Synneva Abbas, 89

June 6, 2001

Synneva Abbas, 89, of Kanawha, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services for Synneva Abbas will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 1:30 p.m., at the Kanawha Lutheran Church in Kanawha, with Rev. Dr. William H. Breen Interim Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Friends may call from 5-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 5, at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home in Kanawha and one hour prior to services at the church.

Synneva is survived by two grandsons, Alan Abbas and his wife, Tammy and their two sons, Aaron and Zachary and Douglas Abbas and his wife, Misty and their two sons, Adam and Trevor; three sisters, Ovedia Michelson and her husband, Ernest, Cecelia Roskamp and Mabel Peterson; two brothers, John Omvig and Arthur Omvig and his wife, Marjorie; and many nieces and nephews.

Dolores L. Ridder

June 13, 2001

Dolores L. Ridder, of Klemme, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2001.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, June 11, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme, with the Rev. Curtis DeVance officiating. Interment will be in the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.

Those thankful for sharing her life are her sons, Roger Ridder and his wife, Margot of Klemme and Dennis Ridder of Mason City; daughter, Maralee Ruter of Britt; grandchildren, Monica Kruse, Randy Ridder, Sylvia Shell, Gloria Bittner, Sonja Ridder, Wendy Grove, Brian Ruter, Jason Ruter, Marilyn Petersen, Marian Klein and Dennis C. Ridder; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald Koerner and his wife, Bernice of Klemme; sisters, Valeria Bridges of Klemme and Nova Gelner and her husband, Leon of Klemme.

Tena Ruter, 91

June 20, 2001

Tena Ruter, 91, of Kanawha, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m., at the Wright Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha, with Pastor Charles Walton officiating. Music was provided by Organist, Marge Christians and numerous congregational hymns. Casketbearers were Steven Ruter, David Ruter, Gregory Ruter, Randy Ruter, Scott Ruter, Gary Vaandrager, John Vaandrager and Joel Vaandrager. Ushers were Mike Abels and George Eekhoff. Interment was in the Wright Christian Reformed Cemetery in Kanawha.

Tena is survived by one daughter, Gretta Jane Vaandrager and her husband, Francis of Kentwood, Michigan; three sons, Norman Ruter and his wife, Arlis of Denver, Colorado, Robert Ruter and his wife, Deloris of Kanawha and Kenneth Ruter and his wife, Sally of Denver, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Tillie Verbrugge, Henrietta Rietema and her husband, Art, Nettie Assink and her husband, Harold, all of Kanawha and Marguerite Hensel and her husband, Kelly of Stockton, Illinois; one brother, James Christians and his wife, Mavis of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Minnie Christians, Oralene Christians and Marge Christians, all of Kanawha; and numerous niece and nephews.

Edwin Bailey, 59

June 20, 2001

Lynn Edwin Bailey, 59, of Rowan, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2001, near Sanborn, with his wife Gail as a result of injuries received in an auto accident.

His funeral was held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 14, at the Belmond High School Gymnasium, with Pastor Patrick Kennedy officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery near Rowan. Military rites were conducted by the Andrew Whitten American Legion Post No. 159 of Rowan.

Lynn is survived by one son, Shane and his wife, Lorell of Goldfield; three grandchildren, Heather, Patrick and Michael; two step-daughters, Bethany Lange and her fiancée, Matt Reineke of Estherville and Melanie Lange of Ames; one sister, LaNell Brandes and her husband, John of Waterloo; one brother, Alvin and his wife, Becky of Rowan; four nieces, Allyssa and her husband, Brad, Linda and her husband, Kevin, Ann Marie and Catherine; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Marcella Cunningham of Goodell; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Gail Marie Bailey, 45

June 20, 2001

Gail Marie Bailey, 45, of Rowan, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2001, near Sanborn with her husband, Lynn as a result of injuries received in an auto accident.

The funeral for Gail was held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 14, at the Belmond High School Gymnasium, with Pastor Patrick Kennedy officiating. Burial took place in the Graceland Cemetery near Rowan.

Gail is survived by her two daughters, Bethany Lange and her fiancée, Matt Reineke of Estherville and Melanie Lange of Ames; one step-son, Shane Bailey and his wife, Lorell of Goldfield; three step-grandchildren, Heather, Patrick and Michael; her father and mother, Harold and Marcella Cunningham of Goodell; three sisters, Sharon Millage and her husband, Don of Ames, Tracey Mikesh and her husband, Bill of Franklin, Maine and Corrine VandeVegte and her husband, Jeff of Rock Valley; two brothers, Dwight Cunningham of Goodell and Marc Cunningham and his wife, Sylvia of Portsmouth, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerhard Prull, 97

June 20, 2001

Gerhard Prull, 97, of Kanawha, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2001, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha, with Pastor Charles Walton officiating. Music was provided by organist, Marilyn DeKruyff and soloist, Charlotte Frideres accompanied by Dorothy Garrett. Casketbearers were Dale Rasmussen, John Welden, David Welden, Christopher Wilmarth, Joshua Wilmarth and John Pierce. Ushers were Don Eekhoff and Dean Smidt. Interment was in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.

Gerhard is survived by his daughters, Janice Rasmussen and her husband, Dale of Mason City and Carolyn Welden and her husband, John of Iowa Falls; his grandchildren, Kim Andrea and her husband, Joseph Jr. of Milford, Elizabeth Pierce and her husband, John of Keewatin, Minnesota and David Welden and his wife, Lori of Marshalltown; five great-grandchildren, Amy, Christopher and Joshua Wilmarth, Cole Welden and Mallory Pierce; sister-in-law, Margaret Prull of Kanawha; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry and Tillie Seebeck, Clarence and Genevieve Seebeck, Marian Seebeck of Britt and George and Pearl Seebeck of Sunnyside, Washington.

Alvin Jackson, 76

June 20, 2001

Alvin Joseph Jackson, 76, of Kanawha, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the Kanawha Lutheran Church in Kanawha, with Rev. Dr. William H. Breen Interim Pastor officiating. Music was provided by organist, Twila Schroeder. Casket bearers were Dan Jackson, Kelly Jackson, Neal Jackson, Scott Jackson, Dana Kraft and Jeff Waage. Ushers were Vern Dietel and Willis Engh. Interment was in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Military services were conducted by the Kanawha American Legion Severson Post #77.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Fern of Kanawha; four children, Glenn Jackson of Livingston, Wisconsin, Sharon Henson of Montfort, Wisconsin, Jay Jackson and his wife, Cheryl of Kanawha and Jodi Jackson of Kanawha; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, LeRoy "Red" Jackson of Clear Lake, Lewis Jackson and his wife, Ethelene of Kanawha, Marrian Kraft and her husband, Kenny of Kanawha, Luetta Jackson Stoeckel and her husband, Jack of New Jersey, Paul Jackson and his wife, Kaye of Kanawha and Vivian Waage of Goodell.
