Minnie I. "Midge" Vietor, 91, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Iowa Falls, died on Tuesday September 6, 2011, at the Life Care Center in Elk Horn, Nebraska.

Leonard Etnier

Leonard Etnier, 91, of Sheffield, died on Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 13, at the Zion St. John Lutheran Church, Sheffield, with Rev. G. Kim Wills presiding. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Visitation was held from 1-2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at the church. The Retz Funeral Home of Sheffield, was in charge of the arrangements.

Marvin Henry Nolte, 78, of Dumont, died on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 14, at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont, with Pastor Jeff Fiet officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 13, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont. Burial will take place in the Dumont Cemetery in Dumont. Tyler Frey, 19, of Ackley, died on Sunday, September 11, 2011, due to injuries sustained from a car accident outside Steamboat Rock.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 15, at the AGWSR High School in Ackley. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Ackley. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 14, at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Minnie M. Olson, 98, of Dows, died on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 21, at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, with Pastor David Sorenson officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Marvin Hearn

Marvin Gene Hearn, 51, of Dumont, died after a three year battle with cancer and went to live with our Lord on Monday, September 12, 2011.

Public visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 14, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison, on Thursday, September 15, with Rev. Gary Mulder officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery. The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Dumont, is in charge of the arrangements.

Wilbur D. "Bud" Pletsch, 86, of Alexander, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa West Campus in Mason City.

Albert M. Bach, 91, of Iowa Falls, died on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.

Walter Amos Wood, Jr.

September 21, 2011

Walter Amos Wood Jr., 79, of Clear Lake, died on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, from complications of heart disease.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, September 20, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, with Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be directed to the Clear Lake School Air Plane Project, E.A.A. Treasurer, 3385 Saratoga Project, Mason City, Iowa 50401, Clear Lake United Methodist Church, or the Hospice of North Iowa. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel of Clear Lake, was in charge of the arrangements.

Bernice Jacobson, 86, formerly of Chapin, died on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 20, at the Retz Funeral Home in Sheffield, with Pastor Sandy Gobeli presiding. Interment was in the Wayside Cemetery in Chapin. Wayne P. Ubben, 76, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Dike, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from complication of Alzheimer’s Disease at the Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Falls.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, September 28, at the Orchard Hill Reformed Church in Cedar Falls. Burial is in the Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 27, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before the services at the church. Borge Andersen, 81, of Dows, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 27, at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, with Pastor David Sorenson officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows.
