Eleanor L. Low, age 98, of Osage and formerly of Northwood and Carpenter,
died Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health
Care Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7,
2013, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 9th Street North, Northwood,
Iowa, with Rev. Judy Converse officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset
Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Eleanor was born December 3, 1914, at Wyndmere, North Dakota, the
daughter of Levi and Emma (Ellingson) Tue. She moved with her family to
Iowa. Eleanor graduated from Northwood High School in 1932. On February
23, 1933, she married Harold Low in Northwood. They farmed near Little
Cedar and Carpenter, and moved to Northwood after their retirement.
Eleanor greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and loved cooking
for them.
Eleanor is survived by her sons, Charles (June) Low of Phoenix, Arizona,
Ronald (Lola) Low of Osage, Robert (Diane) Low of Austin, Minnesota;
grandchildren, Brent (Sarah) Low, Eric Low, Melissa (Jason) Fairchild,
Brenda Julius, Mark (Mary) Low, Kenneth (Vicki) Low, Keith (Ellen) Low,
Jay (Lisa) Low, Amy Klein, Jan (Mark) Heim; great-grandchildren, Benjamin
(Nicole) Low, Jennifer (Mike) Rundall, Jesse Low, Justin Low, Chase
Fairchild, Chloe Fairchild, Kayli Fairchild, Tucker Julius, Alyssa
Julius, Jessica Julius, Dylan Julius, Matthew Low, Michelle Low,
Christopher (Lauren) Low, Cory Low, Stephanie Low, Allison Low, Ryan

Leonard Arthur Thoresen, age 95, of Osage, died Sunday, September 1,
2013, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013,
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating.
Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with a flag presentation by Osage
V.F.W. Post 7920. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at
the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Leonard was born October 23, 1917, in Kenyon, Minnesota, the son of
Eli and Anna (Brown) Thoresen. He graduated from Orchard High School.
Leonard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 7, 1946, he
married Beatrice Cressey at the Methodist Church in Austin. They farmed
east of Osage. Leonard was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church,
Osage V.F.W., and was a member and past president of Farm Bureau and the
Mitchell County Fair Board.
Leonard is survived by his children, James Thoresen of Charles City,
Susan (Michael) Roetman of Rock Rapids and their daughters, Jennifer and
Jessica, Brian Thoresen of Osage, and Kenneth (Bethany) Thoresen of
Spicewood, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice in
2000; his son, Philip Thoresen in 2011; and brother, Howard Thoresen
in 2004.

RICEVILLE, IOWA - Benjamin Myers, 79, of rural Riceville died at the
Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, on Saturday, August 31,
2013.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville
on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Byron Northwick
officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Wednesday,
September 4, 2013, from 4 until 7 p.m. and one hour before services at the
church.

Benjamin Frederick Myers was born in Riceville, Iowa on December 16,
1933 to Lloyd and Dorothy Metz Myers. He attended country schools. He
served his country in the US Army.
On April 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Velda Kapka at
St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville. Ben worked for White Farm
Equipment in Charles City for 34 years. He enjoyed farming and was a
dump truck driver.
Ben passed away at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in
Osage, Iowa on Saturday, August 31, 2013.
Survivors include his wife, Velda of Riceville; son David of Riceville;
daughter Mary Bennett (Steve) of Mazeppa, Minnesota; three grandchildren
and one great granddaughter. Also surviving are four brothers: Bill (Inga)
of Kalispell, Montana, Lloyd (Cheri) of Lake City, Minnesota, Larry of
Fargo, North Dakota, and Gary (Liz) of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; five sisters:
Eleanor Leonard of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Barbara (Harold) Burfeind of
Lake City, Minnesota, Bernita (Don) Reinhardt of Kalispell, Montana,
Connie Minnick of Red Wing, Minnesota; and Donna Klennert of Lake City,
Minnesota.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Lea Ann, brothers:
George, Gordon, and Fred and a sister Linda Vining.

John Vincent Kraus

Conception Catholic Church
John Kraus, 91, of Charles City, Iowa, died Sunday, September 8, 2013,
at Cedar Health in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for John Kraus will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Mel Hemann will preside
at the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be
conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday
where there will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will
continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.
John Vincent Kraus was born August 11, 1922, at Stephen, Minnesota, the
son of John F. and Agatha (Hemann) Kraus. He received his education at
Visitation Academy in Stacyville. John proudly served in the Army Air
Corps during World War II spending time in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
On August 3, 1944, he was united in marriage to Bernadette Koenigs at
Sacred Heart Church in Meyer. They moved to Charles City in 1965. John
worked as a mail courier for a brief time and for 23 years as Director of
Housekeeping and Safety at the Floyd County Medical Center. He was a member
of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic
Order of Foresters, Environmental Managers Association where he served
twice as president, National Executive Housekeepers Association, Veterans
of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Iowa Fireman's Association.
John was a volunteer fireman and also volunteered with Heart to Home
Hospice. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, traveling and collecting
key chains. One of the highlights of his life was going on the Honor Flight
to Washington D.C. to see the World War II Memorial. John will always be
remembered for his knack of telling jokes. Family was always important to
John and he looked forward to spending time with them and sharing life's
experiences.
Living family members include his wife, Bernadette of Charles City; six
children, Kay (Dick) Deist of Charles City, Allan (Brenda) Kraus of
Stradford, Karen (Virgil) Burns of Charles City, Gary Kraus of Charles City,
Mary (John) Hofkes of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and Jean (Steve) Shannon of
Charles City; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren;
and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Makinzey
Nierling; a brother, Robert Kraus and a sister, Gertrude Halbach.

Kenneth J. Blaser

Kenneth Joseph Blaser, age 90, of Osage, died Wednesday, September
11, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September
16, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond
Burkle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Osage.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a
vigil service at 7:00 p.m.
Kenneth was born November 24, 1922, on the family farm near Meyer, Iowa,
the son of John and Anna (Blake) Blaser. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic
Grade School in Meyer. On August 30, 1949, Kenneth married Lucille Freund
at St. John's Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minnesota. To this union,
seven children were born. He was a hard worker and a dedicated farmer
who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Kenneth retired in 1988,
and he and Lucille moved from their farm near Meyer to Osage in 1989.
After his retirement, Kenneth continued to help on the farm. Kenneth was
a former member of the Stacyville Co-op Creamery Board. He enjoyed dancing,
spending time with his family, and having coffee with his friends at
Hardees. Kenneth will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father,
grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lucille Blaser of Osage; his children,
Wayne (Mary) Blaser of Boyceville, Wisconsin, Norma (Wayne) Simonson of
Grapevine, Texas, Arlene (Dave) Church of Stacyville, Cheryl (Russ) Hemann
of Dubuque, Jim (Lana) Blaser of Stacyville, Sheila (Chris) Kolbert of
St. Charles, Minnesota, Lisa (Jeff) Duncan of Rochester, Minnesota, 15
grandchildren, Bryan (Christa) Blaser, Rick (Tiffany) Blaser, Jon (Molly)
Blaser, Matthew Simonson, Brad (Tracy) Church, Brandi Church, Brittany
(Jeff) Myhre, Julie (Brian) Jasken, Crystal (Will) Thomas, Brent Blaser,
Katie Blaser, Jayme Blaser, Kayla Kolbert, Jason Kolbert and Gracie Duncan;
17 great-grandchildren with the anticipated arrival of two more; brother,
Gervis Blaser of Osage; sister, Kathleen Wiste of Adams, Minnesota; and
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Michael Blaser;
brothers, Roger, Norbert and Richard Blaser; and sisters, Irene Jax, Mildred
Blaser, Rita Smith and Armella Kramer.

Allen Kindschuh

Allen Dwight Kindschuh, age 58, of Mason City, died Sunday,
September 15, 2013, at his home of natural causes.

Allen was born May 21, 1955, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Paul and Verla
(Julius) Kindschuh. He graduated from Osage High School. Allen was employed
at Specialty Engineering in Nora Springs. He was a member of Abate of Iowa.
Allen enjoyed going to NASCAR races, was a Minnesota Vikings fan, and loved
riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed family gatherings, and especially enjoyed
spending time with his grandchildren.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Terry) Roney of Plymouth,
Jill Kindschuh (Sam Gooder) of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren,
Katlynn Roney, Kamryn Roney and Marlee Gooder; a brother, Dennis (Becky)
Kindschuh of Nora Springs; a niece, Tracy (Robert) Teeter of Mason City;
and a nephew, Anthony (Sunny) Kindschuh of Bondurant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kim Kindschuh;
his sister, Charlene Hutzell; and a niece, Vicki Hutzell.

Maxine E. Pullen
OSAGE, IOWA - Maxine E. Pullen, 86, of Osage, died Saturday, September
14, 2013, at the Faith Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the
First United Methodist Church in Osage with Pastor Sam Mack officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral
Home in Osage. Following the funeral service, cremation will take place
and inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery at a later date.
Maxine was born October 21, 1926, at Jackson, Minnesota, the daughter
of Albert and Maud (Kuhn) Froehlich.
She married Robert H. Pullen on August 31, 1947, in Estherville, Iowa.
She was self-employed at Maxine's Beauty Shop in Osage. She was a member
of the Mitchell County Historical Society, Order of the Eastern Star,
V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and was a circle member at the First United
Methodist Church. Maxine enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
bowling, camping and traveling. She also enjoyed watching the L.A. Lakers,
Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes. Those teams have
lost a dedicated fan.
Maxine is survived by her children, Creta Diane Pullen and Bill Reschke
of Bolinas, Calif., Lee (Patti) Pullen of Helendale, Calif., Pat (Kenny)
Decklever of Maxwell, Steve (Crystal) Pullen of Mentor, Ohio; seven
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi Burns of
Worthington, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert H. Pullen
in 2000; and two brothers, Joseph and Alva Froehlich.

Allene Agnes (Rosenberg) Halvorson
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Allene Agnes Halvorson, 93, passed away on
Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home,
Stacyville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at
First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on
Friday, Sept. 20, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar and
one hour before the funeral service on Saturday. Burial will be at
First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar.
Allene was born July 27, 1920, in Newburg Township, St. Ansgar, to
Robert C. Rosenberg and Caroline (Lena) A. Dieterichs. She was baptized
and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural St. Ansgar. She
completed school through grade 8, and then worked for neighboring farm
families. Allene was a wonderful cook, gardener and enjoyed weaving
rugs. She was a volunteer for the Mitchell County Cancer drive and an
active member of First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar.
Alton Halvorson and Allene Rosenberg were united in marriage
March 23, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural St. Ansgar.
Allene is survived by sons Wayne (Kathy) Halvorson of Chatfield,
Minnesota, and Curt (Annette) Halvorson of St. Ansgar along with seven
grandchildren, Kimberly (Andy) deLeon, Lakeville, Minn., Brian (Emily)
Halvorson, Eyota, Minn., Ben (Jennifer) Halvorson, Chatfield, Minn., Julie
(Mike) Sogla, Northfield, Minn., and Nick (Anna) Halvorson, Thomas (Leah)
Halvorson and Valerie (Cory) Johnson all of St. Ansgar, and 15
great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Betty
Halvorson, of Casa Grande, Ariz.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers/sisters-in-laws

Marjorie Ann (Bringsjord) Mudra
Marjorie Ann (Bringsjord) Mudra, 82, 1931-2013
Marjorie Ann Mudra, 82, of Austin, Minnesota, and formerly of Glenville,
Minnesota, died at the Cedars Tuesday morning, September 17, 2013.
She was born May 22, 1931 to Melvin and Ethel (Flemming) Bringsjord
in Stacyville, Iowa. A 1949 graduate of Austin High School, Marjorie
married Kenneth F. Mudra on January 23, 1954, at First United Methodist
Church in Austin. They made their home on the Mudra family farm near
Glenville where they raised two children.
A member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle and the Lyle American
Legion Auxiliary, Marjorie enjoyed traveling, knitting, gardening, and
following her grandkids' activities. Kenneth died on November 9, 2008.
Marjorie moved into Austin in 2013.
Survivors include one son, Alfred Anthony "Tony" Mudra of Glenville;
a daughter, Ann Marie (Gary) Korbel of Prior Lake; six grandchildren,
Jennifer Mudra (Walter Jensen), Laura (Ryang) Kim, Louise (Brian) Yale,
John Mudra, Helen Korbel and Kendra Korbel; her sister Arlene Hueman of
Austin; nieces Kathy (Rick) Johnson and Karen (Mike) Vaith, both of
Austin, and Julie Schmidt of Burnsville. She was preceded in death by
her parents Melvin and Ethel Bringsjord, her husband Kenneth Mudra, and
her aunt Edna Flemming.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 23,
2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle with Reverend Ronald Myers
and Reverend Lydia Mittag officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m.
on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church
one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Interment is at London Cemetery. The family prefers that memorials be

Larry Joe Martin
MOUNTAIN HOME, ARKANSAS - Funeral services for Larry Joe Martin of
Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be private.
Larry passed away September 14, 2013, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at
the age of 61. He was born November 20, 1951, in Hayti, Missouri, the
son of Joe and Velma Cooper Martin.
Larry lived in Mountain Home since moving from Mitchell, Iowa, in 2006.
He was a very avid fisherman, and enjoyed gardening, tinkering with cars,
and being outdoors.
Larry is survived by his son, Scott Martin of West Plains, Missouri,
daughter, Ashley (Kyle) Trytten of Mitchell, Iowa, four grandchildren,
Nathan, Caleb, Memphis, and Aayden Martin, two sisters, Louise (Lee)
Watson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Opal (Charles) Wensel of Gassville,
Arkansas, and two brothers, Lonnie (Tammy) Martin of Gassville, Arkansas,
and Lester Martin of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by parents and brother, Lawrence Martin.

Mary Anne Jennings
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mary
Anne Jennings, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, after
a brief illness.
Mary Anne was born on Nov. 20, 1931, to Lester Jay and Marjorie
Anne Coon in New Oregon Township, Iowa. She met and married Averald M.
(Al) Jennings in January 1951, and the family moved to Yerington, Nevada,
in 1954. In 1964, she and her family moved to Carson City Nev., where
Mary Anne went to work for the State of Nevada Department of Education
as secretary to the Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction, a
position she held for 30 of the 32 years she was with the Department.
She retired in August 1997 after which she enjoyed her many group
memberships and her hobbies of quilting and making greeting cards.
Mary Anne was Past President of the State of Nevada Rebekah Assembly,
an active member of the First United Methodist Church as well as the
American Legion Auxillary Capital Unit 4.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son,
David Jay Jennings.
She is survived by her sons Rex (Jackie) Jennings, Tim Jennings, and Tod
Jennings; daughters Sandra Egoscue and Hope Tingle; granddaughters Serena
(Matt) Janeway, Amy Jennings and Tyler Jo-Beth Jennings; grandsons Charles
(Lucy) Jennings and Noah Jennings; step-grandsons Andrew (Coleen) Munoz
and Brandon Munoz; great-grandson Patrick Broussard and soon to be born
Nolan Jennings; step-great-grandsons Rowan and Garret Munoz and
step-granddaughter Piper Munoz.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Carson
City, Nev., on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be at Lone
Mountain Cemetery. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the fund to build the new animal
shelter in Carson City, Nev.
The family would like to thank Nurse Kim and all of the staff at
Infinity Hospice Care for everything they did for our mother in her
final days. We would also like to thank PA Tatiana Warner of Sierra
Family Health Center for the care she provided during our mother's recent
illness. We also thank mom's many friends for the love and support they
have shown her all these years. You brought great joy to her and she was
thankful for all of you.

Violet Repp
(Died September 29, 2013)
Violet Repp, age 92, of Osage, Iowa, died Sunday, September 29, 2013, at
the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013,
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bryan Lagerstam
officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Denver,
Iowa, at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00
p.m. Tuesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Vi was born March 6, 1921, in Denver, Iowa, the daughter of John "Jack"
and Elsie (Sass) Biemann. She graduated from Denver High School in 1938,
and received her teaching certificate from Iowa Teachers' College in Cedar
Falls. Vi taught in Readlyn and also played organ at St. Peter Lutheran
Church in Denver during this time.
On July 10, 1943, she married Dr. John Milton Repp in El Paso, Texas. To
this union, three children were born, John Jr., Samuel, and Sara. They lived
in El Paso and after John's discharge they moved to Iowa City and then to
Osage in 1953. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was an
active member of her circle. Vi also was a scout leader. She enjoyed playing
piano and organ and in previous years taught piano and organ lessons. Vi
also enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling, playing bridge, and had a great
love of cats.
Vi is survived by her children, John Jr. (Nancy) Repp of Green Bay,
Wisconsin, and Sara Repp of Orchard; daughter-in-law, Melita Repp of
Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. John Repp
in 2008; and her son, Sam in 2007.

Darald Dean Elliott
1934-2013
Darald Dean Elliott was born on July 30, 1934, the only child of Edwin and Bertha Elliott. He died peacefully of MSA in his home at 3861 Primrose Ave, Osage, on Sept. 24, 2013.
Darald graduated from Boone High School in 1952 and immediately began his lifelong career in retail sales, first as a stock boy in the National Tea food store in Boone, and then as manager and/or owner of several retail stores. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard for a number of years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Osage. He met and married Jane Jennison in 1955 and thereafter fathered four children: Sarah Elliott of Osage, Brian Elliott of Snohomish, Wa., Mary (Elliott) Gasteiger of Murrieta, Calif., and Mark Elliott of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, his beloved children and grandchildren: Rachel (Jensen) Vincent and Caleb Gasteiger; Zachary, Hannah, and Isaiah Elliott; Sophia and Miriam Salamah; Grace Elliott; sons- and daughters-in-law, and numerous relatives and friends.
He loved managing and/or owning retail stores; slow dancing with his
wife; sitting in, "dirty old airports," and watching the people go by;
traveling with all expenses paid; swinging on the porch, and playing
"500" with good friends; watching his kids and grandkids come and grow
and go; and listening the sound of the cash register ringing and to
country music. He will be sorely missed and joyously remembered.
