Betty J. Cooper

May 7, 2003

Betty J. Cooper, age 82, of Allison, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, May 8, at the St. James Lutheran Church, in Allison. Reverend Jerry Laehn will officiate.

Betty Cooper, was born on December 24, 1920 in LaPorte City, Iowa, to Ralph & Leth (Ashley) Foss. She graduated from the LaPorte City High School. She married Allen Cooper on January 18, 1941 in Nashua, Iowa. Betty worked as a deputy clerk in the courthouse.

She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church and was in many of the women's groups in the church. Betty was a member of the Elk's Club in Alabama, Eastern Star and she loved to crochet afghans and give them to her grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Alan; and two infant brothers, David and James.

Her survivors include her sons, Marvin (Jack) and wife, Carolyn Cooper of Allison, Steve and wife, Suzanne Cooper of Osage and Hugh and wife, Barb Cooper of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brothers, Ashley Foss and Lee Foss, both of the LaPorte City; sister, Barb Reinhardt of Crescent City, Florida; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Joan A. Molsberry

May 7, 2003

Joan Alberta Molsberry, 76, of rural Grafton, died on Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 7, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly. The Reverend David G. Kucera and Msgr. Joseph Slepicka officiated. Burial was in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Joan Alberta Molsberry, the daughter of William and Mary Stella (Mayme) Brennan, was born on August 21, 1926 in Des Moines. She graduated from the Manly High School in 1944 and graduated from the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was united in marriage to Robert Molsberry on July 31, 1948. After their marriage together, they farmed two miles southwest of Grafton where they raised their three children. She was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Plymouth.

Joan's parents preceded her in death.

Her survivors include her husband, Robert Molsberry of rural Grafton; three children, Mary Jo Molsberry and her friend, Gary Heit of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michael Molsberry and his wife, Marcia of St. Ansgar and Kevin Molsberry and his wife, Lisa of Algona; five grandchildren, Amy Molsberry of Osage, Sgt. Ryan Molsberry of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, Kathleen McKay and friend, David Ring of Osage and Rachel and Rebecca Molsberry of Algona; one great-grandchild, Lucas McKay of Osage; a sister, Sharon O'Keefe and husband, Dennis of Manly; two brothers, Willis Brennan and friend, Dixie Stromley of Manly and Douglas Thompson and his wife, Cheryl of Lakeville, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Patricia Klemz and her husband, Dale of Overland Park, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Deborah Aves of Kensett, Pamela Brennan of Mason City, Jeffrey and JoEllen Brennan of Bozeman, Montana, Timothy and Kelley O'Keefe of Manly, Ann and Steven Matzen of Manly, Michael and Stephanie O'Keefe of Overland Park, Kansas, James and Heather O'Keefe of Manly, Steven and Sean Thompson of Lakeville, Minnesota, William and Jill Klemz of Topeka, Kansas and Julie and Jeffrey Lickteig of Overland Park, Kansas; and her special and dear friend, Jean Kemna.

Ernest C. Moran

May 14, 2003

Ernest C. Moran, age 79, of Sumner, died after a short illness on Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 9, at the United Methodist Church in Sumner. Reverend John Battern officiated. Committal services were held at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, May 9, in the Osage Municipal Cemetery in Osage, Iowa.

Ernest Clark Moran, son of Clive and Minnie Clark Moran was born on June 20, 1923 at Osage, Iowa. He received his education in the Osage Schools, graduating from the Osage High School in 1940. From January of 1943 until February of 1945, Ernie served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. On March 25, 1945, Ernest Moran and Marjorie Smalley were united in marriage at the Congregational Church in Osage. A resident of Sumner for many years, Ernie was employed as an office manager and owner of the Meadowview Feed Store in Tripoli, until retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner, Thomas E. Woods Post #223, American Legion of Sumner, the River City Barbershop Chorus of Mason City and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing and singing.

Ernest was preceded in death by one son, David Moran in 1954; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Sumner; one son, Kerry (Michelle) Moran of Oelwein; two daughters, Kathy (Sylvan) Mutschler of Linden, Alabama and Beth (Curtis) Senft of LaVista, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Moran of Michigan.

C. Hugh Neeley

May 28, 2003

C. Hugh Neeley, 85, of St. Ansgar, died on Monday, May 5, 2003, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 9, at the United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar. Rev. Jay Amundson officiated. Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar.

Hugh was born on February 15, 1918 in rural Manly, Iowa, to Royal and Elsie (Bowman) Neeley. Hugh's education was in rural schools in the Manly-Plymouth areas. He moved with his parents to a farm northeast of St. Ansgar in 1933 and graduated from the St. Ansgar High School in 1936. Following graduation, Hugh farmed. For 12 years he operated a portable feed mill, grinding feed for farmers. In August of 1937, he married Viola Louise Lorenzen. To this union was born four children. They had a large dairy/grain farm in the St. Ansgar/Toeterville area until retiring in 1987. Viola passed away on June 19, 1983.

Hugh married Virginia E. Larsen Adams on March 14, 1987. They made their home in St. Ansgar. They wintered in Texas from 1987 to 1999. Hugh was a life long member of the United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Viola; an infant brother; two brothers, Elwyn in 1988 and Jean in 1989; one great-granddaughter; and son-in-law, Paul Spindler.

Hugh is survived by his wife, Virginia of St. Ansgar; two daughters, Marcella Spindler (Marlyn) Gahm of Pearl City, Illinois and Beverly (Roger) Bartz of Osage; two sons, Garry (Julie) Neeley and Keith (Virginia) Neeley, all of St. Ansgar; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca Spindler and daughter, Lorilee of Freeport, Illinois, Craig Spindler of Stacyville, Vanessa (John) Huisman and children, Amanda, Dianna, Matthew and Clarissa, of Osage, Darlyne (Paul) Huisman and children, Rachel and Chelsey and Christine (Nicholas) Johnson and daughter, Emily, all of St. Ansgar, Angela Bartz (Terry) McEachran and daughter, Taylor of Mason City, Jennifer Bartz (Joshua) Hinders of Osage, Julie (Dan) Baer and children, Jayna, Ashley and Britney of Little Cedar, Karen (Brian) King of St. Ansgar, Aaron (Ingritt) Neeley of Little Cedar; two brothers, William (Jeannette) Neeley and Marion (Chareen) Neeley, all of St. Ansgar; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Neeley of State Center, Iowa and Bertha Neeley of St. Ansgar; and many nieces and nephews.

Hugh is also survived by Virginia's children, Donna and Lewis Swalve of Garner, Daryl and Beverly Adams of Buffalo Center, Darwin and Thelma Adams of Thompson, Diana and Dale Kramersmeier of Buffalo Center, Doug and Harriet Adams of Fort Dodge and Denise and Mike Eenhuis of Wakefield, Kansas.

Marjorie Mack

May 14, 2003

Marjorie Mack, age 87, of Osage, died on Thursday, May 8, 2003, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. The Reverend Karen Dungan officiated. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery in Howell, Michigan.

Marjorie Mack, was born on August 17, 1915 in Howell, Michigan, the daughter of Glen and Alma (Birdsall) Mack. She attended country school near Deerfield, Michigan through the 8th grade and graduated from the Howell High School in 1932. She attended and graduated from the University of Michigan with a teaching degree. Marjorie taught eight years in country schools and 43 years in the Melvindale and North Allen Park School District in Michigan. She retired in 1980 and moved to Osage in 1984.

Marjorie enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harry and his wife, Madeline Mack; and a great-niece, Melissa Mack.

Her survivors include one nephew, Robert Mack and his wife, Carol of Osage and their sons, Michael, Mitchell, Matthew and Marshall.

George L. Badker, Jr.

May 14, 2003

George L. "Sonny" Badker, Jr., age 70, of Osage, died on Friday, May 9, 2003, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 13, at the First Baptist Church in Osage. The Reverend Roger Davies officiated. George was cremated and inurnment will be at a later date in the Osage Cemetery.

George, Jr. was born on February 22, 1933 in Riceville, Iowa, the son of George and Florence (Dargan) Badker. He married Delores Baker on July 14, 1956. They had six children. George, Jr. joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He served during the Korean Conflict. He was a farm hand most of his life, working for various farmers in the area.

He loved fishing, hunting and was an avid bowler for many years.

George, Jr. was preceded in death by his father; an infant brother, Billy; and a sister, Constance Duren.

George is survived by his wife, Delores; two sons, Michael "Mick" Badker and Robert "Bob" Badker and wife, Julie of Osage; four daughters, Kim Cooper and husband, Tom of Bonifay, Florida, Kristi Badker and special friend, Robi Meyer of Osage, Barb Anderson and special friend, Dale Place of Klemme and Brenda Minter and husband, Bob of Belmond; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-granddaughters.

He is also survived by his mother, Florence of Osage; four brothers, Gregory "Bud" Badker of Osage, Larry Badker and wife, Isabel of Plattesville, Colorado, Doug Badker and wife, Sue of Osage and Bernie Badker and wife, Deidre of New Hartford; three sisters, Nancy Potter of Osage, Norma Colgrove and husband, Don of Black Hawk, South Dakota and Mary Perrin and husband, Dick of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.

Clayton C. Schlick

May 14, 2003

Clayton C. Schlick, age 87, of Osage, died on Friday, May 9, 2003, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12, at the United Church of Christ in Osage. The Reverend Robert Melhorn officiated. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery in Osage, with Military Rites conducted by the Osage American Legion Post 278.

Clayton Schlick, was born on February 6, 1916 in Mason City, Iowa to Edward and Alice Schlick. He graduated from the Mason City High School and Bradley School of Horology in Peoria, Illinois. He worked in jewelry stores in Sioux City, Iowa, Fargo, North Dakota and Mason City, Iowa. He was married to Violet Widmer at Moorhead, Minnesota in 1942. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He opened his own jewelry store in Osage in 1946, which he operated for 36 years.

Clayton was an active member of the Osage American Legion Post 278, serving as Post Commander. He also served as District Commander and held many positions on the district, state and national level. He was a member of the Osage Zoning Commission, Rotary Club, Osage Chamber of Commerce, Osage Development Corporation, Mitchell County Draft Board and the United Church of Christ.

Preceding Clayton in death were his parents; two brothers; a sister; and a grandson.

His survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Violet of Osage; two sons, John Schlick and wife, JoAnn of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Jerry Schlick and his wife, Sharon of Perry, Florida; two daughters, Joellyn Weinberger and husband, Kenneth of Osage and Judy Scheer and husband, Tim of Lakeville, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Cory Weinberger and wife, Michelle, Alicia Trout and husband, Jason, Jennifer Meredith and husband, Kelly, Jason Schlick, Kathy Rierson and husband, Mike and Kari and Kristin Scheer; six great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kierstyn and Trevin Meredith, Taylor and Brandon Rierson and Dylan Lach; one sister-in-law, Vivian Roesler and husband, Larry of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

We will miss him so much.

Thelma Evelyn Henry

May 14, 2003

Thelma Evelyn Henry, 92, of Charles City, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 11, 2003, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services were held at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, on Tuesday, May 13. Reverend Gayle Wilcox of the Trinity United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Thelma was born on August 17, 1910, to Arthur and Mabel (Butler) Schlick in Floyd County, Iowa. Mabel died when Thelma was only four and Arthur later married Mary Chapin Sweet. She attended the Charles City High School graduating in 1928. After graduation Thelma moved to Chicago to pursue nurses training at the Henrotin Hospital. On May 4, 1929, she was united in marriage to Ralph Henry at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed in the Minneapolis and Floyd areas until they retired in 1972.

Thelma and Ralph enjoyed going to their cabin in Minnesota and fishing. They loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida together. Thelma was a member of the Happy Hour Club.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Richard Henry; sister, Maxine Coover; brother, Lowell Sweet; and an infant granddaughter, Carolyn.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pamela and husband, Gordon Lassahn of Ida Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Steven Henry and wife, Laurie and Michael Henry; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Henry Frisbee; six great-grandchildren, Joanne Wilson and husband, Jason, Chad Henry, Crystal Henry, Sybil Kramme and husband, Todd, Rachel Sweeney and husband, Jeremy and Dan Henry; as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Cooper and Memphis Sweeney.

Viola McPhail Alice Peterson

May 28, 2003

Viola McPhail Alice Peterson, age 98, of Waterloo, died on Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, at the Garden View Chapel. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Viola was born on October 5, 1904 in Little Cedar, the daughter of August, Senior and Carrie Seversen Hultman. She married Lynn McPhail on January 10, 1924 in Charles City. After Lynn's death she married Irving J. Peterson on August 5, 1941 in Red Wing, Minnesota. She was employed in the Trim Department at the Rath Packing Company for 36 years, retiring in 1966. Viola graduated from the Little Cedar School in 1921, Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage in 1922 and was a member of the Little Cedar United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, Lynn and her husband, Irving in 1997; her parents; one son, Norman; a granddaughter, Mary Lea Leonard; a great-great-grandson in infancy; five brothers, Albert, Martin, Arnold, August, Junior and Galen Hultman; four sisters, twin sister, Violet Decker, Cordelia Hultman, Bessie Johnson and Helen Culbertson.

She is survived by one son, Russell McPhail and his wife, Zona of Waterloo; four grandsons, David McPhail of Madison, Tennessee, Scott McPhail of Denver, Colorado, Brian McPhail of Osage and Jay McPhail of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; two granddaughters, Jeanne Bruggeman of Northwood and Margie Musch of Washburn; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Florence M. Badker

May 28, 2003

Florence M. Badker, 88, of Osage, died on Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 29, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Riceville. Visitation is from 3-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. There will be a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7:00 p.m.

Florence was born on January 28, 1915 in Riceville, the daughter of James and Emma (Auringer) Dargan. She married George Badker, Sr. on March 19, 1931 in Adams, Minnesota. They made their home in the Osage area. George Sr. died on March 11, 1992. Florence enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma Dargan; her husband, George Badker, Sr.; two sons, George Badker, Jr. and infant son, William; one daughter, Constance Duren; three brothers; one sister; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Florence is survived by three daughters, Mary (Dick) Perrin and Nancy Potter, both of Osage and Norma (Don) Colgrove of Black Hawk, South Dakota; four sons, Gregory Badker and Doug (Sue) Badker, both of Osage, Larry (Isabel) Badker of Platteville, Colorado and Bernie (Deidre) Badker of New Hartford; one brother, Paul Dargan of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Rosemary Kinter of Des Moines and Agnes Kleckner of Osage; 41 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Daniel Gilles

June 4, 2003

Daniel Gilles, age 80, of Adams, died on Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Adams Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 29, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Reverend Gregory Leif officiated. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams, Minnesota. The Adams American Legion Post #146 was in charge of the Military Rites.

Daniel Gilles, was born on January 11, 1923 in Stacyville, Iowa, the son of Roy and Anna (Seibert) Gilles. He grew up in Stacyville and graduated from the Visitation Catholic School in 1941. He joined the United States Navy on October 2, 1942 and served his country during WW II until his honorable discharge in February 1946. He married Gloria Creedy on September 30, 1944 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They moved to Adams, Minnesota, where they remained raising their family and being a part of the community. He worked as a meat cutter at Wagner Foods for 51 years.

Daniel was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a retired Adams Volunteer Fireman, past Adams City Council member and Justice of the Peace as well as a 50 plus year member of the Adams American Legion. His hobbies included fishing and camping with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gilles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilmer, Wilfred and Vernon Gilles; a sister, Adeline Krebsbach; and granddaughter, Jody Michelle Gilles.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Gilles of Adams, Minnesota; sons and daughters-in-law, Colin and Connie Gilles of Stewartville, Minnesota, Charles and Linda Gilles of Adams, Minnesota, Clair Gilles of Austin, Minnesota, Denis Gilles of Mantorville, Minnesota, Robert and Dawn Gilles of Rose Creek, Minnesota and Brian and Chandra Gilles of Adams, Minnesota; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Richard Greeley of Osage, Karen and Pudge Longueville of Austin, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reuben and Ardella Gilles of Austin, Minnesota, Paul and Gert Gilles of Waterloo, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion Johnson of Austin, Minnesota, Theresa and Greg Langenfeld of Dunlap, Iowa, Elizabeth Hemann of Stacyville and Marvin Krebsbach, also of Stacyville.

Ruby M. Kurtz

June 4, 2003

Ruby M. Kurtz, age 90, a native of Klemme, Iowa and a resident of the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake for the past 10 and one-half years, died on Monday, May 26, 2003, at the center.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 31, at the Klemme United Methodist Church, Klemme. The Reverend Paddy Druhl officiated. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. The family suggests memorials to the Klemme United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.

Ruby Kurtz, was born on September 24, 1912 in Thornton, Iowa, the daughter of Erastus and Marageret (Hansen) Miller. In her youth she had been raised by her grandparents, Hans and Bessie Hanson. She attended Klemme Schools and was active in the school plays. She graduated from the Klemme High School in 1931. Ruby was united in marriage to William Harry Kurtz on February 21, 1933 at the Klemme United Methodist Church Parsonage. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their family in rural Klemme.

In addition to assisting her husband with the farming duties, Ruby was a life-long homemaker. She very much enjoyed times spent with her children and grand-children. Ruby always looked forward to hosting family gatherings, especially their annual Christmas Eve gatherings. She liked to follow the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had kept many newspaper articles and clippings of their accomplishments.

Ruby enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing cards, cross stitch and visiting with her friends and family. She was a long-time member of the Grandmother's Club in Klemme and the UMCW at the Klemme United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Ruby also enjoyed raising a variety of flowers.

Ruby's survivors include her son, William "Bill" and his wife, LeeAnn Kurtz of Klemme; daughter, Karen K. Bender of Madison, Alabama; six granddaughters, Kim Ann Hinrichsen and husband, Mark of Osage, Kay Trampel of Belmond, Karo Bratrud and husband, Scott of Clear Lake, Konnie Larson and husband, Donald of Garner, Michelle Bender of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Tracy Bender of Madison, Alabama; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Claude E. Black, 78, of the Ravenwood Health Care Center, died on Friday afternoon, May 30, 2003, at the center.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 3, at the Queen of Peace Parish St John Worship Center, with burial in the Mt Olivet Cemetery. Flag folding will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and the VFW Post 1623. 

Claude was born on October 23, 1924 in Little Cedar, Iowa, the son Elmer J. and Bertha Myrtle Black. He married Mildred A. Clark on June 20, 1944 in Osage. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1996. Claude served in the Army during WW II. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for construction companies, retiring in 1963.

He is survived by 1 son, Steven (Kim) Black of Waterloo; 2 daughters, Carol (Chuck) Allison of Marshalltown and Barbara (Scott) Wienands of Waterloo; 1 brother, George Black of Mason City; 1 sister, Kathryn Lovig of Mitchell, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Alda Krahn Clausen

June 4, 2003

Alda Krahn Clausen, age 89, of Osage, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2003, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 2, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. The Reverend Christian F. Gugel officiated. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery in Osage.

Alda Helen Minnie Ahrens, was born on May 14, 1914, on the family farm west of Osage, the daughter of Richard and Alma (Frese) Ahrens. She was baptized on June 7, 1914 and confirmed on August 25, 1929, at the St. Johns Lutheran Church south of Osage. Alda married Elroy Krahn on January 8, 1935. They had four children. Elroy passed away on October 10, 1956.

On August 6, 1977, Alda married Claus Clausen from Mason City and they lived there until his death on December 12, 1993. Later that year she moved back to Osage. Alda loved to cook, take care of her family and spend time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands; and one infant sister, Erna.

Alda's survivors include her four children, three sons, Richard Krahn and his wife, Rosella of Osage, Gene Krahn and his wife, Katrena of Osage and Ronald Krahn and his wife, Suzanne of Nora Springs; one daughter, Myrna Hoisington and her husband, Howard of Orchard; 11 grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; 14 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Ahrens of Osage; four step-children, Delmar Clausen and wife, Violet, Janice Atkinson, Donna Lawson and Margie Nashiem; and several step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

Kevin J. Koenigs

June 4, 2003

Kevin J. Koenigs, age 23, of Stacyville, died on Saturday, May 31, 2003, of injuries he received in an auto accident near Little Cedar.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 3, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Father Mark Reasoner officiated. Interment was in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville.

Kevin was born on August 13, 1979 in Osage, the son of Kenneth and Veronica (Adams) Koenigs. He attended the Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville and graduated from the St. Ansgar High School in 1998. Kevin worked as a DJ with Heartland Express and was a bartender at the Hang Out in Riceville.

He enjoyed music, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and being with his friends and his dog Sparky.

Preceding Kevin in death were his maternal grandparents, Clara and Ernest Adams; and paternal grandmother, Olive Koenigs.

Kevin's survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Veronica Koenigs of Stacyville; three brothers, Brian Koenigs of Stacyville, Craig Koenigs of Cresco and Scott Koenigs of Stacyville; paternal grandfather, Al Koenigs of Stacyville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
