Karl H. Rasche, 79

May 9, 2001

Karl Heinz Rasche, 79, of Plantation, Florida, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at the Vitas Hospice in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

A viewing and celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 5, at the Fred Hunters Funeral Home in Davie, Florida. A viewing and celebration of life will be held from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 11, at the Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Karl is survived by his wife, Shirley of Plantation, Florida; a son, Shane Rasche of North Miami, Florida; two grandchildren, Justin and Melissa; his mother-in-law, Helen Malek of Garner; a brother-in-law, Robert Malek of Garner; a sister-in-law, Donna Jacobsen and her husband, Don of Garner; three nephews, Ryan, Brent and Eric; and nieces, Heidi and Crystal.

Richard L. Keiper, 73

May 16, 2001

Richard L. Keiper, 73, of Britt, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Westview Care Center, Britt, where he had been a resident since the spring of 1997.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 10, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery.

Richard is survived by his brother, John Keiper and his wife, Charlene of Britt; four nieces and nephews, John Keiper of Fairfield, Kimberly and Wendy Keiper of Newhall and Jayson Keiper of Britt; one great-niece; and three great-nephews.

Sherman P. Arends, 64

May 16, 2001

Sherman Paul Arends, 64, of LuVerne, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Humboldt.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church in LuVerne, with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating.

Sherman is survived by his wife, Marcia of LuVerne; children, Joni Torkelson and her husband, Dave of Humboldt, Lori Woodruff and her husband, Will of LuVerne and Mark Arends and his wife, Kris of Alden.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Thomas and Travis Sullivan, Sara and Nick Torkelson, Brodey Woodruff, Brannon and Kyle Arends; and three sisters, Joyce Duea and her husband, Jim of Ames, Josie Schroeder and her husband, Mel of Fort Dodge and Kathleen Artes and her husband, Bob of Britt.

"Beatrice" Joyce Nelson, 75

May 23, 2001

"Beatrice" Joyce Nelson, 75, of Britt, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Britt, with Helen R. McLaughlin officiating.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Raymond of Britt; four daughters, Ripple and her husband, Keith Van Engen of Des Moines, Ava Nelson of Palm Harbor, Florida, Lissa and her husband, Michael Honken of Waukee and Rita and her husband, Steven Fett of Wesley; four granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Iva M. Schalow, 87

May 23, 2001

Iva M. Schalow, 87, of Britt, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 19, 2001, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m., at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt, with Rev. Dennis Secrease officiating. Music was provided by organist, Anita Secrease. Funeral services were also held on Wednesday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m., at the Mullen Funeral Chapel in Adair, with Rev. Peter Haenftling officiating. Casketbearers were Kathie and John Price, Michael and Ranae Gray and Mitzi and Wayne Chizek. Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair.

Iva is survived by her daughter, Marlene and her husband, Gary Gray of Britt; grandchildren, Kathie Price and husband, John of Britt, Michael Gray and wife, Ranae of Garner, Mitzi Chizek and husband, Wayne of Grimes; great-grandchildren, Jason Chizek and his wife, Jessie and their son, Kamrin, Amanda Chizek, Kelley and Jessica Gray; step-great-granddaughter, Mindy (Price) Weeks and her husband, Gary and their children, Mikayla and Owen; one sister-in-law, Irene Kent; and several nieces and nephews.

Oscar Tindall, 70

June 6, 2001

Oscar Charles Tindall, 70, of Britt, passed away of a heart attack on Monday, May 28, 2001, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 31, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith, with Pastor Caroline Engelbrecht officiating. Interment was in the Corwith Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Elmer Wilson American Legion Post #229.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Corwith; his sons, Ken Tindall and his wife, Jana of Aurora, Illinois, Charles Tindall of Corwith and David Tindall and his wife, Connie of Algona; his mother, Edna Tindall; his sister, Natalie Shipman and her husband, Bob; his brother, Duane Tindall; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Tindall, all of Corwith.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Derek, Hannah, Dustin, Devin and Andrew.
