Donald J. Foxen

Donald J. Foxen, 76, of New Haven, died on Monday, September 3,
2012, at the Faith Home in Osage.
A Memorial Mass will be held at
10:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 8, at the St. Peter’s Catholic
Church in New Haven, with Rev. Steve Garner officiating. Inurnment
will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, with military honors at the
grave by the Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be held
from 7-8:30 p.m., on Friday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in
Osage, with a rosary at 8:00 p.m. followed by a scripture wake
service.
Donald was born on October 10,
1935 near New Haven, the son of John and Mary Luella (McCann) Foxen.
He graduated from the St. Mary’s High School in New Haven. Donald
served in the U.S. Army as a medic. After his discharge, he worked
as a mechanic and a farmer in the New Haven area. Donald was cared
for during his final illness by his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Foxen,
and his good friend, Marshall Korte.
Donald is survived by four
sisters, Mary Lucena Eden of Titonka, Alice Wilkins of Nora Springs,
Delores Hemann of Austin, Minnesota and Mary Coleman of Shawnee,
Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; and three brothers, John Robert, Francis Joseph and Leo
Theodore.

Darlene Grace Johnson
September 4, 2012
Darlene Grace Johnson, 82, of rural Lyle, Minnesota, died on
Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home,
Northwood.
Funeral services will be held
on Sunday, September 9, at 2:00 p.m., at the Deer Creek Valley
Lutheran Church, with Rev. Ronald Myers officiating. Burial will
be in the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is
scheduled for Saturday, September 8, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood and will be one hour
prior to the services at the church.
Darlene was born on September
13, 1929 in Osage, to Dennis and Gertrude (Merkel) Schultheis.
She graduated from the Austin High School, Austin, Minnesota in
1947. She worked at Hormel at Austin in the payroll department
for a total of 33 years. Darlene married DeVerne Johnson on
September 28, 1952 in Austin.
Darlene enjoyed quilting,
dancing, gardening, traveling and bus trips, spending time with
her grandchildren and enjoyed the Christmas season and the
family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; a granddaughter, Amelia Grace Young; and brother,
Dean Schultheis.
Darlene is survived by her
husband, DeVerne of Lyle; three daughters, DeAnn (Roger)
Scheffel of Lyle, Denise (Mark) Young of Knoxville, Iowa and
Dawn Fenton of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Schultheis of
Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Michael B. Malmin
September 11, 2012
Michael B. Malmin, 46, of Osage, died on Friday, September 7,
2012, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit
in Osage.
Memorial services will be held
at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 16, at the Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. Roy Ott officiating.
Michael was born on September
13, 1965 in Oakland, California, the son of Allen and Lorraine
Malmin. Michael worked with his father in construction and at
Basic Building Supply. He also had been employed by Fox River
Mills and Osage Manufacturing. Michael was an avid fisherman.

Raymond Norby
September 11, 2012
Raymond Charles Norby, 75, of Rudd, died on Sunday, September 9,
2012, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held
at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 12, at the First United
Methodist Church in Rudd, with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse and
Pastor Wendy Johannsen officiating. Burial will be in the Rock
Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at
the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Ray was born on August 6, 1937
in Mason City, the son of Tillman Johannes and Gea Mabel (Field)
Norby. He graduated from the Rudd High School. Ray served his
country in the Army Reserves. Ray was united in marriage to
Nancy Lee Bromley on April 9, 1961, at the Rock Creek Lutheran
Church in rural Osage. He was a farmer all of his life.
Ray was a Floyd County Master
Pork Producer. He enjoyed farming, John Deere equipment, and
camping.
Ray is survived by his wife,
Nancy Norby of Rudd; three children, Vicki (Brett) Oetken of Le
Mars and children, Sarah, Lindsey and Nathan Oetken, Russell
Norby of Rudd, Brenda (Kevin) Sutcliffe of Mason City and
children, Kaitlin and Keith Sutcliffe; a brother, John (Bonnie)
Norby of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; two brothers, Robert and Harold Norby; and an
infant grandson, Matthew Oetken.

Dorothy Heimendinger
September 11, 2012
Dorothy Heimendinger, 82, of Osage, passed away on Sunday,
September 9, 2012, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center
in Osage.
Graveside services will be
held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 12, at the Orchard
Cemetery in Orchard, Iowa, with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Dorothy was born on June 27,
1930 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Lloyd and Ina (Edwards)
Miller. She was united in marriage to Orville Heimendinger in
May of 1949 in Austin, Minnesota. They farmed south of Osage,
where they operated a used farm machinery business and raised
horses, mules and donkeys. She was an important part of all
aspects of the family business.
Dorothy enjoyed embroidery,
going to auctions and garage sales, playing the accordion and
surfing the internet. She loved miniature donkeys and her
parrot, Maggee.
Dorothy is survived by her
children, Lenice (Paul) Menke of Clear Lake, LaDonna (Rodney)
Gray of Buffalo Center, Deanna (Dana) Andreasen of Forest City,
Ken Heimendinger of Osage and Wanda (John) Stricker of Orchard;
12 grandchildren, Kevin (Shelly) Helmers, Chad (Renee) Helmers,
Tammy Helmers, Teresa (Jamie Krull) Gray, Tara (Daren) Gray-Daugaard,
Tonya (Tim Mulholland) Gray, Jennifer Raw, Brian (Collette)
Andreasen, Heather Burkhardt, Brad Allison, Kaitlyn Stricker and
Alicia Stricker; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Dwayne (Ardith)
Miller of Charles City; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Willrett of
Britt and Pearl Miller of Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Orville in 2010; two brothers, Laverne
and Orville Miller; and a sister, Bonnie Miller.

Shirley O. Markham

Shirley O. (Duenow) Markham, 95, of Osage, died on Saturday,
September 22, 2012, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, October 1, at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Msgr. John Hemann
officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a rosary at 4:30
p.m. and a scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
Shirley was born on May 30,
1917 at home near St. Ansgar, the daughter of Carl A. and Edna (Koster)
Duenow. She graduated from the St. Ansgar High School. Shirley
was united in marriage to Glenn Markham on March 31, 1937. They
farmed in Burr Oak Township until 1965, when they moved to
Osage. They owned and operated the Plaza Café for 17 years until
retirement.
Shirley was a member of the
Sacred Heart Guild and Bible group and was a long time member of
MI Club. She enjoyed flower gardening and baking.
Shirley is survived by three
daughters, Janice (John) Dempsey of Osage, Joan Blake of St.
Ansgar, Pat (Roger) Karau of Elko, Minnesota; four sons, Ron
(Kris) Markham of New Hampton, Rick (Marge) Markham of Osage,
Bob (Kate) Markham of Lakeside, California and Keith (Jessi)
Markham of Gig Harbor, Washington; 23 grandchildren; 40
great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers,
Kenneth Duenow of St. Ansgar, Merlyn Duenow of Montgomery,
Minnesota and John (Sally) Duenow of Liberty Lake, Washington;
and a sister, Margaret (Larry) Runtch of Rochester, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Glenn; a son, Bill; a daughter, Barbara; a
granddaughter, Carol Shannon; brothers, Wayne and Carl; and a
sister, Eleanor.

Mell Taets
October 2, 2012
Mell Anthony Taets, 54, of Grand Junction, Colorado and formerly
of Osage, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 25,
2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, October 5, at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Msgr. John Hemann
officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
There will be a time for lunch and fellowship following the Mass
at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Osage. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to Mell's favorite charity, Homeward Bound
of the Grand Valley, 2853 North Avenue, Grand Junction, Colo.,
81501.
He was born on June 14, 1958,
to George and Kay (Tracy) Taets of Osage. Mell was named after
his grandfather, Camiel (Mell) Taets. Mell graduated from the
Osage Community High School in 1976. He attended Iowa State
University where he was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho
Fraternity and graduated in 1980. Mell became a banker following
college and remained in this field his entire working life.
Having worked in banking organizations in Mason City,
Minneapolis, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City and Grand
Junction, Mell leaves behind long-standing personal and business
relationships in each of these communities. Mell had the unique
talent of making new acquaintances as well as bank clients into
instant lifelong friends. Many substantial, well-known companies
were created as a result of Mell's business and lending
expertise. In addition, Mell was one of the original founders of
Timberline Bank and served on its board of directors. Mell
worked at Timberline Bank up until the day of his death. He
enjoyed gardening, cooking, bike riding, and hiking.
Mell is
survived by his children, Emma and Claire Taets of West Des
Moines; his loving friend, Carolyn Guillen of Grand Junction,
Colorado; his parents, George and Kay Taets of Osage; brother,
Mike (Kim) Taets of Basalt, Colorado; sister, Mary (Todd) Edgar
of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; brothers, John (Doris) Taets
of Fort Dodge, Joe (Julie) Taets of Decatur, Illinois and Jeff (Londa)
Taets of Grand Junction, Colorado; and by 12 nieces and nephews.

Laura B. Mostek
October 2, 2012
Laura B. Mostek, 98, of Mitchell, died on Wednesday, September
26, 2012, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in
Osage.
Memorial services will be held
at 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 3, at the Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Her body
was donated to science. Inurnment will be in the Oak Grove
Cemetery in Mitchell at a later date.
Laura was born on January 29,
1914 at Thor, the daughter of George and Eda (Fleming) Winterton.
She attended the Mitchell Schools. Laura owned and operated a
hardware store in Mitchell. She married Jerry Mostek in December
of 1933. Laura enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching hummingbirds
and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Laura's family would like to
express their sincere gratitude to everyone who assisted in
caring for her.
Laura is survived by her son,
Jerome (Pam) Mostek of Mitchell and children, Lisa (Scott)
Pollard of Osage and children, Preston, Dusty and Ashley, Jeremy
(Katie) Mostek of Osage and children, Katelynn, Makayla and
Jerek; her daughter, Lorraine (Glen) Breckenridge of Mitchell
and daughter, Shelley Breckenridge of St. Ansgar and children,
Stephanie, Britany and Abbie; and one sister, Marcella Ohnemus
of Fall Creek, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Jerry; her daughter, Jean Mostek; and
eight brothers and sisters.

Rose Morrison

Rose Morrison, 88, of Osage, died on Friday, September 28, 2012,
at the Faith Home in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial

Rose Ann (Schwab) Morrison,
was born on June 27, 1924 in Mitchell County, the daughter of
Peter and Anna (Frank) Schwab. She lived her entire life near
Osage and was educated in the Osage Schools through high school.
Rose worked for many families doing housework. She also worked
as a leader at Cedar Valley Produce, which was an egg drying
plant. On February 16, 1946, she was married to Don Morrison.
Two boys were born to this couple, Dennis and Don.
She was a member of the Sacred
Heart Guild, the Kitchen Klatter Band and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Rose enjoyed gardening, flowers, going on car rides and doing
embroidery.
Rose is survived by her
husband, Don Morrison of Osage; her son, Dennis (Julie) Morrison
of Osage and daughter, Heather (Carroll) Blevins and sons, Aiden
and Jace of Jonesboro, Georgia; her son, Don (Deb) Morrison of
Elma and daughter, Courteney (Ron) and sons, Zac and Dillon of
Elma; one sister, Katie (Ransom) Randall of Cedar Rapids; and
one brother, Jake Schwab of Chandler, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; six brothers, Alex, Adolph, Pat, Andrew, Feldie and
John Schwab; and one sister, Margaret Sawyer.
