of Manly, Marcile Perry and her husband, Dean
of New Ulm, Minnesota, Beverly Davis and her husband, Glenn
of Ft. Myers, Florida and Doris "Dodie" Belanger and her
husband, Jerry of New Hope, Minnesota; a sister-in-law,
Margaret Flatness of Northwood; as well as many nieces and
nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; first husband, Elmer Thompto who died on
July 26, 1970; her second husband, Gaylord Kuhlmann who died
on October 22, 1998; a great-grandson, Jarrod Olson; seven
sisters and brothers, Ruth, Gladys, Alice, Ida, Melba,
Irving and Norman; and a step-daughter-in-law, Joyce
Kuhlmann.

Danielle R. Johnson, age 30, of Rochester,
died on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the St. Mary's
Hospital, Rochester, following a courageous battle with
cancer.
Funeral services were held
on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Savior's
Lutheran Church, Faribault. Visitation was held at the Boldt
Funeral Home, Faribault, on Friday, June 23.
Danielle Renee Sculley,
was born on December 20, 1975 in Mankato, to Thomas Sculley
and Sue (Wright) Sculley. She graduated from the Faribault
High School in 1994 and from Winona State University in
2002.
She married Craig G. Johnson on May 18, 2002 in Rochester.
Danielle was employed as a social worker at REM River
Bluffs, Rochester, and was a member of the Meadow Park
Church of Christ, Rochester. Danielle especially enjoyed
spending time with her family
and friends.
She is survived by her
father, Tom and step-mother, Terri Sculley of Northwood,
Iowa; her mother and step-father, Sue and Lee Tollefson of
Faribault; her husband, Craig; two children at home, Donaven,
age three and Liric, age five months; six siblings, Brent
and Jenna Sculley of Eagan; Michael and Val Thomas of
Northwood, Iowa; David and Trudy Tollefson of Coon Rapids,
Dan and Beth Tollefson of Farmington, Amy and Brian Nielsen
of Hartland and Rhiannan and Jared Combs of Mason City,
Iowa; paternal grandmother, Georgene Sculley of Austin;
aunt, LuAnne Sculley of Rochester, Minnesota; mother-in-law,
Barbara Johnson Vernio of Miami, Florida; one
brother-in-law, Michael Vernio of River Falls, Wisconsin; a
close friend, John Davis of Rochester; and many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death
by her maternal grandparents, Beryl and Floyd Wright; and
paternal grandfather, Ambrose Sculley.

Viola Alertson, 81, of Northwood, died on Thursday, June 22,
2006, at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Conner Colonial
Chapel, Northwood. Interment will be in the Sunset Rest
Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation was held on Monday, from
5-7:30 p.m., at the funeral home and then one hour before
the service on Tuesday.
Orpha
was born on August 29, 1924 in rural Northwood, Deer Creek
Township, the daughter of Osmon Tobias (Toby) and Lillie
(Christianson) Alertson. She was baptized and confirmed at
the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. She attended the #4
Worth County Country School. She was a member of the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Orpha
cleaned at the Interstate Power office for more than 30
years and many other businesses and family residents in
Northwood. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, crafting, and
putting puzzles together.
Left to cherish her memory

Chester W. Aldrich, age 85, of Northwood, Iowa, died on
Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Funera1 services were held
at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Bayview/Freeborn
Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Wallager will officiate.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the
funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery,
Glenville, with military honors accorded by the Glenville
American Legion and the Freeborn County Servicemen's
organization.
Chester Warren Aldrich,
was born on January 19, 1921 in Warsaw, Minnesota, the son
of Ira and Clara (Shigley) Aldrich. Chester attended the
Faribault High School and then served his country in the US
Navy.
He was united in marriage to Eleanor Woker on February 16,
1940, in Northwood, Iowa. Chester worked for Wilson and
Company in the Refrigeration Unit.
Chester was a member of the Glenville American Legion where
he served as Commander for two terms. He enjoyed hunting,
fishing, his horses and cattle and his companion "Joe"
his dog.
Chester is survived by his
wife, Eleanor of Northwood; children, Sandra and husband,
Ken Elwood, Gerald and wife, Harriet Aldrich, Dwight and
wife, Eloise Aldrich, Donna Aldrich and special friend,
Charles Johnson, Wanda and husband, Mark Julson and Debra
and husband, Duane Broitzman; 27 grandchildren; 53
great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grand-children;
one brother, Kenneth Aldrich; and sister-in-law, Ernestine
Meschke; and six nieces.
Chester was preceded in
death by his parents; three sons, Curtis, Chester and James;
one brother; and three sisters; and special brother-in-law,
Donald Meschke.
