Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 19, at the Fertile Lutheran
Church in Fertile, with Lay Pastor David Halverson
officiating. Inurnment will be held later this spring.
Visitation was from 4-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 18, at the
Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City and continued an
hour prior to the services at the church.
Craig Lynn Hauge, was born
in Forest City, Iowa, on January 6, 1959, the son of Arnold
and Helen (Keyser) Hauge, where he grew up and lived his
whole life. He graduated from the Forest City High School in
1977, where he was involved in football, basketball, track
and baseball. After high school he worked for the railroad
and Bartleson Construction, before starting with 3M in 1981
where he has worked for the past 31 years. He married Teresa
Heimdal in 1979 in Forest City, and to this union came three
boys. They were later divorced in 2006.
Craig loved riding horses,
being active in softball and bowling leagues, but as his
boys grew his interests shifted more to teaching them and on
to becoming their biggest fan. Craig has been a long time
Atlanta Braves fan even through the bad years, and was well
known around the area for his Braves jacket he wore for
years. One great memory Craig got to experience with his
boys was a trip to Milwaukee to watch the Braves play a
series and spend time with all three sons. Craig was very
close to his parents who he visited regularly at their farm
outside Fertile. He found joy in helping with the horses,
bailing hay and just enjoying the company of his family.
Craig made it a point to support his family no matter the
event. He was a proud supporter of Forest City athletics,
and also the collegiate and recreational activities his
children took part in. Craig was also a proud supporter of
the U.S. Military, having two sons serve in the United
States Army. No matter the distance of an event Craig made
it a point to be there and be early.
Craig's willingness to do
anything for his family was second to none.
Throughout the last six
years of Craig's life, Craig became an avid blood donor
donating over seven gallons of blood, along with requesting
birthday and holiday gifts be sent to children who were less
fortunate. Craig during that time took up a great passion
