Faith Elizabeth Zimmerman

Faith Elizabeth Zimmerman, of
Albert Lea, passed peacefully
into the arms of her Lord and
loved ones on April 4, 2011. She
died at the New Richland Care
Center, her home since July 2010
when her health declined and she
moved from Senior Towers, where
she had lived for six years.
A Celebration of
Life was held at 10:00 a.m., on
Saturday, April 9, at the
Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert
Lea. The Reverend Mark
Niethammer officiated. Interment
was in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Faith was born on
March 6, 1930 in Albert Lea. Her
parents were Ross and Nylene
Asher. She was a 1948 graduate
of the Albert Lea High School.
Faith married Pete Zimmerman on
December 21, 1954 and together
they owned and operated Zim’s
Inn and Pete’s Tap in Albert Lea
and The Circus Tap in Northwood,
Iowa. They moved from Albert Lea
to Northwood in 1971. Pete and
Faith were the parents of two
children, Amy Jo and Scott.
Faith was a supervisor at
Carroll George in Northwood,
Iowa, retiring at age 70.
Faith was
passionate about Texas Hold ‘Em
Poker, often traveling to River
Boats for “a good game” and most
recently to Diamond Jo Casino to
play cards with her friends in
The Poker Room.
Faith is survived
by her daughter and best friend,
Amy Jo Johnson and her husband,
Curt of Ellendale; son, Scott
Zimmerman and his wife, Charli
of Festus, Missouri; her
grandchildren and greatest joy,
Maegan Zimmerman (Michael
Marcon) of Altoona, Wisconsin;
her grandson, Thomas Carmody
(fiancée, Kristy Strom) of
Waterloo, Iowa; her sister, and
best friend, Rosslyn Cameron of
Albert Lea who traveled the
journey to the very end;
sisters, Joan (Bernard) Wehner
of Austin and Lola (William)
Minwegen of Florida; and
brothers, Robert (Marty) Asher
of Texas and David (Janice)
Asher of Washington; as well as
three step-grandchildren, Tom
Mann, Kellen (Ashley) Johnson
and Cole Johnson. “Auntie Fee”
will always be in the hearts of
her special nieces, nephews and
their children. She loved them
all dearly. Faith is also
remembered by her lifelong best
friend, Beverly Head of Albert
Lea.
Faith was
preceded in death by her
husband, Pete on April 5, 1997;
her sister, Patricia and her
husband, Jim Treasure; her
special brother-in-law, George
Cameron; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Ken and Ann
Zimmerman; and her grandson,
Pete Isaac; as well as her
nephews, Clay Cameron and Bruce
Zimmerman; and special
daughter-in-law, Doreen
Zimmerman.
Faith was a
survivor and was spirited, witty
and joy-filled. Those who loved
her cared for her and who have
the honor to have known her are
blessed. In lieu of flowers,
memorials are suggested to the
family.

Betty Miller

Betty Pauline (Thompson) Miller,
70, of Greensboro, Alabama,
passed away on Monday, April 4,
2011, at her home.
She was born the
17 of August, 1940, to Russell
and Viola Thompson of the
Northwood, Iowa area. She
attended school and graduated
from the Carpenter High School,
Carpenter, Iowa, in 1958. Betty
worked at the Methodist Hospital
in Rochester, Minnesota for
several years. She then moved to
Phoenix, Arizona, where she
worked at the St. Joseph
Hospital. In about 1995, she and
her husband moved to a small
hobby farm in Ohio and then
Betty started raising miniature
horses, goats and other
miscellaneous farm animals. She
always loved animals; they were
her "babies." Missing Arizona
they moved back to Phoenix,
animals in tow. After 13 years
she moved to a small farm in
Alabama to be near her daughter
and grandsons. There she
continued to raise and love her
animals and grew a small rose
garden.
Survivors include
her mother, Viola Thompson, now
of Austin, Minnesota; a
daughter, Lorrie Rinehart of
Pelham, Alabama; a son, Barry El
Dahl of Lino Lakes, Minnesota;
four grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Myrna Merfeld of
Weslaco, Texas and Dulcie (Lynn)
Thompson of Austin, Minnesota;
several nieces and nephews and
many friends and co-workers.
Betty was
preceded in death by her
grandparents; father; first
husband; and a brother-in-law.
A memorial
service will be held atop her
favorite mountain peak, Piestewa
Peak (formerly Squaw Peak) in
Phoenix, Arizona, at a later
date.

Margaret Lillian Brazel

Margaret Lillian Brazel, of
rural Northwood, passed away
peacefully on Tuesday morning,
April 5, 2011, at the Manly Care
and Rehabilitation Center,
Manly, Iowa.
Funeral services
were held at 2:00 p.m., on
Friday, April 8, at the
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home,
Northwood, with Rev. Wendi
Gillan officiating. Burial was
in the Sunset Rest Cemetery,
Northwood. Visitation was one
hour prior to the services.
Margaret was born
on February 21, 1913, on a farm
near Stockland, Illinois, the
daughter of John and Elfreda
(Boldman) Brazel, second of
eight children. As a young child
the family moved to Albert Lea,
Minnesota. In 1919, the family
moved to the farm seven miles
east of Northwood, where
Margaret spent most of her
remaining years. She attended
rural school, Deer Creek No. 6,
and graduated from the Northwood
High School. She spent time in
earlier years helping neighbors
who lived nearby. Margaret
accompanied a neighbor to
California in 1937, returning in
1938.
She enjoyed
membership in later years at the
Northwood Baptist Church, was a
faithful Christian and for many
years enjoyed radio ministries.
She received adult Baptism at
the First Baptist Church, Mason
City, from Pastor Hugh Shively.
Margaret enjoyed family,
gardening and nature.
Margaret is
survived by two sisters, Geneva
(Robert) Patterson of Northwood
and Beatrice (Rex) Brockett of
Mason City; and many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded
in death by her parents;
sisters, Opal (Harry) Everhart,
Gladys (Bardelt) Broers and
Doris Brazel; brothers, Virgil
and Kenneth (Lucille) Brazel;
brothers-in-law, Harry Everhart,
Bardelt Brers, Robert Patterson
and Rex Brockett; and
sister-in-law, Lucille Brazel.
Memorials may be
given to the Manly Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center, or a
charity of the giver's choice.

Ronald M. Loken

Ronald “Ron” Melvin Loken, 69,
of rural Northwood, died on
Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the
Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa
in Mason City, as a result of a
John Deere Gator accident.
Funeral services
were held at 1:00 p.m., on
Tuesday, April 12, at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood, with
Pastor Karen Rossing Grandall
officiating. Burial was in the
Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood, with military
graveside honors conducted by
members of the Our Buddies VFW
Memorial Post #6779 of
Northwood. Visitation was held
from 4-7:00 p.m., on Monday, at
the Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood. Visitation was held
one hour prior to the service
time on Tuesday at the church.
Ronald Melvin
Loken, was born on June 1, 1941,
on the family farm in rural
Northwood, the son of Melvin and
Alma (Stiehl) Loken. Ron was
baptized and confirmed at the
First Lutheran Church in
Northwood. Ron attended the
Northwood-Kensett Community
School System, graduating from
the Northwood-Kensett High
School in the class of 1959.
After his graduation Ron
enlisted in the Iowa National
Guard and was with Company E,
1st Battle Group 133D Infantry
and served his country
faithfully and honorably until
his discharge on December 31,
1963. After his honorable
discharge, Ron began farming
west of Northwood and continued
to farm until his death. Ron was
united in marriage to Linda
Hempen on March 23, 1963, at the
First Lutheran Church in
Northwood and to this union two
children were born, Rod and
Robin.
Ron enjoyed
farming all of his life, making
over 100 fishing trips, reading,
traveling, raising Holstein
cattle, buying and restoring two
cylinder tractors, Bluegrass and
Gospel music and festivals, and
visiting with his many friends;
but his great love and enjoyment
was spending time with his wife,
children and grandchildren. Ron
was a member of the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood and
was on the Co-op Oil board for
over 15 years.
Those left to
cherish his memory are his wife,
Linda Loken of Northwood; two
children, Rod (Sue) Loken of
Northwood and Robin (Jay)
Hopperstad of Northwood; his
four grandchildren, Jacob and
Casey Loken and Marty and Laura
Hopperstad; his sister, Marlene
Petersen and husband, Dub
Graversen of Mason City; his
special dog, Hunter; numerous
nieces and nephews; as well as
many other extended family
members and friends.
Ron was preceded
in death by his parents;
stepfather, Shirley Booen;
brother, Larry Loken; and
brother-in-law, Dudley Petersen.

Clifford L. Ehlenfeldt
April 20, 2011
Clifford L. Ehlenfeldt, age 101,
of Eyota, died Sunday, April 10,
2011, at the Golden Living
Center-Whitewater in St.
Charles, Minnesota.
Funeral services
were held on Thursday, April 14,
at 11:00 a.m., at the Faith
United Methodist Church in
Eyota, with the Rev. Mark
Woodward officiating. Burial was
in the Hillside Cemetery in
Minneiska, Minnesota. Friends
called at the Schad & Zabel
Funeral Home in Eyota, on
Wednesday, from 5-8:00 p.m. and
one hour prior to the services
at the church on Thursday. The
Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in
Eyota was in charge of the
arrangements.
He was born on
March 31, 1910 in Miranda, South
Dakota, to Winifred Elizabeth
(Brownell) and Lawrence
Ehlenfeldt. They lived in
Wadena, Minnesota and then in
1926, he and his younger brother
Neil brought their belongings
and cattle to Weaver, Minnesota
and then took the cattle to a
farm near Plainview. Several
years later he struck out on his
own, working at various jobs
until he met the love of his
life, Pearl Ruth Schultz. They
were married on July 1, 1933 in
Winona, Minnesota. Clifford
helped build the dams on the
Mississippi River and worked in
California during the war, where
he and his wife worked in the
shipyards. After the war they
returned to Winona and lived on
and worked her family farm. They
then moved to a farm near
Altura. In 1950, he began
managing the Simon Turkey
Hatchery in Altura, where he
stayed for 13 years. Later he
worked for G&Q Construction. He
also worked for the Altura
Hardware Store until retirement.
After retirement, he and his
wife wintered in Mission, Texas,
and summered in southern
Minnesota. In 1986, he and his
wife moved to Eyota, Minnesota,
where they lived the rest of
their lives with their son and
his family.
Clifford was
active in the Faith United
Methodist Church in Eyota and
enjoyed fishing, woodworking,
chopping wood and cracking black
walnuts.
Survivors include
three sons, Ralph (Denise)
Ehlenfeldt of Kensett, David
(Lori) Ehlenfeldt of Eyota,
Minnesota and Allyn (Lora)
Ehlenfeldt of Winona, Minnesota;
16 grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; and
one sister, Billie Ann Garver of
Florence, Washington.
Clifford was
preceded in death by his wife;
parents; one son, Donald; one
daughter, Karen; four brothers,
Ralph, Neil, Faye and Dale; four
sisters, Marion Hill, Ione
Schultz, Jeannie MacDonald and
Eleanor Lidtke; and one
grandson.

Russell Nellard Selvig, 85, of
Northwood, died on Saturday,
April 16, 2011, at his home in
Northwood.
Funeral services
will be held at 11:00 a.m., on
Thursday, April 21, at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood, with

officiating. Burial will be in
the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood, with military

Russell Nellard
Selvig, was born in Elmore,
Minnesota, the son of Peter A.
and Mary (Kittleson) Selvig.
Russ attended elementary school
in Winnebago County and
graduated from the Thompson High
School in 1943. Russ was
inducted into the U.S. Navy on
June 20, 1944, in Forest City
and served overseas during W.W.
II in the Asiatic Pacific
Theater, and was awarded several
medals, including the medal for
participating in the China
occupation. Russ served his
country honorably and faithfully
and was honorably discharged on
June 23, 1946, in Minneapolis,
Minnesota.
Russ attended
Waldorf College in Forest City
and received his Bachelor of
Science Degree in Horticulture
and Agronomy from Iowa State
University in Ames in June 1950.
He was united in marriage to
Ruth Marie (Pijahn) on June 24,
1951, in Lotts Creek, Iowa. Ruth
preceded him in death on March
21, 1985. In 1973, Russ worked
for the Northwood Co-Op
Elevator, at the Carpenter
branch, until his retirement as
manager in 1992. He was united
in marriage to Caroline Hinds on
July 2, 1989, at the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Caroline preceded him in death
on September 25, 1990.
Russ enjoyed
gardening, going to the
Minnesota Twins games, was an
avid Iowa State Cyclones fan,
fishing, going to Lutefisk
suppers, had a passion of
agriculture and was very church
and civic minded. Russ was also
honored to have participated in
the World War II Honor Flight to
Washington, D.C. He was united
in marriage to Letha Fifield on
April 23, 1992 in Independence,
Missouri. Letha preceded him in
death on January 16, 2003.
Russ was a member
of the First Lutheran Church,
Men of Mission at the church,
former member of the First
Lutheran Church Council, Our
Buddies VFW Memorial Post #6779,
Eagles Club in Albert Lea,
Minnesota, Northwood Lions Club,
Sons of Norway in Albert Lea,
charter member of the Navy
Memorial Foundation in
Washington, D.C. and American
Legion Post for over 48 years.

Leon H. Cooper

Leon H. Cooper, 92, of rural
Iowa City, also known as “two by
four” by many, died on Monday,
April 18, 2011, at the Mercy
Hospital in Iowa City.
Leon’s family
welcomed friends at their home
in Iowa City, on Saturday, April
23, from 2-4:00 p.m. Memorial
services will be held at a later
date in July (to be announced)
at the Gloria Dei Lutheran
Church in Iowa City, with the
Reverend Karl Divine-Koch
officiating. Memorial donations
can be made in Leon’s memory to
the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
or the Iowa City Hospice.
Leon Harold
Cooper, was born on November 20,
1918 in rural Worth County,
Iowa, the son of Loyd and Oline
(Myre) Cooper. Growing up near
Kensett, Iowa, he graduated from
high school there. He worked
with the Civilian Conservation
Corps (CCC) at the Beeds Lake
State Park near Hampton after
high school. On July 4, 1941,
Leon married Portia L. Showers
of Iowa City in Albert Lea,
Minnesota. The couple moved in
1943, when Leon was employed for
a short time with the Rock
Island Railroad in Cedar Rapids.
He then began a career in
carpentry with McCreedy
Construction that spanned over
three decades. In the mid-1970s
he decided he could be his own
boss and many have appreciated
that decision years ago.
He was known not
only for his expert carpentry
work, but for his quirky grin, a
great sense of humor that was
revealed in this kind gentle
man, that many have known and
loved.
Embraced by his
loving family his wife of nearly
70 years, Portia; their
children, Patricia L. Jabusch of
Godfrey, Illinois, Paul S.
Cooper of Iowa City, Carol A.
Cooper of Wasaga Beach, Ontario
and Susan D. Cooper of Iowa
City; seven grandchildren; and
12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded
in death by his parents; and a
sister, Arlene Dishon.

Kenneth E. Roppe

Kenneth Ellsworth “Kenny” Roppe,
86, Northwood, died on Monday,
April 18, 2011, at the Lutheran
Retirement Home in Northwood.
A funeral service
was held at 1:00 p.m., on
Friday, April 22, at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood, with
Pastor Karen Rossing Grandall
and Pastor Dennis Hudson
officiating. Burial was in the
South Shell Rock Cemetery,
Northwood. Visitation was held
from 5-7:00 p.m., on Thursday,
at the Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood. Visitation was also
held one hour prior to the
service time on Friday at the
church.
Kenneth Ellsworth
Roppe, was born on June 21,
1924, the son of Elmer and Anna
(Butler) Roppe. Kenny attended
and received his education in
the rural country school in
Northwood. Kenny farmed with his
parents on the family farm in
rural Northwood before taking
over the family farming
operations. Kenny was united in
marriage to Gertrude Linne on
August 5, 1956, at the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood.
She preceded him in death in
January 1999. Kenny and his
family moved to Northwood in
1971, where Kenny began working
for Carroll George in Northwood.
Kenny also worked for several
years on the street department
for the City of Northwood and
also worked as groundskeeper for
the City at Sunset Rest Cemetery
until his retirement.
Kenny loved and
enjoyed his family and
grandchildren, going fishing
with his grandchildren and also
going to his daughter, Karen on
weekends in Lyle, Minnesota, to
help them with their farming.
Kenny also loved eating
chocolates. Kenny was a member
of First Lutheran Church in
Northwood.
Those left to
cherish his memory are his
children, Sherrie (Bryan) Winter
of Rochester, Minnesota, Karen
(Tony) Emanuel of Lyle,
Minnesota and Bonnie Roppe of
Rochester, Minnesota; six
grandchildren, Brandon, Chad and
Jared Emanuel, Heather Aldrich
and Devin and Brittany Winter;
five great-grandchildren; his
sister, Elaine (Ivan) Olson of
Northwood; as well as other
extended family members and
friends; and Bonnie’s dogs that
were special to Kenny, Buddy and
Sadie.
Kenny was
preceded in death by his

sister who died in infancy.

Donald L. Chodur

Donald L. Chodur, 90, of
Kensett, died on Tuesday, April
19, 2011, at his home in rural
Kensett.
A funeral service
was held at 10:30 a.m., on
Friday at the First Baptist
Church in Forest City, with
Pastor Doug Snyder officiating.
Burial was in the Kensett
Cemetery. Visitation was held
from 5-7:00 p.m., on Thursday,
at the Petersen Lund Funeral
Home in Forest City and
continued an hour prior to the
services at the church.
Donald LeRoy
Chodur, was born on a farm north
of Crystal Lake, Iowa, on
January 5, 1921, the son of
Andrew and Alice (Hansen)
Chodur. He was baptized and
confirmed at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Forest City
and attended the Crystal Lake
School. On February 12, 1947, he
was united in marriage to Gloria
Genevieve Borg at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Forest City.
The couple farmed near Leland,
Thompson and Miller. In 1967,
the family moved to their
present home near Kensett.
Donald enjoyed
many fishing trips to Canada
with his wife, family and
friends. When his sons were
active in 4-H he served as a 4-H
Leader. For many years, Don and
Gloria were part of a
neighborhood card club and
enjoyed wintering in Phoenix,
Arizona. Don enjoyed searching
for antiques, was an avid
collector and loved to “fix
things up.” He could always be
counted on to help out his
neighbors whenever they needed
his assistance.
Don is survived

Dorothy Caroline Dwelle, 99,
Northwood, died on Wednesday,
April 20, 2011, at the
Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient
Unit in Mason City.
A memorial
service was held at 2:00 p.m.,
on Monday, April 25, at the
United Methodist Church,
Northwood, with Pastor Wendi
Gillan officiating. Burial was
in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood. Visitation was held
one hour prior to the service
time on Monday at the church.
Dorothy’s family has requested
that those wishing to give a
memorial in her memory consider
contributions be made to the
United Methodist Church in
Northwood, Northwood Public
Library, a charity supporting
the conservation of whales or to
the charity of one’s choice.
Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood, was in charge of the
arrangements.
Dorothy Caroline
Dwelle, was born on December 9,
1911 in Northwood, the daughter
of Charles and Alice (White)
Dwelle. Dorothy graduated from
the Northwood High School in
1929. She attended the Mason
City Junior College and earned
her Bachelor of Arts Degree at
Coe College in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa. Dorothy began her teaching
career at high schools in
Mitchell, Eagle Grove and
Monticello, all in Iowa. She
continued her education, earning
her Master’s Degree at the
University of Wisconsin,
Madison. She taught English for
the University of Wisconsin in
Racine from 1946–1968. She moved
to West Bend and helped open the
University of Wisconsin,
Washington County. She taught
until 1981, retiring as a full
professor and granted the status
of Professor Emeritus.
Dorothy led a
full and active life. She joined
the Helen Hinman Dwelle chapter
of the Daughters of the American
Revolution in Northwood at age
18. Along with Dr. Helen Huus,
she co-founded the Campfire
Girls and 20s Club in Northwood.
She was a member of the Northern
Lights Chapter of Eastern Star,
Chapter E.S. of the PEO and the
American Association of
University Women. An active
member of the NAACP, she
participated in the Civil Rights
Movement. She was a member of
the United Methodist Church.
Dorothy had a special passion
for whales and a life-long love
of travel, theater, opera and
fine arts. She was a student of
Shakespeare and took pride in
introducing many students and
family to the Stratford Ontario
Shakespeare Festival, which she
attended over a period of 50
years. Having studied at the
University of London in 1953,
she made many return trips to
Britain and traveled throughout
Europe, often accompanied by
students.
Those left to
cherish her memory are her
sister, Shirley Vorland of
Northwood; her nieces and
nephews, Loretta (John) Brown of

Mable Tenold
April 27, 2011
Mable Tenold of Northwood, Iowa,
died on Thursday, April 21,
2011, at the Lutheran Retirement
Home in Northwood.
Funeral services
were held on Tuesday, April 26,
at 11:00 a.m., at the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Visitation was on Monday, at the
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home
in Northwood. Memorials, if
desired, may be directed to the
Lutheran Retirement Home in
Northwood.
Mable Luella
Huso, was born to Albert T. and
Edith Amanda Anonson Huso on
June 11, 1913 in Joice, Iowa,
the second child (and oldest
daughter) of seven children. She
graduated from the Riceville
High School and Bethany Lutheran
College, where she studied piano
and music education. She
attended a music conservatory in
Chicago, studying with a
renowned expert in early child
piano education. Mable then
began a 30 year career in
teaching piano that encompassed
hundreds of students. Mable was
united in marriage to the love
of her life, Glenn O. Tenold on
October 10, 1936. To this union
were born five children,
Suzanne, Nancy Lee, Sally Ann,
John Eric and Kathryn Kim. The
Tenold family enjoyed many
summers at their cottage on Gull
Lake.
Mable was
preceded in death by her
parents; her husband, Glenn; her
daughter, Nancy; her son, John;
her brothers, Wilford (Bill) and
Wayne; her sisters, Gladys,
Stella and Doris; and her
son-in-law, Avery William
Anderson.
She is survived
by her daughters, Suzanne
(Jerry) Olson of Clear Lake,
Sally Anderson of Minneapolis
and Kathryn Kim (Gene) Hagen of
Northwood; eight grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren; her
sister, Clarice Madson of
Mankato; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Mable touched
many lives and will be dearly
missed.

Inez Neale
April 27, 2011
Inez (Aarback) Neale, 88, of
rural Kensett, died on Saturday,
April 23, 2011, at the Manly
Nursing and Rehab Center, Manly,
Iowa.
A Funeral service
was held on Tuesday, April 26,
at 2:00 p.m., at the Schroeder &
Sites Funeral Home, Northwood,
with Rev. Tom Martin
officiating. Burial was in the
Kensett Cemetery, Kensett.
Inez was born on
October 11, 1922 in Worth
County, Iowa, to Even and Clara
(Banken) Aarback. She was
baptized and confirmed at the
Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural
Kensett. She attended school in
Kensett, graduating from the
Kensett High School. Inez lived
on the family farm, where see
attended to all types of
animals. She thoroughly enjoyed
farm life. Inez was a private
individual, enjoying reading and
raising flowers and inside
plants.
She was preceded
in death by her parents;
husband, Herbert; and brother,
Milton Aarback and his wife,
Olga.
Inez is survived
by a niece, Karen Boettcher and
her children, Clayton and Daniel
Boettcher; a nephew, Richard
(Jeanette) Aarback and children,
Debra Oakland and Matt Aarback;
and also Herbert’s children.

Wilma G. Kvam
April 27, 2011
Wilma G. Kvam, of Northwood,
Iowa, died on Sunday, April 24,
2011, at the Lutheran Retirement
Home in Northwood, Iowa, at the
age of 90.
Funeral services
will be held at 1:30 p.m. today,
Wednesday, April 27, at the
Silver Lake Lutheran Church,
rural Northwood. The Reverend
Randy Baldwin will officiate.
Interment will be in the Silver
Lake Cemetery. Visitation was
from 5-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at
the Bonnerup Funeral Service,
Albert Lea and one hour before
the services at the church.
Wilma was born on
December 27, 1920 in Twin Lakes,
the daughter of George and Selma
(Hermanson) Reyerson. She was
baptized on February 13, 1921,
at the Lunder Lutheran Church,
Twin Lakes, Minnesota. Wilma was
confirmed on May 6, 1934, at the
Silver Lake Lutheran Church. She
attended Teachers College in
Cedar Falls, Iowa and then
taught rural school. On May 25,
1941, she married Olaf G. Kvam
in Albert Lea. Wilma and Olaf
had lived and farmed in rural
Northwood. A few years after
Olaf died in 1995, Wilma moved
into Northwood. She had been a
resident at the Lutheran
Retirement Home in Northwood for
the past year and a half.
She was a member
of the Silver Lake Lutheran
Church. She enjoyed baking,
sewing and playing her keyboard
until her eyesight no longer
allowed.
Wilma is survived
by two sons, David (Nancy) Kvam
and Lee (Darlene) Kvam, both of
Northwood; grandchildren, James
Kvam of Maple Grove, Minnesota,
Diane (Brent) Kirchhoff of
Waterloo, Susan (David) Jones of
Iowa Falls, Jason (Lisa) Kvam of
Burnsville, Minnesota and Brian
Kvam of Northwood;
great-grandchildren, Karin Kvam,
Allison Kvam, Kyle Kirchhoff,
Jordan Kirchhoff, Grace, Faith
and Hope Jones; sisters, Bernice
Winch of Guttenberg and Phyllis
Quill, St. Michael, Minnesota;
and nieces and nephews.
Wilma was
preceded in death by a son in
infancy; her husband, Olaf in
1995; and daughter-in-law,
Darlene Kvam in 1996.
Wilma was a
loving mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She will be
greatly missed. Blessed be her
memory!
