Donald J. Olson, 89

March 13, 2007

Donald J. Olson, age 89, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 12, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Forest City, with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation was held
from 3-6:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 11, at the funeral home and also an hour prior to the services at the church. The Petersen Lund Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Born July 3, 1917, in Forest City, Donald John was the son of John A. and Ellen Matilda Drugg Olson. He was raised in Forest City, and graduated from the Forest City High School in 1935. After graduation, Don attended Waldorf College and later worked in his father's furniture store. Donald purchased the furniture store with his brother, Lloyd in 1940.

On March 3, 1942, Donald began his service with the Army Air Corps. During World War II, he served as a communications supply technician for a radio signal corps, having been stationed in India and China. In 1946, Sergeant Olson received his honorable discharge and returned to Iowa, where he enrolled in a cabinet making school in Des Moines. He then became employed by Maynard Eames Construction in Forest City.

On November 28, 1947, he married Alpha Jean Olson in Forest City. The couple moved to Hampton, where Don was employed at the Hampton Furniture Store. In 1953, he purchased the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store in Belmond, which he operated for 20 years. He sold the business in 1973 and worked part time for the Fullerton Lumber Company and Meyer Brothers Construction in Belmond. He later built speculation homes, delivered new Winnebago motor homes to dealers around the country and drove a school bus for the Belmond School District.

On May 10, 1974, Alpha Olson preceded her husband in death. Don moved back to his hometown of Forest City in 1978. On February 17, 1979, he married Eva Amelsberg.

Don was a charter member of the Belmond Bible Church (now known as the Evangelical Free Church) and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Forest City. In earlier years he found great success as a pitcher in the Belmond Church Softball League. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, playing checkers and card games. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his Wife, Eva of Forest City; three daughters, Anita (Jim) Davids of Urbandale, Jennifer (Steve) Brown of Ft. Dodge and Wendy Schulte of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; two sons, Kevin (Robin) Olson of Coon Rapids, Minnesota and Tim (Sally) Olson of Mt. Pleasant; a step-son, Jim (Lorraine) Amelsberg of Forest City; a step-daughter, Julie (Alan) Steiff of Brainerd, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Esther Trail of Roselle, Illinois; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alpha; one sister, Dorothy Westerberg; and a brother, Lloyd Olson.

William A. Edington, 62

March 12, 2007

William A. (Bill) Edington, 62, of Talihina, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Fort Smith, Arkansas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Catherine's of Siena, Talihina, Oklahoma, at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 10,  with Father Richard Christler officiating. A Rosary was held on Friday, March 9, at the St. Catherine's of Siena at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Iowa, with Father Henry Huber officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Johns Cemetery in Duncan. The arrangements were entrusted to the Talihina Funeral Home.

William was born in Danbury, Connecticut, on July 26, 1944, the son of the late Carl William and Mary (Barry) Edington. He grew up in Venezuela. At the age of 10, he moved to Florida and continued his education thru High School in Largo-Clearwater, Florida. He was the husband of Darlene  (Malek) Edington. They were married on February 23, 1974, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Iowa.

He worked in Central and South America. He worked in the boilermaker trade since 1966, in Brownsville, Texas to Bismarck, North Dakota and many points in between. The last five years in nuclear power plant outages in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. He retired in 2003.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse back riding, family outings, and the outdoors. He loved doting on his daughter.

He was a member of the St. Catherine's of Siena Catholic Church, National Transient Lodge of Boilermakers, Girl Scout Adults and the Catholic Workman Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene of the home; one daughter, Amanda F.A. Edington of the home; two cousins, Margaret Mary Murphy of Sheldon, Connecticut and Francis John  Costello of Connecticut; father-in-law, Ernest Malek of Britt, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Diane Hansen of Kanawha and Beverly Roberts of Cary, North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Duane Malek of Duncan, Ed Malek of Knoxville, Gary Malek and Marv Malek of Garner; and numerous nieces, nephews, Boilermaker brothers, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister; three infant brothers; and one nephew.

Russell W. Sheets, 45

March 12, 2007

Russell W. “Russ” Sheets, age 45, of Delaware, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 8, 2007, from injuries sustained in an airplane accident near West Mansfield in Logan County.

Friends were able to call on Sunday, March 11, from 3-6:00 p.m., at the Vineyard Church, Sunbury, Ohio. A Service Celebrating the life of Russell Sheets was held on Monday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m., at the Vineyard Church of Delaware County, with Pastor Dennis Stranges officiating. Interment was in the Cheshire Cemetery, Delaware, Ohio. The arrangements were entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.

Memorial contributions can be made to Big Walnut Friends Who Share, P. O. Box 424, Sunbury, Ohio 43074.

He was born on February 4, 1962 in Iowa City, Iowa. A graduate of the Britt High School in Iowa, he attended Kansas State University and The Ohio State University. He formerly owned and operated Salvation Aviation and Accountants on Call.

Russ was a devoted brother in Christ, a member of the Vineyard Church of Delaware County, EAA Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #9, IAC International Acrobatic Club Chapter #34 and a member of the NRA

A true aviator, he began flying at the age of 16 and won the International Aerobatic Championship in 1995. He also enjoyed skydiving, hiking, biking and camping with his family. A farm boy at heart, talented in numerous ways, he enjoyed tinkering in his shop, helping people, and knew more than a little about everything.

He was a mentor to many in small business, never knew a stranger, and found those who needed his help. Russ participated in the activities of his children by serving with the Boy Scouts and PTO of Buckeye Valley North in Radnor.

A servant of his church and Lord, he was devoted to his family and community.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (VanLoon) of 22 years, whom he met at the Delaware Airport and they were married in 1985; son, Marshall Everett; daughter, Reagan Nicole; father and step-mother, Elton (Jean) Sheets of Britt; brothers, Reed of Redwing, Minnesota, Ronald of South Africa and Randall (Una) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandfather, August (Norma) Santos of Chicago; mother-in-law, Louise VanLoon of Delaware; close cousin, Teresa & Bill Decker; as well as a multitude of friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores (Santos) Sheets.

Orville K. Sill, 85

March 20, 2007

Orville K. Sill, age 85, of Ottumwa, Iowa, formerly of Thompson, died on Sunday, March 11, 2007, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson, with Pastor Mark Decker officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson. Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 14, at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service at the church. The Petersen Lund Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Orville K. Sill, was born on a farm north of Thompson, Iowa, on June 17, 1921, the son of Paul and Ella (Johnson ) Sill. He received his education in country schools through the eighth grade and graduated from the Thompson High School.

Orville served for five years in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He ended his military career as a nose gunner on heavy Liberator Bombers in the European Theater. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to the Thompson area. On May 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Becker.

Orville worked as a bookkeeper for Peoples State Bank in Thompson for thirteen years. He worked with the County Assessor and was elected to serve as Winnebago County Supervisor. For many years he owned and operated a feed store in Thompson and drove a school bus for the Thompson School District.

At the age of 62 years, Orville retired and he and Lorraine moved to the Des Moines area, spending the winters in Arizona. He loved to play golf and go fishing. He liked sports and enjoyed cheering his grandchildren on in their athletic endeavors. Orville was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson and held memberships in the DAV, the VFW and the American Legion.

Orville is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine Sill of Ottumwa; and three children, Terry (Sandra) Sill of Mt. Vernon, Jane (Ervin) Burke of Ottumwa, Mark (Lisa) Sill of Ramsey, Minnesota; and eleven grandchildren, Erik, John, Anna, Kevin, Cassidy, Jill, Jenna, Jodi, Todd, Sarah and Hanah. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Ellen Sorenson of Woden, Floyd Sill of Wabasha, Minnesota and Winifred Larson of the Country of Panama.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Ken.

Richard B. Banken, 86

March 20, 2007

Richard B. Banken, age 86, formerly of Forest City, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, with Pastor Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial was in the Elk Creek Cemetery in rural Kensett. Visitation was held on Friday, March 16, at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service at the church. The Petersen Lund Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Richard B. Banken, was born in Hanlontown, Iowa, on January 9, 1921, the son of Halvor and Beulah (Highsmith) Banken. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from the Mason City High School in 1939. He was united in marriage to Deloris Hogen on November 25, 1943 in Kensett.

Richard was co-owner of The Cherokee Floral in Cherokee, Iowa for ten years and purchased the Forest City Greenhouse in 1956 and sold it in 1975. He worked at Winnebago Industries, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Waldorf College. In 1980 he was the grower and manager of McCoy's Greenhouse.

Richard was active in community affairs. He served on the Forest City Planning and Zoning Committee for fifteen years. He served on the Board of Trustees of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Kum Along Klub.

Richard is survived by two daughters, Kathy and her husband, Rev. Don Hodson of Coralville, Iowa and Becky and her husband, Dale Havel of Olmstead Falls, Ohio; grandsons, Lee Hodson and his wife, Jennifer of Chicago, Illinois and Adam Havel of Cleveland, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Avery; one sister, Pat Morgan of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Velma B. Munson, 85

March 20, 2007

Velma Bernice Munson, died on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the St. Mary's Care Center, surrounded by her nieces.

Funeral services were held at the Petersen-Lund Funeral Home, on Sunday, March 18, 2007, with Pastor Hagen presiding. Visitation was from Noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Carmel Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana, at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 23, 2007.

Velma was born on May 17, 1921, the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Schauf) Hanna on the home farm in Grant Township, rural Woden, Iowa. She attended the Grant District 7 Township School and the Buffalo Center Consolidated High School. Velma graduated in May, 1939, with a Normal Training Teacher's Certificate. Teaching jobs in Iowa included, Linden Township, Grant District 8, and Clear Lake.

On May 30, 1944, Velma married 1st Lt. Arthur C. Munson of Camp Shelby, Mississippi. The marriage took place at the Lutheran Chapel in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Following the war, Velma and Art moved to La Crescent, Minnesota, where Art was employed by Allis Chalmers. They lived there until 1969 when Allis Chalmers transferred Art and Velma to La Porte, Indiana. In later years, both Art and Velma worked for the Department of Corrections until retirement in 1978.

She and Art were members of the Bethany Lutheran Church in La Porte. Velma loved to garden, sew, quilt, and had a keen eye for fashion. She loved the Tetons and made frequent trips there with niece, Joline and her family. Many of her twenty nieces and nephews are blessed to have a handmade quilt or afghan with the special tag, "from Velma, made with love." Her sewing club, Wanatah, and her neighborhood bridge club were dear to her heart. Val especially loved to talk and laugh. And talk and laugh. And talk.

Following Art's death, Velma moved to Madison, Wisconsin, in November 2004, to be close to three nieces. She filled their lives with love, humor, and a twinkle in her eye.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; her parents, Alfred and Helen Hanna; brothers, Donald, Alfred Jr. and Richard; sister, Arlene Steffen; and brothers-in-law, Vernon Steffen and Bud Kohls.

She is survived by her sisters, Althea (Kenneth) Brager of Forest City and Norma Jean Kohls of Waterloo; sisters-in-law, Eldora Hanna of Decorah, Jewel Hanna of Woodbine, Kentucky and Virginia Hanna of Mesa, Arizona; twenty nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the St. Mary's Care Center Staff who made Val's stay so homey and comfortable, to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Staff for their support, and to Rhonda Heise of UW Clinics who helped the family in so many ways.

Val brought joy to others and now may she experience some of that joy herself!

Rose Ann Hanson, 88

March 20, 2007

Rose Ann (Kratochvil) Hanson, age 88, of Lake Crystal, died on Sunday, March 18, 2007.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 24, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Lake Crystal, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m., on Friday, at the Lake Crystal Mortuary, with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, rural Lake Crystal.  Memorials may be given to VINE, American Heart Association, or Holy Family Catholic Church.

Rose was born on July 27, 1918, to Barbara and Frank Kratochvil in Britt, Iowa. After graduation from the Britt High School in 1936, Rose attended St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and graduated in 1939. She served as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas from 1940-1945, and later at Waseca Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. 

Rose married Orville Hanson on February 17, 1947 at Buffalo Center, Iowa. For most of their married life, they lived on their farm near Lake Crystal, where they raised their five children. 

Rose was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and its women's group, Extension Club, Lake Crystal Garden Club, and a volunteer at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. 

Rose enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, playing cards, dancing, the Czech heritage, and visiting grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

Among those who cherish Rose's memory are her children, Karyn Divine of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Arlene (Russell) Larson of Alexandria, Paul Hanson of Lake Crystal, Barbara (Keith) Luck of Maplewood and Alan (Vickie) Hanson of Mankato; as well as eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  Rose is also survived by sisters-in-law, Velma Hanson, Charlene Hanson and Lyllah Mae Norland.

Rose's family members who have died include her husband, Orville; twin daughter, Eileen; two infant sisters, Ludimilla and Marie; sisters, Helen and Mary Elizabeth “Bess”; and parents, Barbara and Frank Kratochvil.

Jemima Hansen, 96

Jemima Hansen, 96, formerly of Joice, died on Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the USA Healthcare in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in rural Joice, with Rev. Kevin Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Betheran Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Marjorie Gustafson, 82

March 27, 2007

Marjorie Gustafson, age 82, of Taylors Falls, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 26, at the First Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls. Funeral arrangements were made by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola, Wisconsin and interment was in the Kahbakong Cemetery.

Marjorie was born on August 28, 1924 in Forest City, to Roy and Clara Hanson.

Marjorie is survived by her sons, Richard (Carol) of Hudson and Roger (Gail) of Taylors Falls; daughter-in-law, Jane Trahms of Rochester; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.

Geraldine M. Dunfee, 91

March 27, 2007

Geraldine M. Dunfee, age 91, of Forest City, died on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m., at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City, with Pastor Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation was held an hour prior to the funeral service.

Geraldine Mae Dunfee, was born in El Reno, Oklahoma on January 13, 1916, the daughter of Earl and Kathryn (Shaw) Ford. She received her schooling in Buena Vista County and attended the German Church and the Lutheran Church in Albert City, Iowa.

She worked at the Cunningham Home and enjoyed doing crocheting and needlework.

She was married to Russell L. Dunfee on December 9, 1945, at the home of her parents in Britt. The couple lived in the Britt and Crystal Lake areas. Russell passed away in 1975.

Geraldine moved to Forest City in 1976. She enjoyed going uptown for lunch and coffee hour and liked the fellowship she found at the First Congregational Church. She loved celebrating Christmas and the holidays with her family and she so enjoyed having small children around her.

She entered the Good Samaritan Home in Forest City on April 20, 1993.

Geraldine is survived by a sister, Roberta and her husband, Dale Newell of Mason City; cousins, Marie Herron of Alta, Iowa and Jessie Williams of El Reno, Oklahoma; nieces, Bonnye Reineke and husband, Adolph of Forest City, Sharon Newell  and Karolyn Hoffman of Clear Lake.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Russell on January 3, 1975.

Cora Elizabeth Jenkins, 96

April 3, 2007

Cora Elizabeth Jenkins, 96, died on Monday March 26, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral service was held on Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Fertile Lutheran Church, with Lay Minister David Halverson officiating. Interment was in the Brush Point Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday, at the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, in Clear Lake.

Cora Elizabeth Suby, was born on September 29, 1910 in Hanlontown, the daughter of Andrew Peter and Celia (Halverson) Suby. She attended the Fertile Schools.

Cora was united in marriage to Lawrence Jenkins on October 27, 1928, at the Fertile Lutheran parsonage and to this union six children were born. Cora was a homemaker and later worked at Winnebago in the stitchcraft department. She lived in Fertile all her life until moving to Clear Lake in 1986.

Cora was a life time member of the Fertile Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She was very active in church, Senior Citizens, and the Rebecca Lodge. She greatly enjoyed sewing, crocheting, wallpapering, camping and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.

Cora is survived by her children, Frances (Robert) Cates of Mason City, Lanny (Sandy) Jenkins of Forest City, Connie (Wayne) Dirks of Clear Lake and Bonnie (Mike) Secory of Clear Lake; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ann Jenkins of Colorado; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence “Bud” Jenkins; two daughters, Norma Jean Tarr and Cheri Hascup; one grandson, Jason Jenkins; four sisters; and seven brothers.

Audrey Hill, 78

April 3, 2007

Audrey Mae Hill, 78, of Kanawha, died on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at her home following a long illness. Private graveside memorial services will be held at a later date.

Audrey was born on April 12, 1928 in rural Kanawha, to Knute and Clara (Shaw) Fosen. She graduated from the Kanawha High School and attended Waldorf College for teaching. She married Harold G. Hill on September 4, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Audrey was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, was the Hancock County TB Association President, and a member of the Hancock County Historical Society. She taught Sunday School and Bible Study for many years and was active with 4-H. She enjoyed visiting with people and family and liked to sew.

Survivors include her husband, Harold; two sons, Spencer (Joice) Hill and Rex (Deb) Hill, both of Kanawha; two daughters, Emily Hill of Kanawha and Teresa (Duane) Herman of Mason City; and two sisters, Eva (John) Johnson of Kanawha and Wanda (Richard) Belden of Manchester.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Nathanial, Patrea, Remington, Molly, Haley, Lanse, Hillary and Aaron; and six great-grandchildren, Kelly Jo, Lilly, Ethan, Zackary, Teaghan, and Colin.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association, Kanawha Lutheran Church, or the Kanawha Emergency Medical Technician program in Audrey's name.

The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa, is assisting with the arrangements.

Richard A. Green, 78

April 10, 2007

Richard Allen Green, Sr., 78, died on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient in Mason City.

A celebration of life was held at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel in Mason City, with Pastor Jeff Dahli officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard Allen Green, Sr., was born on April 12, 1928 in Forest City, the son of Lynn and Belle (Davidson) Green. He attended schools in Forest City, where he was a graduate of the Forest City High School in 1946.

Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country until being honorably discharged. Following his discharge he attended the Hamilton Business College in Mason City. On June 15, 1950, Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Billings at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Shortly after their marriage Richard was called back to duty for the Army until 1952. He worked for Lehigh for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. In 1990, he worked for the Census Bureau as a field supervisor.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, car shopping, radio auctions, and especially spending time with his family.

He was a member of the American Legion and Ducks Unlimited.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy of Mason City; children, Richard Jr. (Denise) Green of Granger, Patty Callahan of Mason City, Kathy (Charlie) Schroeder of Mason City and Sue (Kirk) Knudtson of North Liberty; grandchildren, Hans Schroeder of Mason City, Amy (David) Lester of Norwalk, Katie Callahan of Mason City and Sarah Knudtson of North Liberty; great-grandchildren, Christian, Alec, Alison and Rowen; one sister, Joann (Gus) Bartleson, of Forest City; one brother, Myron (Dorothy) Green of Mason City, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Belle; and one sister, Audrey.

Terry J. Gatton, Sr., 56, of Swea City, passed away on Friday March 30, 2007, in Waverly, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Britt, with Rev. Mike Orthel officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel in Britt and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Margreete B. Tjaden, 104, of Garner, died on Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner, with Rev. Linzy Collins, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Bingham Township Cemetery south of Woden.

Visitation was held from 4-7:00 p.m., on Monday, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner and continued one hour prior to the services at the church.

Ona M. Nessa, 96, of Britt and formerly of Forest City, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Britt, with Pastor Lee Nelson and Janelle Siffring AiM officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City, at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 2, 2007, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel in Britt and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday, April 3, 2007.

Jake L. Husinga, 87

April 3, 2007

Jake L. Husinga, age 87, a resident of the Concord Care Center in Garner and long time resident of Woden and Forest City, passed away at the Care Center in Garner on Friday, March 30, 2007. There was no visitation.

A short graveside service was held in the Woden Christian Reformed Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2007.

A Memorial Service was held at the Britt Christian Reformed Church in Britt, on Monday, April 2, 2007, with Pastor Joel DeBoest officiating.

The Petersen Lund Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
