Dr. Vincent G. Reuter, 83, of Tempe, Arizona, died
on Monday, August 1,
2005, from complications of Parkinson's disease.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August
5, in Tempe.
Vincent was born on September 27, 1921 in Gilbertville, the oldest
of eight children. He grew up in Mason City and graduated from the Saint Joseph High
School. Vincent earned an AA Degree in Engineering from the Mason City Junior
College, then enlisted in the Army. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1971.
He then attended the University of Iowa earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1947 and a
Master of Arts Degree in 1948 and a PhD in 1952. He met and married the love of
his life, Clara Ranalletta, while working for Curtis Wright Aircraft Engines in
Woodbridge, New Jersey in 1956. In 1961, Vincent began his work at Arizona State
University as an Associate Professor. He retired from teaching and research in
1988.
Vincent is survived by his wife; son, John Reuter of Tempe;
and daughter, Christine (Daniel) Beckman of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren, Bridget
and Elliot Beckman; sisters, Marguerite Johnson of Johnston, Joanne (Vince)
Coyle of Deadwood, South Dakota and Marlene Reuter of Mason City; many nieces and nephews
including Joe (Vicki) Reuter of Mason City, Tom (Pam) Reuter of Forest City and
Jane (Fred) Ogez of Forest Lake, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecilia
(Pint) Reuter; brother, Wildred Reuter; and sisters, Marilyn Young-Reuter,
Dolores Reuter and Rosemary Reuter.

Mildred M. Beyer, 79, of Fertile, died on Wednesday, August 3,
2005, at home.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 9, at
the Major Erickson
Funeral Home in Mason City, with Rev. Samuel Hamilton-Poore officiating.
Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mildred M., the daughter of Glen and Hazel (Busick) Schader,
was born on June 8, 1926 in Osceola. She graduated from the Council Bluffs High
School. Mildred married Stanton Conger and they later were divorced. She married
Ronald E. Beyer on June 10, 1978 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Mildred worked for Winnebago
Industries for 12 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge
and VFW. She enjoyed camping and pets, especially her dog, Mitzi.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Ron of Fertile; son, Bob
(Linda) Conger of Osceola; daughters, Cindy (Kenny) Meier of Blue Grass and
Susan Franklin of Arizona; grandchildren, Micki, Stevi and Marti Meier, all of
Blue Grass; and a brother, Bob (Beverly) Schader of Osceola.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Robert Kraakevik, 70

Robert Louis Kraakevik, 70, of Garland, Texas, died
on Thursday,
August 4, 2005, in Garland.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 8, at
the Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland, with burial in the DFW National Cemetery.
Robert was born on September 14, 1934 in Chicago,
Illinois, to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kraakevik. Bob was a 1952 graduate of
the Forest City High School and a
1954 graduate of Waldorf College. He served in the Air Force and was
honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sgt., receiving the Good Conduct
and Air Force Commendation medals. Bob earned a Master of Liberal Arts,
SMU and a Master of Library Science, TWU. He was a reference librarian
at the South Garland Library.
He was an active member of the McLaughlin
Bible Class at First Baptist, Dallas.
Bob is survived
by his wife Joy; daughters, Kay Martin, Jan Kneupper and Jeanne Trieger;
and 10 grandchildren.

Donald R. Sunne, 78

Donald R. Sunne, 78, of Fertile, died on Friday, August 5, 2005,
at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services were held on
Monday, August 8, at the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church in rural Forest City, with Rev.
Bob Snitzer officiating. Burial was on Tuesday, August 9, at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery
in Menomonie, Wisconsin, with the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Donald R. Sunne, was born in Wakesha, Wisconsin
on May 26, 1927, the
son of Oscar and Hazel (Copp) Sunne. Donald grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He
served his country in the US Navy during WW II in the Philippine Islands. On May
28, 1949, he was united in marriage with Ruth Irvine at the Peace Lutheran Church in
Menomonie. Four children were born to this union. Don worked in plumbing sales.
In 1961, the family moved to Fertile. Don retired from Wolverine Brass in 1998.
Don's faith was an important part of his life. He was baptized and confirmed at
the
First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and taught Sunday School and served on
church councils throughout his adult life. He also served on the Board of
Regents for Waldorf College in Forest City for 12 years. The Christian legacy he
left is treasured by his family and friends and his sense of humor will never be
forgotten.
Don is survived by his wife, Ruth of Fertile; three
daughters, Susan (Roger) Ouverson of Vinton, Julia (Edward) Olson of Joice and
Mary (Dennis) Lee of Zumbrota, Minnesota; one son, David (Julie) Sunne of Dundee;
a sister, Doris (James) Anderson of Laguna Vista, Texas; and by his 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and
brother-in-law, Marilyn and Melvin Oien.
Although the family grieves his loss, we rejoice in knowing
that Don is in the loving arms of his heavenly Father.

Mike Wolfe, 94

L. B. "Mike" Wolfe, 94, of Fertile, died on Friday August 5,
2005, at the USA Healthcare, Mason City.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday,
August 9, at the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church, rural Forest City, with Pastors Robert Snitzer and Lindsay Jordan officiating. Burial was
in the Brush Point Cemetery,
rural Fertile with the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel of Clear Lake in charge of
the arrangements.
L. B. "Mike" Wolfe, was born on April 17, 1911 in Blairstown,
the son of Arthur and Alma (Dolge) Wolf. Mike attended school in Regina,
Saskatchewan, Canada and Forest City. He was united in marriage with Ruth Myhre
on
August 26, 1936 in Fertile. They farmed in the Fertile-Forest City area. He
enjoyed working together with his neighbors and also did custom work, such as
combining and baling. Mike loved his family and liked to "romp" with his
grandchildren and tell stories. They will always remember grandpa with his
striped overalls.
Mike enjoyed watching boxing and was once a boxer in his
younger days. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan. He also enjoyed fishing
in northern Minnesota and Ontario, Canada and woodworking. Mike was a member of
the Fertile Lutheran Church and later the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church, Fertile
Consolidated School Board of Education, Board of the Fertile Creamery and the
Fertile Lion's Club. He also was the Cerro Gordo Weed Commissioner for several
years.
Mike is survived by his four children, Deanna (Raymond)
Jordan of Fertile, Harold Wolfe of Clear Lake, Robert (Sandra) Wolfe of Clear
Lake and Linda (Lowell) Nuehring of Clear Lake; 14 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; son,
Bernard; brothers, Marvin and Kenneth; and sisters, Greta Hansler, Maxine Otis
and Marian Waller.

Goldie A. Johnson, 95, died on Friday, August 5, 2005, at the
Parkview Care Center in Wells, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 9,
at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Chapel in Wells, Minnesota with Pastor Paul Baker
officiating. Interment was in the Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault
County, Minnesota.
Goldie was born on July 15, 1910 in Monango, North Dakota,
the daughter of Henry C. and Daisy (Gregory) Buendorf. On December 30, 1930, Goldie
was united in marriage with Alvin Johnson. She lived most of her life in Wells
and lived the past two years at The Shepherd's Inn in Wells. She worked at
Banquet Foods for 17 years prior to her retirement.
Goldie was a member of the Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells and had been an active member of Love Circle,
the Wells VFW Auxiliary and the Wells Senior Citizens.
She is survived by daughters, Darlyne and her husband, Richard Espeland
of Forest City and Coni and her husband, Alan Olson of Wells; one son, LaMar and his wife, Bev of Wells; two sisters, Marie Johnson and husband, Vernon
of Wells and Loretta Bendickson of Huntsville, Alabama; 12 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin;
a son, Ralph in December 2000; two brothers, Earl and Merle and his wife, Ruby Buendorf; a sister, Greta in infancy; and a brother-in-law, James Bendickson.

David Miller, 77, died on Sunday, August 7, 2005, at his home in
Renwick.
David Christian Miller, was born on October 9, 1927 at
Milton, Pennsylvania, to Jennings and Florence (Mildred) Kinsinger Miller. He was
baptized in the Methodist faith. David moved with his family to Chicago,
Illinois, as a young boy. He graduated from the Lane Tech School in 1945 and served
his country towards the end of World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1945 until
1948. He was a Seaman Second Class and was a Corpsman, serving in China on the
USS Benovelence and the USS Repose. After his service, David was married to
Marilyn Attig on July 1, 1951 at Renwick. The couple lived in the Chicago area,
where he was a draftsman and designer until 1991. During this time, David worked
on projects for Avon and Walt Disney.
While in Chicago, David was active in the
Calvary United Methodist Church. He served on several committees and was active
in choir and men's dartball at the church. He enjoyed singing and was active in
the West Towns Barbershop Chorus, Lombard Chapter of SPEBSQSA. He was also a
member of the Friendly Overtures, a Men's Barbershop Quartet. After his
retirement, David and Marilyn moved to Renwick. David's wife, Marilyn preceded
him in death on August 9, 2000. He was married to Donna Classon Nerem on
September 6, 2003, at Forest City. The couple shared their time living in
Renwick and Forest City. They also enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Each
year, David looked forward to hosting the family and friends reunion at his home
in Renwick. David was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and wood and soap
carvings. He also enjoyed gardening and golfing.
David is survived by his wife, Donna of Forest City and
Renwick; his children, Carol Fleming and husband, Jim of Naperville, Illinois, John
Miller and wife, Becky of Dalhart, Texas, James Miller and wife, Cyndi of Aurora,
Illinois, Donna Schreur and husband, Charles of Kirkland, Illinois and Robert
Miller of Rockford, Illinois; his stepson, Larry Nerem of Forest
City; his stepdaughter, Joleene Hart and husband, Steve of Savonberg, Kansas; 30 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
his sister, Nancy Miller of Bartlet, Illinois; and his brother, Alan Miller and wife, Sue
of Park
Ridge, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife,
Marilyn; his son, Kenneth; and three brothers, Jennings, Don and George.

Olive G. Gilbertson, 89, of Forest City, died on Wednesday,

Rev. Ted Gullixson officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City,

Olive Geneva, was born on May 13, 1916 in Winnebago County, near
Joice, the daughter of Gilbert and Cora (Myre) Tweeten. Olive was baptized and
confirmed at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills. She attended rural
school at the Dahlen School in Mt. Valley Township and graduated from the Lake
Mills High School in 1933. She attended Waldorf Academy for three years and
graduated from a one-year business course at Waldorf College in 1934. Olive was
united in marriage to Leonard Gilbertson on July 23, 1936. Leonard and Olive
owned and operated the Forest City Hatchery for several years. She worked eight
years at the Forest City Canning Company and for over twenty years at Greatwestern Products Company, retiring in 1983.
Olive was a long time member of
the Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church and active in ladies aid. She served on the
altar committee for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and
enjoyed her family, baking, flowers and gardening.
Olive is survived by her children, Allan and his wife, Donna
of Forest City and James and his wife, Karen of Prairie Village, Kansas; five
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister,
Ruth Holtan; four brothers, James Tweeten, Stanley Tweeten, Lutheran Tweeten and
Maynard Tweeten; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother; husband;
and two brothers, Komer Johnson and Alvin Tweeten.

Margaret Johnson, 80, of Thompson, died at her rural Thompson
home on Friday, August 12, 2005.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 16, at
the Bethlehem
Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center, with Mr. Perry Aalgaard officiating. Burial
was in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Vinje, with the Winter Funeral Home of Buffalo
Center in charge of the arrangements.
Margaret Alicia, the daughter of Russell Alexander and Vivian
Esther (Rush) Nuzum, was born on June 23, 1925 in Mower County, Minnesota. When
she was three, her parents moved to a farm near Wick, then later to a farm near
St. Charles. She was confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in St. Charles. She
lived with her aunt and uncle, Estella and Sophus Carstens, near Burchinal
during her high school years, graduating from the Swaledale High School in 1943.
Following graduation, Marge attended the Hamilton Business College in Mason City.
When she was 19 she met the love of her life, Harland Everette Johnson, at the
Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. They were married on September 20, 1945 at the Miller
Lutheran Church. After Harland was released from active duty in 1946, Harland
and Marge farmed near Miller for three years, before moving to rural Thompson,
where they shared 52 years.
As a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo
Center, she taught Sunday School and Bible School, served as Ladies Aid
President, quilted for Lutheran World Relief and sang in the Loren Larson's
Choir.
Marge is survived by daughters, Ruth Docy of Amherst New York
and Patricia (Marcus) Jensvold of Houston, Texas; sons, Harland (Sandy) Johnson
of Thompson and Ned (Myra) Johnson of Montfort, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte (Joe) Rognehaugh of Forest City,
Corleen (Merrill) Hayden of St. Charles and Carolyn (Larry) Taylor of Sonon; a
brother, Raymond Nuzum of Winterset; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Warren
V. Rasmussen, 81, of Forest City, died on Sunday, August 14, 2005, at the Good
Samaritan Center in Forest City.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,
August 17, at 10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, with Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be
in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City, with
the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m.,
on Tuesday, August 16, with the family greeting friends from 5-7:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the services.
Warren Virgil, was born in St. Paul, Minnesota
on November 25, 1923,
the son of Helmer and Bernice (Stevens) Rasmussen. Due to his mother's illness,
Warren was raised in Rake by his grandmother. He returned to St. Paul and
graduated from high school there. Warren served in the U.S. Navy during WW II,
spending time aboard the USS Vega in the South Pacific Theater. Following his
honorable discharge from the service, he returned home. On March 15, 1947, he
was united in marriage with Mavis Ann Anderson at the Liberty Lutheran Church in
Rake.
The couple lived for a time in St. Paul where Warren was active in the
Drum and Bugle Corps in Minneapolis. They then farmed for several years in the
Thompson-Lake Mills area. Warren began working as a carpenter and stone mason.
He and his family lived in many communities throughout Iowa, Minnesota and
Wisconsin as he worked building churches and nursing homes. In 1967, the family
moved to Forest City. Warren worked for Forester Industries for 16 years and
continued with Winnebago Industries for another 10 years before retiring.
He was
a talented musician and played the trumpet, banjo, clarinet and sang. He was a
member of the Leland VFW Post and the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City.
Warren enjoyed refinishing furniture, rosemaling and did cabinetry work.
Warren is survived by his wife, Mavis Ann Rasmussen of Forest
City; three sons, Steven (Linda) Rasmussen of Des Moines, David (Joyce)
Rasmussen of Jefferson and Gary (Michelle) Rasmussen of Stuart; 16
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Larene and Beverly
Anderson; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ronald and Joyce Anderson of Buffalo
Center; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Elaine and Dale Nerdig of Forest
City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris
Lucy.

Fern Bruckhoff, 87, of Forest City, formerly of Kiester,
Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest
City.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 22, at
the Grace United Methodist Church in
Kiester, with Rev. Lynn Borgeson officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery,
Kiester.
Fern Helen, the daughter of Monte and Eva Mae (Ford) Conrad,
was born on June 7, 1918 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fern graduated from the Wells High School in
1936 and attended Teachers' Training. She taught first grade reading and
arithmetic at county school. She also was a receptionist and bookkeeper for
several businesses in the area. She was united in marriage with W. A. "Pete" Bruckhoff in Marshall, Minnesota on June 12, 1942. She was a member of
the Grace United
Methodist Church in Kiester.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Floyd) Trent of
Lewisville, Texas, Richard (Susan) Bruckhoff of Carrollton, Texas, Paul (Debbie)
Bruckhoff of Rowlett, Texas and Bruce (Carrie) Bruckhoff of Forest City; five
grandchildren, Adam Bruckhoff of Lewisville, Texas, Matt Bruckhoff of Atlanta,
Georgia, Jason (Jessica) Bruckhoff of Forest City and Joshua and Jenna Bruckhoff of
Forest City; a great-grandson, Carter Bruckhoff of Forest City; brothers,
Carroll Conrad of Two Harbors, Minnesota and Don (Peggy) Conrad of Abilene, Texas;
sisters-in-law, Gwen Bruckhoff of Wells, Minnesota, Mildred (George) Stencel of
Minnesota Lake, Minnesota and Hildred Hoechst of Mapleton, Minnesota; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; and her

M. Damm, 76, of Forest City, died on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at her home in
Forest City.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 23, at the Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Forest City, with Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial was in the Madison
Township Cemetery in Forest City, with the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in charge of
the arrangements.
Viola Marie, the daughter of Carl and Mae (Olson) Caltvedt,
was born on November 8, 1928, on a farm near McCallsburg. The family lived on farms
near Ellsworth and Williams, then lived in Roland and McCallsburg where her
father drove a Phillips 66 truck and delivered gas to farmers. In 1941, Viola's
parents bought a farm near Leland. Viola graduated from the Lake Mills High School
in 1947. She was united in marriage with Emil Junior Damm on January 7, 1951.
The couple made their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Emil was serving in
the U.S. Army at Camp Carson. In 1953, the family moved to Forest City and have
lived here since.
Viola was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City
where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Rachel Circle. She served
as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and for many years was an election poll
worker. Other memberships include the Kum Along Club and the American Legion
Auxiliary. She was the family historian and helped published two books on
genealogy. She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and 500 and loved playing games
with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, a wonderful cook and a loving
wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Emil; a son, David and his
wife, Sandy and their children, Josh and Jessica; daughter, Linda and her husband,
Mike Smith and their children, Megan and Matt; son, Michael Damm and Julie Damm
and their children, Nick and Nathan; and son, Steven Damm; a
sister-in-law, Dorothy Caltvedt; two nieces, Darlene Dobell and husband, Dwight
and Betty Jean Caltvedt; a nephew, Calvin Caltvedt; and a great-niece, Amanda Caltvedt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clifford;
a nephew, Daryl Caltvedt; and a sister-in-law, Eva Damm.

E. Schuler, 87, of Forest City, died on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at the Good
Samaritan Center in Forest City.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August
24, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Christ in Fertile, with Pastor Curt Gallmeyer
officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will
be from 5-6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 23, at the funeral home and an hour prior to
the
services at the church. The Petersen Lund Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Iva E., the daughter of Ben and Ellen (Roath) Miller, was
born on May 26, 1918 near Klemme. Iva graduated from the Fertile High School in 1936
and Hamilton Business College in 1960. She was employed at the Clear Lake
Medical Center, Montgomery Ward Credit Office and Furst-McNess Products of
Freeport, Illinois, until her retirement in 1980 when she returned to Forest
City to live.
She enjoyed camping and horse back riding with her children and
grandchildren. Family was very important to her and she prized her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Iva was a life-long member of the Fertile Church of
Christ and her faith was an important part of her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Judi Larson of Forest City; a
son, Jim and his wife, Lenor Schuler of Farmer City, Illinois; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glen Miller of
Marshall, Texas, Amos Miller of Lafayette, Indiana and Orland Miller of Hot
Springs, South Dakota; three sisters, Leona Meeks of Freeport, Illinois, Viola
Roberts of Fertile and Verna Butts of San Leandro, California; and a sister-in-law,
Corrine Miller of Clear Lake.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Verle
and Alvin Miller; a son, Dennis; a grandson, Jon Larson; and a son-in-law, Elmer
Larson.

William S. Ebaugh Jr., 63, of Forest City, died
on Tuesday,
August 23, 2005, at his home in Forest City.
Funeral services were held on Saturday,
August 27, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City, with Pastor Catherine
Luck officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City, with the Petersen
Lund Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
William Stanley Ebaugh Jr., was born in Forest City on January
17, 1942, the son of W. Stanley and Jane (Talbott) Ebaugh. William graduated
from the Forest City High School in 1960 and attended Iowa State University in Ames.
He served in the United State Air Force from 1964 to 1968. Following his
honorable discharge from the service, he returned to the Midwest and made his
home in Chicago. He later moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, area where he worked for
the Honeywell Corporation. In 1988, he married Janay Coleman in Lawrenceville,
Georgia. The couple moved to Forest City in 2003 where Bill was currently
working for Winnebago Industries.
He is survived by his wife, Janay Ebaugh of Forest City; his
mother, Jane Ebaugh of Forest City; a son and his wife, Mark and Dagmar Ebaugh of
Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Kristin Ebaugh of Huntsville, Alabama; step-son,
Jeremy Coleman of Forest City; a sister, Mary Hatlevig of Iowa Falls; a brother,
Mike Ebaugh of Forest City; and nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father; and his
grandparents.

Irene Erickson Oien, 87, of Rake, died on Saturday, August 27,
2005, at the United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be held on
Wednesday, August 31, 11:00 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, with Rev. Larry Rehlander officiating. Family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to
the services. Inurnment will be in the Wood Lawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at a
later date.

KLEMME—Leon K.
Gelner, 95, of Klemme, died on Monday, August 29, 2005, at the Muse-Norris
Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services were held on Thursday,
September 1, at the Klemme United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paddy Druhl
officiating. Music was provided by organist, Margaret Tue who accompanied
a congregational hymn and a vocal duet of Angela Best and Crystal Greiman. Ushers were Bob Scott and Carl Heginger. Casket bearers were
Gary Gelner, Bill Renner, Matt Hanson, Ron Hanson, Ken Hanson, Dr.
Steven Stokesbary, Michael Boyd, Ryan Gelner and Randy Gelner. Burial
was in the Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City, with the Cataldo Funeral Home
of Garner in charge of the arrangements.
Leon Karl Gelner, the son of Ferdnand and Amelia (Stiehl)
Gelner, was born on March 12, 1910, on a farm south of Forest City. He
attended school at Madison Township No. 6 and farmed with his parents.
On April 7, 1934, he was married to Wava Nelson at Northwood. To this
union four children were born, Janice, Jerald, Shirley and Leora. Leon
worked for Hancock County as a caterpillar operator and later for Herman
Buns Construction. While farming, they sold Hybrid corn seed and Triple
F feed. On March 2, 1956, he married Nova T. Koerner Stokesbary at
Albert Lea, Minnesota. They made their home in Klemme and later started the
Mix-Mill Feed Business.
They enjoyed traveling throughout the United
States, Europe, Alaska and wintering in Hawaii. Leon was active
throughout his life enjoying boating, square dancing, camping, bowling,
playing softball and especially golfing at the Slippery Elm Golf Course
in Klemme, where he was not only a board member, he was also a mentor to
all. He always looked forward to visiting with his friends at congregate
meals in Klemme. He was a member of the Klemme United Methodist Church
and IOOF.
Leon is survived by his children, Janice Whitehurst
of Clear Lake, Jerald (Suzee) Gelner of Laveen, Arizona and Shirley Feaver of Aguanga, California; grandchildren, Janice (Eugene) Weis, Jeannine
(Douglas) Thompson, Jeri (Steve) Sphon, Kenneth (Jean) Hanson, Ronald
(Celeste) Hanson, Ronda Ryan, Ryan Gelner, Michael Boyd, Dana Williams
and Randy Gelner; 25 great-grandchildren; step-children, Janice (Marvin)
Janssen of Garner, Jerry (Sharon) Stokesbary of Mason City and Julie
(Bill) Renner of Garner; step-grandchildren, Dr. Steven (Sheryl)
Stokesbary, Jill (Todd) Thorson, Sue (Tom) Gilland, Sandra (Brent)
Schupanitz, Jodi (Jason) Cagle, Angela (Michael) Best, Stacie (Lance)
Harrison and Crystal (Wade) Greiman; 16 step-great grandchildren; two
sisters, Ruth Brown of Garner and Doris Isaacson of Northwood; a
sister-in-law, Blanche Gelner of Britt; along with many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife,
Wava Nonnweiler in 1986; second wife, Nova on December 17, 2001; daughter, Leora Gelner McComb; son-in-law, Orvin Whitehurst; brothers, Donald and
Harvey Gelner; sister, Bernice Dahlhauser; nephew, Carol Dahlhauser; and
a niece, Patricia Dahlhauser.

Jameson Bridges

Jameson DeWayne Kelly Bridges, the
son of Ryan and Jamie (Smith) Bridges, was born at the Methodist Hospital in
Rochester, Minnesota, on Tuesday, August 30, 2005. He spent an hour in the loving
arms of his mom and dad before slipping away.
A private family service
was held with burial in the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.
The Petersen Lund Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his parents, Ryan
and Jamie Bridges; two brothers, Maisen and Avery Ochoa; two sisters,
Daly and Cheyenne Ochoa, all of Forest City; grandparents, James Smith of
Des Moines and Mike and Ruth Bridges of Gamer; great-grandparents,
Ronald and Darlene Bridges of Garner; great-grandmother, Florence Gilbert
of Loveland, Colorado; great-great-grandmother, Lavon Bridges of Dows;
and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jameson was preceded in death by
his grandmother, Joanna Daly-Smith; great-grandfather, Warren K. Gilbert;
and two uncles, Joe Fisher and Sean Smith.
