Howard Thomas Hinton, 97, of
Iowa Falls, died on Monday,
December 3, 2012, at the
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital,
Iowa Falls.
Funeral services were held on

Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa
Falls, with burial in the Union
Cemetery. The Surls Funeral
Home, Iowa Falls, was in charge

Marlys Elaine Wright, 89, died
on Monday, December 3, 2012, at
her home in Austin, Texas.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, December 8, at the
First Congregational United
Church of Christ Church in
Hampton. Family greeted friends
from 9:30 a.m. until the service
time on Saturday at the church.
Burial was in the Hampton
Cemetery. The Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home, Hampton, was in
charge of the arrangements.

Luvern Allen Stadtlander, 87,
former resident of Belmond, most
recently of Hampton, died on
Saturday, December 8, 2012, at
the Rehabilitation Center of
Hampton.
Funeral services were held at
the First Reformed Church of
Meservey, on Tuesday, December
11, with the Rev. Rodney Meester
officiating. Interment was in
the Meservey Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the
Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond,
on Monday, December 10. Those
wishing to express their
sympathies in memorials may wish
to consider the Hospice of North
Iowa, the Meservey Reformed
Church or the Rehabilitation
Center of Hampton.

Maurice Elliott, 83, of Hampton
and formerly of Postville,
passed away on Saturday,
December 8, 2012, at the
Franklin General Hospital
Nursing Facility in Hampton.
A
Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on
Wednesday, December 12, at the
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in
Hampton, with Fr. Mike Tauke and
Fr. Bernard Grady officiating.
Visitation was from 4-8:00 p.m.,
on Tuesday, December 11, with a
Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m.,
at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral
Home, Hampton. Private burial
will take place at a later date
in the Liberty Township Cemetery
in Little Cedar. A Celebration
of Life is planned for Saturday,
December 15, in Postville.

Carol J. Koenen, age 82, of
Latimer, passed away on Tuesday,
December 11, 2012, as a result
of injuries received in an
automobile accident.
Funeral services were held at
10:30 a.m., on Saturday,
December 15, at the Zion
Reformed Church north of
Latimer. The Rev. Art Zewert
pastor, officiated. Burial was
in the Zion Reformed Church
cemetery. Visitation was on
Friday, December 14, at the
church and continued for one
hour prior to the services. The
Dugger Funeral Home, Latimer,
handled the arrangements.

Latimer Woman Dies
in Car Crash
Two Hampton Women
Injured
December 19, 2012
A Latimer woman died and
two Hampton women were injured, after a 4:00 p.m. collision
on Tuesday, December 11, at Olive Avenue and 190th Street in
Mott Township, Franklin County.
Carol Koenen, 82, of
Latimer, was driving east on 190th Street and turning north
onto Olive Avenue. Rebecca Smith, 20, Hampton, was driving
with a passenger, Katelynn Smith, 17, both of Hampton, west
on 190th approaching Olive when the 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass
Koenen was driving struck the 2006 Kia Sorento Smith was
driving.
Koenen
was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported
directly to the Dugger Funeral Home. The Smiths were injured
and Franklin General EMS transported them to the Franklin
General Hospital. They were treated and released.

Juanita Maxine Kite, 97, of
Sheffield, passed away on
Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at
the Sheffield Care Center.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, December 15, at 10:30
a.m., at the Sietsema Vogel
Funeral Home in Hampton.
Visitation was from 9:30 a.m.
until the time of the services
on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial was in the Hampton
Cemetery.
She was born on May 9, 1915 in
Casey, Illinois, to Jesse Clyde
and Zora Ellen (Hartman) Kite.
Juanita attended school at Park
Elementary and graduated from
the Hampton High School in 1933.
