Marjorie Pangburn

Marjorie Pangburn, 94, of Northwood, died on Monday,
September 3, 2007, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in
Northwood.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday,
September 10, at the Northwood United Methodist Church, with
Pastor Wendi Gillan officiating. Burial was in the Stateline
Cemetery, rural Northwood. Visitation was held from 4-8:00
p.m., on Sunday, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m.,
conducted by members of the Northern Light O.E.S. Chapter
262 of Northwood, at the Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood. Visitation was also held one hour prior to the
service time on Monday at the church.
The family of Marjorie Pangburn has requested that memorial
contributions be made to the Worth County Historical
Society, Northwood United Methodist Church, or flowers
because of her life long love of flowers.
Marjorie Pangburn, was born on September 18, 1912 in Grove
Township, Worth County, the daughter of Gayhart and Letha (Seuser)
Gabriel. Marjorie graduated from the Northwood High School,
and worked at the Park Hospital in Mason City as a Practical
Nurse.
She was united in marriage to Milo W. Pangburn on June 30,
1931 in Northwood, and to this union five children were
born. After their marriage together they farmed on the
family farm in rural Northwood, which is a century
farm. Milo preceded her in death on January 29, 1984.
Marjorie was a very unique lady. She had a genuine love of
antiques as well as watching the Indy 500 races, Kentucky
Derby, opera and ballet.
Marjorie was a member of the Northwood United Methodist
Church, Northern Light O.E.S chapter 262 and was Worthy
Matron, founding member and former state garden club
District Director of the Green Thumb Garden Club, Worth
County Historical Society, was instrumental in having the
Red Cross Blood Mobil coming to Northwood, a 4-H Leader,
chairman of the women's farm bureau, Worth County Chorus,
quilters guild, and was known as "The Hosta Lady" for her
many Hosta plants and flowers at her home in rural
Northwood.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Milo "Buck"
(Beverly) Pangburn of Northwood, William (Eunice) Pangburn
of Otranto, Daniel (Donna) Pangburn of Fullerton, California
and Nancy (Jonathon) Appleton of Fair Oaks, California; 11
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great
grandchildren; a sister, Esther Gaarder of Northwood; and
many nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo;
son, Donald George who died in infancy; two granddaughters,
Diane Pangburn who died on November 21, 1980 and Jenna Nerad
who died on August 1, 2006; grandson, William Gary Pangburn
who died on May 9, 1958; and a sister, Bernice Flatness who
died on December 14, 1990.

Madeline Lee
September 12, 2007
Madeline Viginia Lee, 78, of Northwood, died on Thursday,
September 6, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 10, at 10:30
a.m., at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev.
Daniel Hart officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest
Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation was on Sunday, from 5-7:00
p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.
Madeline was born on November 26, 1928 in Spencer, Iowa, to
Urr and Olac Prather Whiting. She married James Duane Lee
on June 6, 1948 at Bristol Church, rural Joice,
Iowa. Madeline worked at the Midway Café, then as a cook in
the Northwood-Kensett School System for 32 years until she
retired.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, also
baking banana bread, going for coffee with her neighbors, as
well as going to bingo.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband;
brothers, Duane, Gail and Laverne; and sisters, Wynona,
Leila and Sharon.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Judy) Lee of
Northwood, Kathleen (Ronald) Gentz of Northwood, Peggy
Hodson and special friend, Rick Holtz of Northwood and
Lorraine (Tom) McClosky of Sioux Center, Iowa; ten
grandchildren, Darrin Gentz, Jessica Qualey, Jared Gentz,
Heather Hamlim, Tanya Olson, Sara Lee, Brian McClosky,
Dustin Hodson, Adam McClosky and Erica Thompson-Blaue; 11
great grandchildren; brother, Keith; and sisters, Opal and
Carrie.

Rachel Brunsvold

Rachel G. Brunsvold, 91, of rural Kensett, former resident
of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, died on
Friday, September 7, 2007, at the Muse-Norris Hospice
Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday,
September 15, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Kensett,
with Reverend Tom Martin officiating. Burial will be in the
Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held
from 4-6:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to
the service time on Saturday at the church.
The family of Rachel Brunsvold has requested that memorial
contributions be made to the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, the
Lutheran Retirement Home, or to the Rets Syndrome Foundation
in her memory.
Rachel G. Brunsvold, was born on April 1, 1916 in rural Lake
Mills. She was the daughter of Ole T. and Anna T. (Heimdahl)
Haugo. Rachel was baptized in the Sion Lutheran Church,
rural Lake Mills, and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism
through confirmation. Rachel graduated from high school in
rural Lake Mills in 1934, and from the Normal Teaching
School in Cedar Falls in 1935. Rachel taught school for four
years in Bristol Township #3, rural Lake Mills, and Silver
Lake #5, rural Northwood.
Rachel was united in marriage to Eldren Brunsvold on October
24, 1942, in the Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake
Mills. After their marriage together they farmed for 64
years in rural Worth County. To this marriage five children
were born, Richard, Dianne, Christine, Mark, and David.
Gardening was a passion. Rachel won many ribbons at the
Worth County fair for her many flower arrangements. She was
also a master of Rosemalling, painting porcelain dolls,
baking, cooking, volunteering for crises line, and providing
shelter for abused women. Rachel was a member of the
Friendship Garden Club, and the Worth County Historical
Society. Her great love and enjoyment was her family and
grandchildren. To her family, Rachel was noted for her
futile attempts to teach her children to play the piano.
She was a member and very active in the Elk Creek Lutheran
Church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, ladies
aid and church circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldren who died on
June 20, 2007; her parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard (Gerd)
Brunsvold of Torpo, Norway, Dianne (Stephen) Ellis of
Anchorage, Alaska, Christine (Conrad) Hoigaard of
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mark (Vicki) Brunsvold of
Minneapolis, Minnesota and David (Pieper) Brunsvold of
Ashland, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, Suzanne (Barry)
Plunkett-Neild, Rachel (Carter) Cox, Matthew, Erin, and Joey
Ellis, Amanda, Pieper, Sydney, Jackson and Isaac Brunsvold;
one brother, Walter Haugo of Litchfield, Minnesota;
sister-in-law, Eunice Haugo of Lake Mills; brother-in-law,
Robert Thoe of Oroville, California; and many nieces,
nephew, other relatives and friends.

Lucille Hogen

Lucille "Liddy" Hogen, 83, of Kensett, died on Tuesday,
September 11, 2007, at the Lutheran Retirement Home,
Northwood.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 14, at 10:30
a.m., at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church rural Kensett, with
Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Burial was in the Elk Creek
Cemetery.
Liddy was born on July 13, 1924 in Lake Park, Minnesota, to
Oscar and Matilda (Marshall) Moen. She attended school in
Ayr, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school. She
worked for farmers cleaning and milking cows as well as
worked for the family owned ‘Page Hotel’ as a cook and
housekeeper. Liddy married Obert Hogen on February 3,
1946.
Liddy played basketball with her high school team that went
104-0 in five years, with five state championships as well
as Liddy making all-state all five of those years. She
enjoyed ice skating, playing cards, attending her children’s
activities, as well as her baking, particularly her ‘famous’
cinnamon and homemade buns. She enjoyed visiting people and
was also an expert seamstress.
Liddy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two
brothers, Melvin and Arvid; one sister, Millie Midlang; one
grandson, Michael; and great-grandson, Carter.
She is survived by her four children, Orville (Sharon) Hogen
of Mankato, Minnesota, Paul (Connie) Hogen of Northwood,
Wendy (Larry) Malo of Mason City and Carol Hogen of Larado,
Texas; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Bernice "Toots" Holden of Grand Forks, North Dakota
and Betty Rutherford of Page, North Dakota.

Harold Fredrickson

Harold Lewis Fredrickson, 87, of St. Ansgar, died on
Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at the St. Mary's Hospital in
Rochester, Minnesota.
A private family memorial service was held at the Mona
Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota, with Pastor Lydia Mittag
officiating. There was a public visitation from 5-7:00 p.m.,
on Monday, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood.
Harold was born on January 25, 1920, to Fred and Ella (Luth)
Fredrickson and he attended rural country schools near
Northwood. He worked for area farmers until he entered the
U.S. Army on October 13, 1941, in Des Moines and was
stationed at bases in California and Neah Bay,
Washington. He was in a radar experimental unit for the Air
Force, which was attached to the Army Signal Corp and later
was trained for a commando unit. He was honorably discharged
as a Sergeant on January 8, 1946 in McClellan Field,
California, prior to being sent overseas.
Harold was united in marriage to Darlene (Muggs) Hinds on
September 11, 1944 in Mason City. Harold worked in Albert
Lea and Clear Lake before moving to the Carpenter area,
where he farmed for 27 years and worked 18 years for B&K
Lumber Company in Northwood, and owned his own construction
company for 8 years.
Other than work Harold enjoyed his gardening, his kids,
fishing and family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Darlene
(Muggs) Fredrickson of St. Ansgar; Scott (Ginny) Fredrickson
of Placerville, California and Gary (Becky) Fredrickson of
Byron, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a
brother, Kenny (LaVerne Fredrickson of Grafton; a sister,
Doris Shir of Onamia, Minnesota; as well as other relatives
and friends.
His parents; and one brother, Irving Fredrickson preceded
him in death.

Lynne Reupke
September 19, 2007
Lynne M. Reupke, 52, died on Saturday, September 15, at the
St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, of respiratory
failure following a long illness.
Friends may call from 5-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September
19, at the Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and one
hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday
morning. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., at the
Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, Minnesota, with
Jef Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn
Cemetery in Stewartville.
Lynne Marie Brandt, was born on December 9, 1954 in Cloquet,
Minnesota. She grew up in Sawyer, Minnesota and moved with
her family to Emmons, Minnesota, where she graduated from
the Emmons High School. She moved to Rochester, Minnesota,
where she was married on July 12, 1975, to Jerome John
Reupke.
Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester until
moving to Stewartville in 1980. Mrs. Reupke was employed as
a waitress at Papa John’s Restaurant in Rochester for
several years and recently was employed by Alliance Health
Care in Rochester as a home nurse’s aide. Mr. Reupke has
worked for 33 years at McNeilius Corp. in Dodge Center,
Minnesota.
Mrs. Reupke was an avid bingo player and enjoyed time spent
with her grandsons.
Survivors include her husband; her step-father and mother,
William and Ione Novitski of Northwood; one son, William
(Bobbie) of Spring Valley, Minnesota; two grandsons, Jacob
and Tanner; three sisters, Cathy (Dave) Vogel of Northwood,
Barb Jensen of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Pat (Doug) Jaspers
of Northwood; two brothers, Daryl (Ginger) Brandt of Signal
Hills, California and Jeff Novitski of Knoxville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a daughter,
Christina.

Funeral services for
June O. Merseth, 86, will be held on Friday, September 21, 2007,
at 1:30
p.m., at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood,
with interment to follow in the Somber Lutheran Cemetery, Lake
Mills.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior
to the service. If desired, memorials may be directed to
the
Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.
June was born on June 25, 1921, on the
family farm in Lengby, Minnesota, to Nels and Gjertina
Hultberg. She was baptized on July 10, 1921, by Rev. G.D.
Nesseth and confirmed on June 26, 1938, at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church by Rev. Kretzschmar. June graduated from the
Bethany Lutheran College in 1942.
June was a teacher in Lutheran schools at Somber -
Northwood, Iowa.; Bethany - Princeton, Minnesota; and Holy Cross -
Madison, Wisconsin. She married Ref. Alf E. Merseth on June 24,
1947. June was a faithful servant to her Lord, a church
organist and vacation bible school teacher, a wife, mother
and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers,
Miles and Juel; sisters, Sylvanna (Sally) Merseth and
O'Laila Vangen; and her husband, Rev. Alf Merseth.
She is survived by her sons, Nile and Grant; sister, Leona Merseth;
and grand and great-grandchildren.

Florence Kallheim
September 19, 2007
Florence B. Kallheim, 92, formerly of Joice, went home in
the arms of the Lord, on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at the Elim
Care & Rehab Center in Princeton, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 19, at
the
Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood, with
Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.
Visitation is from 5-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday evening at the Mittelstadt
Funeral Home in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to
the service at the church on Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Bristol Cemetery in rural Joice.
Florence Berniece Kallheim, was born on April 19, 1915 in Worth
County, Iowa, to Anna Stordahl. She was baptized on June 6, 1915
and confirmed on June 30, 1929 at the Bristol Lutheran Church. Bristol #4 was her Country School. She was a member of the
first graduating class of the Joice High School in 1934.
She married Arnold E. Kallheim on October 31, 1934, at the Sion
Parsonage. The couple farmed northeast of Joice until
Arnold passed away in 1987. Florence was very active as a
wife and mother. She worked with the youth in church as
a
Sunday School Teacher for 34 years. She was very active in
the Ladies Aid and was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed gardening,
playing cards and having coffee with her friends and
family. Florence also liked spending time at the senior
center. She had fun participating in activities at both the
Lake Mills Care Center and the Elim Home in Princeton.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; one
son, Arlo; her mother, Anna; and one grandson, Mark.
Florence is survived by her three children, Marjorie (Clark) VanHooser of Princeton, Minnesota, Jerry (Janice) Kallheim
of Madison Lake, Minnesota and Ron (Linda) Kallheim of Fairmont, Minnesota;
grandchildren, Steven, Kevin, Lori, Susan, Kristin, Tracy
and Cory; great-grandchildren, Amy, Kelsey, Kristin, Genna,
Katelyn, Samuel, Carolyn, Erin, Allison, Benjamin, Emma,
Esten and Elsie; great-great-grandson, Grant;
step-great-grandchildren, Sara, Trisha, Katie and Dallas;
step-great-great-grandchildren, Maegen and Ryan;
sister-in-law, Evelyn Groe; along with many other loving
relatives and friends.
