Reva Darlene “Muggs” Fredrickson

Reva Darlene “Muggs” Fredrickson, 86, of Northwood, died on Friday, November 23, 2012 at her home.

Memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Mona Lutheran Church, Mona, Iowa, with Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. “Muggs” as she was known to her family and close friends was born on April 20, 1925 in Pleasanton, Kansas, to Frank and Grace (Rees) Hinds.

She married Harold Fredrickson on September 11, 1944. She was an avid quilter and well known around the Carpenter and Osage areas for their interest in auctions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; brothers, Claude, Pat, Skinny, Lefty and Hubert; sisters, Hazel, Maxine and Alice.

Muggs is survived by two sons; Gary (Becky) Fredrickson of Byron, Minn. and Scott (Ginny) Fredrickson of Placerville, Cal.; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sister, Carol (Jerry) Anderson of Utah; numerous nieces and nephews, especially Kyla, who frequently visited Muggs.

Paul Raymond Hegland

Paul Raymond Hegland, age 77, of Osage, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Paul was born February 23, 1935, in Avery Township, Hancock County, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Pearl (Carberry) Hegland. He was confirmed in 1950 at the Six Mile Grove Church near Lyle, Minnesota.

Paul graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1953. On June 20, 1959, he married Margaret Perau at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. He was active in the Trinity Lutheran Church his entire married life. Paul held various jobs throughout his life and retired from Fieldstone Cabinetry in 1998.

He always enjoyed farming, gardening, and spending time with his family, most especially attending all of the activities of his grandchildren. Paul also enjoyed coffee time and fellowship with the guys.

Paul is survived by his wife, Margaret Hegland of Osage; his children, Sheryl (Alan) Nelson of St. Ansgar, Sharlene (Fred) Sorensen of Waltham, Minnesota, Mary Ann (Kevin) Hudziak of Wild Rose, Wisconsin, Marjorie (Kevin) Simpson of Hudson, Merlyn (Lisa) Hegland of Rudd; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Maria, and Leah Nelson, Lezlie and Lyle Sorensen, Darren and Tanner Hudziak, Spencer and Connor Simpson, Lilly Hegland; and two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant grandchildren; his brother, Glenn Hegland; an infant brother and sister; father-inlaw and mother-in-law, Orlan and Laurina Perau; and sisters-in-law, Marlys Perau and Carolyn Hegland.

Doris E. Hanson

Doris E. Hanson, 92, of Northwood, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.

Funeral service will be on Friday, December 7, 2012, at 1:00 PM at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, Iowa, with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, Iowa.

Doris was born on August 2, 1920 in Newburg Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Albert and Selma (Grapp) Kirchgatter. She graduated from Carpenter High School.

Doris married Elmer S. Hanson on May 12, 1940 in Reinbeck, Iowa. They spent their married life around the Carpenter area and retired to Northwood in 1974.

After owning and operating the Chat’n Chew in Northwood, Doris worked at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood for over 20 years. Doris was very active in the Deer Creek Lutheran Church.

Always, always being the hostess. She was an avid gardener and truly loved life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer in 1974; brothers, Lloyd, Melbourne and LaVern; sisters, Ruth Braun and Alice Smith.

Doris is survived by two sons, Verne (Ellen) Hanson of Indianapolis, In. and Darwin (Diane) of Swaledale, Ia.; a daughter, Myrna (Ron) Jensen of Mason City, Ia.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.


Diane K. Feldt

Diane K. Feldt, 64, died on December 6, 2012 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Hospice Unit, Osage, Iowa. Funeral service was on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Diane K. Mehmen Feldt was born on October 4, 1948 to Raymond Gus Mehmen and Dorothy Maxine Collings Mehmen at Waverly, Iowa. She attended a local country school, finishing in Plainfield schools, and continuing her education at Tech school to become a surgical technician, graduating with honors.

On December 11, 1970 she married Charlie Feldt. To this union were born three children, Allen of Toeterville, Iowa; Sherry (Mike) Marr of Riceville, Iowa; Ray (Kelly) of Orchard, Iowa. Diane spent most of her life in the medical field with a brief stint as a church secretary and part-time restoring woodworks.

But her true passion was her family, especially the grandchildren. Her hobbies were many and varied, from painting, to cross stitch, sewing, crafts and cooking to anything outdoors, such as hunting, fishing, camping and any other outside activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Diane is survived by husband, Charlie; sons, Allen Feldt and Ray (Kelly) Feldt; daughter, Sherry (Mike) Marr; grandchildren, Mitchel and Abby Marr, step grandchild, Isabella Martin; brothers, Steve (Terri) Mehmen, Stan (Karmen) Mehmen; sister, Daleth (Dale) Pothast; and a great number of family and friends.


Rosemary Tigner

Rosemary Tigner, 81, of Lehigh, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Dayton. Burial will be in the Otho Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.

Rosemary Therese Crawford was born on March 26, 1931, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and E. Gertrude (Halligan) Crawford.

On December 27, 1952, Rosemary was united in marriage to Charles Tigner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lehigh. Rosemary and Charles established their home on a farm northwest of Lehigh, and raised four children.

She also worked as a secretary for several Fort Dodge companies over the years.

Among the survivors are her husband of 59 years, Charles Tigner of Lehigh, Iowa; sons, Robert (Terry) Tigner of McCook, Nebraska; Richard (Lucy) Tigner of Kingston, Oklahoma; and Ronald Tigner of Lehigh, Iowa; and daughter, Rochelle (Patrick) Impiccini of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Ramona Pierce of St. Ansgar, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gene Crawford.

Memorials may be left to either the Paula J. Barber Hospice Home or to a charity of your choice.

Carl J. Stomley 

Carl J. Stomley, Jr., 80, died at his home on December 11, 2012.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, officiating. Burial will be in the Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter, Iowa. Visitation is scheduled after 9:00 AM Thursday until service time at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

Carl was born on April 21, 1932 to Carl and Nettie (Halverson) Stromley in Deer Creek Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. The early years of his life he grew up farming and working for farmers in the area. Many stories were kept alive and retold in our home during this time of his life.

He married Marlene (Jackie) Crawford on March 2, 1952 and moved off the farm to Illinois in 1964 where he became a machinist until he retired in 1997. After retirement he moved to Mauston, Wisconsin in 1998 where he enjoyed his family, local horse pulls, his garden and the many people in the area, including his good friends Ron Lund and Dean Noth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant sister Mary Jane; brothers, Orville and Kenneth Stromley; a niece Patricia McPhail; six brothers-in-law, Darrel Patterson, Ray Rekow, Larry Warrington, Glenn Petznick, Ira Hoffland and Jurn Rieman; one sister-in-law Evelyn Stromley.
Carl is survived by two children, Michael Stromley of Missouri and Susan (Benjamin) Farmer of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Stromley, Wis., Jody (Lilly) Farmer, Ill., Jeremy (Wendy) Farmer, Ill.; six great grandchildren, Christian, Sarah, Alex, Jake, Mason and Tyler; ten sisters, Loretta Hoffland, Ruth Patterson, Louise (Bob) McPhail, Jane Rieman, Rose Rekow, Inez (Francis) Hommez, Gladys (Arnold) Groth, Lillian Warrington, Betty (David) Tollefson and Dianne Petznick; 44 nieces and nephews.
