Accident claims two Scarville men
February 5, 2003
A single-vehicle accident claimed two lives on Saturday, February 1, one and a half miles west of Scarville on Winnebago County Road A-16.
Michael Langerud, 28, and Brandon Hugo, 20, both of Scarville were killed when the 1996 Dodge pick-up driven by Langerud lost control and went into the south ditch. It proceeded east bound in the ditch, hitting a farm drive and becoming airborne before coming to rest on its top.
Robert Nelson, 17, of Lake Mills was transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Assisting on the scene were the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department, Lake Mills Police, Fire and Ambulance and the Scarville Fire Department.
