Jennie I. Eekhoff, 91

November 14, 2001

Jennie Irene Eekhoff, 91, of Britt, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2001, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 5, at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor G. David Daley officiating at the 10:30 a.m. service. Music was provided by organist, Marilyn DeKruyff and vocalist, Gene Guenther and two congregational hymns. Honorary casket bearers were Cathy Dattoli, Laura Eekhoff, Jodi Roland, Lynn Eekhoff, Jaci Moore and Joni Eekhoff.

Casket bearers were Alan Eekhoff, Juli Eekhoff, Byron Eekhoff, Chris Erickson, Mark Erickson, David Eekhoff and Ryan Eekhoff. Ushers were Howard Jutting and Wayne Rietema. Interment was in the Amsterdam Cemetery at Kanawha.

Jennie is survived by her children, John and his wife, Thelma of Kanawha, Albert and his wife, Roberta of Nevada, Naomi Erickson and her husband, Kenneth of Washington and Don and his wife, Barb of Britt; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Martin Nieman and his wife, Joyce of Britt; one sister-in-law, June Nieman of Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie J. Wright, 92

November 14, 2001

Marie J. Wright, 92, of Britt, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2001, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m., at the Ewing Funeral Home in Britt, with Pastor Susan Detwiler officiating. Music was provided by organist, Tammy Johnson.   

Marie is survived by her children, Carl V. Christenson of Moline, Illinois, Randy Wright and his wife, Ramona of Britt, Rhonda Berhow and her husband, Eugene of Stanhope, Iowa and Ramona Kabrick and her husband, David of Britt; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Ann Hinders, 89

November 14, 2001

Ann Hinders, 89, of Britt, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2001, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 12, at 2:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Britt, with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Music was provided by accompanist, Tammy Johnson and soloist, Donna Smidt.

Casket bearers were Mike Noble, Dave Brouwer, Dan Smith, Jim Smith, Jr., Clarence Seebeck and Charles Ward. Ushers were Harry Smith and Dennis Zuehl. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Ann is survived by one son, Tom Hinders and family of Ames; one daughter, Debbie Dirksen and her husband, Rick of Britt; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Mickey Noble of Britt.

 John McMahon, 98

November 28, 2001

John McMahon, 98, of Britt, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 26, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, with Father Marvin Bries officiating. Lectors were Marie Egolf and Emmett McMahon. Music was provided by organist, Brenda Smith and vocalist, Louise Zrostlik.

Casketbearers were Allan Doughan, Dwight Doughan, Charles Lickteig, Donald Lickteig, Thom McMahon and Gary Lickteig. Ushers were Marvin Holck and Bernard Kunkel. Interment was in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Corwith.

John is survived by his three children, Emmett and wife, Evelyn of Clearwater, Florida, Jim and wife, Nancy of Huntsville, Alabama and Marie Egolf of Concord, California; eight grandchildren, Jana, Kristi, Susan, John Joseph, Thomas, Jennifer, Sarah and John David; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also living are three nephews, Charles and Donald Lickteig of Algona and Tim; four nieces, Joan Elbert of Algona, Mary Lickteig of Omaha, Nebraska and Sr. Joan Lickteig and Sr. Mary Clement of Dubuque.

Jake Leerar, 94

November 28, 2001

Jake Leerar, 94, of Kanawha, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2001, at the Kanawha Community Home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 27, at 1:30 p.m., at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt, with Rev. Jerry Newland officiating. Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Sharon Gourley and vocalists, Jeff Meyers, Craig Meyers, Kim Eggimann and Lisa Kelch.

Casket bearers were Dwight Leerar, Danny Leerar, Lee Leerar, Andy Leerar, Paul Studer, Spencer Hankins, Jeff Meyers, Craig Meyers, Bruce Fleming and Brad Fleming. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Jake is survived by one son, Leonard and his wife, Donna of Britt; three daughters, Dorothy Studer and her husband, Gary of Corwith, Audrey Meyers and her husband, William "Bill" of Corwith and Deloris Fleming and her husband, Wayne of Parker, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Monson of Mason City and Caroline Slagle of Missoula, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews

Alfred W. Stebbins Jr., 72

November 28, 2001

Alfred W. Stebbins, Jr., 72, of Britt, died on Friday, November 23, 2001, at his son's home near Woden.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 1, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Garner. There will be no visitation. The Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt, is in charge of the arrangements.

Alfred is survived by his three children, Debi Schutzer and her husband, Tom of Britt, John Stebbins and his wife, Francine of Woden and Laura Wood and her boyfriend, Dan Doucett of Britt; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
