PATRICIA BEA (Stenzel) SCHWAMMAN
February 9, 1960 - January 25, 2014

Patricia Bea (Stenzel) Schwamman, 53, of Castle Rock, CO, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 25, 2014, at home surrounded by family.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 1, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth Street Castle Rock, CO. Burial followed the funeral service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Castle Rock, CO. Patricia was born February 9, 1960, to Alfred and Caroline Stenzel in Blue Earth, MN.

She grew up in Buffalo Center, on her family’s farm. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1978. After high school, she attended Iowa State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in consumer sciences.

Patricia married James Schwamman on July 2, 1983, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center. For 29 years, she and James lived near St. Louis, MO, where they raised their children, Thomas and Laura Schwamman.

Patricia is survived by: her husband, James of Castle Rock, CO; her son, Thomas of Aurora, CO; her daughter, Laura of Denver, CO; her parents, Alfred and Caroline of Iowa Falls; her brother, Gary (Patricia) Stenzel of Iowa Falls; her parents-in-law, Clarence and Darlene Schwamman of St. Lucas, IA; her sister-in-law, Gail (Timothy) Bradford of Waverly; her brothers-inlaw, Michael (Pia) Schwamman of Wichita, KS, and Patrick (Barb) Schwamman of Cresco; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Ted and Bina Van Hove and Hugo and Ottilee Stenzel.

MAXINE L PINT
February 3, 1924 - January 26, 2014

Maxine L. Pint, 89, of Forest City died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral Services were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 31, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Greg Anderson officiating.

Visitation was held from 4 -7 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St, Forest City.

Burial was in Grafton at the Emmanuel Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City or the American Cancer Society.

Maxine, the daughter of Ray and Cora (Anderson) Munsell, was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Riceville. She graduated from Kensett High School in 1941 at age 17. She then moved to Grafton, where she worked at Walk’s Store. Grafton is also where she met her late husband Hugo Boeset. They were married on Oct. 7, 1945, in Albert Lea, Minn. Maxine then helped Hugo raise his two children. The couple later had four children of their own. A few years after Hugo passed away, Maxine and her youngest daughter, Angie, moved to Osage where Maxine began work at the Fashion Corner. While living in Osage, she met Norbert Pint. They were married June 25, 1977, and resided in Forest City. In the years that followed, Maxine worked at Johnson Drug and later was the receptionist and switchboard operator at Waldorf College.

Maxine enjoyed baking, decorating, her flower garden, antiques, and most of all spending time with her family. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City.

She is survived by her husband, Norbert; children, Hugh (Jan) Boeset of Naperville, Ill., Kathy (Stan) Miller of Dallas, Texas, Angie (Deron) Steiner of Montgomery, Ind.; step daughter Phyllis Norby of Osage; brother Virgil (Ruby) Munsell of Rockford; her sisters Arlene (Ron) Johnson of San Mateo, Calif., and Lorraine Milloy of Rockford. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Hugo Boeset; daughter Barbara Kirchgatter; step-son Don Boeset; and sister Fern Wahl.

TIMOTHY R EDMONDSON
July 19, 1951 - January 31, 2014

Timothy R. Edmondson, 62, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Forest City, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at the Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.,., Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., in Forest City.

Timothy Ray Edmondson, the son of Harold and Ila (Storey) Edmondson, was born July 19, 1951, in Forest City. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1969 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1971. Tim was a devoted son, loving brother and a caring friend. He had a lot of compassion and a good heart. Some of Tim's favorite pastimes were cheering on his L.A. Dodgers and Green Bay Packers, playing cribbage with his mom and eating her home cooked meals along with his sisters chocolate chip cookies, and golfing with his brothers. He had a great sense of humor. Tim was always fun to be around.

He will be deeply missed by his mother, Ila Johnson of Forest City; brothers, Dan (Carol) Edmondson of Decorah, Steve (Linda) Edmondson of Coon Rapids, Minn., Don (Lisa) Johnson of Garner and Jay Johnson of Waterloo; sisters, Sue Edmondson of Forest City and Janet Snyder of Marion, Ind.; along with sixteen nieces and nephews.

JIMMIE D NIELSEN
June 19, 1944 - January 9, 2014

Jimmie Dale Nielsen, 69, of Mission, Texas peacefully passed away in his home on Jan. 9, 2014.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Methodist Church, 305 South Clark St., Forest City, with Pastor Chuck Layton officiating. Upon his wishes he was cremated and there was no visitation. Inurnment of cremains was held in Madison Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Jimmie D. Nielsen memorial fund in care of the family.

He was born June 19, 1944, in Thornton, to Emma Lee Nielsen and the late Martin Nielsen.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen Nielsen; two sons, Todd Nielsen and wife Leslie Nielsen, Tim Nielsen; mother Emma Lee Nielsen; his one brother, Mickey Nielsen; three sisters and their spouses: Sherri and Mike Miller, Linda and Ron Haugen, Mary and Kevin Swanson; three stepchildren, Jesse Bryant, Stephanie Carlson and Brandi Bryant; and seven grandchildren and one great-grand daughter.

WILLIAM "Bill" BENSON
July 27, 1983 - January, 2014

William “Bill” Curtis Attagnaq Benson was born in Barrow, Alaska on July 27, 1983, to Rod and Lucy (Tagarook) Benson. When he was 8 years old, his family moved to Forest City. He loved playing basketball, baseball, football and spent all his free time at the YMCA and outdoor pool with friends. 

After the loss of his dad, Bill returned to Alaska and lived with his grandmother Aaka Bernice in Wainwright.  He was voted prom king his junior and senior year, named captain of the Alak Huskies basketball team and graduated class of 2001 valedictorian.  He became the proud father of his son Rodney in 2004 and his daughter Cara in 2007.  Bill then started his own business in Wainwright, R & B Taxi, where he became a well-known and admired member of the community. He later moved to Anchorage, was trained as an oil spill responder, then began working for ASRC in Prudhoe Bay as a roustabout. His strong work ethic and determination didn’t go unnoticed. He was licensed and promoted to heavy equipment within a year and was on a very promising track to continued success. 

Like his father, he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, grilling and like his mother, he was a great cook. His sense of humor was infectious and he loved to make others laugh. But he was most passionate about his children and loved them unconditionally.  They brought him so much joy and happiness, he cherished every minute with them. He was a genuinely kind and caring man whose heart and home were open to everyone. He touched numerous lives and will be missed dearly.

Bill is survived by his children Rodney and Cara; mother, Lucy; brothers, David and Brian; sisters, Bobbi and Barbara, Aana Mabel; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and best friend.

A service was held in Wainwright, Alaska on Jan. 17, at the Olgoonik Presbyterian Church.

DOROTHY CHRISTENSEN
February 7, 1916 - February 9, 2014

Dorothy Christensen, 98, of Garner died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery south of Forest City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials for Dorothy be given to the Garner United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

Dorothy Christensen, the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Thomas) Keel, was born Feb. 7, 1916, on a farm west of Forest City. She attended Forest City Community Schools graduating in 1934. She shared honors with Miss Thelma Christensen as "Miss Forest City" in a 1934 beauty contest held at the Forest City Theater. On Sept. 1, 1935, she was married to Emil Alexander Christensen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They became the parents of five sons and made their home on the same farm Emil was born and raised on southeast of Hayfield. In 1988, they retired from farming and moved into Garner. Emil and Dorothy spent more than twenty winters vacationing in Florida. Dorothy enjoyed her family, fishing, traveling, reading and craftwork. She also loved to write and wrote a book called "Grandma Remembers."

Dorothy actively held many offices in the Hayfield Methodist Church. She was Promotion Secretary of the Algona District United Methodist Women's Society before it became the Mason City District. She was president of the Hancock County Federated Women's Club for two years, participated in Iowa Farm Bureau Women's activities and was a lifetime member of the Madison Ladies Progressive Club, the Hayfield G.G. Club and the Garfield-Madison Club. Dorothy was presently a member of the Garner United Methodist Church, the Welcome Sunday School class, UMW and the Esther Circle. She enjoyed collecting shells along the Gulf of Mexico and doing shell craftwork. Dorothy was a member of the St. Petersburg Florida Shell Club. In the local area, she gave many talks, entitled "Shells - Shells of Life" to various groups and organizations in the 1980s. She became known as "The Shell Lady."

Dorothy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger (Sharon) Christensen of Austin, Minn., Dick (Peggy) Christensen of Spring Hill, Fla., Don (Dotty) Christensen of Orlando, Fla., Keith Christensen of Forest City and James (Julie) Christensen of Issaquah, Wash.; fourteen grandchildren, Chad (Michele) Christensen of Wilton, Kellie (Tom) Wegner of Canton, Ga., Wade (Barbara) Christensen of Arvada, Colo., Rick Christensen of Leesburg, Fla., Robin (Rod) Morgan of Spring Hill, Fla., Tonya (Scott) Compton of Eustis, Fla., Sonya (Jay) Mulholland of Umatilla, Fla., Sara (Scott) Wagner of Indianapolis, Ind., Andrew (Majo) Christensen of Alicante, Spain, Heidi Weaver of Castle Rock, Colo., Jason (Patty) Christensen of Seattle, Wash., Staff Sergeant Joshua Christensen of Prince George, Va., Jenny Christensen of Waterford, Calif. and Jessica (Matthew) Brandt of Chanhassen, Minn.; two step-grandchildren, Kyle Lawson of Orlando, Fla. and Donna Lindsey of Orlando, Fla.; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, Oct. 20, 2000; her father, Herman, in 1952; her mother, Bertha, in 1956; a brother, Clarence (Winnie) Keel; a sister, Mabel (Truman) Lackore; and a nephew, Robert Keel.

ROZELLA M BOMAN
December 10, 1916 - January 28, 2014

Rozella M. Boman, 97, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, condolences and memorials may be directed to Barb Johnson, PO Box 44, Forest City, IA.

Rozella was born Dec. 10, 1916 to Grover B. and Emma (Nelson) Chryst, in Forest City. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1934 and attended Waldorf College. She was employed in the Winnebago County Auditor’s office, the Abstract office and the Department of Social Services. On Nov. 4, 1950, she married Juel P. Boman and they were blessed with 33 years of marriage.

Rozella accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and was a member of the Calvary Baptist church where she served as a church pianist and organist, Sunday School teacher, choir member and member of the Ladies Mission Circle.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Johnson of Forest City; step-daughter Kathryn Kirkwood of Butler, Pa.; grandsons Brandon, Brian and Timothy Rollefson, and Joel Kirkwood; and great-grandchildren Christian Rollefson and Jade Rollefson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son-in-law John Kirkwood and a grandson, Jared Kirkwood.
